How do you fit Universal Basic Income into libertarian thought? "Don't tread on me" is the essence of today's debate. Peterson dissects the implication of Universal Basic Income as presented by Andrew Yang's book The War on Normal People. They also bring up an article from the socialist magazine Jacobin and the old psychological theory Maslow's hierarchy of needs presented by Abraham Maslow in 1947. On top of all this, the rough calculations done in this episode were based on the numbers in the Jacobin article. The simulation discussed was by Compass, a UK thinktank. Presenting: Alkis Toutziaridis, the brilliant, Economics IB student from Athens, Greece. He has been highly commended by Harvard's Undergraduate Economics Association for an essay he submitted about US Debt sustainability. Safe to say, Peterson was happy to find another economics bro. He also has a unique perspective on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine on his doorstep. If you'd like to send us anything, we respond at 395productioncompany@gmail.com. Paul Bloom, a professor of psychology at Yale University, wrote the book Against Empathy a decade ago. Listen to find out how it applies to public policy and why it should be disavowed, at least, according to Jared. We also used some new outro music which we do not own the rights to. Don't sue us, Nintendo. Like and subscribe Send us an email at 395productioncompany@gmail.com to chat. Thanks!
Today's episode covers Woke Racism by John McWhorter. The book has received much criticism from thought leaders of the third-wave antiracist movement. Jared and Peterson try to understand both McWhorter's perspective and the perspective of those thought leaders. Finally, they turn to a broader principle of combating idealogues. What is an idealogue, and when are they harmful to the world? Thanks for listening! Don't forget to subscribe! And if you have any feedback, please email us at 395productioncompany@gmail.com
The United States of America has the capacity to grow to three times its current population size, according to Matt Yglesias's book, One Billion Americans. Peterson and Jared talk about some of the problems brought up in the book, such as family sizes, immigration, congestion, and zoning laws. They both agreed that this common goal was more unifying than polarizing. The hard part is agreeing on the little things that would generally end up as power struggles in political debate. Who are the enemies to the United States? They come out of the woodwork when crises, such as Ukraine, develop. We dive into second order effects of this war in Ukraine using SOPHOMORIC OBSERVATION (not navel gazing). We ponder the orb, if you will, trying to decipher what lies in store in the near future. Given that our work is purely speculative, we'd like to hear your opinions. Shoot us an email at 395productioncompany@gmail.com. We'd love to get your feedback.
What do Keynesian and Austrian economics have in common? Not much. Peterson and Jared differentiate between the two, citing their episode about Ray Dalio for Keynesian. Don't sleep on this one! Share with your friends!
What do Kael Weston and Jack Ryan have in common? Join Jared and Peterson as they find out how a former State Department agent would act in response to the Ukraine-Russia conflict if he became senator. Worth noting is his war biography: The Mirror Test. Kael is the Democratic Senate Candidate in 2022 for Utah. He's interesting in broadening the political marketplace of opinions, not a commonplace position to take. Follow him on Twitter and Instagram: @KaelWeston . His website is: https://kaelweston.com/
(Recorded Feb 15 2022) We read Ray Dalio's most recent book "Principles for Dealing with a Changing World Order," only to confirm our mounting suspicions about what we discussed in the Afghanistan episode. Does the world perceive the US as weak? Are they naive to do so? We highly recommend that all listeners find this book and learn about what Ray Dalio is working on. Is he a Gepetto-- tinkering about on his model of the world? Or is he clairvoyant? Peterson has some beef with the NFA's general distinctions. Ultimately, gun owners are like Minecrafters; they're peaceful, law-abiding citizens just trying to enjoy their hobby. His take on what regulations should be in place about guns boil down in the final minutes of the episode. Stay tuned! Please rate and review!
(Recorded in November 2021) We got the tech stock crash right, but it doesn't count because we didn't publish it before it happened. Oh, well. Jared and Peterson go into what happened in November of 2021, when unemployment skyrocketed. They also complain about Joe Biden's presidency at the end. End credits: Peterson roasts Jared's clean-shaven face
Jared pulls apart some of the reasons why people hate facebook right now. Is it a rant? Maybe. What's even more important is how Facebook and meth are basically the same thing. Check it out. Please leave your comments and ratings down below!
