It's me again. The same me. The year is different, we write (type?) different numbers in the date line now but the numbers in my heart remain unchanged. Time isn't real after all. We made it up so that Henry Ford could invent the 40 hour work week and make us all sad (boo). Anyway, Henry aside, this year is going to be a good one. Why, you may ask. Why not? I respond to you. All I can do is have a good time and hope for the best. So I will. This year I will finally create my HoLLa PatroL and expose my deepest feelings to the world. The world in this case, is my good friend Jeff. Shout out to Jeff. What a guy. When I first met Jeff over 20 years ago, he had short hair. As our friendship grew, so did his hair until it became a flowing mane draped across his back. As a child that was too afraid to have big hair, I marveled at Jeff and his ability to grow hair. We were friends outside of Jeff having long hair. That isn't the most important part of the story. Jeff cut his hair off and we are still friends. Going places is sometimes hard. Asking for directions is cool. Doing things can be confusing. If you ask people how to do them, you are cool now. There are a lot of things that are worse than trying to do something without really knowing how and being scared to ask clarifying questions about instructions or what is even going on because you think that you need to somehow already know everything there is to know about the task at hand. Hey Fellas, we occupy our brains with a lot of stuff. Sometimes they just need a break. When I am saying do nothing. I mean let your brain do what it wants. Go take a walk. Listen to some birds. Cook something. Look at a tree. You know what I mean. My brain is in constant need of a break after I feed it so many things nonstop all day. Working from home is great but also kind of rough in that regard. Aside from just work I will usually have some sort of background noise on whether it be a show, music or a podcast. It is important to become comfortable with silence and the things that your brain cooks up all on its own.
