Make sure you know where your bluetooth is connected for this one. Steph Rogers joins me to discuss sexual fantasies, kinks, and boundaries. She answers how you can talk to your partner about sex - from what you like and don't like, trying fantasies and toys in the bedroom (or outside the bedroom, you do you), and what to do if you're feeling pressured by a partner. And don't worry, if you're doing things solo this Valentine's Day, we got you too. Happy Valentine's lovers! Tune in and have fun. Instagram: @ingloriousrbgpodcast, @robynbrookeee, @sexedwithsteph
It's an anniversary episode and we're having some fun with it. Inglorious RBG's honorary guest host joins me for a Q&A where we ultimately come to the conclusion that I'm getting TikTok. A huge thank you to everyone who's listened this last year, can't wait for you to hear what's coming.
Grab your mugs, we're spilling the anxie-tea on today's episode. I had the pleasure of speaking with The High Functioning Podcast's very own, Brittany Perlin, for an in-depth discussion on anxiety, seasonal affective disorder, or SAD, and panic disorder. Brittany explains how her diagnoses have contributed to her life in both negative and positive ways, and some of the main ways she tries to support herself when she feels the anxiety mosquito biting (this is a Big Mouth reference, which I wrongly call the anxiety monster on the episode). This leads us into a discussion on codependency. I share about a temporary, but tougher time in undergrad when I was diagnosed with panic disorder. We end the episode discussing dating a person with anxiety and the importance of knowing what you need when you could benefit from emotional support, and asking your partner how you can show up for them.
Happy New Year!!! The first episode of the year features some reflections from 2021, followed by some intentions, goals, and manifestations going into the new year. My guest, Jamie Wolfish, tells us about her accomplishments in 2021, from getting her own place, to making travelling a fun priority. We talk about life in a sorority, women supporting women, leaving a job you love, age differences in relationships, and what we're looking forward to, working towards, and working on in the upcoming year. On today's episode is the lovely Olivia Jones, or Liv. Liv has set out to be present and feel happy in every part of her life. We discuss the feeling, "happiness", and how you can boost your mood with external factors, as well as internal factors, in order to change your outlook. We also describe and give examples of the very pervasive terms: "toxic environment" and "toxic positivity". We hate on "good vibes only" and emphasize the importance of sometimes having to stare out the window when it's raining outside to bask in difficult moments. Liv gives great advice for incorporating joy into your every day life, especially when things don't go as planned or you feel like you're settling. The concept of settling (whether at a job, in a relationship, or lifestyle) is a hot one on this episode! Listen in for a better day in just 58 minutes :) instagram: ingloriousrbgpodcast twitter: ingloriousrbg
Ratchel, sorry, Rachel Williams joins me on today's episode to get to the root of why we loved drinking on family vacation so much, and why we don't get as loko anymore (for the most part). Rachel uses her master's of social work knowledge to explain the way in which our drinking habits have evolved. We talk about how amazing our parents are, getting drunk with a new partner, being with a pushy friend/partner, and being a good time sober. Enjoy! instagram: ingloriousrbgpodcast twitter: ingloriousrbg
Today's episode features content creator, Ryan Nisker. He gives us an inner look into the behind-the-scenes of social media, and what it's like to work with various artists and brands. Ryan explains what he's doing as a creative to bring something new to the hip-hop and rap scene. We talk about celeb encounters, being fashion nerds, and how our upbringing & culture impacts the way we present ourselves. Then we take a bit of a deeper look into men's mental health and grieving the loss of a parent, and friends . Ryan explains how he tries to be there for his guy friends, and how he opens up about his mental health with a partner. We end with some fears in dating/relationships fears & hopes for the future of our relationships. Like & follow us: @ingloriousrbgpodcast @robynbrookeee @niskrr
We're discussing the concept of closure on today's episode. How can you get “closure” if you feel like you didn't really get it from an ex or a former fling? Today's guest, Hailey Hoffman, shares how she got over a very spontaneous end to a six-year long relationship. We talk about getting back out there, being comfortable versus being challenged in a relationship; and I share a relationship lesson from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody that has stuck with me all these years. Lots of thoughts & tips on moving on and moving forward from feelings of guilt, sadness, anger, and the “what if's”!
