Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes Reliable scooper Jeff Sneider claims Marvel Studios is actively looking for an actor to play T'Challa/The Black Panther, replacing the late Chadwick Boseman who passed away in 2020. According to Sneider, the studio's replacement of Boseman is only due to the fact that the MCU is working within the Multiverse currently. In related news, when asked during an interview about a dream role, Wicked star Cynthia Erivo said she would “really want to play Storm,” to “uncover how grand she is,”. Lastly, an OG villain is returning to the MCU, with Faran Tahir coming to the small screen to reprise the character of Raza, the leader of the so-called Ten Rings from 2008's Iron Man.  In some confirmed casting news, Rory McCann will replace the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll for Ahsoka season two. McCann is best known for playing The Hound in Game of Thrones, but his roster of work also includes Gladiator II, Hot Fuzz, Clash of the Titans, and more. Ahsoka is part of Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau's Mandoverse, and Filoni will return as showrunner for season two. Director Andy Muschietti let it be known why he thinks the 2023 DCEU movie The Flash, flopped. On Radio Tu's “La Baulera del Coso” show, Muschietti said the film didn't appeal to “all four quadrants” of moviegoers. The quadrants he's speaking of are men over 25, men under 25, women over 25, and women under 25. Muschietti also said anecdotally that in conversations with people he found they “just don't care about the Flash as a character…particularly the two female quadrants.” Colman Domingo has been cast in Edgar Wright's The Running Man and will star alongside Glen Powell, Josh Brolin, Karl Glusman, Katy O'Brian and Daniel Ezra. The film releases on November 7. Production on many Hollywood television and film projects has been suspended and events such as The Critic's Choice Awards, red carpet premieres, and The Academy Awards nominations have been postponed due to the LA area wildfires. Five-time WWE world champion Seth Rollins has confirmed he is not in upcoming MCU movie Captain America: Brave New World, saying his role was cut following extensive rewrites of the script and subsequent reshoots. Universal Pictures has updated the release date calendar for two animated properties. DreamWorks' Shrek 5 has been pushed back almost 6 months to December 23, 2026 and Minions 3 from Illumination is moving forward almost a year to take Shrek 5's original date of  July 1, 2026. Variety reported today that MCU screenwriting veteran Marcus McFeely originally turned the Russo Brothers down about writing for Secret Wars, even though he is the reason the directing duo is returning. However, the next day McFeely called the Russos back and said he was in after coming up with an idea for the film. Warner Brothers is bringing back The Puppy Bowl for its 21st installment this year, but will use the game to bolster its upcoming DCU film Superman. James Gunn will appear during The Puppy Bowl with his dog Ozu, who served as the inspiration for the superdog Krypto in the film. Gunn will introduce a sneak preview of Superman and deliver a “special message” to viewers. According to box office tracking service Quorum, Captain America: Brave New World will likely cross the $100 Million Dollar Mark in it's opening 4 day weekend Ludwig Göransson will compose the score for Christopher Nolan's upcoming adaptation of The Odyssey. Göransson's other film and TV credits include Creed, Black Panther, Atlanta, Tenet, and The Mandalorian. Succession creator Jesse Armstrong has reached an agreement with HBO to produce a feature film. The movie is based on an original idea of Armstrong's and will center on four friends who meet up in the midst of a global financial crisis. Production is currently fast-tracked to start later this year.

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for August 10, 2023 is: encomium • en-KOH-mee-um • noun Encomium refers to an expression of glowing and warmly enthusiastic praise. // Upon achieving EGOT status, the actor was deservedly showered with encomiums from across the entertainment world. See the entry > Examples: “Princess Shuri (Letitia Wright) is desperately trying to save the life of her brother, King T'Challa (the late Chadwick Boseman) … until her mother, Ramonda (Angela Bassett), arrives to deliver the dreaded news: ‘Your brother is with the ancestors.' Thus does ‘Wakanda Forever' address, head on, the tragic loss of Boseman, who died of colon cancer in 2020. In a fitting tribute, the shuffle of iconic characters that opens every Marvel movie here is composed entirely of images of Boseman, a moving encomium to a gifted and charismatic actor who left the stage much too soon.” — Ann Hornaday, The Washington Post, 8 Nov. 2022 Did you know? Kudos to encomium for being a marvelous, magnificent, must-have word for high praise for over four centuries—at least in formal speech and writing. Indeed, like its synonym panegyric, encomium (from the Greek word enkōmion, meaning “celebration”) has seen a steady drop in usage since the early 1800s and is rarely encountered outside of literary or highfalutin contexts. It does pop up in pop culture now and again, however. Music fans of a certain generation may remember a host of their favorite artists, from Tori Amos to Stone Temple Pilots, paying tribute to Led Zeppelin in 1995 on the appropriately titled album Encomium: A Tribute to Led Zeppelin. And more recently, the famously loquacious television series Gilmore Girls dropped encomium no less than five times in a 2016 episode featuring “Stars Hollow: The Musical,” a show-within-a-show featuring the line “Not so fast with the encomiums!” Of course, you may dish out your own encomiums in any manner or velocity you wish—and verily we shall tip our chapeaux.

