"At this particular moment, am I in alignment with, am I in resonance with my values, with what I stand for, with what my heart beats for?" Migena Gjerazi In this special compilation episode, I revisit conversations from Episodes 100 to 200, to bring together moments from conversations to explore how choice isn't always obvious, but it's always there. Awareness opens the door. Articulation gives it form. And action, aligned action, carries it forward. You'll hear different voices and perspectives, but the thread remains the same: we are more powerful than we realise when we give ourselves permission to see, to speak and to step. This episode is a celebration of that. Of the messy, hopeful and courageous work of being human and of choosing to continue moving towards what feels true for us. In this episode, we continue our Lenten book study and focus on chapters 5 & 6. We talk about the original roots of jubilee in the Old Testament, if the Israelites actually observed the jubilee, and how the Dead Sea Scrolls are relevant to jubilee. We also reflect on the importance of prophetic voices, the need to prepare for Sabbath, and why having an open heart allows the Lord to exceed our expectations. Heather's One Thing - Jesus and the Dead Sea Scrolls Video Series with Dr. John Bergsma and Fr. Dave Pivonka Sister Miriam's One Thing - How Change Occurs Series Part 1 and Part 2 from Restore the Glory Podcast Michelle's One Thing - The House of David (Trailer) Announcement: It's not too late to order your copy of “Jesus and the Jubilee” at the St. Paul Center with promo code “ABIDE15” for 15% off. There are also bulk discounts available. Journal Questions: What areas are the smallest and weakest in my life that God wants to magnify in the Jubilee? What are the laws and rituals of the Catholic Faith that I ignore or overlook? How did the Lord design you to rest? Where are the parts of my life where I say “this is as good as it's gonna get?” When in my life has God exceeded my expectations? Discussion Questions: How are you putting the Jubilee into practice? How can I prepare my heart and my life for deeper rest? When are you tempted to offer something up that the Lord didn't ask you to offer up? Who are the prophetic voices of hope and repentance in your life? Quote to Ponder: “Jeremiah decreed that the land would rest seventy years – one for each missed Sabbath year – before the Lord would fulfill his promises, provided Israel repented and had an obedient heart.” (Jesus and the Jubilee, John Bersgma, Page 57) Scripture for Lectio: “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me. Because the Lord has anointed me to bring good tidings to the afflicted. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to those who are bound. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet hit the universe two weeks ago, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that it's all I want to play all of the time. And yet - it seems impossible to go anywhere without hearing complaints about the game. It's the frame rate, the bugs, the raid issues, the botched this, or the broken that. But in essence, Game Freak kind of gave Pokemon fans precisely what we've been asking for for generations now… but it came with some costs that made the game overall suffer. Given that this is a nerdy sermon, it shouldn't shock you to hear that this is a pretty human conundrum to find ourselves in. We face this pressing reality as people, and we've done it since the beginning. I'd wager this won't be the last time a video game fails to live up to expectations. In this nerdy deep dive, we'll highlight one particularly overused piece of scripture to reveal some of the secrets of expectations and look into ways to help ourselves out of the rut of disappointment in our favorite things. So what do the captive Israelites have to do with Pocket Mans? Let's talk about it. Revelation 21 As we conclude the series, "God, Life, and Our Expectations", we consider John's account in Revelation 21, when he speaks of the Age to come. We see how the Earth (the "city of man") has been filled with sin and evil, but that there will come a day when it will be replaced by the City of God. We should live each day as citizens of that coming kingdom, seeking to draw others in.

Welcome to Saturday, June 26th! Today's episode of The Cross Talk Daily Devotional is titled: Our Expectations! Thanks for listening! If you desire further information, you may request it from wordgiver@gmail.com.
2 Corinthians 12:1-10 As we continue the series "God, Life and Our Expectations", we explore the subject of suffering and it's impact on us. Suffering has always been a part of life since the Fall in the Garden of Eden. Jesus experienced God's grace in the midst of his suffering, and thus proved that we too can experience resurrection life. His grace is sufficient for us, and His power is manifested in our weakness.
