In this episode, I'm diving into the messy realities of modern life. Dealing with mean girl behavior and toxic workplace dynamics and deciding when it's time to move on to new opportunities. I also share the growing appeal of stepping away from social media for the sake of our mental health. What happens when we unplug? Is a social media detox really worth it? When does social media become too much? Plus, I discuss author Clancy Martin and his powerful book, 'How Not to Kill Yourself', exploring themes of mental health, resilience, and the difficult conversations we need to have more often. I also relate Martin's struggles to my own and find comfort in the fact he has experiences that are very similar to mine. I felt this fitting for the start of 'Men's Mental Health Awareness Month'. I'm dedicating this episode to any man who has been brave enough to say they need help, is currently struggling, is out of the trenches, or is staying in silence. You matter and I hope you know help is out there for you. Fan Mail HereSupport the show

Your Enemy Knows You Have Favor Part 2 Joshua. Chapter 6
Imagine a people group, repeatedly conquered, exiled, and scattered across the entire globe for nearly 1,900 years. Their ancient capital lies in ruins. Their language is mostly dead outside of religious texts. Their homeland is a backwater province ruled by successive empires. Every empire that tried to eradicate them has all failed. Against overwhelming odds they flourish as a technological, economic, agricultural, military powerhouse. But perhaps the most astonishing of all this is that it was all predicted in remarkable detail by Hebrew prophets more than 2,500 years ago!In today's study I would like to focus on 3 main points that provide substantial evidence that prove why this single Bible prophecy is considered by most scholars to be the greatest prophecy that has been fulfilled in our lifetime:1) Prophetic Precision - Ancient Predictions Fulfilled in Our Lifetime2) Promise Preservation - God's Unbreakable Covenants Faithfully Kept3) Powerful Proof - Its Irrefutability Among All PropheciesKey Scriptures used in today's teaching: Ezekiel 36:22-24Other Scriptures referenced: Deuteronomy 28:64-65; Isaiah 11:12; Jeremiah 30:3; Amos 9:14-15; Romans 1:1-2Unless stated otherwise, most Scripture is read from the New Living Translation (NLT) Bible. If you prayed with Tiff, click here https://lostlamb.org/ and let him know! Description:He's back — and this time he brought a memoir. Comedian Kevin James Thornton returns to For the Love, and if you thought you knew Kevin from his hilarious auto-tuned TikToks and wired-headphone microphone bits, this conversation will lovingly surprise you. Kevin's debut memoir, Big Baby: On Endings, Beginnings, and an Interdimensional Cat, traces his journey from performing as a literal sin clown on a youth group mission trip in 1990s New York City, to grinding it out on the stand-up circuit in LA, to touring one-man shows across the US, Canada, and eventually the world — Helsinki, Stockholm, Paris — all the way to present-day Cincinnati, where he's navigating a major life upheaval with nothing but his 13-pound black cat Comet and an extraordinary amount of hard-won self-awareness. In this conversation, Kevin opens up about what it actually took to write a book — including the two-week-long Airbnb retreat where he mostly just slept and watched TV because his attention span had been completely obliterated — and what surprised him most about recording the audiobook (hint: he cried, more than once, and they left it in). He talks about the strange, freeing moment he realized he no longer needed to prove himself to anyone, and how that shift was the very thing that made his work finally land. And he reflects on the beautiful, sometimes maddening truth that life doesn't end so much as it just keeps beginning again. Thought-provoking Quotes: "Even when I was living in my car, I was still dreaming about the next creative project...I was like that when I was 20. And I'm like that today." – Kevin James Thornton "I didn't realize that I went out into the world constantly trying to prove myself, that I was someone without Jesus. I didn't know that's what I was doing. I can see it so clearly looking backward now." – Kevin James Thornton "We sort of hand over this personal power to other people. It takes a long time to recognize and unlearn that." – Kevin James Thornton Resources Mentioned in This Episode: Brick - https://getbrick.com Jen's Substack - https://jenhatmaker.substack.com/ Sarah Bessey's Substack - https://sarahbessey.substack.com/ Big Baby: On Endings, Beginnings, and an Interdimensional Cat by Kevin James Thornton - https://amzn.to/4mVYPAJ Laughing Toward The Light: Comedian James Thornton Finds Himself at 50 - https://jenhatmaker.com/podcasts/series-55/laughing-toward-the-light-comedian-james-thornton-finds-himself-at-50/ Create with Kevin (watercolor videos) - https://www.instagram.com/reel/DX-UksfK1pG/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Enneagram assessment - https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/ The Comedy Store - https://thecomedystore.com/ Big Baby audiobook - https://amzn.to/4eClfVL Guest's Links: Website - https://www.kevinjamesthornton.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/kevinjamesthornton Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/kevinjamesthornton1 Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNQbKNgL8bcuH8z4pzh9flw TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@kevinjamesthornton Substack - https://kevinjamesthornton.substack.com/ Connect with Jen!Jen's Website - https://jenhatmaker.com/ Jen's Instagram - https://instagram.com/jenhatmakerJen's Twitter - https://twitter.com/jenHatmaker/ Jen's Facebook - https://facebook.com/jenhatmakerJen's YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/user/JenHatmaker The For the Love Podcast is presented by Audacy. A rule change in South Dakota opened a door that allowed a sizable increase in the number of eligible foster parents. It is a boon for places like the Oglala Sioux Reservation that declared an emergency in foster child placement as recently as three years ago. The Minnesota Supreme Court turned back another challenge to the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) as the legal justifications for such claims dwindle. And we’ll learn about a Pascua Yaqui tribal secretary who has opened her home to more than two dozen foster children over the years. Adam helps a client to experience a quantum leap forward in their life by changing their core beliefs on worthiness and love to create the possibility of a brand new beginning.
