In this episode, I'm sharing what I've been learning firsthand as I declutter and prepare for the upcoming sale of our house, and how this process has completely reshaped the way I think about freedom, finances, and fulfillment. I've realized how much the things we own can quietly drain our time, energy, and even money. I'll cover some helpful decluttering principles that my husband and I have recently implemented as we gradually move toward a more minimalistic lifestyle, including the 20/20 rule, the 90/90 rule, and how to break free from the sunk cost fallacy, along with a few mindset shifts that have helped us let go with intention. You'll learn why simplifying your space is so powerful for both your peace and your financial independence journey. If you've been feeling weighed down by too much “stuff” or craving a simpler, lighter life, this episode will inspire you to start creating more room for what truly matters.

Can a neurodiverse relationship thrive long-term—even when the work feels messy, nonlinear, and hard? In Part 3, the final episode of this roundtable series, Jodi and the panel of neurodiversity experts explore the skills that make progress possible: forgiveness, repair after conflict, and practical tools that help partners bridge intent and impact. This conversation digs into what progress actually looks like (hint: it's not linear), why discomfort is part of the process, and how couples build something that works for them—not just what's “supposed to” work.

In today's episode, we're diving into something that's not talked about enough — the overlap between OCD and eating disorders. If you've ever noticed that your food rules, rituals, or routines feel more like compulsions, or that anxiety drives many of your eating behaviours, this one's for you. I'll break down how OCD and eating disorders can feed into each other, what signs to look out for, and how to start untangling the two so you can move toward real recovery. It's such an important conversation because understanding the why behind your behaviours helps you build the tools to change them. Hope this helps you understand the overlap a little better.Let me know your thoughts! What happens when surrender becomes sacred? When boundaries are not barriers—but bridges to deeper intimacy? Meet one of the most influential voices in modern kink culture. Janet Hardy is today's guest. She's the co-author of the revolutionary The Ethical Slut: A Practical Guide to Polyamory, Open Relationships & Other Adventures and Radical Ecstasy: SM Journeys to Transcendence … to name just two of her books. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience. Listeners of The Weekly Hot Spot podcast, sent in a lot of questions and inspired this intimate conversation.Topics include:The intersections of power, pain, love and liberation.Myths and fears about ethical non-monogamy in kink spaces.Details about the new Workbook for The Ethical Slut. When Janet shares about how real change begins with honest self-inquiry, not permission from others, all three women talk about claiming their own personal erotic power. What does it mean to really choose who you are in your relationships? And, what is beyond tolerating a relationship. Hint: it's not always easy or safe to open up to this view of love and pleasure. Janet talks about building emotional resilience when having these vulnerable conversations. You'll hear Mistress Olivia's personal reflection on how Radical Ecstasy transformed her understanding of Dominance and submission — not as control, but as co-created surrender. “Pain is not the goal. Surrender is.” That one line shifted everything. Together, they explore how power exchange is one of the most intimate acts we're capable of — a dance where trust becomes tangible, and vulnerability becomes strength. We also tackle real listener questions:A trans woman shares her experience of feeling Dominant with male partners and submissive with female ones — is this a known dynamic? Janet offers thoughtful insight into gendered power dynamics and erotic archetypes. For the nervous beginner — especially the "vanilla wife" being asked to step into Dominance — what are the real fears women face? Spoiler: It's not about lack of interest. It's about responsibility, judgment, and the weight of expectation. And then… the eternal debate: Who's really in control — the Domme or the sub? Janet's answer may surprise you. (Hint: It's not a power struggle — it's a paradox.)Finally, for those walking the spiritual edge of kink, we explore how to distinguish emotional overwhelm from authentic spiritual surrender — because not every tear in a scene is transcendence. Some are signals. Learning the difference? That's where true mastery begins. This episode isn't just for kinksters. It's for anyone who's ever loved deeply, feared openly, or longed to be seen. It's about coming into power — not over others, but within yourself.Janet Hardy WebsiteThe Ethical SlutRadical EcstasyMistress Olivia's blog: Experienced Mistressolivia@enchantrixempire.comMistress Erika's blog: Intelligent Phone Fantasyerika@enchantrixempire.comDISCORD: LDWOlivia and LDWErika