Matthew 16:13-28 We begin a new summer sermon series entitled "God, Life, and Our Expectations". As we look at Matthew 16, we find Peter having an incorrect understanding of who Jesus was. Initially, he did not understand that Jesus was to be a suffering Savior, before becoming a conquering King. In today's world, many err in their understanding of His purposes. We must manifest Jesus as patient ambassadors of the truth, not hammers of truth. Let love reign.

Also, Jennifer Hudson can SING! ***This Review of RBG has a Spoiler Section*** Intro / Why we’re reviewing this now / What’s an OSP? - Top of the Show. Cast & Crew & Liberal Arousal - 4:24 Production Notes & The Busiest of Schedules - 5:56 Movie Specs & All Time Great Box Office Numbers - 9:40 Plot / Premise & Our Expectations - 13:16 Production Values featuring THAT Editing & Music - 18:21 Performances / The Most Compelling Subjects - 20:11 Script Thoughts / Won’t You Be My Nominee? - 21:49 Oscar Lens / Breaking Down Best Documentary - 24:08 Final Non-Spoiler Thoughts & Watch or Don’t - 28:08 Spoiler Warning Dance Music - 29:28 RBT1000 - 30:43 Worsts: Filmmaking Flaws - 33:08 (Ironically, a Dissent About Scalia - 36:00) Best Scenes - 42:30 Summing Up - 45:05 Final Grades - 49:03 Outro / Social Media / Words or Lyrics of Wisdom - 49:38 The BAFTA’s just nominated RBG over Won’t You Be My Neighbor, the narrative biopic of Ruth Bader Ginsburg - On the Basis of Sex just expanded nationwide, and RBG herself survived yet another cancer scare. So we felt this opened another window for us to give the Oscar Sprint Profile to the shortlisted documentary feature, RBG. If you enjoyed our other OSP’s on this year’s docs, then we do a great deal of non-spoilery comparison of RBG to Won’t You Be My Neighbor, Three Identical Strangers, and Free Solo. But even if you’re just now diving into this category, we do hope to offer a measured, yet complimentary movie review that even Justice Ginsburg herself would be proud of. That being written, we must offer some dissent to the film’s narrative structure. Though we also give credit where credit is due. If there was ever a living legend deserving of a feature length documentary paying tribute to her life & career, Ruth Bader Ginsburg is that legend. So we follow our usual Oscar Sprint Profile format here. That means you get a full non-spoiler section followed by more of a breakdown of the plot including our best and worst scenes after a spoiler warning musical interlude. We discuss some of the production backstory, all of the movie’s eye popping numbers and awards in specs, and shine an Oscar Lens on how this film stands up to the other potential nominees in the Best Documentary Category in non-spoilers. Then we have several good debates and break down some of the missed opportunities and where the movie succeeds most in our spoiler breakdown. It’s another loaded OSP from MMO about RBG, and acronym fans may rejoice with this sentence! (Go ahead and rejoice… I’ll wait.) Stay tuned for more of our OSP reviews of Oscar Contenders in the coming weeks. We’ve already reviewed near forty 2018 films that have been involved with this awards season in one way or another, and we’ll continue to try and hit all of the eventual nominees for the Academy Awards. We’ve also been having a ton of fun with our weekly variety show, MMOW. After we covered the Globes this past Monday, as well as the Guild Nominations and BAFTAs this past week, we plan to have our reactions episode to the Critics Choice Awards posted ASAP after Sunday’s broadcast 7-10pm EST on The CW. Check out our Critics Choice Awards Preview in that BAFTA show to get ready, and stay tuned. As always, let us know what you think of RBG. We are Mike, Mike, and Oscar on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail. We’re @MMandOscar on Twitter, and you can find us just about everywhere you listen to podcasts. Feel free to review, 5 star, comment, like &/or share us on iTunes, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Tune In, Google Play, Spotify, etc… We do thank you once again for all your cooperation and support as we’re experiencing yet another great week of hits that may reset some MMO high scores, and we certainly appreciate anything you can do to help us spread the word about our show. When reality sucks, you’ve been watching movies with us.
