Liberalism is in trouble. As a set of ideas, it has lost much of its historical authority in guiding public policy and personal behaviour. In this post-liberal climate, Russell Blackford asks whether liberalism is truly over. How We Became Post-Liberal: The Rise and Fall of Toleration (Bloomsbury, 2023) examines how Western liberal democracies became nations where traditional liberal principles of toleration (religious and otherwise), individual liberty and freedom of speech are frequently dismissed as outdated or twisted to support conservative policies. Blackford traces the lineage of liberalism from problems of toleration that emerged when Christianity triumphed in the late centuries of classical antiquity, with comparison to non-Western civilizations. The political and philosophical story culminates in the recent development – over the past 30 to 50 years – of post-liberal ideologies in the West. At each stage, Blackford discusses arguments for and against liberal principles, identifying why no argument to date has been totally successful in convincing opponents, while maintaining that liberalism's ideas and language are still worth saving. From campus wars over academic freedom to the Charlie Hebdo attack and the murder of Samuel Paty, this is an indispensable guide for anyone wanting to understand the why, what and how of the post-liberal world. Russell Blackford is a philosopher, legal scholar, literary critic based at the University of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. He is the author of Freedom of Religion and the Secular State (2012), Humanity Enhanced (2014), The Mystery of Moral Authority (2016), and Science Fiction and the Moral Imagination (2017). In 2014, he was inducted as a Laureate of the International Academy of Humanism. Morteza Hajizadeh is a Ph.D. graduate in English from the University of Auckland in New Zealand. Today, we're discussing the recent passing of Pope Francis. As a Protestant, I don't hold to Catholic doctrine, and I've had some serious theological issues with the papacy—but that doesn't mean I won't stop to reflect when someone steps into eternity. In this episode, I'm praying for Pope Francis' soul and hoping he had a deathbed conversion—because no one is beyond God's reach. I also hope Catholics choose a biblical pope next time, not one more interested in pleasing the world than honoring the Word. We'll talk about the things he did right—his care for the poor and moments of humility. But we'll also look at the dangerous things he got wrong:Promoting open borders that have devastated countries and erased traditionSaying all religions worship the same God (they don't)Claiming the human heart is good (the Bible says it's deceitful above all things)Ignoring original sin and the fallen nature of manThis is a respectful but honest take on a figure who meant a lot to many—but who, like all of us, needed Christ above all.--https://noblegoldinvestments.com/

Tired of struggling in life and business? Click here and I will reach out to you!! https://elliott247.com/gameplan-yt Get My ETA+ Training App For FREE https://elliott247.com/eta-ml?el=YTeta – Andy Elliott talks about why physical fitness is the ultimate sales tool and how to master and acquire it. At the end of the day, all clients want is one thing (and it's the same thing you want) - to be great. If a client sees you, and how you take care of yourself, and how you operate your life, and they go "DAMN, I want to be like you", then they will see that they can be taken care of by you as a pro. This is the ultimate sales tactic, MORAL AUTHORITY, and it comes by being a living example of human excellence. You don't want to miss this step if you want to give all you got in this life. -- If you don't know who I am, my name is Andy Elliott. I am the founder of The Elliott Group with my wife Jacqueline Elliott who is our CEO. Today, we have a 150 million dollar business, and we're on our way to a billion. If you don't believe you are qualified to have a big life...here is my story. At 18, I got into automotive sales and made a $1,700 commission on my first day. 19 years old, I made 225k in one year. 20 years old, I made my first 500k. The most I ever made before being promoted to a General Manager was 716k selling cars as a W-2 employee. As a GM, the most I made was 2.5 million in one year. In 2019 after 20+ years in the car business, my wife Jacqueline told me she learned to live without me and I decided I was built for more, was tired of settling and being "better than most" in all areas of life. God. Family. Physical. Mental. Business. I went PSYCHO in self development and totally re-created EVERYTHING in my life. Today, I live by example in everything that I do and my number one goal is to build the world's greatest leaders on planet Earth, and teach everyone how to sell, influence, and persuade, because NO money is ever made without sales. I see people everyday that have no idea what true potential is…well I do…And it's UNLIMITED! I am living proof of that! Imagine what your life would look like if you never had to worry about money again and your family was in a such a good place that if something ever happened to you they were taken care of because of the success you achieved and the person you became. If you want to make history and become a legend coaching with me, will make that happen guaranteed! I got your back for life, Andy Elliott

In particular, we ask about what it would mean for the state to be complicit in the behavior of criminal offenders and how that complicity might affect its standing to punish.
