Are you living your life by design...or by default? If you've ever found yourself saying, "I don't have enough time," feeling like the weeks fly by, or wondering where the year went, this episode is for you. This week, we're joined by Taylor Prokes, co-founder of the Big A## Calendar Company, endurance athlete, entrepreneur, and advocate for intentional living. Taylor shares why your calendar is much more than a scheduling tool—it's one of the most powerful ways to create a life filled with purpose, joy, adventure, and meaningful experiences. Together, we explore how planning ahead can help you stop simply reacting to life and start intentionally creating it. Whether you're navigating midlife, raising teenagers, becoming an empty nester, or simply craving more fulfillment, Taylor offers practical strategies to help you prioritize what matters most. We also discuss why women in midlife may actually have more opportunities than ever before to pursue meaningful goals, embrace adventure, and inject more fun into everyday life. In this episode, we discuss: Why your calendar shapes your life more than you realize How to stop saying "I don't have time" The power of planning adventures and experiences in advance Why midlife is the perfect time to prioritize yourself The concept of a Misogi—a year-defining challenge Why doing hard things builds confidence and resilience How to balance family, work, relationships, and personal goals The importance of creating seasons instead of chasing "perfect balance" How mini adventures can add more joy to everyday life Practical ways to become more intentional with your time Episode Breakdown with Timestamps In This Episode 01:15 How Taylor discovered intentional living 09:30 Stop reacting to life—start designing it 15:30 Why planning ahead creates more freedom 19:30 Rethinking work-life balance 27:00 What is a Misogi? 34:45 How the Big Ass Calendar works 42:00 Why women in midlife should prioritize fun 50:30 When life changes your plans Whether your next adventure is running your first race, learning a new skill, taking a bucket-list trip, or simply scheduling more fun with friends and family, this conversation will inspire you to stop waiting and start living. Wann mache ich Therapie? Wann Coaching? Tampons in an Ice Cream TubIn this episode of Brand Growth Heroes, I'm joined by Tara Chandra and Susan Allen, co-founders of Here We Flo, the organic, sustainable period care brand turning one of the most shame-coded categories in consumer brands into something loud, funny, feminist and brilliantly visible on shelf. We talk about how two friends from LSE spotted a gap in women's intimate products, started with a period care idea in a Hackney flatshare, and built a challenger brand now stocked across major retailers including Boots, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Superdrug and Holland & Barrett. Here We Flo shows us the power of brand strategy to create value when the category ITSELF is broken. Tara and Susan didn't just create organic cotton tampons, pads and liners; they questioned why period care was hidden, clinical and functional when other parts of consumer life had already moved towards better materials, better design and better conversations. We cover packaging as a growth lever, why their ice cream tub became a “trolley magnet”, how they think about rate of sale rather than just chasing distribution, and why their mission now stretches across cycle care, bladder care and sexual wellness. What You'll Learn Why Here We Flo used packaging as their first “billboard” before they could afford media.  How starting in independent Hackney stores helped them build product market fit.  Why brand tone of voice matters so much in categories shaped by shame and stigma.  How they think about growing rate of sale with existing retail partners.  Why product reliability is non-negotiable in period care and bladder care. Key Topics Discussed Building a feminist challenger brand  Organic and sustainable period care  Packaging as a shelf strategy  Launching in independent retailers  Breaking into WHSmith Travel, Boots and Tesco  Making taboo categories emotionally accessible  Period care, bladder care and sexual wellness  Growing through rate of sale, not just distribution  Education on shelf and in-store communication  Sports partnerships, stigma and period confidence  Building a team of 31 women  Scaling towards 50–100% growth ambitions Like this episode? PLEASE share the love by sharing this episode with another founder building a challenger brand, a colleague or a mate who loves brilliant non-alcoholic drinks, or anyone trying to work out how to build a sharper, more focused growth model.Don't forget to FOLLOW or SUBSCRIBE to Brand Growth Heroes on your favourite podcast app, and even LEAVE A REVIEW - both of these actions make a MASSIVE difference to our mission to help more founders just like you.Join our community Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/brandgrowthheroes) LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/company/brand-growth-heroes/?viewAsMember=true) Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/@brandgrowthheroes)Find out more about the programmes and courses Fiona runs here (https://www.brandgrowthheroes.com/mini-mba-2026)AND Do you want to lean in to unlock value from AI? On this episode of Fishing the DMV, I sit down with Kevin Flint of Flint Financial Planning for one of the most important conversations we've had about the future of fishing, tournament angling, and the real cost of chasing this sport.Kevin grew up fishing Smith Mountain Lake with his dad out of an old Ranger bass boat, and today he brings a unique perspective as both a lifelong angler and a Certified Financial Planner. We talk about how Smith Mountain Lake has changed over