***This OSP of The Favourite has a Spoiler Section*** Intro / What’s an OSP? - Top of the Show Non-Spoiler Review of The Favourite Cast & Crew & Thomas the Tank Engine - 2:19 Production Notes & Why Churchill should get a writing credit - 9:18 Movie Specs - 17:48 An Excellent Premise & Our Expectations or lack thereof - 24:46 Production Values - 28:13 Performances & Script Thoughts - 36:16 Watch or Don’t - 37:24 Oscars Lens - 42:28 Spoiler Warning Dance Music - 44:53 SPOILER - FILLED REVIEW Plot Overview/Starting at the End - 46:55 Best Scenes - 54:43 Worst Scene - 56:42 (Who Sarah Really Is - 57:22) More Bests - 58:29 Final Thoughts & Grades - 1:07:41 Outro/ Social Media / Words of Wisdom - 1:10:15 From the critical reception to the precursors to the film itself, the Favourite feels like one of the most Oscar-y movies of the year and one of the safest bets come nomination time. Perhaps that’s why this was one of the easier and smoothest recording sessions in our history. Or maybe we just took our cue from great screenplay of The Favourite. In any case, we thoroughly enjoyed this conversation about one of the year’s best. Our non-spoiler review covers a lot of ground as we offer filmographies of Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, and Olivia Coleman, who all seem to be contenders. Then we dive into our reviews of the production values, which if they aren’t yet contenders, we think they probably should be. There’s also a ton of history to analyze both in terms of the production notes and the production process as Yorgos Lanthimos distinguishes himself from his previous films to deliver perhaps his most palatable, if not most polished film to date. The spoiler section kicks off with an awkward joke, as they tend to do. Then we dive into many of our best scenes, the one we shared as our worst, and of course, we break down the final scenes. Now if you’re keeping score at home, we actually failed to mention one of our Best Scenes of the Year that we mentioned on Wednesday’s halfisode. So go back and enjoy that discussion as we kick ourselves now. But it just goes to show you how many great scenes we wanted to talk about in the episode. It’s our 30th Oscars Sprint Profile on the year, and do go back to our massive catalog in order to plan your next movie night, or nights as you prepare to bone up on all your Oscar contenders before Hollywood’s big night now less than two months away. We also have a ton of preview episodes and award season updates and primers, not the least of which, we bring to you on a weekly basis with our new variety show MMOW. Although we love everything Oscar related, our podcast does enjoy taking a detour whenever the mood strikes. We cover plenty of blockbusters in our Movie Event series as well as some of our favorite movie series like the MCU, Mission Impossibles, Conjuring films, Halloween Franchise, and we just finished reviewing 3 of our beloved childhood Christmas films this past month as we led you through the holidays by way of memory lane. Bottom Line: we’re having a ton of fun, and we thank you for listening. Let us know what you think of this movie or any of the many others. We’re Mike, Mike, and Oscar on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail. We’re @MMandOscar on Twitter, and our show is available wherever you may listen to podcasts. “To free us from the expectations of others, to give us back to ourselves, there lies the great the singular power of self-respect” - Joan Didion Have you ever been disappointed by someone before? Of course, you have! The truth is, though, that the disappointment we experience stems from unfair expectations we place on others. This week, on I HAVE TODAY with Diane Forster, we’re talking about how to drop those expectations and find more freedom and fulfillment through self-love and compassion. Below are three intention statements for TODAY’S episode. Release your expectation of others, practice compassion, and watch your relationships reap the benefits. Love it! - I love how special and powerful I am. Thank it! - I am grateful for my self-love. Bring it! - Everyone is doing the best they can, including me. “It is perfectly fine for you to want whatever it is that you want, but that does not mean that someone else will want it too. The expectation of others has ended many relationships.” Three Strategies to Drop Expectations of Others Begin to notice when you feel disappointed. Ask yourself why you need something from that person. Practice the Emotionally Emotional Diffuser Process. Listen in to the episode to learn more about each of these strategies, and how you can employ them in your life and see your relationships begin shifting. “We all want to be seen, heard, validated, and appreciated.” Each week, we