Location: Bountiful, Utah Join Us for Worship: Sundays at 9:00 AM & 11:00 AM https://www.flourishinggrace.org/plan-your-visit Jesus, What Do I Do With My Money? | Matthew 6:19–34 | Benjer McVeigh In this message, Pastor Benjer continues our sermon series “Jesus, What Do I Do With…” by diving into one of the most commonly misunderstood and often uncomfortable topics: money. Preaching from Matthew 6:19–34, Pastor Benjer explores Jesus' words about treasure, worry, and trust, calling us not simply to financial responsibility—but to full surrender of our hearts. Key Scripture: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:21 Jesus speaks directly and powerfully about the role money plays in our lives—not because He's after our wallets, but because He's after our hearts. We all live under a vision for our lives—whether it's one the world has sold us or one that Jesus is inviting us into. The truth is, few things threaten to derail Jesus' purpose for your life more than the pursuit of wealth, possessions, and comfort. This sermon helps you reflect on the questions: • Who is your master? • Who do you trust? Jesus says you cannot serve both God and money. The call is not simply to budget better or save more—but to move from unbelief to belief in Jesus in every area, including finances. In this message, you'll hear: • Why Jesus talks about money more than almost any other topic • How your view of money reflects your trust in God • How the pursuit of “more” can suffocate the calling God has placed on your life • Why surrendering this one area might be the breakthrough your faith needs • How generosity, saving, and wise spending are spiritual practices of discipleship—not just financial strategies Through stories, Scripture, and honest reflection, this sermon reminds us that Jesus doesn't save us just from something—He saves us for something. He created us as His workmanship, with good works prepared in advance for us to walk in (Ephesians 2:10). But when our hearts are entangled with wealth, we miss out on the greater vision God has for our lives. Three Practical Next Steps: 1. Give away a percentage off the top – Not out of obligation, but to realign your heart with God's priorities. 2. Say “no” now to say “yes” later – Build savings and margin in your life so you can live wisely and generously. 3. Enjoy what God provides with gratitude – Celebrate His provision while remembering these gifts are tools, not gods. This is not about guilt or shame. It's about grace and freedom. Jesus invites you to trust Him in the area that may feel hardest to surrender—and promises that when you seek first the Kingdom, all these things will be added to you. Reflection Questions: • Have you ever considered that money might be more than just a resource—it might be a rival god? • What dreams or purposes might Jesus have for your life that are being crowded out by the pursuit of comfort or financial security? • Is there a step you need to take today to reorient your heart? For Anyone Struggling: If you've been through financial hardship or feel overwhelmed by money decisions, know you are not alone. Jesus cares deeply about your needs. He also offers a better path—one that leads to peace, purpose, and eternal significance. Whether you're just starting to follow Jesus or have been walking with Him for decades, this message is a call to deeper trust and greater surrender. Letting Go of Unrealistic Expectations and Trusting in God's Plan • Sunday Service To Give: www.ToddCoconato.com/give Website: www.PastorTodd.org So much of our emotional turmoil comes from unfulfilled, unrealistic expectations. We set up visions of what life should be, only to be met with disappointment when reality doesn't match our desires. The world tells us to “manifest” our dreams and to “follow our hearts,” but as Christians, we must surrender our expectations and align ourselves with God's will. His plan is higher, His ways are greater, and when we trust Him, we find peace. Today, we will explore how unrealistic expectations can lead to frustration and how, instead, we should anchor our hope in God's plan. 1. Unrealistic Expectations Lead to Discontentment Proverbs 13:12 (NKJV) “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.” 2. Our Ways Are Not God's Ways Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV) “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” 3. Seeking First the Kingdom Changes Our Expectations Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” 4. Be Content in Every Season Philippians 4:11-12 (NKJV) “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.” 5. Letting Go of Control Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” 6. God Works Everything for Good Romans 8:28 (NKJV) “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” 7. Let God Be Your Satisfaction Psalm 37:4 (NKJV) “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” 8. Surrender Brings Rest Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV) “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” 9. God's Plans Are Good Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” 10. Fix Your Eyes on Eternity 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NKJV) “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” Unrealistic expectations lead to frustration, but trust in God leads to peace. Instead of focusing on what we think should happen, we must align ourselves with His will. When we surrender our plans, let go of control, and trust that His ways are higher, we find true joy, contentment, and rest. Let today be the day you release your expectations and embrace God's perfect plan for your life. His promises never fail, and His ways are always good. CCLI: 21943673

Transforming Perspectives | Profound, is the pursuit of man to find himself but is in actuality, a search of one's inner self to find the sovereignty of God. The Bible distinguishes the dominion of God, the Kingdom as the evidences of his great supreme rule over all. The Kingdom of God is more than heaven the destined hope, man often correlates with dying. Indeed heaven is where which the presence of God inhabits, however, the Kingdom consists the manifestations of the power of God, operating in our lives and in the world. Jesus Christ came affirming John the Baptist's proclamation to repent because the Kingdom of God is near, marking his entrance as the King of the Kingdom in the earthly realm, and retorts of our need to become like willed of the lilies, and sparrows which give no thought of their lives, solely depending upon God's providence.Mark and Luke describe accounts of Jesus's command over nature, as well as the spiritual realms of the underworld, explicating the Kingdom as having seen or experienced miracles of healing and deliverance of bondages. The people of Israel's hope was founded in the promised of restoration of the Kingdom which Jesus's answers befuddled the spiritual leaders, exhorting the Kingdom as not of this world. Conveying further, the Kingdom becomes visible as the children of God growing in faith and dependency upon him wherein obtaining rest for their souls in his Kingdom, eternally.Biblical Principle |Everything we need is found in the Kingdom, the operation of the Sovereign Providence of Almighty God.Scripture References |Luke 13:18-19; Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it. Hey friend! From my heart to yours- let's talk about what to do when you go through a season where you feel fear/anxiety/concern is consuming you. I pray this blesses you!
