Hey, Survivor! In this episode, I'm joined by Dr. Regina Ragasa, a triple board-certified physician in Family Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, and Obesity Medicine. We're talking about the gap between health knowledge and real-life behavior change. We explore why trauma survivors often struggle to implement what they already know about health, and how shame, stress, and survival responses can interfere with sustainable lifestyle change. During our conversation, Dr. Ragasa explains her LIVEN Method—a framework centered on Listening, Imperfection, Validation, Empowerment, and Normalization—to help clinicians and patients build trust and create lasting change through human connection. She also talks about the “humble plate” vs. celebratory foods, and how cultural food traditions and identity come into play. If you've ever struggled with knowing what to do but not being able to follow through, this episode is for you. The full post by Cristian Gustavo Gutiérrez Pinzón can be read at https://blog.castac.org/2026/06/is-this-the-end-of-disability-eugenics-and-the-technification-of-normalization/. About the post: New reproductive and bodily intervention biotechnologies not only promise to cure or prevent diseases, but are also shaping a new regime of bodily normalization that redefines which lives are desirable, correctable, or eliminable. For several years, countries such as Iceland have stood out for medical procedures that identify the conditions under which a fetus is developing and then ask parents whether they wish to continue or terminate the pregnancy. Between 80–85% of pregnant women in Iceland undergo prenatal screening and, when the result is positive for trisomy 21, termination rates approach 100%...Geneticist Kari Stefansson, founder of deCODE Genetics, stated: “My understanding is, basically, that we have almost eradicated Down syndrome from our society; there will hardly ever again be a child with Down syndrome in Iceland” (Quijano, 2017). Dr. Elliot Justin — emergency medicine physician, serial entrepreneur, and Founder & CEO of FirmTech — joins us to discuss “erectile fitness” and how sexual health can reveal critical insights about overall wellness. Using data from over 2.4 million erections, he explains the connection between erections, heart disease, sleep, aging, and why many ED diagnoses are misunderstood. Dr. Justin also breaks down the limits of ED pills, the benefits of simple alternatives like rings, and why men's health conversations need less stigma and more science.
Have you ever questioned why you believe what you believe, or have you simply accepted things because they've been normalized around you? In Part 3 of the "Super Spiritual" series, we are pulling back the mask on psychological conditioning and modern brainwashing operating under the guise of extra-holy performance.Through the lens of an aggressive, real-world encounter and a deep dive into historical compromises, this episode exposes the subtle ways toxic church environments pull people in and alter how they think without them ever realizing it. We break down the mechanics of spiritual control into three dangerous components:The Normalization of Behavior: How toxic patterns become everyday routines, contrasted against the true biblical renewal of the mind found in Romans 12:2.The Architecture of the Crowd: How our fundamental human desire to belong can be weaponized to force compliance, exposed by secular social experiments and the shocking crowd whiplash of Acts 14.The Weaponization of Fear: How structural intimidation and spiritual threats are used to demand blind submission, just like the religious elites forced upon the family in John 9.If you have ever carried the heavy weight of church hurt, felt bullied into ungodly compliance, or viewed your salvation as mere "hell insurance," this message is a rescue mission. Discover how true Kingdom transformation doesn't run on the engine of fear, but on the radical kindness of God (Romans 2:4) that leads to authentic heart renovation. It's time to reject the spell of what has always been allowed, pull down the pedestals, and step into true spiritual freedom.—To connect, learn more or donate, visit gravetopchurch.com Follow us on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok by searching @gravetopchurch

Thanks to our Partners, Pico Technology, Autel, and Independent Wrench JobsWatch Full Video EpisodeMatt Fanslow revisits the Challenger disaster, not just as a historical tragedy, but as a case study in how standards, tolerances, and risk perception can shift over time. The common simplified story is that management ignored engineers, pushed the launch forward, and disaster followed. While that is part of the story, Matt looks at the deeper concept sociologist Diane Vaughan identified: normalization of deviance. The Challenger disaster happened 73 seconds after launch in 1986, killing all seven astronauts onboard. The failure was traced to O-rings in the solid rocket boosters that lost sealing ability in unusually cold conditions. But the broader lesson is not simply that one part failed. It is that warning signs had appeared before, yet each successful mission expanded the boundary of what NASA considered acceptable. What would have once been treated as outside tolerance gradually became normal.Matt connects this idea to the phrase, “slowly, then all at once,” often used to describe the collapse of relationships, marriages, systems, and businesses. The visible failure may seem sudden, but the conditions that made it possible usually developed over a long period of tolerated drift. From there, the discussion moves into automotive repair. Shops can experience the same pattern with ADAS calibrations, wheel