“You can't handle the truth.” Join Ian & Liam for our 313th episode as we step into the pressurised courtroom, moral brinkmanship, and razor-sharp dialogue of Rob Reiner's A Few Good Men (1992). Button up the dress whites, take your seats, and prepare for a film obsessed with duty, power, and the stories institutions tell themselves to survive. This week we discuss: Aaron Sorkin's dialogue as a weapon — rhythm, repetition, and confrontation. Is this peak Sorkin, or the moment his style becomes unmistakably dominant? Tom Cruise as Lt. Kaffee — charming, evasive, underestimated. Is this Cruise's most interesting performance precisely because he starts behind the power curve? Jack Nicholson's Colonel Jessup — operatic, terrifying, magnetic. Does the film become his the moment he enters it? The courtroom structure — how the film drip-feeds information, builds pressure, and engineers one of the most famous climaxes in cinema history. The ethics at the heart of the story — where does responsibility lie: with the men who carried out orders, or the system that created them? Ian talks about criticisms of the ending and if they're reading the film correctly  We explores how masculinity functions in the film — honour, obedience, pride, and camaraderie The supporting cast — Demi Moore's steely professionalism, Kevin Bacon's moral slipperiness, and who almost got Kevin Pollak's role That scene — inevitability versus surprise. Does the famous monologue work because it's shocking, or because it feels unavoidable? The ending — justice served, or merely order restored? What actually changes once the truth is out? And finally, whether A Few Good Men is the Best Film Ever — or simply one of the most watchable, endlessly quotable courtroom dramas ever made. Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Read more about Project23 and partner with us as we teach every verse of the Bible on video. Our text today is Judges 19:16-23. "And behold, an old man was coming from his work in the field at evening. The man was from the hill country of Ephraim, and he was sojourning in Gibeah. The men of the place were Benjaminites. And he lifted up his eyes and saw the traveler in the open square of the city. And the old man said, 'Where are you going, and where do you come from?' He said to him, 'We are passing from Bethlehem in Judah to the remote parts of the hill country of Ephraim, from which I come. I went to Bethlehem in Judah, and I am going to the house of the Lord, but no one has taken me into his house. We have straw and feed for our donkeys, with bread and wine for me and your female servant and the young man with your servants. There is no lack of anything.' And the old man said, 'Peace be to you; I will care for all your wants; only, do not spend the night in the square.' So he brought him into his house and gave the donkeys feed. And they washed their feet, and ate and drank. As they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, worthless fellows, surrounded the house, beating on the door. And they said to the old man, the master of the house, "Bring out the man who came into your house, that we may know him." And the man, the master of the house, went out to them and said to them, "No, my brothers, do not act so wickedly; since this man has come into my house, do not do this vile thing. " — Judges 19:16-23 This passage offers a flicker of hope—an old man who shows compassion to strangers when no one else would. But even here, courage is mixed with compromise. He welcomes them in, yet his warning is chilling: "Only, do not spend the night in the square." The city of Gibeah, once belonging to God's people, has become so corrupt that hospitality has turned to hostility. The tragedy of Gibeah isn't just the wickedness of its men—it's the silence of its good ones. Evil thrives when the faithful grow fearful, when believers retreat instead of resist. The old man does what's comfortable, not what's courageous. He shelters the Levite, but he never confronts the culture. This same paralysis infects our world today. We see evil advancing—violence, perversion, confusion, and godlessness—but too often, we stay quiet. We fear rejection more than judgment, conflict more than compromise. We've become polite in the face of sin. But our silence in this time is not neutrality—it's surrender. When good men stay silent, evil speaks louder. When the righteous sit back, the wicked will take over. God is still calling his people to stand—to speak truth even when it costs, to show courage even when it's unpopular, to defend righteousness even when the world mocks. Don't just be kind—be courageous. Have courageous confrontations. Because courage changes the course of a nation. Gibeah would one day rise again under Saul as Israel's first capital—a reminder that when one good man steps up to lead with conviction, God can redeem even the darkest places. ASK THIS: Where are you choosing comfort over courage? What sin in your culture or circle have you been silent about? How can you confront evil with both truth and grace? What would bold obedience look like for you today? DO THIS: Replace fearful silence with faithful action—pray, post, or stand for righteousness where others won't. Lead by example in your home: confront sin lovingly, not passively. PRAY THIS: Lord, give me the courage to speak when it's easier to stay silent. Help me confront evil with both conviction and compassion. Let my words and actions bring light where darkness reigns. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Stand In Your Love."

