Seven-month-old Emmanuel Haro was reported missing in August 2025 after his mother, Rebecca Haro, claimed he had been kidnapped during a diaper change in a Yucaipa parking lot. That story triggered a community search, media coverage, and public fear. But investigators later said the kidnapping story did not hold up.Emmanuel's father, Jake Haro, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, assault on a child under eight causing death, and filing a false police report. He was sentenced on November 3, 2025, to 25 years to life, with additional time tied to other offenses. Rebecca Haro just pleaded guilty to felony child abuse causing great bodily injury to a child under five, involuntary manslaughter, and accessory after the fact. She was sentenced to 12 years and 8 months in state prison. Emmanuel's body has still not been recovered. I'm recording this short video from CrimeCon because this case has really troubled me. The courts got guilty pleas and Sentences were imposed. But the one thing Emmanuel still has not received is the dignity of being found, recovered, and properly laid to rest. My first book came from 15-minute morning writing sprints in a notepad before I even brushed my teeth. Barry Morphew is preparing to stand trial for the alleged murder of his wife, Suzanne Morphew, whose disappearance on Mother's Day weekend in 2020 became one of Colorado's most watched criminal investigations. The first prosecution was dismissed in 2022, but after Suzanne's remains were found in 2023, prosecutors brought a new first-degree murder indictment in 2025. Barry Morphew has pleaded not guilty, and the trial is scheduled to begin October 13, 2026, with proceedings expected to last up to six weeks. The South Carolina Supreme Court has reversed Alex Murdaugh's murder convictions and ordered a new trial, but this decision does not declare Murdaugh innocent, and it doesn't erase the evidence presented at trial. What it does say is that the jury process was contaminated by improper influence from Colleton County Clerk of Court Rebecca Hill. What a horrible consequence of bad choices. Let's break down the Court's ruling point by point as I look at what Hill allegedly said to jurors, why the Court applied the Remmer presumption of prejudice, why the State failed to overcome that presumption, and what the Court said about using Murdaugh's financial crimes as motive evidence in a second trial. This is still a case about murder, money, power, courtroom procedure, and public trust. Rachel McElreath is 28 years old, graduated from the 5x Certification, and has already lived more lives than most people do in a lifetime. She started drinking at 15, Halloween night in Atlanta, a bottle of Hennessy handed to her by a friend, parents in crisis at home, and spent the next decade building a life that looked fine from the outside and was quietly falling apart underneath. She held jobs, went to college, went to beauty school.  She also worked bottle service in Dallas, dated men who weren't available, and kept ignoring an inner voice that was getting louder by the year. The thing that finally made her stop wasn't a gradual awakening. It was a phone call from her doctor in late 2023 telling her she was one stage away from cervical cancer. That week, she left the relationship she was in. A few weeks later, she quit drinking and made the decision to be celibate, both at the same time. She spent 2024 meeting herself for the first time, rebuilding from almost nothing, and figuring out who she actually was without alcohol, without men, and without the nightlife identity she had built her entire social world around. This week I'm doing something a little different. Just me sharing what's been on my heart after celebrating my mom's 80th birthday. My husband spent four nights making 200 handmade pierogi from scratch to surprise her. I put together a slideshow of almost every photo that exists of her life, black and white photos of a little girl in postwar Warsaw, all the way through to the woman she is today, who still swims in the ocean every chance she gets and has more trips planned than I do. And going through all of those photos, I just kept thinking about what it actually took for her to build this life. My parents were born into a Poland that was still being rebuilt after World War II, where the Soviets came in as soon as the Nazis left, where my grandparents had a business the Communist party seized, took the profits, left them the debts. Where waiting ten years for your own apartment was just normal. Where people stood in ration lines for bread that wasn't there. And somehow, in the middle of all of that, my mom had this quiet knowing that she would one day live in the United States. Even while communist propaganda was telling her how horrible it was. She just knew. This episode is about her. I'm in Europe for the next three weeks, mixing a little vacation time with some true crime. Five years after Summer Moon-Utah Wells vanished from her home in Hawkins County, Tennessee, this case still remains unsolved. We're visiting Echo, Utah, a place that held onto murderous secrets for over one-hundred years. I'm starting in the old cemetery near one of the most historic corridors in the American West, then walking into the strange and still unresolved story that seven human skeletons were discovered under a saloon after Echo's railroad boom faded. Summit County's own history page confirms that after the railroad moved on, seven skeletons were found under one saloon, and the surviving Echo Church and School still stands nearby as a witness to that era. Then we're coming forward to the present day where prosecutors in Summit County have now charged Reina Chavez-Sandobal and Francisco Santos-Morales with murder in the death of Juan Manuel Sanchez, whose body was found nearby. Investigators say the victim was drugged, beaten, transported, and dumped and the charging documents outline text messages, surveillance video, a hammer, a blood-stained blanket, and a body-disposal effort that looks far more rushed and disorganized than the alleged suspects are suggesting. What ties these stories together is not just geography. It's behavior. One case reflects how the dead could vanish in a frontier boomtown and stay hidden for generations. The other shows how hard it is to make a body disappear in the modern world of cameras, license plate readers, forensic pathology, and digital evidence. First, I'm going to walk through the 10 biggest takeaways from Part 1 of Savannah Guthrie's interview about her mom, Nancy Guthrie, using the transcript so we're all talking about the same words, not a game of telephone. Second, I'm going to straighten out the date confusion that keeps getting repeated online, January 11, January 24, and January 31. January 31 is the anchor date the public already understands as the last day Nancy was seen, before investigators believe she was taken. January 24 keeps showing up in reporting tied to requests for neighborhood footage. And January 11 is the date that got tangled up in a tech “best guess,” then walked back publicly after Google clarified a suggested date tied to a Nest image could not be confirmed. People Magazine reported Sheriff Chris Nanos withdrew that specific January 11 ask after that clarification.