torque procedures, tire repairs, safety glasses, uniforms, training expectations, and other operating standards. A procedure gets missed once. Nothing bad happens. It gets missed again. Still nothing bad happens. Eventually, the shop no longer treats the original standard as the standard at all. The absence of immediate consequences becomes false evidence that the deviation is safe.Matt uses ADAS calibration as a major example. A shop may begin by following OEM procedures after alignments or repairs, but over time, scheduling problems, delays, cost pressure, or customer pushback can lead to skipped calibrations. If no warning lights appear and no customer complains, the skipped step starts to feel acceptable. But that does not mean the risk disappeared. It may simply mean the failure has not happened yet.The episode also references tire repair liability and the John Eagle collision repair case as examples of what can happen when accepted industry habits conflict with OEM procedure. The lesson is not that every shop owner or technical specialist who drifts from procedure is malicious. The more uncomfortable lesson is that drift is natural. That is exactly why it has to be recognized and managed.Matt closes by encouraging listeners to look around their own shops and ask where tolerance has expanded without conscious approval. Are torque procedures still being followed? Are retorques still being performed? Are safety practices still enforced? Is training still treated as essential? Are customer-facing and liability-related procedures being maintained, or have they quietly become optional?Key ThemesNormalization of deviance: The gradual process where unacceptable practices become accepted because nothing bad happens immediately.Challenger as a system failure: The O-ring failed physically, but the larger failure involved shifting standards, repeated warning signs, and expanded tolerance.“Slowly, then all at once” Major failures often appear sudden, but the underlying drift usually develops over time.Automotive examples: ADAS calibrations, tire repairs, torque sticks, wheel retorques, safety glasses, uniforms, training, and shop SOPs can all become vulnerable to tolerance drift.OEM procedures and liability: The episode reinforces the importance of following documented procedures, especially where safety, liability, and driver-assistance systems are involved. Not always malicious: Deviance can become normalized without anyone consciously deciding to take a major risk.Memorable Ideas“What would have failed in 1981 passes in 1986.”“The tolerance for acceptability expanded.”“It happened slowly and then all at once.”“It's not a problem until it is, and then it's a big problem.”“The absence of consequences is not the same thing as proof of safety.”Listener TakeawayEvery shop has standards that were created for a reason. Some protect quality. Some protect the customer. Some protect the business. Some protect people's lives. The danger is that those standards can erode so gradually that no one notices until the failure is already public, expensive, or irreversible. Thanks to our Partner, Pico TechnologyAre you chasing elusive automotive problems? In a world that demands instant results, we’ve found a thousand new ways to numb the pain of existence. Join Dr. James Spencer and Dr. Ben Mathew for the final installment of our series as they tackle the normalization of "quick-fix" drugs—from anabolic steroids and TRT in the fitness world to the rise of GLP-1s like Ozempic. We explore the dangerous trade-offs of modern biohacking and why the Christian life calls us to lean into the "friction" of reality rather than anesthetizing ourselves against it. If you've ever felt the pressure to "optimize" your body at the expense of your soul, this conversation is for you. In this episode, we discuss: The Normalization of Performance Enhancers: Why younger generations are turning to steroids and TRT for social media clout. The "Numbing" Culture: How we use substances to avoid the "existential sniffles" and the discomfort of growth. The GLP-1 Wave: Examining the psychological and spiritual implications of the newest drug trends. Sanctification vs. Optimization: Why the Christian walk requires "grit" and "friction" that a pill or injection can’t provide. Working Toward Your Own Dismissal: A challenge to leaders and counselors to build structures that help people find freedom, not just temporary relief. Political violence is escalating, and the left's political violence problem can't be ignored. This episode exposes how media narratives, Democratic rhetoric, and selective data create a permission structure for violence. The latest Trump assassination attempt is not an isolated incident. Professor Nick Giordano breaks down the pattern of political violence targeting Trump, conservatives, Supreme Court justices, Republican lawmakers, and public figures, while exposing how the media deflects, manipulates data, and hides behind January 6 whenever the facts become inconvenient. What You'll Learn How the phrase "Friendly Federal Assassin" reveals the moral permission structure behind political violence Why Obama's post after the manifesto release looked more like narrative control than unity The partial list of assassination attempts and politically motivated attacks the media downplays • How datasets manipulate the "right-wing violence" narrative by excluding BLM riots, anti-ICE attacks, anti-Tesla attacks, and anti-Israel violence Why figures like Luigi Mangione and Hasan Piker reveal a growing culture where violence is framed as moral virtue This is not a generic "both sides" lecture. It is a deeper look at the rhetoric, data games, and moral inversion fueling America's political violence crisis.

