Put me to the test!”“God invites us to trust Him,” Art said. “He promises to pour out an abundance of blessings—not necessarily material wealth, but blessings that can be spiritual, relational, or emotional. Maybe it's the contentment you've been chasing for years, or the joy of being part of something far greater than yourself.”2. God Promises to MultiplyIn John 6, a young boy offers his five loaves and two fish to Jesus—hardly enough to feed five thousand hungry people. Yet Christ multiplies that small gift until everyone is satisfied, with twelve baskets left over.“Many of us feel like that boy,” Art said. “We look at our meager resources and wonder, What difference can this make? But God is a God of multiplication. He can take whatever you give and expand it to accomplish His purposes. That's His promise—but it requires trust.”3. Weitreichender Korruptionsskandal in NATO vertuscht, um Einheit zu rettenEin Kommentar von Rainer Rupp.Während NATO-Generalsekretär Rutte mit nuklear-politischen Drohungen gegen Russland jongliert, begannen vor einigen Monaten Strafverfolgungsbehörden und Staatsanwälte immer wieder an die Tür seiner korruptesten Behörde zu klopfen. Dabei handelt es sich um die im Kleinstaat Luxemburg in Autobahnnähe gelegene NSPA-Agentur, die u.a. zuständig für die Beschaffung von dringend benötigter, aber knapper Munition, Drohnen und sonstiger Rüstungsgüter für die Ukraine ist. Dafür verfügt die NSPA über ein Jahresbudget von 10 Milliarden Dollar. Das ist auch in Euro umgewechselt viel Geld und hat anscheinend auch bei einer Reihe von NATO-Funktionären, die auf lukrativen Rüstungsaufträgen saßen, unwiderstehliche Begehrlichkeiten geweckt.Inzwischen ist bekannt, dass Whistle Blower aus der NSPA-Agentur und andere, die direkt mit der Beschaffung militärischer Programme zu tun hatten, zuerst ihre Vorgesetzten im eigenen Apparat über veruntreute Gelder informiert, und, nachdem diese untätig blieben, die Strafverfolgungsbehörden in Luxemburg und Belgien eingeschaltet haben. Aus den mitgelieferten Dokumenten und E-Mail Korrespondenz ging hervor, dass einige Beschaffungsbudgets sich besonders gut für den Abgriff von Geldern eigneten. Das war insbesondere bei den Produkten der Fall, die am dringendsten benötigt wurden aber am schwersten zu beschaffen waren, weil sie noch relativ neu waren und es noch keinen geregelten Markt gab, wie z.B. bei Drohnen. Ersten Untersuchungen zufolge wurden vor allem bei Drohnen-Bestellungen für die Ukraine die Budgets besonders eifrig abgegriffen.Die Korruptionsmasche ist altbekannt und relativ einfach und nicht auf die Beschaffung von Rüstungsgütern beschränkt, sondern in der gesamten öffentlichen Auftragsvergabe weit verbreitet; Ausschreibungen mit einbegriffen. Grundlage ist dabei ein Übereinkommen zwischen dem Vertreter einer Lieferfirma X und einem Vertreter des öffentlichen Auftraggebers.Wichtig ist, dass der Vertreter des öffentlichen Auftragsgebers (VöA) die Ausschreibung so manipuliert, dass eigentlich nur die Firma X für den Auftrag in Frage kommt. Dabei besteht die Kunst darin, dass man bei einer späteren Überprüfung keine Manipulation der Bestandteile der Ausschreibung feststellen kann. Zugleich enthält der Angebotspreis der Firma X unsichtbar für die Buch- oder Steuerprüfer eine „Provision“ für den VöA-Vertreter. In meiner Zeit in der NATO sprachen Experten von 5 Prozent, wenn es darum ging auf Regierungsebene Minister oder Parteienvertreter zu schmieren, wobei bei Milliarden schweren Geschäften beachtliche Summen als Kick-Back („Provision“) herausspringen. Dabei kommt das Geld für den Kick-Back in der Regel nicht von einem Konto der Firma und es geht auch nicht auf ein Konto des korrupten Beamten, sondern es geht über Umwege z.B. an einen Verwandten des Beamten; oder Geld tritt gar nicht in Erscheinung, nur die Villa in einem anderen Land konnte zu einem besonders günstigen Preis erworben werden.Wir sehen also, Korruption ist gar nicht so leicht nachzuweisen, wenn sie professionell geübt abläuft. Das scheint jedoch bei den NATO-Beamten der NSPA nicht der Fall gewesen zu sein. Wahrscheinlich war bei den Unmengen von 10.000.000.000 (10 Milliarden) Dollar die Versuchung zu groß, die Gier nicht zu bändigen, die Kontrollen zu lasch und die Ausübung der Tat zu einfach. Ohne die Hinweise der Whistleblower vor sechs Monaten an die Strafverfolgungsbehörden in Luxemburg, dass ein Teil, der für den Krieg gegen die Russen bestimmten Gelder in den Taschen gewisser Kollegen verschwand, würde die Korruptions-Masche in der NATO wahrscheinlich auch heute noch auf vollen Touren laufen. Is this one of the best or worst method books for acoustic fingerstyle guitar? You can learn to play music by simultaneously using a variety of resources including teachers, online resources, and books. Rainer's Acoustic Blues Guitar Picking School, written by Rainer Brunn, is a method book for learning to play solo fingerstyle blues guitar.  