In a preview of his 2019 Southwest Fox sessions, Eric Selje compares Visual FoxPro Advanced and X-Sharp, offering his take on how VFP developers can take advantage of these new tools.
Rick Borup has been working in the FoxPro community for years. In recent years, he has shown Mercurial as his version control system of choice but at this year's Southwest Fox, he'll be showing how developers can take advantage of Git. He's also got a new tool under his belt - a little database that makes sense for FoxPro developers who are looking for a fast and easy (and portable) DB. Listen in and see how Rick got involved in the community and also how these tools may make your world a bit easier.
After so many years, XBASE is coming to DotNet!!! Note that I said xBase and not VFP. The xSharp project is an initiative for all xBase devotees, supporting Visual object, clipper and VFP syntax. I talk with project founder Robert van Der Hulst about how he got into the industry, and the how's and why's of the xSharp project. Find out more at http://www.xsharp.info. Two members of the xSharp team will be at this year's Southwest Conference.
A wide-ranging discussion with Tamar Granor, one of the organizers of Southwest Fox 2019, about women in tech, different ways of sharing information and how to go from wallflower to presenter. The first deadline for Southwest Fox 2019 is coming up on July 1st and Tamar gives several great reasons to attend, including ways she has learned new ideas that have become part of her own arsenal of tech tools. She also tells of her own history with programming at Penn State, introduction to the online world and the gender bias in technology.
Join us for a discussion with Rick Schummer, one of the Organizer of Southwest Fox as we learn where he started, what and how he's learned to get to where he is and why conferences will make him say "wow - how can I use that?" Find out more about Southwest Fox at http://www.swfox.net
Doug Hennig talks about his start in the computer industry from Commodore Pet and how much FoxPro development he does today. He's also excited about the Southwest Fox conference and what he's learned from past conferences and the real reasons people should attend (hint, it's not just the sessions).

As with every year, here is my interview with Doug Hennig, Tamar Granor and Rick Schummer, organizers of the number one FoxPro developer conference in North America. Is Lianja the next best tool for FoxPro developers looking to leverage their knowledge in the world of desktop, mobile and web applications? In this show, we talk to Barry Mavin, the creator of Lianja and Hank Fay, a long-time FoxPro developer who is looking very hard at Lianja for line of business applications. As a note, attendees of Southwest Fox 2012 will be receiving a Standard edition of Lianja! Note: This episode features a slightly different style of production that I've been listening to on 99% Invisible, a great podcast by Roman Mars. It's not exactly the same but when listening to early cuts of this episode, I found it really worked well. Let me know what you think.
What are you doing in October? FoxPro developers will be at Southwest Fox 2011. In this episode, Doug Hennig, Tamar Granor and Rick Schummer spill the beans (well not all of them) on what you can expect at this year's conference. Need more details? Check out http://www.swfox.net!

This episode features an interview with Paul Mrozowski on his Pre-con "FoxPro and the Web" and JQuery session at this year's SW Fox, coming up in mid-October in Gilbert AZ. Note: the audio for our interview was a little choppy so I had to "refresh" it.

Welcome back to the FoxShow! Today we feature an interview with Uwe Habermann about his upcoming Southwest Fox sessions on how to integrate FoxPro and Silverlight. Uwe and his team have been working on tools to migrate a FoxPro application (including forms AND reports) into Silverlight, using COM servers and also some C#. Part of this involves the Visual Extend framework but will also work with non-VFX projects. We always enjoy the feedback - so please send it to foxshow@gmail.com or Skype at akselsoft.
An interview with Tamar Granor, Doug Hennig and Rick Schummer regarding Southwest Fox 2009, coming up in October in Mesa, Arizona. Discussions range from choice of sessions, VFPX, new speakers and sponsors and the state of FoxPro development. Enjoy!
When speaking about VFPx at last year's Southwest Fox conference, it became evident that there aren't a lot of avenues for finding out how to use various pieces of VFPx. So I'm creating videos designed to showcase VFPx components, starting with the Control Renamer. If you have ever wanted to rename a control in a class or form but were hesitant because of missing other code references, the Control Renamer is definitely a tool you want to try. Now, there are lots of areas where new options can be added into this tool - but they are primarily "extras" like setting color settings or some logging. Check it out below! FoxPro VFP
Welcome to the first show of 2009 . On today's show: 1. Discussion about Rod Paddock's What's In a Title post. 2. Designing Databases with Andy Kramek. 3. What's new at VFPX. 4. Interview with John Koziol
FoxShow #60 features an interview with Ken Levy recorded on the second day of Southwest Fox 2008.We talked about a number of things including what he's been doing since he left Microsoft, the new CodeCast podcast that he is doing with EPS, APPScanX - a new VFP tool for helping to scan projects and code for specific elements and what he feels his contribution has been to the FoxPro community.Enjoy!
From Southwest Fox 2008 in Mesa Arizona, here is the audio from my Profiling and Refactoring session. In it, we discuss what refactoring is and what it isn't and how the VFPX Code Analyst helps make refactoring easier in Visual FoxPro. We also discuss how to best use the Log file generated from the VFP Coverage Profiler.
Here's another "discussion" from Southwest Fox, all about how developers get the most out of their day and, er, shower. Discussion with Cathy Pountney, Mike Yeager, Alan Stevens, Art Bertquist, Andrew MacNeill and others. Enjoy.
I didn't want to do a full show on this little interview but wanted to put it into the stream because I think it's really valuable for developers to hear. It's a discussion Alan Stevens and I had one morning at Southwest Fox 2008. It was held after his talk on Agile and I had some specific questions we wanted to get into. There is some background noise as we were talking outside at the breakfast table. If you've never heard Alan speak, this is a great way of getting a feel for his sessions. Enjoy!
At SWFox, there are a number of great sessions going on, most of which have the "please do not record or tape" - however, some, like this one, were open for all and everyone was told "you are on the Internet".This show is the entirety of the VFPX Meeting session - a session hosted by Craig Boyd, Bo Durban, Rick Schummer and myself about how the community can get better involved with VFPX itself and some other suggestions at the type of things the community wants to see.Audio is a conference room is tough - but I've tried to increase it where needed so you can hear the people in the back row.Enjoy