The Dangerous Normalization of Political Assassination Rhetoric
Teachers’ Unions as Political Power Brokers Major teachers’ unions (e.g., NEA, AFT) have contributed over $1 billion to left‑wing political causes over the past decade. This funding overwhelmingly supports Democratic candidates, progressive activism, and ideological causes unrelated to education. Education System as Ideological Indoctrination Unions have shifted from focusing on education (reading, writing, math) to political indoctrination of students. Declining academic performance is linked to this ideological focus rather than educational reform. Coerced Union Participation Teachers are forced to contribute union dues and face professional consequences if they dissent, framing this as coercive or unethical. Link Between Education, Ideology, and Political Violence Left‑leaning control of education has normalized hatred of conservatives, Christians, and Donald Trump. There is a direct causal line between: union political spending, ideological education, polling data suggesting some Democrats justify political violence, and alleged assassination attempts on Donald Trump. Normalization of Political Violence 25% of Democrats believe political violence can be justified. This reflects a broader cultural shift allegedly driven by education and political messaging. Democratic Strategy Framing Democrats deliberately pursued a “long game” by controlling education from elementary school through universities to shape future voters. Education institutions are culture‑shaping tools rather than neutral public services. Call to Parental Action This is a warning to parents for continued and increased involvement in school boards. This activism is a response to loss of trust, lack of accountability, and ideological overreach. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. Navigating the New Normal in Distressed Real EstateWelcome back to another essential update for real estate investors, note buyers, and market watchers! We are officially in Q2 of 2026, and the landscape of distressed property is shifting rapidly. In this episode, we dive deep into the latest data from the Texas foreclosure auctions and broader national trends. Is the market entering a crisis, or are we simply returning to pre-pandemic normalization? Whether you are looking for residential opportunities in Harris County or commercial assets in North Texas, this episode provides the data-backed roadmap you need to stay ahead of the curve.National Trends & Q1 Market DataWe kick things off by breaking down the latest quarterly report from Auction.com, featuring insights from industry expert Darren Blomquist. Across the USA, we are seeing a significant return to 2020 levels of market stress.National Volume Spike: Foreclosure auction volume increased 33% in 2026, reaching a six-year high.Widespread Distress: 44 states and the District of Columbia reported annual increases in foreclosure volume.Normalization vs. Crisis: While volume is up, the data suggests a steady "normalization" to pre-pandemic levels rather than a sudden market crash.Equity Erosion: Average equity for scheduled foreclosures has declined to 26.9%—a 13% drop year-over-year—driven by cooling property values. The REO Shift: Banks are increasingly taking properties back at auction and listing them as REOs on digital platforms at "market-attuned" pricing. The Texas Lone Star Update: May 2026As one of the leading foreclosure states in the country, Texas is seeing a fascinating month-over-month shift. We break down the residential and commercial filings for May:The Monthly Drop: Despite an annual upward trend, May saw 3,774 filings—a 20% decrease from April.Commercial Snapshot: There are 456 commercial filings across Texas this month, with North Texas (DFW area) leading the charge at 144 filings.County Breakdown:Harris County: Remains a powerhouse with 698 residential filings.Bexar County: Holding steady with 397 filings.Dallas & Tarrant: Seeing slight month-over-month declines but still high-volume markets. The "Zero" List: Notably, Fort Bend and Montgomery counties showed zero scheduled foreclosures in the reported data for this specific period.Strategies for InvestorsWe also discuss how to capitalize on these trends, including a recap of our session with Texas legend Arnie Abramson on making money at tax sales. Learn why buyers are currently paying roughly 67 cents on the dollar for auction assets and how "bid-ask spreads" are narrowing as sellers adjust to sluggish conditions. Conclusion: Take Action in the Distressed MarketThe numbers don't lie—the foreclosure supply is rebuilding, and the opportunities for prepared investors are growing. Don't wait for the competition to catch up. Use the resources mentioned in today's show, like Roddy's List and Foreclosure.com, to do your due diligence and start bidding with confidence. Did you know the habits and environment you create in your child's first six years can shape how they focus and function for life? In this episode of Productivity Smarts, Gerald J. Leonard sits down with Teresa Angeles, a Montessori educator, parent mentor, and author of The Montessori Home and Beyond. Together, they explore how early childhood development connects directly to adult