the years, the impact of blueback herring on the fishery, the recent low-water conditions, and how the lake's economy has evolved since COVID.Then we take a deep dive into the financial side of bass fishing. Why are boats, trucks, gas, tackle, hotels, and entry fees getting so expensive? Are tournament payouts keeping up with inflation? Is forward-facing sonar really the reason tournament participation is down, or is the real issue the rising cost of everything around the sport?Kevin breaks down the economics behind the fishing industry, why $100,000 in tournament winnings does not go as far as it used to, and what young anglers need to understand before taking on debt to chase the dream. We also discuss LLCs, Schedule C income, taxes on tournament winnings, guide businesses, budgeting, credit card debt, buy-now-pay-later programs, umbrella insurance, and how anglers at every stage of life can make smarter financial decisions.Whether you're a high school angler, college fisherman, weekend tournament guy, full-time guide, retiring angler, or someone dreaming about buying a new boat, this episode is packed with information that could save you a lot of money and stress. Please note: this conversation is for general educational purposes only and should not be considered personal financial, legal, or tax advice. In this episode of The Art of Living Well Podcast®, Marnie and Stephanie break down one of the most researched supplements available and make the case for why midlife women should be paying attention. Creatine has long been associated with bodybuilders and gym culture, but the science tells a far more interesting story, especially for women navigating perimenopause, menopause, and the hormonal shifts that come with them. This conversation covers the basics of how creatine works, why women naturally have lower stores than men, and what the emerging research says about its benefits for muscle, recovery, energy, and brain health. We don't often hear about Challenger brands that are PROFITABLE...So let's do it! *** Find out more about the NEW Brand Growth Heroes September Sprint 4 week programme just launched June 2026 - applications are open through June and July***In this fab interview, I chat with Helena Hills, co-founder of TrueStart Coffee, about how she and co-founder Simon have taken a once-niche healthy coffee idea and turned it into a fast-growing challenger brand now on a £12m revenue run rate, profitably. So for those of you who are wondering if it's possible, here's some BRILLIANT insights, advice and experience! What I loved about this conversation is Helena's clarity around this decision, her conviction. And that TrueStart didn't suddenly appear from nowhere. It spent years doing the hard, unglamorous work: testing the proposition, building a community at sports events, learning where the brand had real pull, and being incredibly choosy about what to invest in before stepping into scale-up mode.We talk about the contradiction at the heart of their growth: this is a coffee brand that didn't lead with coffee culture, but with energy.Helena explains why TrueStart tests for quality and purity markers (I honestly didn't know this was important), why caffeine consistency matters (nor this, but it makes complete sense to me now!), how COVID became a light-switch moment for the brand, and why their Series A fundraise with Jam Jar felt like a full-circle moment after first naming them as a dream investor back in 2015. For founders building consumer brands, this is a brilliant conversation about patience, timing, culture, focus and what it really means to scale without building on sand. What You'll Learn Why TrueStart built its early community through sports and fitness events.  How a niche proposition became more mainstream as health, ethics and quality became more important to consumers.  Why profitable growth became a deliberate strategic choice.  How Helena and Simon divide leadership between outward energy and internal process.  Why timing matters in innovation, especially with the launch of Coffee Concentrate. Key Topics Discussed Series A investment from Jam Jar  Building a profitable challenger brand  Healthy coffee and caffeine consistency  Word-of-mouth growth at events  Moving from startup to scale-up  Coffee Concentrate and iced coffee at home  Founder energy, ADHD and complementary co-founder roles  Culture, hiring and decision-making guardrails  AI, process and avoiding founder bottlenecks Find out more about TrueStart Follow TrueStart on InstagramLike this episode? Most challenger founders assume international expansion should happen in neat, logical steps. New Zealand → Australia → UK → US. But Lisa's view was different, and that's why it's so interesting: In fact, conventional FMCG wisdom tells us to prove your business in nearby markets first. But founder Lisa King of Free AF Drinks ignored that advice!  After building a 40% share brand in New Zealand, Lisa decided to skip Australia entirely and went straight after the most competitive drinks market in the world...the USA!Why? --> If the ambition was always to build a globally valuable business, she asked herself why spend years proving the model somewhere that wasn't ultimately where the biggest opportunity sat?In this brilliant conversation with Kiwi female founder Lisa, you'll hear how today AF Drinks is stocked in more than 4,500 stores across the US, including Target, Walmart, Whole Foods and Kroger, and just HOW they're doing it. We discuss why she made they made the decision they did, how Pernod Ricard Ventures invested before the US launch, what it really takes to build a beverage brand in America, why alcohol-free RTD cocktails are outperforming expectations, and the lessons founders should understand before attempting to scale internationally.Lisa