Durch die systematische Analyse und das Hinterfragen bestehender Prozesse ("Wem nützt es? Was passiert, wenn wir es nicht tun?") werden unnötige Komplexitäten identifiziert und beseitigt. KI-Phasen und Skalierung: Rainer beschreibt drei KI-Phasen: die anfängliche Spielerei und Erkundung, die Anreicherung mit unternehmensspezifischen Daten und die finale Integration in die operativen Prozesse. Er betont die Bedeutung der Industrialisierung und Skalierung, um echten Mehrwert zu generieren. Die Provinzial ist bereits in Phase 3 angekommen und implementiert KI in den Workflow, um z.B. relevante Informationen aus E-Mails zu extrahieren. Seine Stationen: München, Genf und London zum Jurastudium, ein Master of Law in den USA, die Deutsche Journalistenschule in München und schließlich eine lange Reise durch verschiedenste Medienhäuser. All das, um im Jahr 1999 bei einem „Sanierungsfall“ namens ZEIT zu landen – den er seitdem zu einem der erfolgreichsten Verlagshäuser des Landes gemacht hat. Seine Formel? „Wir sind die Diener der Redaktion und müssen uns um die bestmöglichen Bedingungen für unsere Redakteurinnen und Redakteure kümmern.“ Wer ihn kennt, weiß: Genau das lebt er Tag für Tag. Die Schritte ins Rampenlicht meidet er, solange keine Notwendigkeit besteht. Doch wenn es darauf ankommt, ist er ein glasklarer Fürsprecher des Qualitätsjournalismus und ein ebenso deutlicher Kritiker allzu mächtiger Tech-Konzerne. Während viele um ihn herum noch zauderten, legte er couragiert den Finger in die Wunde und bewies echte Haltung. Und das stets mit einer Prise Humor, die man von einem kühlen Juristen vielleicht nicht unbedingt erwarten würde. Seit fast acht Jahren beschäftigen wir uns in diesem Podcast mit der Frage, wie Arbeit den Menschen stärkt, statt ihn zu schwächen. Genau deshalb suchen wir weiter nach Methoden, Vorbildern, Erfahrungen, Tools und Ideen, die uns dem Kern von New Work näher bringen.