In 1965, Mick Jagger, the lead singer of The Rolling Stones, and the lead guitarist, Keith Richards, wrote one of their most popular hit songs; “Can't Get No Satisfaction.” This 1965 classic perfectly captures that restless, unfulfilled endless chase for satisfaction that nothing in the world can truly provide. Many of you feel like you have tried everything, and yet you aren't satisfied. Something deep inside still feels empty, restless, and lonely. Billy Graham stood before brilliant students at Harvard when one asked, “Tell me plainly, how can I know God?” The answer hasn't changed in 2,000 years. Today we'll walk through the four simple yet powerful steps from God's Word that will answer plainly, how you can know God.1 - God's Purpose2 - Our Problem3 - God's Remedy4 - Our ResponseKey Scriptures used in today's teaching: Romans 5:6-11Other Scriptures referenced: Romans 15:13; John 10:10; Isaiah 59:2; Romans 6:23; 2 Peter 3:9; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; 1 Peter 2:24-25; John 1:12-13; Romans 10:13If you prayed with Tiff, click here https://lostlamb.org/ and let him know! Sponsored by Genentech, a member of the Roche Group, and Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. Intended for US Audiences. This information is for general purposes only and is not a substitute for consulting your healthcare provider about food allergy treatment. Dr. Ari Zelig has been financially compensated by Genentech and Novartis for his participation in this episode. Today, I'm joined by Dr. Ari Zelig, a board-certified allergist and immunologist to unpack what's really happening when it comes to food allergies - and why so many more people are dealing with them today. If you are navigating food allergies, or if you've ever wondered if what you're experiencing might be more than just a sensitivity, this episode features an informative discussion on these topics! In this episode, we dive into the reality of living with food allergies, from the day-to-day challenges that families carry to the misconceptions that still exist around what an allergic reaction to food actually looks like. Dr. Zelig breaks down IgE-mediated food allergies, what's happening in the body during a reaction, and why early exposure guidelines for kids have changed. Plus, we discuss a treatment option, XOLAIR (omalizumab), an FDA-approved prescription medication for subcutaneous use that can help reduce allergic reactions to multiple foods that may occur after accidental exposure in people with IgE-mediated food allergies one year of age and up. While taking XOLAIR you should continue to avoid all foods to which you are allergic. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with food allergies, talk to your allergist and ask about XOLAIR. You can also find more information at XOLAIR.com. XOLAIR is one of several available treatment options for IgE-mediated food allergy and it may not be appropriate for all patients. What is XOLAIR?XOLAIR®(omalizumab) for subcutaneous use is an injectable prescription medicine used to treat food allergy in people 1 year of age and older to reduce allergic reactions that may occur after accidentally eating one or more foods to which you are allergic. While taking XOLAIR you should continue to avoid all foods to which you are allergic. It is not known if XOLAIR is safe and effective in people with food allergy under 1 year of age. XOLAIR should not be used for the emergency treatment of any allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. What is the most important information I should know about XOLAIR?Severe allergic reaction. A severe allergic reaction called anaphylaxis can happen when you receive XOLAIR. The reaction can occur after the first dose, or after many doses. It may also occur right after a XOLAIR injection or days later. Anaphylaxis is a life-threatening condition and can lead to death. Go to the nearest emergency room right away if you have any of these symptoms of an allergic reaction:· wheezing, shortness of breath, cough, chest tightness, or trouble breathing· low blood pressure, dizziness, fainting, rapid or weak heartbeat, anxiety, or feeling of “impending doom”· flushing, itching, hives, or feeling warm· swelling of the throat or tongue, throat tightness, hoarse voice, or trouble swallowing Your healthcare provider will monitor you closely for symptoms of an allergic reaction while you are receiving XOLAIR and for a period of time after treatment is initiated. Your healthcare provider should talk to you about getting medical treatment if you have symptoms of an allergic reaction. Please listen to the Important Safety Information throughout and stay tuned for additional safety information at the end of this podcast.
