Generative AI apps such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, and Claude have rapidly become the go-to parenting sages. Every type of parenting question can be answered efficiently and with (what sounds like) expertise. Undoubtedly, these apps offer parents help during stressful times. But is this the way God intends for us to receive parenting advice and practical wisdom? What is lost when human relationships and struggle are removed from the parenting equation? This week, Jake and Bob reflect on a few topics that were discussed during a recent "Holy Desire" Priest's retreat with the JPII Healing Center. They discuss the connection between communion with God and the removal of pain, how woundedness redirects good desires, and why coping strategies are not usually virtuous. Jake and Bob also answer a few questions received from priests at the retreat, such as—Am I using wounds as an excuse for sin? What is the difference between soul ties and enmeshment? And should I share my wounds with my parents? Key Points: Healing is best understood as an ongoing encounter with God's love that restores communion and is not simply the removal of pain. Pain relief can be a fruit of healing, but it should never become the primary goal over intimacy with God. Broken communion is the reason we experience pain. Wounds often lead us to develop maladaptive responses that we mistakenly elevate into "virtues." Holy desires naturally draw us toward love and communion with God and others. When wounds and vows press down on holy desires, those desires often emerge sideways as disordered desires. Disordered desires are not evil at their core but are distorted expressions of something originally good. Enmeshment reflects a lack of healthy differentiation and often develops within family systems. Soul ties are distorted bonds that form through sin, wounds, or misplaced dependency. Learning to recognize the good desire beneath another's behavior transforms how we relate to them. Love grows when we respond to a person's holy desire rather than reacting to their maladaptive behavior. Discernment, timing, and freedom of heart are essential when considering sharing one's wounds with parents. Often, apps begin with noble intentions of “connection” or “education.” While they promise to be different, they inevitably resort to classic tactics for maximum engagement: streaks, coins, leaderboards, FOMO, and notifications. In this episode, Kelly uncovers this trend using Duolingo and Zigazoo as examples. This trend of app devolution is important for parents to understand. You may not be able to keep track of every app update, but you know your child, and you can recognize when something has changed. After years of doing nothing, Big Tech social platforms started releasing new “teen safety” and “parental controls” to show how much they care about and prioritize children’s safety. The problem with these new safety features is that they are not enough. It’s the design of social media and games that creates spaces of chaos where everyone does what is right in their own eyes. Your butt is not about aesthetics. It is a longevity organ that directly impacts metabolism, brain optimization, resilience, and how long you stay strong as you age. In this episode, you'll learn why strength training and protein intake matter more than body fat percentage, how mitochondria drive human performance and recovery, and why building muscle protects your brain, stabilizes mood, and supports long-term longevity. This conversation reframes biohacking, anti-aging, and health from weight loss to muscle span, the length of time you live with strong, functional skeletal muscle. Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Host Dave Asprey sits down with Gabrielle Lyon, an accomplished physician and New York Times bestselling author of Forever Strong: A New, Science-Based Strategy for Aging Well, and author of the upcoming The Forever Strong Playbook, releasing January 27, 2026. Dr. Lyon pioneered the Muscle-Centric Medicine® approach, which places muscle at the center of disease prevention, metabolic health, and true vitality. She has trained elite athletes, military operatives, and public figures, while also living this philosophy at home as a mother of two with her husband, a retired Navy SEAL. Together, they break down why intermuscular fat may matter more than body fat percentage, how skeletal muscle drives insulin sensitivity and lowers inflammation, and why becoming physically stronger improves brain function and neuroplasticity. They explore protein needs across the lifespan, fasting, ketosis, carnivore-style nutrition, supplements, sleep optimization, and the real tradeoffs of GLP-1 drugs, including the risk of accelerated muscle loss if strength and protein are neglected. The conversation also covers mindset, hormesis, and why physical resilience creates emotional regulation and clearer decision-making in a world increasingly shaped by AI and convenience. This episode is essential listening for anyone serious about biohacking, hacking human performance, longevity, mitochondria, neuroplasticity, nootropics, metabolism, functional medicine, anti-aging strategies, supplements, and living Smarter Not Harder, ideally with a cup of Danger Coffee in hand. You'll Learn: • Why your glutes and skeletal muscle are critical drivers of longevity and brain health • Why intermuscular fat can matter more than body fat percentage for metabolic dysfunction • How strength training improves neuroplasticity, cognition, and emotional resilience • Why protein needs increase with age and why outdated limits can hold you back • What GLP-1 drugs get right, where they fail, and how to protect muscle span • Why progressive stimulus beats lifting heavy for long-term strength and injury