The material is generally appropriate for late beginner to intermediate players who want to learn this style.  The material progresses logically from an easy introduction to Travis style/alternating basslines and quickly ramps up to late beginner difficulty.  Text is kept to a minimum, so readers should spend some time analyzing the playing examples.  The entire book is fairly short and concise at 53 pages. The majority of Rainer's Acoustic Blues Guitar Picking School focuses on playing the blues using an alternating bassline, although some examples feature a monotonic bassline.  Each chapter generally features a concise explanation of one or two new concepts (i.e. inner and outer right-hand positions, the “long A” chord shape, hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, etc.), provides a few playing examples to demonstrate, and finally provides a full 12 or 16 bar blues chorus utilizing the new concepts. My overall impression from going through this book is that it contains valuable information, but it is not as comprehensive as some other books.  You will gain important technical/physical skills to play fingerstyle blues, but there isn't much explanation on how to approach a new blues tune, music theory to help you choose the proper notes while improvising, etc.  Still, some people might prefer the concise text.  My advice would be to work through this book with a teacher or to combine this with another more comprehensive method book.  This book might make a great 2nd or 3rd book in your fingerstyle blues collection.  I got a great workout going through the book, I have immediately begun implementing some of the new ideas and chord shapes into my own playing, and I will be using some of the examples with my students. Chapter by chapter breakdown: Ch. 1: Intro to Travis style/ alt bass in blues keys of E, A, and C.  Intro to syncopation very soon.  If you are new to Travis style, then this will be difficult.  If you have some experience with Travis style, then this will quickly get you sounding bluesy. Ch. 2: Inner and outer RH positions – shifting thumb to pick 4th and 3rd strings while i and m fingers shift to 2nd and 1st strings.  Accompaniment behind a blues tune in D. Ch. 3: “Long A chord” – use pinky to reach 5th fret A note on 1st string.  Introduction of double alternating bass. Ch. 4: Hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides.  Intro to monotonic bass.  Intro to triplets.  Keys of E, G, and D with alt bass.  Intermediate territory. Ch. 5: Shuffle rhythm.  Advanced chord shapes (up the neck) for keys of E, A, D.  This is getting significantly more difficult – too difficult for beginners, in my opinion. Ch. 6: Thumb over the top.  Rag in C – really nice 16-bar tune. Ch. 7: Trickier hammer-ons, pull-offs, and slides over Travis bassline.  Keys of E and A. Ch. 8: Using alternating m and i picking hand fingers.  Lots of cool chromatic melodies. Ch. 9: Accompaniment.  Variations to keep you from playing the same accompaniment pattern over and over. Ch. 10: “Moveable modules” – chordal or interval ideas that can be moved around to fit over different chords/in different keys. Ch. 11: Turnarounds – some good introductory turnarounds to learn and start implementing into your blues playing. Ch. 12: Two blues tunes with discussions/analysis. Videos available online – solid performances of examples that are helpful to view. The book doesn't use the modern percussive techniques used by modern players like Michael Hedges, Don Ross, Andy McKee, Mike Dawes, etc.  No thumb slaps, guitar body percussion, or tapping.

Becoming Overconfident in a Rising MarketJust as fear hurts during downturns, overconfidence can be just as dangerous when markets rise. We saw this during the dot-com bubble in 2000 and again in 2020.As stock prices climb, inexperienced investors often rush in, assuming the market is “easy money.” They may chase riskier investments without understanding the dangers, setting themselves up for painful losses when the bubble bursts.4. Dwelling on RegretRegret over past decisions is natural, but it can tempt us to overcorrect. For example, selling too soon because of a bad memory from the last downturn—or holding too long trying to “make up” for past mistakes.Instead of being trapped by regret, let past experiences guide wiser choices without driving reactionary ones.The Bible tells us that saving is wise, but it also cautions against letting fear or greed rule our hearts.