On this week's episode, my longtime friend, Lish, and I are talking about the hilarious start to our friendship in undergrad - from our greatest nights out, to our best days spent in the library. Lish shares her hilarious first date story with her man, and we get into when it's right to set up two single friends. We also discuss some of the lessons we've learnt from being in long-term relationships, doing long-distance, being (& staying) in love, & being open to love again when things don't work out. And finally, we go back in time to share some of our fond memories of being ghosted so that Lish can share the line she wishes she'd used on those guys. @ingloriousrbgpodcast @robynbrookeee
On today's episode I boost my favourite show of the year (and pandemic), The White Lotus. Then one of my oldest friends, Ari (MD) joins me for a Bachelorette finale recap. We get serious discussing how change and challenge boasts self-exploration and discovery. As a psychiatry resident Ari describes how her personality & life experiences led her to her career; and we get into the topic of compatibility in relationships. The big finale of the episode - our opinions on our astrological signs compared to how we perceive ourselves. Are we believers in astrology? Do we truly embody our signs? Tune in to find out, have some fun exploring your zodiac, & let us know what you think! Instagram: robynbrookeee, ingloriousrbgpodcast Twitter: ingloriousrbg
Lots of recs this week! One of those, the novel "Why We Sleep" by Matthew Walker, sparked a conversation between myself and this week's guests, my friends, Ellie & Nicole. We discover the root cause of our social media problems -- MSN. Ellie shares why she took herself off Instagram during the pandemic. The big question we asked listeners and discussed on the episode is "do you believe your dreams have meaning?" We talk about some of Walker's research, the importance of sleep and dreaming, and share our own best and worst dreams (from parents turning into ghosts to being the next Bachelorette). The episode also includes 12 tips to better sleep - many of which the three of us are completely failing at. Tune in for some laughs and better zzz's. The guys of the Loud About Nothing Podcast, Sebastian & Robbie, join me to convince us why hot girl summer is forever; and that hot mess summer is now. Whatever HGS means to you, live it. We also talk about thirst traps, sliding into dms, dating apps vs. meeting & flirting in the wild, and messy university & post-pandemic experiences. Special mentions are made towards Juicy Couture tracksuits (they're back), High School Musical, "Driver's License" and Olivia Rodrigo, and The Cheesecake Factory as a prime date spot. Speaking with social worker, Hannah Lin, from the Hyphenated Nation podcast on how her hyphenated identity (dual identity) has impacted her growing up and in the workplace; as well as her mental health and how she defines herself. We discuss microaggressions and negative attitudes in our society and institutions; and explore ways to address microaggressions and indignities of stigmatized and culturally marginalized groups. Hannah and I have an in-depth conversation about our lowest moments and our mental health, specifically during times of change in our lives. We talk about the importance of self-exploration, reaching out for support from friends and family, therapyyy, and honouring who you are (the good, the bad; the things you love, and the things you're working on). If you've ever wondered what we talk about with our therapists, here's your chance to get in on some of the action. Enjoy! Instagram: ingloriousrbgpodcast Twitter: ingloriousrbg thehyphenatednation

Why do we have commitment issues? You've heard the question before. You've watched rom coms about it... So what's the deal?? On today's episode, comedian, TV writer, host of the Kinda Dating Podcast, & self-proclaimed ex-commitment-phobe, Natasha Chandel, joins me to discuss why she believes people are afraid of committing. We talk about coping with sh*tty dates, rejection, and breakups; getting yourself excited for a date; making your relationship "official"; and how to have better, kinder relationships with your partner. Have you ever backed away from sharing your feelings or opinions with someone due to a fear of judgement, rejection, or emotional harm? If so, give this episode a listen and see if my guest, Lani (MD) and I can help you re-examine that mindset. Today's topic of discussion is vulnerability. Psychologist, Brene Brown, argues that vulnerability is not about weakness, but rather, is an act of courage, realness, honesty, and risk, that drives innovation, creativity, change, love, and belonging. A longtime friend of mine, Lani, joins to share a personal story of vulnerability - speaking on being a cancer survivor at a public charity event (which was totally out of her comfort zone); and how being open has led her to being less fearful of judgement. We also bring it back to being a friendships, dating, and relationships and discuss how and why putting yourself in a vulnerable position leads to self-growth and being a better empathizer; and when we HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND putting yourself in a vulnerable position. Tune in for a personal, but relatable, episode :) Instagram: ingloriousrbgpodcast Twitter: IngloriousRbg