Scott and Jay go through the 160min movie in great detail, discussing the film as a tribute to Boseman, the returning cast's performances, whether the newcomers are worth getting excited about, and also of course how this film inevitably fits into the broader MCU. A few years ago, I wrote, regarding their involvement in AVENGERS: ENDGAME, that the Russo Brothers had the most thankless, difficult job in Hollywood. I mean, putting a bow on a decade's worth of loosely connected movies with a library's worth of characters? Tough. But Ryan Coogler has BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER. Chadwick Boseman's death serves as an atom bomb to this movie and no conversation about this will ever be able to avoid the art-imitating-life parallel. So Coogler has to honor Boseman and his character, T'Challa, as heroes in their own rights. He's gotta follow up one of the most successful movies of all-fucking-time. He's gotta fit his pieces within the Marvel paradigm. And, y'know, it's still gotta rule as a superhero movie. I'm not saying the end result is perfect, but would you really rather have the Russos doing this? I didn't think so. | Follow Daniel on Twitter: @TheMovies_Pod

As we all know, Chadwick Boseman, the Black Panther, passed away before filming Black Panther 2. Huge changes had to be made, and a tightrope had to be crossed between respecting the real-life loss and crafting an engaging story. Now, with the release of Wakanda Forever, we ask how successful the movie was relating to the memory of T'Challa and the overall story of the Marvel universe. RIP Mr. Boseman.  In other reviews, Mythic Quest is back for season 3 and The Bastard Son of the Devil himself has seen some decent reviews on entertainment blogs, but will it pass the Rob test? We also mourn the passing of Kevin Conroy (Batman) and Gallagher (of watermelon fame) The top 5 this week is all about memorializing the dead. Warning: Do not listen to this episode unless you have seen the 2022 Marvel Studios film, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” or do not mind hearing key plot points. This is the sequel to the 2018 Marvel hit “Black Panther.” However, after that movie, the titular star, Chadwick Boseman, tragically passed away from cancer. The question that has been asked leading up to this film was when did Marvel know Boseman was sick? Did they plan for his potential passing in their script stage, and how would the film address his absence? That is the major debate in this review of this film. The production and performance were incredible. The film pays a proper tribute to Boseman. But the story of T'Challa, the Black Panther, is what the debate is about. Was T'Challa given a superhero death? Marshall Harris of CBS Chicago rejoins the show to discuss this film. He also offers a similar perspective to our review of the first film (Episode 88) in that Harris discusses what this film means to him as an African-American. The first 9 minutes of this episode present a tribute to the late Kevin Conroy. Conroy died on November 10, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. He was 66. Conroy has been on this podcast 5 times, and the tribute involves a retrospective.

The second to last big budget spectacle on the 2022 calendar has released with Marvel's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the sequel to the 2018 Oscar winning, global sensation. Following the death of actor Chadwick Boseman, director Ryan Coogler and company had an enormous task on their hand in crafting this film, with many other obstacles other than just Boseman in their way in the process of bringing this film to screen. With all of this said, Coogler has delivered a film many critics and audiences believe to be the strongest film in Phase 4 of the MCU, and another great installment in the overall franchise. But do our hosts feel the same way? Listen and find out, it is a fascinating, well rounded discussion. After this review, do a fun segment talking about some of their favorite sequels of all time. "That I actually have to give credit to our graphics team [for]," she said. "And I may be mistaken but probably Olney Atwell is the one that came up with that. I mean our graphics team actually… really paid attention to details and put in a lot of little funny jokes and bits that were really, really wonderful. But, we all just had such a laugh just imagining Wong, first of all, having a LinkedIn profile and having to put a work history. Any work history that ends with 'Sorcerer Supreme' is automatically chef's kiss… I love this era of Wong discovering and exploring American pop culture."   How She-Hulk's Jameela Jamil Convinced Megan Thee Stallion to Guest Star https://www.cbr.com/she-hulk-jameela-jamil-convince-megan-thee-stallion-guest-star-mcu/ https://www.tiktok.com/@hollywoodreporter/video/7138575703074917678 Per The Hollywood Reporter on TikTok, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Jameela Jamil confirmed her role in convincing Megan Thee Stallion to join the series for its third episode. Coiro concluded by saying She-Hulk's plot is "really about getting to know the characters" and letting viewers see the moments that they never get to explore in plot-driven stories. "So we tease Titania," she continued. "She will come back but she doesn't need to come back immediately, and that way we get to really get to know our characters."   She-Hulk Star Shares Her Wong Thirst Trap Photo https://twitter.com/gingerthejester/status/1565498946981691397 https://www.cbr.com/she-hulk-star-shares-wong-thirst-trap-photo   She-Hulk writer explains Abomination's major personality change https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/she-hulk-abomination-personality-change-exclusive-newsupdate/ Speaking to RadioTimes, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law showrunner Jessica Gao explained how the creative team behind the hit Disney+ series evolved Emil Blonsky/Abomination from a monstrous Super-Soldier to a kind-hearted reformed criminal.