prevention • How sleep optimization and recovery support mitochondria and human performance • How building muscle creates clarity, resilience, and better decision-making Dave Asprey is a four time New York Times bestselling author, founder of Bulletproof Coffee, and the father of biohacking. In today's episode, we're talking about recovery in real life — not the quiet, perfectly planned version, but the messy, busy, full one. The one with work deadlines, family stuff, social plans, tired days, and not enough hours in the day. We'll talk about how eating disorder recovery can still be possible when your schedule feels packed, why waiting for the perfect time often keeps you stuck, and how to prioritise nourishment and care without doing it perfectly. This is about letting recovery fit into your life, not the other way around. Small steps. Imperfect days. And choosing yourself even when it feels inconvenient. You're allowed to recover while life keeps happening.Let me know your thoughts! Let's talk about that moment every coach hits at some point — when nothing is selling. The launch flops. The offer lands with a thud. The inbox is quiet. And suddenly your brain starts telling some very convincing (and very dangerous) stories about what that means. In this episode of The Coaching Edge and the accompanying free Offer Diagnostic Worksheet (download HERE), I walk you through what to do before you panic, deep-six your offer, or decide you're “just not cut out for this” and call it quits. Because when nothing is selling, the problem is almost never that you're a bad coach — and believing that can send you straight into a spiral that's hard to climb out of. Instead, I share how I diagnose sales problems using my Business Compass model, how to identify what's actually broken in your sales chain, and what to focus on first so you can get things moving again — calmly, strategically, and without burning your business down. In this episode, I cover: The most dangerous assumption coaches make when sales are slow — and why it's almost never true Why “nothing is selling” is data, not a verdict on your ability as a coach The common (but misleading) fixes coaches jump to when they panic How to audit your business using the North, East, South, and West of the Business Compass How to tell whether you have a visibility problem, a trust problem, or an offer problem Why old-school conversations and direct outreach still work — especially when sales are slow What not to do when things feel quiet (even though it's tempting) If you've been questioning yourself, your offer, or your entire business because sales feel slow right now, this episode will help you step out of emotion and back into clarity — and give you a grounded way forward. Resources: Your free Offer Diagnostic Worksheet (download HERE), which accompanies this episode The Virtual Business Retreat (episode 68 of The Coaching Edge) + your free downloadable Workbook. Traditional networking has always felt uncomfortable for many clinicians, and for those already experiencing burnout, it can feel downright exhausting. Forced small talk, performative professionalism, and transactional relationships only add to the emotional load healthcare providers are already carrying. In this episode, we cover an “anti-networking” approach inspired by Sahil Bloom and his book The 5 Types of Wealth. Rather than collecting contacts, this framework focuses on building genuine, value-aligned relationships that support long-term connection, career sustainability, and fulfillment. You'll learn four practical anti-networking principles: how to choose the right rooms, ask better questions, listen at a deeper level, and follow up in ways that feel authentic (not draining). Whether you're attending a conference like AAPA with fellow physician associates, meeting new team members, or exploring new career paths, these strategies help you build your social wealth without sacrificing your energy or values. In today's episode, we're talking about something that doesn't get enough airtime in recovery — money. How eating disorders can shape the way you spend, save, restrict, or feel anxious around money. And how those patterns often stick around, even when food feels a bit more stable. We'll chat about why eating disorders and money control are so closely linked, how fear and scarcity can show up in spending habits, and why recovery isn't just about food — it's about safety, trust, and self-worth too. I'll also share some reflections from my own experience, because this is something I've had to unpick myself. If you've ever felt guilty spending money on food, support, or yourself, or noticed that financial control feels tied to your eating disorder, this episode will help you feel less alone. This week, I'm helping you rethink goal-setting for 2026 by introducing a different kind of goal — one that makes your business more flexible, sustainable, and profitable. Most coaches set behaviour-based goals: • post 3x/week • hit $10K/month • grow the list by 1,000 • convert 60% of discovery calls But here's the truth: behaviour-based goals require perfection… and perfection is not a thing any of us are capable of maintaining. Instead, I want to teach you how to set feeling-based goals — goals that clarify how you want to feel in your business: confident, grounded, spacious, consistent, organized, aligned. These goals aren't fluffy. They're strategic. They are what actually move the needle in your business. When you feel more confident, you have more sales conversations. When you feel more grounded, your messaging becomes clearer. When you feel more organized, your systems improve — creating more capacity. When you feel more aligned, you show up consistently — which leads to more clients and more revenue. Feeling-based goals fuel the behaviours that drive results. In this episode, you'll learn: The difference between behaviour-based and feeling-based goals Why traditional goal-setting fails most coaches How I use feeling-based goals to run my own business 10 concrete examples of business goals reframed for 2026 Why feeling-based goals still lead to MORE clients, MORE revenue, and BETTER content How to set your own 2026 goals using my simple reflection system If you want 2026 to feel different — calmer, more confident, more grounded — this episode will give you the framework to build a business that actually supports that. Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Teresa Edwards. Purpose of the Interview The interview aims to introduce Teresa Edwards’ book The Mirror Method: 12 Weeks to Stop Abandoning Yourself, a guided workbook designed to help individuals overcome people-pleasing tendencies, set boundaries, and prioritize their own needs without guilt. It focuses on personal empowerment, mental health, and rediscovering one’s authentic self. Key Takeaways People-Pleasing and Boundaries People-pleasing becomes harmful when you agree to things you don’t want to do, leading to stress and resentment. Setting boundaries is essential for self-respect and mental health. The Mirror Method A 12-week guided process to “unravel” harmful patterns and rediscover your true self. Emphasizes self-reflection, journaling, and gradual transformation at your own pace. Selfishness vs. Self-Care Edwards reframes “selfish” as a positive concept: prioritizing your health and happiness is necessary, not negative. You can’t be your best for others if you’re not your best for yourself. Health as a Wake-Up Call Stress is a silent killer; Teresa’s own health issues (high blood pressure) forced her to reevaluate her life. Happiness and well-being should not be age-limited—“You’re never too old to return to yourself.” Letting Go of Toxic Relationships Users often exploit people-pleasers; recognizing and removing such relationships is crucial. Fully committing to the Mirror Method means accepting hard truths and being okay with losing people who drain you. Therapy and Mental Health COVID accelerated acceptance of therapy in communities where it was previously stigmatized. Mental health is as important as physical health—“The mind is a muscle too.” Workbook Details Available on Amazon and at themirrormethodworkbook.com in print and downloadable formats. Exercises involve writing and self-reflection to confront truths and break patterns. Notable Quotes “Boundaries are key.” “Selfish is not a negative word—it’s perseverance of yourself.” “You can’t throw a party and be mad at your own party.” “Enough is enough—look in the mirror and say it.” “You’re never too old to return to yourself.” “Stress is that silent killer.” “Fully commit means accepting all those good, bad, or ugly moments—and being okay with letting go.” “The mind is a muscle too.” “Be okay with being okay.” #SHMS #STRAW #BESTSupport the show: https://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome to the first episode of 2026. I wanted to start the year with a conversation that really matters.Today we're talking about the belief that you might be “too old” to recover from an eating disorder. Maybe you've been struggling for years. Maybe decades. Maybe part of you wonders if this is just how life is now. If you've ever felt embarrassed for still struggling, or told yourself you should be over this by now, this episode is for you. We'll talk honestly about why this belief shows up, how age and time in an eating disorder don't take away your right to heal, and what recovery can actually look like later in life. It's not about doing recovery perfectly or starting from scratch. It's about choosing yourself, wherever you are, and allowing things to be different. You're not behind. You haven't missed your chance. And it's never too late to build a life that feels freer and more peaceful around food and your body.I'm really glad you're here, let's start 2026 with positive recovery vibes!Let me know your thoughts! This week on The Coaching Edge, I'm digging into one of the most important — and most misunderstood — pieces of building a profitable coaching business: conversations. Not funnels. Not fancy sales pages. Not complicated campaigns. Conversations. Real ones. The kind that create connection… and then, eventually, clients. If you're someone who has always felt a little allergic to anything that resembles “traditional sales” — the pushy, aggressive, talk-AT-people kind of sales — this episode will feel like a deep exhale. Because the truth is, you don't need to be good at selling to grow your coaching business. You just need to get good at starting conversations. Inside this episode, I break down: Why conversations are the foundation of my sales model — and why this approach works beautifully for coaches who want selling to feel natural, relational, and grounded in integrity. How connection (not conversion) is what actually leads to clients — and why focusing on the wrong thing in that first conversation can shut things down before they ever start. The mindset shift every coach needs: your only job is to start the conversation. Not sell. Not strategize. Just connect. The dozens of places conversations can begin: past clients, new followers, people who downloaded your freebie, collaborators, referral sources, your own newsletter list, DM check-ins, and so many more. Why I actively “gamify” conversations in my own business and teach the same thing inside the BBB — and why having structure around this is one of the most profitable habits you can build as a coach. The reality that most conversation starters will go ignored… and why that's perfectly fine. It only takes 1 in 5 to create meaningful connection that