takes us through a masterclass in the realities of the beverage market in the United States; Why alcohol-free RTD cocktails are growing faster than many expected and finally, how she has approached fundraising, equity and scaling internationally!Key Topics Discussed Alcohol-free drinks category growth  Building challenger brands internationally  International expansion & export to USA   Listings with Target, Walmart, Whole Foods and Kroger  US grocery retail Walmart and Target listings  Fundraising and investor strategy  Pernod Ricard Ventures investment  Beverage category economics  Product innovation, IP & technology  Ready-to-drink cocktails  Scaling consumer brands globally  Founder leadership  Building brands from New Zealand USEFUL LINKSAF Drinks WebsiteAF Drinks InstagramLike this episode?PLEASE share the love by sharing this episode with another founder building a challenger brand, a colleague or a mate who loves brilliant non-alcoholic drinks, or anyone trying to work out how to build a consumer packaged goods business.Don't forget to FOLLOW or SUBSCRIBE to Brand Growth Heroes on your favourite podcast app, and even LEAVE A REVIEW - both of these actions make a MASSIVE difference to our mission to help more founders just like you.Follow usInstagram (https://www.instagram.com/brandgrowthheroes)LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/company/brand-growth-heroes/?viewAsMember=true)Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/@brandgrowthheroes)Find out more about the programmes and courses Fiona runs here (https://www.brandgrowthheroes.com/mini-mba-2026)Join the NextGen CPG WhatsApp group for founders leaning in to the value that a leadership approach to engaging with AI can unlock for businesses like yours.*** Thanks to Brand Growth Heroes' podcast sponsor - Joelson, the commercial law firm ***If you're a founder, you already know how much energy goes into building the perfect product, creating standout branding and connecting with consumers. But scaling a CPG business also brings legal complexities that can make or break your growth journey - from contracts and regulatory compliance to protecting your intellectual property. That's why I'm proud to partner with Joelson, the leading commercial law firm specialising in helping founders of scaling consumer brands.Joelson works with brands like Little Moons, Trip, Eat Natural, Bear Graze and Pulsin, and advised the innocent founders on their landmark sale to Coca-Cola - and still work with them at JamJar Investments today!Joelson is offering a FREE LEGAL CONSULTATION to all BGH listeners (mailto:hello@joelsonlaw.com) - I honestly recommend you take them up on it, they're brilliant.CREDITSThanks to our Sound Engineer Gyp Buggane at Ballagroove.com

Doch was bedeutet das eigentlich? How can you help today? After listening to this DiepCJourney® podcast interview with a highly skilled microsurgeon, Dr. Richard Kline of The Center for Natural Breast Reconstruction, share it with someone who is newly diagnosed, has a genetic mutation putting them at high risk, and is facing a mastectomy but wants to reconstruct their breasts.  Since opening DiepCFoundation in 2016, our intent has been to empower patients with information about all breast reconstruction options. There are three options: Implant-based reconstruction used a medical device surgically placed in the body after a mastectomy to replace the breast tissue that has been removed. A plastic surgeon can do this. Autologous reconstruction. This procedure uses the patient's own tissue to reconstruct the breasts after a mastectomy. This type of reconstruction requires a microsurgeon who has received training beyond standard plastic surgery.  Hybrid reconstruction combines autologous tissue and an implant to achieve volume and or projection. Performing autologous breast reconstruction is a far more complex task. Because of the additional training required, it is a chosen profession beyond standard plastic surgery for those passionate about what I consider an extraordinary task. This task includes tissue transfer and the anastomosis, suturing together tiny blood vessels, to create a warm breast using only the patient's own tissue. What does this mean for patients? Because there are fewer microsurgeons than general plastic surgeons, access to care becomes an issue. A patient may go to a well-qualified plastic surgeon and be told implants are their best option because that is what the surgeon is skilled at. A well-intended, skilled plastic surgeon may also tell patients that a procedure like the DIEP flap is complex and lengthy. Where does this leave the patient? Patients owe it to themselves to understand all options for reconstruction, but we know they often do not. How do we change this? Education and outreach. When a skilled microsurgeon isn't available in a patient's area, it's a very valid reason for them to travel. Welcome to this very special episode that's airing during the week of the 2026 Podcasthon — the world's largest podcast charity initiative, bringing together over 2,100 podcasters from over 60 countries. The two visionary co-founders, Jeremie Mani and Yves Delnatte's mission is to raise awareness for local nonprofits and charitable causes that are effectively changing people's lives. Today's episode highlights a non-profit, and rather exceptional person, who's doing just that as a result of experiencing his own profound life change, the kind that happens in seconds, the kind you never see coming, and the kind that demands everything you have to keep moving forward. In hockey, a line change is a substitution of players — usually an entire line — jumping over the boards so the game can keep going at full intensity.  But what happens when life forces a line change you didn't choose?  