Worship is why we are here. When God made us, he created us in his image to worship him. Yet, fallen in Adam, we will not worship God rightly unless God makes us worship him rightly.Indeed, this is a major point in Genesis 4. The chapter begins with worship, as Adam's children bring sacrifices to God. And the chapter ends with worship, as Seth calls upon the name of the Lord. And in between, the story of Cain's family line is also about worship . . . if we have eyes to see. This Sunday, we will see how Cain's city-building project is one that exalts the glory of man, not the glory of God. Likewise, the music that fills Genesis 4:17–24 is a testimony to the way humans will sing praise to what they love most. And unless and until God intervenes and gives them a new song, they will sing praises to themselves about themselves.Even for the church of Jesus Christ, we need the grace of God and the truth of his Spirit to lead us to worship God rightly and righteously. And more, we need the Word of God to teach how we are to worship God. Wonderfully, we have already been taught that worship centers on Jesus Christ and is empowered by the Spirit of Truth. Because Father has given us the Son and the Spirit, we can gather in confidence that our praises will be accepted and pleasing to him. And in that confidence, we will gather for worship on Sunday. To prepare for Sunday, please read Genesis 4, Psalm 33, and John 4. These passages come together to teach how to worship God truly. And on Sunday, as the Lord allows, I will look forward to gathering with you to do just that. For His Glory and your joy in Jesus,Pastor David--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Discussion & Response Questions (Genesis 4:17 – 26)What have we seen so far in Genesis 4? How does the place of the story inform the context? What about the people (i.e., the two seeds)?Where does Genesis 4:17–24 take place? How does that inform our understanding of the passage? What does the building of a city indicate? In Scripture, who is renowned for building cities (see Gen. 10:11; 11:4–8; Exod. 1:11; Num. 13:22)? Who is renowned for building altars (Gen. 8:20; Gen. 12:7–8; 22:9; 26:5; 35:7; Exod. 17:5; 24:4)?If city-building is an evidence of unbelief, what do we discover about the other products invented / created in Genesis 4?What does the building of a city suggest about the people in Cain's family? What do their names indicate? What is the story of Lamech? In what ways does this serve as a warning to us?Compare the teaching of Jesus in relationship to Lamech (Matt 18:21-22). What do you notice? What is the Christian ethic when it comes to revenge and justice? Consider Romans 12:17-13:4.The passage finishes with a return to Adam, Eve, and Seth. What does it mean to call upon the name of the Lord? And how does the wickedness of Lamech relate? What do we learn about worship in Genesis 4? And how should we prioritize our lives accordingly? What are you building? And where are you putting your trust?

291. Loving Others, Seeking First The Kingdom - Matthew 5-6 by David Grams
We reach the climax of our week today with the final episode of the 5 in 5: Seeking first the kingdom of God. Seeking first the Kingdom of God is this: rightly prioritizing, longing for, and desiring oneness with the kingdom of God and coming into agreement with His standard of righteousness. It is to seek after these things so much so, that you become them. It is being chiefly concerned with seeking His mind, His will, His way. What is one way that we can do this? By elevating His purposes above our own. Our earthly pursuits should not overshadow our highest purpose of seeking first the kingdom of God. When we seek God's kingdom and righteousness in sincerity and truth, we can rest knowing that we will be graciously rewarded by God as He in turn provides for our natural and basic needs. Scriptures: Acts 4:12 1 Kings 3:1-14 Matthew 6:33 John 3:16 In this episode: - A word of caution about becoming passive about the things of God or time spent in the Word. - What "having a heart after God's own heart" looks like. - King Solomon's example of seeking first the kingdom of God and all things being graciously added to him by God as a result. It's a Wrap! Well, we did it again! I hope you found great value in the 5 in 5 this year. Continue to feast on what the Lord is saying. May your mind be sober, your heart soft, and your feet planted as you seek first the kingdom of God this year. Missed episode 42 "Forsaking in Order to Win"?