This week, we honour the memory of a very good man as we reconvene to finally discuss a movie that had been in our on-deck circle well before this past week's tragedy -- a movie that fits very snuggly within our wheelhouse as a very Tom Cruise and When Harry Met Sally...-centric podcast, and we'll be up front about that because you can handle the truth. It's 1992's A Few Good Men, directed by Rob Reiner, written by Aaron Sorkin, and starring Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Pollak, J.T. Walsh, James Marshall, Wolfgang Bodison, Xander Berkeley, Noah Wyle, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Christopher Guest. Sorkin, adapting his own stage play, feels capable of keeping some of his most annoying lib tendencies in check than he is today (even if they do poke through in points), and Cruise and Nicholson both do a great job of making his dialog sound like they're coming out of the mouths of real people, which we know is no small feat. A great movie, and another example of Reiner's ability to play in any sandbox as a master of any genre he chose to take on, in this case a paranoid legal thriller. It's also been a minute since we last spoke, so we've got a lot of a theatrical field trips to report on, with reviews of Bugonia, Wake Up Dead Man!, The Running Man, Die My Love, Keeper, Predator: Badlands and Train Dreams. If you'd like to watch the movie before listening along to our discussion, A Few Good Men is not currently streaming or rentable in Canada, but you can purchase it on Amazon and YouTube, or find a good copy on VHS at the thrift, just like Hayley did. Other works discussed on this episode include LOST, Stranger Things, Best In Miniature, Materialists, Eddington, Freaky Tales, Glass Onion, Prey, A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion, and Freakier Friday. We'll be back some time in the new year talking about lord knows what, but keep an eye on our Instragram for all the latest. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!

Welcome back to another episode of Everymum the podcast, with me Aisling Keenan. I absolutely LOVE my guest this week, and I was somewhat self-conscious to be interviewing her because she's such a great podcast host herself. Laura Dowling, otherwise known as The Fabulous Pharmacist, has so many strings to her bow, she's an author, a podcaster like I mentioned and travels the country with her shows, teaching the women (and men!) of Ireland about vulvas, among other things, bringing fun and lightheartedness into topics that otherwise might feel taboo to openly chat about. What I was so interested to chat to her about, aside from her crusade to help women know and love their bodies, is her life as a mother of three teenage boys. She talks about trying to keep them fed, leaving them alone when they're killing each other, and hoping that they'll grow up to be good friends, partners and fathers. We talk about why 'dad guilt' doesn't seem to be a thing, even though women are wracked with guilt constantly, and how the most important thing to her is that her sons know they can always come to her with anything they need. It's hard not to be entertained by Laura, so I know this episode will entertain AND inform, and hopefully make you laugh too. Thanks so much for listening as always. Hosted on Acast. Most men are carrying far more than anyone realizes. Careers. Pressure. Marriage. Fatherhood. Expectations. Silent battles no one sees. And somewhere along the way, we started believing the lie that “real men” handle everything alone. But isolation isn't strength, it isn't noble or stoic. It's the slow erosion of a man's identity. In this episode of REBUILT, we're breaking down one of the most important truths a man will ever confront: you cannot fulfill the calling God placed on your life alone. Not as a husband. Not as a father. Not as a leader. Not as a man. Brotherhood isn't a luxury ... it's part of your design. It's something your mind, your nervous system, your spirit, and your purpose all depend on. I share the story of a moment in my life when two brothers stood with me at a ranch — one behind me, one in front — calling me into my own strength. It was the first time I felt seen not for what I could carry, but for who I was. That moment marked me. It showed me what true brotherhood is: not fixing a man, not rescuing him… but standing with him until he feels his own power again. We dig into the ancient history of men who fought and lived as unified forces — Spartans locking shields, knights bound by covenant, David's mighty men whose loyalty Scripture says made their faces like lions. Their strength didn't come from individuality. It came from brotherhood. Then we go into the neuroscience: Isolation activates the amygdala - your fear center - increasing anxiety, shame, reactivity, and emotional shutdown. But brotherhood literally stabilizes your brain. Studies from Harvard, Stanford, and the VA show that deep male connection lowers depression by up to 40%, strengthens marriages, increases resilience, boosts confidence, and extends lifespan. This episode will hit every man who's been carrying too much alone … and every man who wonders why he feels disconnected, overwhelmed, or exhausted despite “doing everything right.” If you've been silent, shut down, withdrawn, or holding your world together by yourself, this episode is your reminder: You were never meant to walk alone. God didn't design men for isolation. He designed us for mission, for calling, and for brotherhood. New REBUILT episodes drop every other morning at 6:30am CST. Share this one with a brother who needs it. Rise with brothers. Rise with courage. Rise rebuilt.

Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. The Cost of Things Clay points out the economy is going to be a central issue heading into the midterms and beyond. He also highlights President Trump’s first year in office, praising his administration’s achievements on border security and crime reduction. Clay underscores how Trump’s decisive actions have led to the most secure southern border in decades and dramatic crime declines in cities like Memphis, where murders are down 50%, assaults down 40%, and robberies down 60%. Nashville is also seeing historic lows in violent crime, reinforcing Trump’s “law and order” success story. Clay frames these wins within the EBC strategy—Economy, Border, Crime—that defined the 2024 election, noting that while border and crime issues have been largely resolved, the economy remains the key challenge heading into 2026 midterms. He candidly addresses lingering inflation concerns, rising consumer costs, and the political implications for Trump’s second year in office. She's Crazy! Clay dives into a discussion about a high-stakes congressional race in Tennessee’s 7th District, where Republican candidate Matt Van Epps faces Democrat Afton Bain. Clay warns listeners about Bain’s controversial past statements, including her disdain for Nashville, country music, and traditional family values, as well as her radical positions on gender and policing. He urges voters in Nashville, Franklin, Brentwood, and Clarksville to turn out for the December 2 special election, emphasizing that Democrats are pouring money into the race to flip a district Trump won by 20 points in 2024. Clay also tackles cultural flashpoints, criticizing Bain’s remarks about marriage and motherhood while advocating for expanded IVF support—a stance he credits President Trump for championing. The conversation explores broader cultural battles over family, ambition, and societal values, with listener calls adding personal perspectives. Ryan Girdusky Reads the Tea Leaves Data analyst Ryan Girdusky (host of It's a Numbers Game in the Clay and Buck podcast network) joins to break down early voting trends, turnout patterns, and what these signals might mean for the 2026 midterms. Ryan notes strong Democratic enthusiasm in special elections and shifting issue priorities, including healthcare, cost of living, and even AI policy, while reaffirming that immigration remains a strength for Trump despite media narratives. Where Are All the Good Men? Clay analyzes where the culture is on male and female relationships and where it all went wrong for women. It leads to a larger conversation about the difference between the sexes and how the Girl Boss era hurt women and became every man's fantasy. Even the greatest heroes of faith are still subject to human weakness. In this episode, Dr. John Neufeld examines King Hezekiah—one of Judah's most godly kings—who after being miraculously healed and witnessing incredible deliverance from Assyria, stumbles into pride when Babylonian envoys visit Jerusalem. Dr. Neufeld reminds us that sin's consequences can't always be undone, and that even faithful leaders must guard against complacency until their mission is complete. The Grand Vision: God's Story Through Isaiah: Isaiah is the second-most quoted book in the New Testament, yet many Christians have never studied it deeply. In this 10-message series, Dr. John guides listeners through this essential prophetic book, exploring Isaiah's 50-year ministry during one of Israel's most turbulent periods. From temple visions to confrontations with kings, from oracles against nations to prophecies of the coming Messiah, Isaiah reveals God's sovereignty over all history and His plan for the world through Jesus Christ.

In this episode, Charles and Dan unpack chapters four, five, and six of The Masculine in Relationship — and explore why so many men fall into the trap of becoming either strong-but-destructive or nice-but-ineffective. They dig into what it actually takes to embody the rare third option: a strong good man who leads with clarity, steadiness, emotional presence, and purpose. The conversation moves through the core foundations of masculine development: how purpose shapes direction, why reactivity erodes trust, what emotional safety really requires, and how structure frees the feminine to relax rather than brace. Charles and Dan get personal about their own patterns, the work men often avoid, and the uncomfortable moments that reveal whether you're reacting from old wounds or responding from grounded awareness. If you've ever wondered why certain dynamics repeat in your relationships — or what women are actually looking for when they say they want a man who “can lead” — this episode gives you the clarity, context, and challenge you need to step into a more integrated masculine expression.Support the show

What happened to godly masculinity? In this powerful kickoff to the Stand Firm and Act Like Men series, Pastor Joby Martin challenges the cultural narrative and calls men back to their God-given purpose. From Genesis to 1 Corinthians 16:13–14, we see that manhood isn't about muscles, money, or machismo — it's about being a prophet, priest, king, provider, and protector. God designed men to work with purpose, obey with courage, and love with sacrifice. But sin has distorted that calling, leading to passivity, confusion, and brokenness. This message is a wake-up call to rise up, reject the lies, and return to the design of the Creator. If you've ever wondered what it really means to be a man of God, this sermon is for you. “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.” – 1 Corinthians 16:13–14