productivity, and how a Montessori approach can bring more calm, clarity, and intention into everyday life. Teresa explains the Montessori method in a practical way, showing how ideas like the "Absorbent Mind" and a thoughtfully prepared environment influence both children and adults. Backed by modern neuroscience, these principles help us raise emotionally balanced kids while also becoming more focused and less stressed ourselves. Hear simple but powerful insights, like how clutter affects your nervous system, why following curiosity helps you get into flow, and how your surroundings quietly shape your behavior. The conversation also touches on epigenetics, highlighting how a peaceful, organized space can support productivity at a deeper level. Teresa shares easy, actionable steps you can start using right away to create a more supportive environment, whether you have children or not. In this episode of Narcissist Apocalypse, Brandon explores why red flags in abusive relationships rarely look like red flags at the beginning. What starts as confusion, discomfort, or a moment that feels easy to explain away can slowly become a pattern over time. This episode examines the psychology behind that process, including attachment bias, gradual desensitization, shifting baselines, and intermittent reinforcement. Because by the time the pattern becomes visible, many survivors are already emotionally attached, deeply invested, and questioning why they didn't see it sooner. This is an episode about why the signs were not always obvious, how abuse becomes normalized, and why recognition often comes much later. On February 17, nine backcountry skiers were taken by an avalanche at Frog Lake, in the Northern Sierra Nevada near Truckee, California. Since then, the sense of loss and confusion over what happened has been overwhelming. This accident has impacted everyone in the Truckee and Lake Tahoe community on some level. Because of pending investigations, there are so many unanswered questions that will remain unanswered for a long time.As the community struggles to understand, people around the world continue to die in avalanches, including our friend, Stratton Matteson, who was taken by an avalanche in British Columbia a week after the Frog Lake accident. A gut punch made worse by finding out only minutes after we recorded the recap of our trip to Frog Lake. A trip to Frog Lake ending only 48 hours before the accident. Losing Stratton as we recorded made us realize it was too early to share. We needed more time to look inward and reflect. This episode is our second attempt, focused on the realizations we've had in the 18 days since the incident, and what we can all personally do to honor the lives lost, as well as move forward with compassion and a commitment to being safe and making smart decisions every time we step into the backcountry. We send our deepest sympathies to everyone involved in this tragic accident, and we encourage you to consider making a contribution to Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue. We also urge you to not forget the names of those lost: Carrie Atkin, Lizabeth Clabaugh, Danielle Keatley, Kate Morse, Caroline Sekar, Katherine Vitt, Nicole Choo, Andrew Alissandratos, Michael Henry. 2:10 – 75 percent of this winter's snow came from 2 storms.8:00 – Reflecting on the moments leading up to the avalanche near Frog Lake on February 17.9:00 – Being pulled into the media frenzy in the hours after the avalanche.10:20 – Why we decided to speak up to the media about the avalanche.11:30 – The major red flag: the snowfall forecast.15:35 – Trail Whisperer issues an apology to families of the victims regarding our story in the New York Times.18:50 – The 8 Cs of dealing with a community tragedy.22:30 – The culture of judgement of avalanche accidents in the U.S.27:00 – Tom's sobering realization skiing on the Tuesday of the avalanche.32:15 – It's ok to not travel on high avalanche danger days.35:00 – Pow Bot shares his revelations from soul searching after the accident.37:20 – The Normalization of Deviance42:45 – Reviewing the Sierra Avalanche Center report of the avalanche below Perry's Peak.49:45 – Reviewing the human factor in avalanches from Bruce Tremper's book, Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain.53:50 – Accountability – know what you're stepping out into, even if you are with a guide, and don't be afraid to speak up.55:40 – Planning around safety and implementing processes to eliminate group think.59:50 – Knowing your team, their specialties and how you can leverage them.1:02:20 – “Stick with the plan” versus “sick with the plan” and establishing the leader.1:04:35 – The importance of the debrief at the end of the day.1:06:10 – Matteo – East Coast Matt – calls in on the COR LORD hotline.1:08:20 – DOPE OR DERP – East coast backcountry skiing.1:09:30 – The importance of hiring a guide to help you learn the backcountry.1:12:00 – The assumption of risk and respecting people's differing levels of risk.1:13:50 – The boys get fired up for their trip to Ice Creek Lodge in British Columbia, Canada.1:18:00 – Honoring the life of Stratton Matteson – a legend taken way too early.1:22:50 – The funny story of Pow Bot's incident command rescuing a family member.