provide you with a mantra meditation, a fun, transformational way to apply the concepts in each episode. Tell yourself the story of what you want, without all of the limitations, and watch your life begin to change! Listen to this week’s mantra meditation to grow in self-love. Letting go of the expectations of others, and growing in the confidence and love of who you are and all that you are capable of, is the only way to truly move forward in success and fulfillment. Each day, we are surrounded by people who are doing the best that they can. Listen in to this week’s mantra meditation, embrace self-compassion, and extend compassion to your relationships. “We don’t need others to change to suit our needs or expectations, we just need to love ourselves more and accept others just the way they are.” Some Topics we talk about in this episode: Introduction - 0:49 The Pitfall of Our Expectations of Others - 4:23 Three Strategies to Drop Expectations of Others - 10:57 Love it! Kevin! ***This Review of Home Alone 2 has a Spoiler Section*** And for the record, we somehow spoil Martin Scorsese’s Casino in the first half. Sorry, but it happened. Intro / Why We Chose Home Alone 2: Lost in New York - Top of the Show Non-Spoiler Review of Home Alone 2 Cast & Crew & Future Presidents - 3:26 Production Notes & Dumb Product Placements? - 15:17 Movie Specs About Happy Audiences & Angry Critics - 18:32 Plot / Premise & Our Expectations - 21:35 Oscar Lens = we love the music - 23:58 Final Non-Spoiler Script Thoughts - 25:51 Spoiler Warning Dance Music - 28:35 Carryovers: We Want to Play a Game - 29:34 (Family Martyr - 31:54) (Bests: Setting it Up - 36:13) (Bests/Worsts: Bad Adults - 38:45) (Curry and Hijinks - 42:22) (Duncan’s Toy Chest - 45:20) (What a Lovely Room of Death - 47:55) (Deaths of Bandits - 50:26) (Epilogue - 56:45) Outro / Social Media / Upcoming Programming / Words of Wisdom - 59:26 At the onset of the month, we promised a Very Merry MMO Holiday Movie Review per week leading into your Christmas holiday, and here’s that third December review of one of our childhood favorites. Though we didn’t expect to take all 3 trips down memory lane all the way back to our much younger selves, it happened. So when the holiday reality of how busy and crazy you are kind of sucks, watch some of our favorite Christmas movies with us. This has been a fun series to give us a break from awards season, and Home Alone 2: Lost In New York was one of our most fun recording sessions. We can’t help but review this film as adults, and the results are not what you might expect. Where would Kevin McCallister be now? We answer this question with connections to other movie franchises. Who are the standout performers? How is this a different kind of sequel than what we’ve been reviewing in previous OSPs like Mary Poppins Returns? And is there an actual Oscar Lens for this movie? The answers should surprise you, as they surprised both of us. The format is similar to our previous Christmas movie reviews as we tend to dive into more of the plot scene for scene in the spoiler section. But we include some of our trademark segments in the non-spoiler section like a rowdy Production Profile, an analysis of the numbers and the business side of this blockbuster, and of course, some analysis of the setups and payoffs in the script. As we are prone to do, we get the giggles and quote happy as we’re having fun with this review experience. But we also riff about a ton of fun theories on just who these characters are both in this story and how they could come back in a modern day Home Alone installment. Someone should definitely write that movie. Not saying it should be us, but we’re open to collaboration. If you enjoyed this episode, tune into our other two Very Merry MMO Holiday Movie Reviews of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and The Muppet Christmas Carol. We also went all out for the month of October with multiple horror themed review series like a two part series on both Dario Argento & Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria films, the Conjuring Universe, and of course, the Michael Myers / MMO Does Halloweens where we reviewed that entire franchise. Stay tuned for more MMO Weekly episodes covering the Oscar Race as well as updates on all the big award shows. We’ll finish our 2018 Oscar Sprint Profiles before heading into our full time Oscar coverage with predictions and category overviews after those nominations drop. Chat with us on social media. We’re Mike, Mike, and Oscar on Instagram, Facebook Reddit, and Gmail. We are @MMandOscar on Twitter, and you can find our show just about wherever you may listen to podcasts. Leave us a review when & where you can, especially iTunes, and as always, thanks for listening!

