Happy Monday! Welcome back to my mythology series on the podcast. Today I look into conservation and climate change in Norse Mythology. This one is a bit different than the Greek Mythology episode; instead of focusing on one god or goddess, we are looking at the Ragnarok myth and its connection to what will happen with climate change if we don't make a change. The Norse were intimately connected with the world around them and it shows in their myths. Episode 7: A Summer As Camp Counselors; Part 2!Welcome back to Oceans of Hope! We are back with my friends from summer camp. Gabrielle had to leave about halfway through our conversation, so this is the second half in which Kalyn, Tristen, and I tell some stories from the summer and talk about our goals for the future. We may or may not be collaborating on scientific papers in the future! For anyone who is wondering about the alligators and crocodiles in Florida, they do both live here. American Alligators are considered Least Concern in their conservation status while American Crocodiles are considered Vulnerable. These crocodiles are not the same as the Saltwater crocodiles (found in Australia) that I was envisioning when we were having this conversation. A few weeks ago, I went to a protest to speak out against a shark fishing tournament that was happening here in south Florida (shout out to @CadeSavesSharks for bringing it to my attention). I had a really wonderful time getting to add my voice to a cause that I am passionate about, plus it was my first time protesting! In today's episode, I talk a bit about the background of the tournament that I was protesting, with a few good shark facts, as well as how you can add your voice to causes that you are passionate about. Protesting was really fulfilling for me and I think we should all be adding our voices to causes that we believe in whatever ways we feel comfortable. Hello everyone and welcome back to Oceans of Hope! I am so excited about today's episode! Over Memorial Day weekend I went to a music festival called BottleRock. I came back home really inspired to record and work towards my different goals for myself and the environment. Today's episode is inspired by that trip and the importance of having balance in our lives. Not only in balance important for our lives in general and in particular when we want to continue to work towards a climate solution. Having balance in your life helps you to be able to continue to have a lasting impact on your goals and avoid burnout, so it is essential and I am so glad that I am talking about it at the beginning of the podcast! Episode 1: Sustainability is a lifestyle! Welcome to the Oceans of Hope Family!!! I am so excited to be here with you all and work on living our best sustainable lives. Today's episode is a little bit of me introducing myself and sharing with you my inspiration for this podcast. So why Oceans of Hope? I want to talk about all of the little things and big things that we can do in our regular lives to be more sustainable and live the best lives that we can for ourselves and for the environment. By changing our lifestyles and incorporating more sustainable practices into our regular lives we can support the environmental movement from the bottom up in a way that feels doable and hopeful. And by having culture that talks about sustainable practices in the same way that we talk about our morning routines I hope to make these changes in our lives feel like any other lifestyle choices that we make all the time!
