In this 2-part episode, Landon and Lauren discuss the first of three taboo topics that people often avoid: money. The duo examines the lack of positive money management habits many Black people have and the psychological influence money has on one's perception of their self-worth. Lauren and Landon offer tips on how to increase your credit score, save for a rainy day, and what NOT to do when you finally get some money. For some reason, there is this reoccurring theme of now that trump is out we can "get back to the America we know" the only thing is..The america we know wasn't an America that was fair all. Speaking of fair, to say that the way that man manipulate religion can be evil is an understatement. Anxiety that was further heightened as a result of the president's antics. Luckily, as the election comes to a close, it seems his reign is as well. As former Division I athletes Landon and Lauren know a thing or two about navigating college athletics. Both tell their individual experiences and highlight the differences in attending a PWI and HBCU. From highs like forming lifelong bonds with teammates; to lows like throwing up on their coach's couch (we won't say who). The duo dives into the recruiting process, offering tips to young athletes on committing and embracing their platforms. College is fun as an athlete so enjoy it... responsibly, of course.

2020 has been rough. With a full-blown pandemic, racial inequality, and the loss of prominent figures like Kobe, John Lewis, and Chadwick Boseman... rough is an understatement. Black people collectively mourned this year and the recent loss of our superhero left many ready to cancel the rest of 2020. Lauren and Landon discuss the important role Boseman played, the power of representation and storytelling, and how much you can receive by simply asking. We discuss the backlash received when women embrace it for their own pleasure rather than for male entertainment (oops, did we step on your ego?). Over the past month, we received an overwhelming outpour of support and encouragement for the podcast. With so much support, however, fear seeped into our thoughts (unknown to each other). These fears came out while recording this episode. We felt it was important that people hear us talk through vulnerabilities together and practice exactly what we preached: leaning into fear. The "strong Black woman" stereotype empowers Black women but also neglects one important detail: it doesn't give them space to be anything else. Welcome to Southern Mosspitality! A brand new podcast hosted by siblings Landon and Lauren about the Black millennial experience in America.
