This episode is taking you back...WAY BACK! Scarlet takes us on a journey alllll the way back to the time of Mycenean Greece - a short linguistics lesson to get us started, and then she compares and contrasts the aspects of the religion of "old old Greece" versus what we normally think of as ancient Greece.. Learn what was the same, learn what was different! Both are kind of surprising, with deities that you may be familiar with having different qualities than what you were taught to be their traits. Fascinating topic and a real learning opportunity - so much to find out about everyone's favorite gateway drug into the occult! School's back in session, y'all, take notes!

The Helium Boys are back from the road! Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino return to the remote studio to break down USC finally winning a Big Ten road game outside Los Angeles with Saturday's 33-17 victory over Purdue. It marked USC's first win in the Eastern Time Zone since 2012. Shotgun spends his 'Two-Minute Drill' discussing the unique rain delay that caused this game to be delayed more than three hours and the vintage drainage system at Ross-Ade Stadium that led to a dry field. Chris uses his time to praise the USC fans that made the trek to West Lafayette and finally got to see a Trojan win on the road after struggles last year. The podcasting duo then break down the positives and negatives with a hearty "Stock Up/Stock Down" segment, discussing among other things USC's three interceptions and the celebration of the most notable one along with the impact the tight ends are having. The pass rush that produced 31 pressures and a run game that got stronger as the game are also discussed. In the second half of the show, the Helium Boys dive in to a preview of this weekend's late-night matchup with Michigan State (3-0). Michigan State is currently No. 69 in the ESPN Football Power Index with a projected win total of 5.5. They also answer your questions, fielding inquiries about USC's offensive line through the first two games, which commits from 2026 they would add to this team, the secondary and ranking a few Greek mythology movies. Relax and get sleepy with the myth of Virgo from Greek Mythology. Walk beneath the quiet sky of the Golden Age, where myths breathe between the stars. In this book club chat, we explore Greek Mythology through the story of the witch Circe. Madeline Miller has offered us a beautiful retelling of a character who may have been dismissed as terrible and without feeling. She revives her into a character who draws deep sympathy as she grapples with loneliness and isolation after being cast away to the island of Aiaia. We also discuss how this novel—much like Soldier Sailor—portrays the challenges that can accompany motherhood. Circe unfolds with the energy of an adventure story. For those well-versed in Greek myths, it feels like a return to familiar ground; for others, it reads like an exciting new tale. Either way, the novel is beautifully woven together, much like the tapestries Circe creates at her loom—works of art that symbolize her resilience, her storytelling, and the power of work as a means to create and move through difficulty. Also if you've been waiting for us to choose a book that ends happily, this might be the book for you!

In this episode of Sole Sisters, Elise and Alice embrace the weird, wacky and wonderful – venturing into Greek mythology, horoscopes and whether you can catch influenza A from aquatic birds. There hasn't been much running on both sides, but there's been some good trauma bonding, and you best believe it, there's still plenty to talk about. They cover their chaotic experience staying at the “Pink Pussy Palace” for marathon weekend on the Gold Coast, which was all glitz and jet skis and potential bed bugs. They recap their friend Jess' marathon race experience including a hearty carb load and a vodka cruiser at the 41k mark. The fallout of that trip was a big crash and burn for AB who was smacked down with sickness. But she's recovering just in time to do another unhinged ultra relay in the US. No there are no typos in the title, that's how "Labours" is spelled in this instance and the Greek pronunciation is HERA-CLES, cause the dude was named after Hera, who was actually not his mother, far from it. Daddy Zeus did was Zeus gon' do and sexed up a mortal woman disguised as her husband, she got pregnant, Hera got pissed and Heracles was born into the Greek World with a target already on his back. Now we should preface this with a disclaimer, this ain't Walt's Hercules, I mean that movie is a banger but the real story of Heracles would be a hard NC-17 rating. The 12 Labours are pretty much the story of Heracles' life, all his myths and stories come from what happened while he was crossing things off his task list. But why was he doing these mythological honey-do's instead of chillin' on Olympus? Well that all comes back to Hera and the instant she destroyed his life and set a path before him to possible redemption. Alright enough talk let's get into it.... Support the show

In this captivating episode of Mythlok, we delve into the myth of Aeolus, the legendary Keeper of the Winds in Greek mythology. As the master of one of nature's most unpredictable forces, Aeolus held a unique position among gods and mortals alike. Entrusted by Zeus to control the chaotic gusts that stirred seas and skies, Aeolus became both a guardian of calm and a harbinger of storms. His story, most famously told in The Odyssey, shows just how pivotal his role was in guiding — or misguiding — the fate of mortals.Host Nitten Nair takes you through Aeolus's complex family lineage, his symbolic connection to nature, and his reimagining in modern literature, science, and media. From being labeled a “windbag” in James Joyce's Ulysses to lending his name to scientific terms like “Aeolian processes,” Aeolus continues to swirl through our collective consciousness. His children founded dynasties, his winds shaped destinies, and his mythology blurred the line between human wisdom and divine power.Whether as a mortal king, divine figure, or metaphor for humanity's struggle with the elements, Aeolus remains a powerful symbol of control, chaos, and the eternal dance between order and nature. Join us as we uncover the legend, the legacy, and the lingering questions surrounding this ancient master of the winds. This episode will leave you with a fresh perspective on how mythology still influences the world around us — from sand dunes to starlight.

Why do bottoms always die in Greek mythology? If you're a fan of Greek myth, you know the gods love to act like humans: they love, they fuck, they fight...they throw dinner parties. But they also love to kill us. When gods show up on Earth, it typically means someone's about to get pregnant or dead, real quick. (Or both.)And the pattern holds for the gay Greek myths. (With admittedly fewer pregnancies carried to term.)Zeus and Apollo never seem able to keep their mortal boyfriends alive, while demigods like Herakles and Achilles also find it tricky to maintain their lovers' pulses. Why is this? What's going on psychologically, historically, narratively, and yes, erotically, when the ancients were sang of so much LITERAL twink death in their myths?Join Bash and Liv Albert, renowned Greek myth expert and host of the Let's Talk About Myths, Baby! podcast this week as they discuss:Herakles and Hylas being afraid of women (and the bottomless depths of ancient Greek misogyny)Apollo, the god of being a total DICK all the time, and Hyacinth, a beautiful youth slain in a totally avoidable "frisbee tragedy"Achilles and Patroclus, the famed comrades-at-arms, who die for one another in most toxic fashionYou can follow Historical Homos for more on our Instagram and TikTok, and you should sign up to our newsletter too, if you care about gay people at all.Written and hosted by Bash.
