Voices In My Head (The Rick Lee James Podcast) Episode 576 - Phil King - Miscarriages PHIL KING OFFERS HOPE AMIDST LOSS WITH POIGNANT ‘MISCARRIAGES' NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Unveiling one of his most emotive and powerful singles yet, acclaimed singer/songwriter and worship leader Phil King bows “Miscarriages” today. Written and produced by King with children's choir and string arrangements by Tyler Michael Smith, “Miscarriages” aims to bring comfort to grieving parents while serving as an important reminder that earthly loss is only temporal. King, a father of twins, was moved to pen the poignant ballad upon witnessing multiple families in his own circle experience the heartbreak of miscarriage. “After grieving with some good friends who lost a child in the womb, we learned that another couple was pregnant with twins," he explains. "We were overjoyed to celebrate with them, but then my wife received a call with more devastating news—they had lost their ‘Baby B,' a reference to the second child conceived in a twin pregnancy. In our journey of becoming twin parents, ‘Baby B' would have been our son. Hearing this news and imagining the pain of losing our own son is what set me on course to compose ‘Miscarriages.'” “After I wrote the song, I sent it to both couples with the intent of bringing comfort to them,” King shares. “Along with their reactions, and after playing it for a few others, I decided that with all the other millions of stories of miscarriages out there and so few songs on the subject, this one needed to be available for anyone to hear.” He adds, “In Heaven, families are reunited every day. My hope is that ‘Miscarriages' reassures parents with the truth that their baby is not actually lost. Rather, their child is safe in Heaven with Jesus, waiting for them on the other side of eternity. I hope this knowledge will prevail in the hearts and minds of people who have struggled with the grief of miscarriage as they listen.” A pro-life advocate, King performed his anthem “Not Forgotten” with GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter Francesca Battistelli before 20,000 people at Focus on the Family's 2019 “Alive From New York” gathering. Featuring 4D ultrasound footage projected on screens in Times Square, the event underscored the undeniable scientific evidence that a baby in the womb is fully human, fully alive and fully worthy of protection. “Miscarriages” is King's second single of the year, arriving on the heels of “Heal Our Land.” A fervent prayer for America which released prior to last month's Presidential Inauguration, the song is a plea for peace, spiritual transformation and personal revival in the wake of change, tension and new beginnings. ABOUT PHIL KING Singer/songwriter, recording artist and worship leader Phil King is passionate about composing and sharing music that points people to Jesus. His acclaimed songs include the multilingual anthem “So Worthy,” which has been embraced by audiences around the world, as well as "Psalm 23 (I Am Not Alone)," a duet with Dove Award-winning worship leader Meredith Andrews. King has also written and co-penned songs for such artists as Matt Redman, Leeland, Micah Tyler, Christine D'Clario and Rita Springer, and he has been featured on recordings and at live events with Lauren Daigle, Michael W. And most importantly - when will we get over it? Lastly, don't worry, we explain in-depth our long absence from the podcast and want to give a massive thank you to all our loyal listeners! Tune in for some laughs, stories and hopfully a little closure.

Partly because it's time, but partly because they had no child care this week. If you found last week's episode to be slightly chaotic, buckle up listener, because you're in for a real treat. Asking the tough, hard-hitting questions, Heather and Kalyn dig deep to identify how our children feel about our jobs, what they think we actually do for a living and what NAR actually stands for. For those of us in the real estate industry, we are all guilty of a few cliche marketing tricks now and then. Emailing our clients to set back their clocks for daylight savings time? Been there. Proudly posting a "SOLD" post minutes after the check hits your account? Done that. But how far have we come and where has the evolution of marketing, client retention and new business trends brought us to? Hosts Kalyn and Heather discuss the trends in an industry that is not only evolving but upping the game in the world of social media, event strategy, gift giving and providing an overall experience for our best clients. Of course, the personal stories will keep laughing as Heather recaps a failed client appreciation party, Kalyn admits to having a full blown identify crisis in the world of real estate and more.
Have you ever wondered what it's like inside the brain of a real estate professional? Welcome to the circus, kids. Kalyn and Heather are personally very representative of our current real estate market - tired, frustrating, confusing and exhausted. Just adding in a nice, short sweet episode to get you through the week, we're highlighting everything from Kalyn's jury duty notice (you can't make this stuff up), Heather's single foray into commercial real estate, the hell on earth that is Spirit Halloween and more. Join us for some laughs to cope with your Halloween Hangover.
So, what's your sign? We're jumping on the astrology band wagon this episode to answer a single burning question: Did we choose the right career path based on our astrological signs? Knowing truly nothing about the art of reading the stars, Kalyn and Heather outsourced this question to a knowledgable and avid astrologer who gave us all the insight on our sun, rising and moon signs to identify our strengths within real estate, how our signs affect our working relationship and maybe eve some what fantastical - what does the future hold? All in the name of fun for our favorite spooky month of October, listen in to learn a little more about your two favorite REALTORS and why their birthdays set them up for this crazy career. Also of note: Heather breaks into a gym, Kalyn found the perfect pumpkin patch, why we're trademarking "Disappointed at Diseyland" and more!

SCREAMING SILENCE, 17min., UK Directed by Kalyn Elizabeth Wood, Hal Waghorn In the hauntingly enigmatic and dialogue-free short film, ‘Screaming Silence', Elizabeth, a young woman in the aftermath of a traumatic event, navigates her world through a haunting soundscape of everyday noises, which ‘peoples' her world and forces her to face her reality of circumstances and her fear of reaching out for help. As the audience intimately experiences her journey, Elizabeth's silence becomes a bittersweet force, echoing the profound emotional depth that empowers her to move forward in an altruistic twist of an ending. https://www.screamingsilencefilm.com/ Get to know filmmaker Kalyn Elizabeth Wood: This film first started out as my dissertation project for my masters program in London. I was the only one in my class who was doing a digital piece. I knew when beginning to write my piece that I wanted to examine women's relationships, mainly womens relationship to trauma, sexual assault, loss, isolation and also to dive a little into the mother-daughter relationship dynamic. The film's first iteration was completely different from its final iteration that it is today and to be quite honest I am glad I went the route that the film is now rather than what it was ‘supposed' to be. It challenged me and pushed me to places I had never been before as a performer intrinsically, technically, and emotionally. What started out as a quest to fulfill or rather rewrite my story as a gift to my mom and it then became something in singularity. From women, to women. A singular and multifaceted relationship with trauma, the aftermath, loss, isolation and more importantly silence. I investigated the notion of: the power of female silence in films through the lens of trauma. I want anyone who watches this film to feel as though they are allowed in Elizabeth's world to experience and observe her life in that present moment. I want people to be inspired by the lack of Elizabeth's voice to find their own voice. To open up and out and maybe even scream. Whether you are purchasing a new home in all it's glory or a 100-year old gem in a historic neighborhood, the inspection will not only be necessary, it will find flaws with your soon-to-be home sweet home. Today I'm opening up about a requested topic; the invisible pressures felt by all kinds of women and mothers. Whether it's the pressure to say young and beautiful, the pressure to have children, or if you do, the pressure to still stay your same old self, the pressure to be all things at all times and to do it all perfectly. I don't have all the answers, but I try to shed some light and my own personal experience on the topic.