In their penultimate trip back to the overpass, Jared and Peterson review some of the more controversial voting laws that have been passed across the United States over the course of 2021. These laws come as a direct rebuttal to the results of the 2020 election. Most of the information discussed in the episode came from the Brennan Institute for Justice. They are an incredibly expert and seemingly non-partisan resource for understanding the nuance of recently passed statutes. In lieu of Valentine's Day, this may have been the episode with the most playful banter between the co-hosts, but don't hold your breath for them getting along in the future.
We've chopped up another dissection on the ongoing vaccine debate. Full disclosure: Peterson and I are both vaccinated for SARS CoV-2, and we recommend it to all listeners whose best interests are served by vaccination. In this rant, we are diving into the minds of the vaccine hesitant. Stemming from personal discussions and from broader philosophical conundrums about risk management, we draw up a synthesis--the likes of which we haven't heard anywhere in the media landscape. Also, if you want to know why we changed our music, listen until the end for a behind-the-scenes hot take.
New Music, New Sound effects!! Not to be a simp, but Jared loves Andrew Yang and willfully commits to most of Yang's proposals. Meanwhile, Peterson practices his rebuttals on technocrats this episode. We also had Peterson sit closest to the mic, so if you get Jurassic Park velociraptor vibes from his steady breathing in the background, that's why. If you're curious about our recording quality, we had to move back to the overpass because we aren't making enough money from this podcast. Tell your friends about us! Please leave a comment and rate and review. (Rev. 2/7/22)
Peterson is PISSED that medical care is so expensive! But he's also pissed that people want doctors to work for free. Is there a solution to this problem? Why do we have this problem in the first place? (Spoiler: it's all because of BIG GOVERNMENT)
Is it hi-jinx? or HI-jinx? And will the US go back into Civil War? Peterson and Jared are brutally heavy handed discussing how they've sacrificed for this show. Recorded with fire and lava spewing from their previous Climate Change debacle, these kids decide to open up to each other. Here's the reddit link btw: https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/s39n80/the_workplace_and_universal_basic_income/
Stoking the flames, Peterson lets loose on Jared about his apparent biases in the discussion on climate. How does the dynamic duo make it out of this?
As the world's global temperatures rise, so do the differences between Peterson and Jared. They clash on definitions, sources, and who ought to get the final say between them on climate change. The second part to this episode will be arriving on Wednesday morning. Please rate and review this podcast so we can get you better content every week!

What does a pro-gun liberal sound like? Jared might have something to say about that. Want statistical analysis on crime and gun laws? Peterson did research for this one. Also, who even likes Enya anymore? Check out our laugh track at the end. Are you sure you know your colonizing history? Always doing the most, we present the dynamic duo, back at it again. Jared and Peterson battle road noises and the current school of thought on colonialism. Peterson hates how Jared lumps capitalism in with overbearing governments, and Jared can't stand being challenged on his use of “toxic” in describing capitalism. They get to their points eventually, we promise. Thanks for your time! Please subscribe, rate and review! What is going on with the US Foreign Policy these days? They're no experts, but they certainly talk like it. Jared is hesitant to uphold prior assumptions about humanitarian/democratic missions across the globe, and Peterson battles traffic to make his opinion on the fumbled-bag that is Afghanistan be heard. Where has civility gone? Peterson and Jared don't know either, but they're on a journey to restore it to the American media landscape. Join them as they delve deep into hard conversations and come to synergistic conclusions that take into account different perspectives. Today's episode will be focused on introducing the backgrounds of Peterson and Jared. Peterson, a libertarian, uses Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, Hunter Lewis's Free Prices Now, and Friedrich Hayek's The Road to Serfdom. Jared, a liberal, uses contemporaries such as Andrew Yang's The War on Normal People and Ibram X. Kendi's How to be an Antiracist.