Calling all my independent (and dependent) women & men! My friend, Deborah, a teacher and leader in her community, is here to share how being brought up to be independent has been both advantageous to her career and relationships. First, we dive into her story moving to Canada from Venezuela during her adolescence, the "who am I?" and "what is my role?" stage of psychosocial development (hello, Erik Erikson's stages of psychosocial development). Deborah then discusses how she guides her students in being more confident and willing to take initiative in their work and life-skills. And the most juicy part... Deb and I have a conversation as two self-proclaimed independent people, who also accept the support of a partner (and sometimes depend on them for all kinds of love and support) when in a relationship; as well as why time is such a valuable thing you can give to anyone, but especially, your significant other. Enjoy :) Instagram: ingloriousrbgpodcast Twitter: ingloriousrbg Like, subscribe, and follow for more!
Inspired by a date who was adamant that you CANNOT get back with someone you previously had a relationship with... this episode is all about my friend, Rebecca, and her boyfriend's reconnection(s), and current relationship. While there are many reasons to leave a person and never look back, and while it's so important to grieve, heal, have fun, and move forward after a breakup, there are instances where two people once in love, never completely lose interest in one another, even after years of separation. This is one of those. This isn't an invitation to call your ex and tell them you miss them, this is a discussion about loss, pain, being true to yourself, taking risks, guarding your heart, and opening it again. Hey, crazier things have happened! Instagram: ingloriousrbgpodcast Twitter: ingloriousrbg Like, follow, subscribe :)
Whether you're finishing undergrad or grad school, or thinking of switching jobs at any point in life, finding work can be a tedious, tiresome process... and to make it even more depreciating, you might get a new job and end up feeling stuck or hating the environment or the work itself. In this episode, my guest, Emily and I, discuss how finding a job you're passionate about might not be the be all and end all. Emily explains why she left a job she was interested in, and how her graduate work ties into her new job. When should you quit a job that isn't working for you? What might be the key to contentment that lie outside of the job? Are you working to live, living to work, or figuring it out? Tune in to reflect and think about it all... If that just doesn't sound feasible, you're not alone... AND this one's for all of you! Whew, this one's got me feeling grateful. On this episode, I'm joined by my younger brother, Corey, to get into some deep, and hilarious, conversations. We're exploring the nature vs. nurture theory and how it influences everything from taste in food, to taste in men. Corey shares his story battling and combatting his anxiety when coming out to family and friends. On this episode, I'm joined by my friend, Sahil, who shares a wealth of important knowledge on saving & spending your money wisely, making more of it, and how to set yourself up for success in the professional world. *For far more than what it looks like! Happy International Women's Day! On today's episode, I'm joined by my close friend, Kenzie Coombe, to dive deep into negative self-talk and how that reflects on body image and self-worth. We discuss disordered eating, confidence, learning to love (or in some moments, accept) our appearance. We chat about the influence social media and external validation has during the process of shifting your mindset from a place of negativity to body image neutrality AND positivity. As humans, we regularly commit to work, our families, our friends, and our partners, but some times, the most difficult commitment we make is to ourselves - to love and honour who we are unconditionally. We share some of the things that have worked for us; and some ways we challenge intrusive negative thoughts. This episode is a reminder about all the important things your body does; and the role your mind & brain play, in the game of body acceptance. It is a reminder that you never fully know what someone is dealing with, no matter their size. It is also a reminder that you aren't alone if you are struggling with separating your self-worth from your appearance, and becoming confident in your own skin, and who you are.