In today's episode of the Recover to Flourish podcast, we're unpacking a really harmful myth that so many people in recovery struggle with — the idea that you're not “sick enough” to have an eating disorder. Maybe you've felt like your struggles don't count because you don't look a certain way or haven't hit some invisible threshold. I get it — I've been there too. In this episode, I'll share why this mindset is so damaging, where it comes from, and how to start validating your own experience, no matter what your eating disorder has looked like. You don't have to reach a crisis point to deserve help or healing. Recovery belongs to everyone who's struggling, and I want to help you see that your pain is valid and your recovery is worth it.Let me know your thoughts! Raise your hand if you've scrolled social media and seen the terms “narcissist,” “gaslighting,” and “narcissistic abuse” thrown around like confetti. I know, me too. It can feel like in our rush to name toxic dynamics, we've started pointing fingers everywhere other than to ourselves— what's really going on?This week I sat down with Darren Elliott to explore the pervasive cultural conversation surrounding narcissism. What we uncovered is less about calling people "bad" and more about understanding trauma, emotional immaturity, and the powerful dance of disconnection we all participate in. If you've been wondering how to stop the cycle—in your marriage, your family, or your community—this episode is a courageous starting point.Tune in to learn: How narcissism is actually a set of defenses we use to protect ourselves from disconnection. When one person starts lying or manipulating, we're more likely to "join their dance" by reacting with similar behaviors. The cycle starts when you react to their defensiveness with your ownNarcissism is not only loud and argumentative. The calm, emotionally disconnected partner could be a narcissist too. How to not f*ck up your kids (spoiler alert: by repairing conflict). What percentage of the time you need to show up calm and nailing it in parenthood. A hidden form of emotional abuse and narcissism.

You can find a downloadable version of The Workbook here... INTRODUCTION A New Way of Being Logopraxis is Practical Christianity and offers a way of relating to Sacred Texts that is focused on the examination of our mental life with a view to repentance and applying them to life. Since Logopraxis is an experiential understanding of the relationship between the Word and the inner processes involved in the regeneration of the human mind, understanding our practice is essential; and hopefully this Workbook will be helpful to those actively involved in doing this work. The Logopraxis approach for engaging with the Word is process-orientated and continues to be an experiment for each of us, in how to be in spiritual community through shared, lived experience of how the Word works in our minds and lives. Logopraxis seeks to reorientate our relationship with the Word, and invites us to take the Lord's principles and work with them with a view to confirm their truth in our own experience. The individual practise of gathering material from personal application of the Word is not something done for ourselves alone, but always with a view to supporting our Logopraxis Life Group, each of us offering a direct experience of practicing the Word which creates conditions that open the possibility for the ‘collective human' of the Church to come into being, in whom the Lord dwells. In this way, working creatively and interactively with the Workbook can be another form of prayer – allowing for the Word to broaden our awareness of the Life it contains, and how it lives in others. This new way of being relies on a method of work that is outlined in detail in the following sections, where the practice of placing the Word at the centre of our individual and collective spiritual life is supported; where spiritual literacy is developed and enhanced; where we accept that everything that arises in our life does so under the Lord's Providence, offering material for work; and where the method asks us to submit to the authority of the Word as the Lord, in order to identify, guide and direct our inner work. Spiritual Literacy Thinking spiritually, or practising spiritual literacy skills, underpins all of our Logopraxis work, and relies on the tools detailed throughout the Workbook, particularly in Step 3, How to Meet and the Appendix. It refers to the ability to ‘read 'what presents into our conscious awareness, in the light of what the Word teaches is true. In cultivating these skills, we seek to observe the spiritual principles within the literal meaning of the Text, and from these to then recognise states of thought or feeling that arise in us while engaging with the Word, or while people in our Life Group share their experience with the Word. Our day-to-day activities and relationships are the field in which our inner reactions and responses can be observed, and seen to illustrate what the Word teaches regarding the nature of self and the nature of the Divine, of the Lord. Natural or material thinking is dominated by worldly concerns that involve people (including ourselves), places, events, memories of the past, or projections regarding the future - and in general terms, this mode of thought functions from the belief that what the senses perceive are ‘real 'things. Spiritual thinking is not concerned with that but rather is focused on those things that belong to our states of mind: the relations of goods and truths, thoughts and affections, motivations and intentions, beliefs and attitudes, shunning evils and falsities, and the activity of the hellish proprium and the hells versus what is of the Lord and heaven. So, the practise of spiritual literacy skills involves working to remove the natural material world elements of person, place, time, and space from the content of what we are reading or listening to, and to hold the intention to see how what's being offered might be framed in a way that captures the universal as...
Why did Jonah run from God's call—and what does that reveal about our own hearts? In this episode of Live Like It's True, Erika Van Haitsma joins me to unpack the irony and intensity of Jonah's story, exposing his deep resentment toward the Ninevites and resistance to God's mercy. Welcome back to a brand new season of the Recover to Flourish podcast! In this first episode of Season 4, we're diving into a tricky but super common challenge in recovery: eating when you're not feeling hungry. I know how confusing and even uncomfortable it can feel to eat when your body isn't sending clear hunger signals, and it can make recovery feel a lot harder than it already is. In this episode, I'll share why this happens, what it means for your body and mind, and some practical ways to navigate eating without hunger cues. Recovery isn't about waiting for your body to “tell you it's ready”, it's about trusting yourself, listening differently, and moving forward even when it feels a bit strange.Let's do this together!Let me know your thoughts!
