Today, we're talking about maturity: what it is, what it isn't, why it's important, when the process is complete. The Bible consistently reminds us that we are to grow up and mature into strong, solid Believers, but it also says that we should remain childlike in our faith. What does this tell us about what maturity looks like in the Kingdom of God? Every person has an internal personal codebook of standards, ethics, preference, and perspective. Each codebook is uniquely shaped by our individual life experience and makeup and most often, we don't even realize we have one. When it comes to relationships, we usually naturally assume that other people have the same codebook as we do…but they never do. This can easily create relational conflict and discomfort and cause breaks in connection big and small. In this episode, we're explaining personal codebooks, how to recognize them, and how to navigate them with the people closest to us with the goal of optimal relational health. ____ If you have thoughts or questions about this or any episode, or if you have a topic suggestion for a future episode, email us at lifeexchangepodcast@gmail.com. ____ If you're enjoying our podcast, we'd be so grateful if you'd rate and review the show! Jesus talks to His followers a ton about the topic of forgiveness. His final words on earth included forgiveness and He even includes it as part of His model prayer. In this episode, we talk about what forgiveness is and what it isn't, some roadmap from Scripture to walk us through the steps of forgiveness, and we discuss some other aspects, benefits, and dynamics of following the way of Jesus in this valuable area of the Gospel. ____ If you have thoughts or questions about this or any episode, or if you have a topic suggestion for a future episode, email us at lifeexchangepodcast@gmail.com. ____ If you're enjoying our podcast, we'd be so grateful if you'd rate and review the show! There can be a lot of talk in the church about denying oneself, which seems totally at odds with a world that loves all things self-centered. Where is the balance? Gossip seems to run rampant in our world and is often even promoted and encouraged. It is a seemingly harmless way to blow off steam and get that dopamine rush of feel good chemicals when we know something about someone and get to share it with others. Well, for the first time since we started this podcast, we are going to have to take a little break. Unfortunately, our third musketeer, Joel Hilton, is down for the count after an accident that led to some broken bones. :( He is currently on the road to recovery, but is not quite up to par to get back into the swing of things just yet. We appreciate your prayers for him and his family as they navigate his healing process. He is going to be okay, but it is going to take some time for the pain to subside, the bones to heal, and to get his mobility back up to speed. On this podcast, we talk a lot about valuing one another for who they are and what they bring to the table. For us, Joel brings not only such wisdom and perspective and levity to this show, but he is also our producer/engineer extraordinaire so rather than trying to piece together some episodes without him, we are going to press a short pause on weekly episodes and we'll be back as soon as everyone is ready. In the meantime, it's a great time to catch up with past episodes if you haven't already. You can still submit questions in advance to lifeexchangepodcast@gmail.com and as always, it means so much to us when you rate and review the podcast for us. Until next time, we love you, and we hope to talk to you real soon!