That’s all part of the experience, honey. ***This Review of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Has a Spoiler Section*** Intro / Part Two of our MMO Christmas Specials - Top of the show Non Spoiler Review of Christmas Vacation Cast & Crew & Oscar Level Actors - 1:56 Production Profile & Origins at the National Lampoon - 10:43 Movie Specs & Typical Critical Scores for an MMO Fave Comedy - 11:51 Plot / Premise & Our Expectations for the Rewatch - 15:04 Production Values & We Review “Holiday Road” Just For Fun - 15:50 Performances & Where Is Chevy Chase Now - 18:51 Final Thoughts on the Script & Oscar Lens - 23:56 Spoiler Warning Dance Music - 24:46 The Plot - 25:49 (Worst: Best Neighbors Ever - 28:47) (Clark Griswold: Everyman - 31:50) (Best: Family’s Here - 33:37) (Christmas Lights - 34:50) (The Attic - 37:00) (Best: Oh Come All Ye Faithful - 39:08) (Cousin Eddie - 41:01) (Worst: Sledding - 42:57) (Is Santa Coming? - 45:11) (We’re All in for a Real Treat - 46:51) (The Bonus, is A Mental Breakdown- 50:01) (But What To My Wandering Eyes May Appear - 54:15) Outro / Social Media / Words of Wisdom - 58:35 National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is one of the Mike’s all time favorite holiday films, and the other Mike really enjoys it as well. So we knew this was a must review. We just didn’t realize we were gonna have THIS MUCH FUN. Our podcast devolves into the Chris Farley Show, but if that was a classic, perhaps our fandom over this movie and the terrific comedy cast involved will shine through & result in your audio pleasure. In fact, Also Mike revealed that one of his Spotify playlists is called “Pleasurable Guilt,” and that might be the category for this film. (We’re on Spotify now BTW. So check us out.) Per usual, we attack this review via our tried and true Oscar Sprint Profile format. There’s a full non-spoiler section including cast & crew filmographies, production stories, movie specs, & reviews of the production values, performances, and script. Then we dive into nearly every beat of the plot during our spoiler section and turn into Chris Farley, Chris Farley, and Oscar to reference that great SNL sketch one final time. Adulthood changes our views on this movie, and we do have a lot of fun poking holes in the script logic and the cartoon realism of all the hijinx. But we also gush over the comedic talents on display, quote WAYYYY too many of our favorite lines, and praise the film for how it satirizes all of the lovable bloopers in the Vacation universe. This is part 2 in our Very Merry Holiday Movie Reviews, and do go back to listen to our look at The Muppet Christmas Carol. We’ll continue to review a Christmas movie per week leading you into the big holiday on December 25th. We’re also continuing to conquer awards season coverage both as movie critics and Oscar pundits. Our MMO Weekly episodes give you timely updates on all of the precursor award show winners and nominations, and we just did a full breaking news episode on the Golden Globe noms. Now if you’re getting your Oscar watchlist ready, check out all of our 6 part Oscar Trailer series and our monthly previews to get learn about all of the contenders for red carpets. Then of course, we’ve reviewed 25 films in our Oscar Sprint Profile series and 10 more 2018 movie events to help you get ready for all the big award shows. And we’re not done yet, not by a long shot. We’ve done a ton of Oscar retrospectives, reviewing many full categories of our favorite races from film history, an entire series of halfisodes on Best Original Songs, and of course, directed preview retrospectives like we’ve done with Dario Argento’s Suspiria and Julie Andrews’ Mary Poppins before we review the remake or sequel respectively. JOOOOYYYYY TOOOO THE WORLLLLLD!!! We’re Mike, Mike, and Oscar!