eventually leads somewhere. If you're ready to make sales feel like being a human again — and to build your 2026 business around practices that actually feel aligned — this episode will give you a whole new way of thinking about selling. In this side piece episode of the 2 Be Better Podcast, we pull back the curtain on our 124 page couples retreat workbook and walk you through exactly what we teach at our marriage retreats. You'll hear us dive into the masculine and feminine, yin and yang dynamics, identity, ego, self discipline, emotional regulation, and how your inner world becomes the atmosphere of your relationship. We read straight from the workbook Peaches built for our 2 Be Better couples retreat and break down chapters on conflict, leadership in the home, time and energy management, communication without assumption, and somatic practices for couples. If you're searching for real marriage advice, couples retreat content, masculine and feminine energy in relationships, or long term relationship tools that actually work in real life, this video gives you a front row seat to how we coach couples at our retreats. You can expect practical frameworks, raw examples, and a ton of journal prompts you can use with your partner tonight, even if you never attend one of our retreats. We walk through how identity and ego show up under pressure, why self regulation and discipline matter more than good intentions, and how to repair small ruptures before they become big resentments. We also unpack how masculine repair and feminine repair look different, how to stay connected when you're both exhausted, and how to build emotional safety so intimacy, affection, and sex actually thrive. Whether you're a married couple, engaged, or in a serious relationship looking for conflict resolution tools, communication skills, and journal prompts for couples, this episode is a full mini workshop on building a steady, intentional, “2 Be Better” kind of marriage.Disclaimer: We are not professionals. Malpractice insurance is something most PAs and other clinicians assume they understand... until something goes wrong. In this episode, Kat sits down with Christopher Cannell, DMSc, MPAS, MPLC, PA-C, DFAAPA, founder of The APC Consultant, for a clear, practical deep dive into malpractice insurance 101 and the medical-legal realities no one teaches us in PA school or on the job. We break down what malpractice insurance actually covers, the key differences between claims-made and occurrence policies, and why employer-provided coverage may not protect you in the way you think it does. Chris explains common assumptions clinicians make about liability insurance, tail coverage, and personal policies, and where those assumptions can quietly put your license, career, and finances at risk. We also go beyond the policy itself to talk about real-world risk management and walk through an anonymized case study that highlights how communication, documentation, and post-event decisions can dramatically affect outcomes. We explore how legal uncertainty contributes to burnout, defensive medicine, and chronic stress, and why legal literacy is an essential (but overlooked) form of clinician self-care. Whether you're early in your PA career or years into practice, this episode will help you feel more confident, informed, and proactive about protecting yourself in today's increasingly complex healthcare environment. Every organization and business in the Media and Technology landscape offers parents ‘Peace of Mind.” They promise peace that only their app or service can deliver: “Peace starts with us.” They offer parents peace as an apology: “We didn’t care about your kid’s safety before, but we do now, and here are some safety features to prove it.” And why is everyone offering parents peace? Because screens and the internet are the greatest source of stress for parents. In this episode, Kelly gives many examples of the ever-so-common promise that specific, better, or new media and technology can give parents the peace of mind they need to allow their kids to use it. Can these products and services actually give peace? Of course not, because peace is a Person named Jesus. Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Dr. Kurt Jones. It focuses on mental resilience, confidence building, and strategies for handling stress and setbacks, while introducing Dr. Jones’ methodology and his mission through Play 21 Wellness Academy. Key Takeaways Mental Health in the Black Community Historically stigmatized; seen as weakness or negativity. Today, awareness is improving, but significant work remains. Customized Approach Dr. Jones does individualized analysis and treatment plans for athletes and business professionals. Rejects “cookie-cutter” solutions—tailors strategies to personal circumstances. The Shelving Method A mental organization system with four shelves: Immediate Shelf: Urgent tasks within 24 hours. Active Shelf: Important but less urgent tasks. Holding Shelf: Items to revisit later. Elimination Shelf: Thoughts/tasks to discard permanently. Helps clients focus on the present and avoid dwelling on past mistakes. Confidence & Setbacks Confidence can collapse after major losses or failures. Strategy: Remind clients of their greatness, review past successes, and rebuild momentum. Consistency and adaptability are key to sustaining success. Play 21 Wellness Academy Founded in memory of Ben Wilson, a top basketball player and Dr. Jones’ best friend. Mission: Support youth athletes, address issues like parent/teacher abuse, and provide mental health resources. Operates as both a nonprofit and for-profit entity. Broader Client Base Works with elite athletes, entrepreneurs, and high-level professionals. Mental clarity and emotional control are critical for success in any field.
