We are seeing that there is a great divide happening in our society. This divide is NOT between right and left, or sleep and awake, but between those who consume and those who create. While absorbing information is important for growth, you also need to use what you learn to create and share with others. Ask yourself: What’s the ratio of time that you consume versus the time you create on a daily basis? Unfortunately, many of us spend our time reacting to the things that happen around us instead of using our energy to create. Start your day with creating something. In this episode, Teresa shares a story with Rick about her dear friend who sustained a spinal cord injury that ultimately changed her life. Although paralyzed from the neck down, due to her positive attitude despite odds against her, she lived a fulfilling life and became a role model for Teresa and for many others.   We all need to develop skills to overcome any and all obstacles- no matter how big they are. Every one of us has the potential to improve from our current circumstances, and achieve more. Start by being grateful for everything you have in your life, both good and bad (since the bad things can often be lessons to learn from). Develop a practice around being present to your life as it is right now, without regard to mistakes or circumstances in your past. Embrace life and live full out and positively.

In this episode, Teresa and Rick talk about the ten MAJOR decisions people make in life, and how to view those as a punch card. Think about the top ten decisions one makes over the course of their life, and the consequence of when we choose poorly. Important decisions like: Who you have a child with? What career educational track you choose? What career did you choose? Where you live? Who you marry? All of these are life-alterning decisions and we often don't take them that seriously. We must realize early that the decisions we make now can cause a lifetime of fulfillment, or a lifetime of disappointment. Make a plan for your life and focus on making big decisions that not only align with your plan, but cause a chain reaction for the smaller decisions to reach your goals.

Life can be much easier when you have some rules in place that guide your decisions.  These simple rules can save you massive drama later in life.  In this episode, Rick sits down with Teresa to discuss streamlining your life, so your decisions become more consistent and aligned with your objectives. Decide all the areas of your life that aren't excelling like you’d like them to. From there,  create rules you can follow, which will make those areas more successful.  Start applying the rules immediately and you will quickly see a difference.   Teresa and Rick have been applying rules-based decisions for their entire adult life. It's easy to continue once you get started. Remind yourself this to keep accountable: When I break a rule today, I create 10 more days of work later.  We all know how painful breaking rules can be. People rarely make the same mistake twice- they make it 20 or 30 times. Implementing the rules-based decision making strategy can simplify your life.

It is important to be willing to fail in life. The more you fail, the more the odds are of you being successful and fulfilled. In this episode, Rick and Teresa talk about the feeling of accomplishment, and how you should always play life on the field, not in the stands. Too many people are just sitting back, waiting for life to happen to them, rather than having a learner’s mind or being open to learning new information. Don’t let life pass you by- get on the field!

The goal of any life should be to live a well-lived and fullfilling life, such that, when one looks back, they see many accomplishments in accordance with a pre-established set of consistent values. This type of life leaves a legacy for all to see. In this episode, Rick and Teresa discuss how chasing happiness is too short term. What you really want is fulfillment, NOT happiness. You want a long-term focus in your life. When you have this long-term focus, it brings more fullfillment, which is not the same as short-term happiness. A fullfilling life is a consistent life, and a less chaotic life. And...in the end of your life, you are fully spent when you die.

We have three MASSIVE institutions governing our lives and teaching us and our families how to think and what to think. The big idea is that "Self Governance" if the most effective way to live. We all know that Bigger is not always Better. In this episode, Rick and Teresa talk about why we need to seek independent sources of information and not always trust big media that is blasting its way into our homes and lives. These big entities exist to sustain themselves. Be very careful who you trust. Get your information from your own perspectives. Take total and complete responsibility for who and what enters into your homes, your businesses, and into your ears. Teach this to your family. Take the time to plan how you will cut the non-values-aligned crap out of your life.

In this episode, Teresa and Rick talk about how our culture of consumerism and keeping up with the Jones's has been costly. The American culture has evolved into a culture in which we over-consume and we don't focus on saving money. We now have opportunities to build real wealth by investing more wisely, and by spending far less than we earn. The 100-Year Savings solution is a counter-culture idea that helps people live a great life AND have the ability to create real wealth. The first step is to develop and be OK with, a counter-culture mindset. Reorganize your finances to be sure that each time you get paid, at least 20% of your savings is going into a long-term, low-risk investment product.