My guest today knows that answer intimately. Matt Brown was a 15-year-old sophomore at Norwood High School in Massachusetts, a student, an athlete, and hockey player with a huge passion for the sport.  Then, during a high school hockey game in 2010, everything changed.  With one hit, one moment and one collision with the boards, Matt sustained a catastrophic spinal cord injury, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. In his 2019 memoir Line Change Matt Brown, along with co-author Todd Civin, chronicle Matt's life after that injury, detailing his journey through paralysis, rehabilitation, and his infectious "Never Quit" attitude while navigating college, motivational speaking, and running 13 assisted marathons.  His memoir highlights the tremendous support from his amazing family, friends, and the hockey community worldwide, including his beloved Boston Bruins, and stands as a positive testament to resilience and holding onto Hope in the face of adversity. In 2020, the Matt Brown Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit was launched. Born from Matt's compassion and empathy to support individuals and families affected by illness or injury—especially those living with paralysis—through advocacy, resources, and community. This episode takes a deep, topic-led look at golf course design for the slower swing speed player. We use this term deliberately, because swing speed is what really determines distance and ball flight, and a large proportion of the golfing population fits into this category. Slower swing speed players can be young or old, male or female, beginners or lifelong golfers. It is also worth remembering that most golf courses are, in reality, home to slower swing speed players. The 7,000-plus yard course is the outlier, not the norm. We are joined by Kari Haug of Kari Haug Planning & Design, alongside Giulia Ferroni of Leeds Golf Design, to explore how course design can better serve this majority of golfers. The conversation goes well beyond simply adding forward tees. We dig into how hazard placement affects playability, realistic carry distances from the tee, and how green complexes can be designed to challenge better players while still remaining accessible for those with slower swing speeds. Kari shares insights from her extensive research into this subject, with a clear focus on how modern course design can better incorporate these principles to improve inclusion, enjoyment, and long-term accessibility for all golfers.  Giulia brings a practical knowledge from having helped several courses work through this in their course design. https://www.karihaug.com/ https://www.leedsgolfdesign.com/   A big thanks to our Show Partner - Toro Check them out here!   https://www.golfclubtalk.uk/the-green-print/ https://www.instagram.com/thegreenprintgolf/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-greenprint-golf/?viewAsMember=true www.golfclubtalk.uk golfclubtalkuk@gmail.com   Support us here: https://buymeacoffee.com/gctuk   Sign up to our Newsletter here

This week on The Line, we sit down with Sylvan Brandt Antique Flooring, a company committed to lifting the view of the skilled trades by reviving the work of tradesmen past and giving old craftsmanship a brand-new life.  Sylvan Brandt has built its legacy on seeking out old wood and restoring its story—transforming barn siding from century-old farms and reclaimed beams into premium flooring now found in lofts from New York City to California. Every board carries scars, marks, and character that speak to a history worth preserving. In this conversation, we explore not only the story behind their products, but the story behind their people: transitioning a business into the next generation of leadership, staring hardship directly in the face, refusing to give up, and rediscovering purpose, meaning, and gratitude along the way.Host Joshua D. Mellott sits down with Tyler Hollinger of Sylvan Brandt, who shares hard-earned wisdom about facing what feels impossible. At Blackline, grit is defined as “the courage to face what's in front of you”—and Tyler embodies it. He breaks down how to develop grit, how to use it, and how it fuels perseverance and forward momentum. This episode uncovers real truth about leadership, legacy, and the craftsmanship that shaped generations. The episode drops Monday at 5 AM. And it all ends with one simple question: What are you thankful for?--------------------------WHERE TO WATCH:Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/07rT0hFAsPAZYCUF4OMBB7 Apple https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-line/id1722664848--------------------------FOLLOW SYLVAN BRANDTFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/sylvanbrandtantiqueflooringInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/sylvanbrandtantiqueflooring/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/sylvanbrandtantiqueflooring/?viewAsMember=true--------------------------FOLLOW JOSH:X: https://x.com/JoshuadmellottInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/JoshuadmellottLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/joshua-d-mellott-0b0525118/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@UCC11qG6HXWP7TmVMr_Sv7Vg--------------------------FOLLOW BLACKLINE: @blacklineltd Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/blacklineltd?igsh=a2wwbzJ3Y3Jjd2o4Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100095504736514LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/blackline-ltd/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@blacklineLTDWebsite: https://www.blacklineltd.com/--------------------------EXPLORE THE PODCASTSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/07rT0hFAsPAZYCUF4OMBB7?si=0da16a8fb2574ca4Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-line/id1722664848