Episode 6: The Normalization Effect: How and Why We Accept More Than We Realize . We are not overwhelmed because the world suddenly became chaotic. We are overwhelmed because human beings adapt faster than they understand what they're adapting to. . In this episode of The Polymathic Perspective, Dov Baron examines the psychology of normalization, how constant exposure to disruption, information overload, and repeated emotional stimuli quietly recalibrates human perception, decision-making, and cultural behavior. . This is not about agreeing with change. It's about how the brain, the nervous system, and social belonging mechanisms adjust so we can continue functioning, often without realizing what we've learned to tolerate. In This Episode, We Explore: The psychology of adaptation and why repeated exposure lowers emotional response over time How cognitive overload pushes humans toward faster decisions and simplified thinking The difference between resilience, which protects values, and normalization, which can shift them Why humans mirror their environments and how culture changes through imitation, not argument How modern media environments transformed information from occasional input into constant atmosphere The hidden feedback loop where individual coping behaviors reshape collective norms Why normalization often feels like fatigue, burnout, or numbness rather than moral change How rapid technological change now outpaces human reflection and ethical meaning-making What this means for leadership, culture, and decision-making in an age of continuous exposure A Question to Carry With You What is something you tolerate today that would have deeply disturbed you ten years ago? Not something you support. Something you've simply adapted to. Awareness begins there. Why This Matters Normalization doesn't happen because people abandon their principles. It happens because human beings are extraordinarily good at adjusting to repeated conditions in order to survive, belong, and continue. . Understanding that process is essential for anyone trying to lead, think clearly, or make decisions inside an environment defined by constant information and emotional saturation.
402-521-3080In this conversation, Stephanie Olson and Rebecca Saunders delve into the controversial topic of ethical pedophilia, exploring the distinction between feelings and actions, the role of shame, and the societal implications of normalizing harmful desires. They discuss the importance of support systems for individuals struggling with these feelings while emphasizing the need for safeguards to protect children. The conversation highlights the complexities of identity and the dangers of acceptance in a context that could lead to harm. takeawaysEthical pedophilia is a controversial term that distinguishes between attraction and action. There is a significant difference between having harmful desires and acting on them.Shame can play a role in recognizing and addressing harmful desires.Normalizing harmful desires can lead to dangerous societal implications.Support systems should focus on preventing harm while acknowledging intrinsic value.Desires should not define a person's identity; actions do.Removing obstacles is crucial for individuals seeking help. The push for acceptance can lead to normalization of harmful behaviors.Children cannot consent, and their protection is paramount.Conversations about these topics are necessary but must be approached with caution.Chapters00:00 Understanding Ethical Pedophilia04:26 The Distinction Between Feelings and Actions07:09 The Role of Shame in Human Behavior12:32 The Push for Acceptance of Minor Attracted Persons15:45 The Growth of Identity and Its Implications16:50 Understanding the Complexity of Attraction18:02 The Role of Art and Expression in Attraction20:02 The Debate on Control and Responsibility21:03 Navigating Language and Terminology22:28 The Importance of Support and Prevention24:29 Safeguards and Professional Boundaries25:31 The Challenge of Identity Labels27:19 Minor Attracted Persons and Support Groups30:06 The Spectrum of Beliefs within the MAP Community34:17 Concluding Thoughts on Protection and Prevention35:12 R&R Outro.mp4Support the showEveryone has resilience, but what does that mean, and how do we use it in life and leadership? Neoborn Caveman offers a raw, deeply personal pro-humanity reflection on the engineered loneliness epidemic, openly admitting his own shift from “alone but not lonely” to genuinely lonely, examining the WHO's declaration of loneliness as a global public health threat with health impacts comparable to long-term heavy smoking, dissecting the BBC's largest study revealing that people surrounded by others still feel profound isolation because “nobody really understands me,” critiques dating apps and digital platforms as revenue machines structurally designed to prolong disconnection rather than resolve it, traces the systematic dismantling of organic community structures like churches, pubs, and neighborhoods, and calls for reclaiming authentic human connection through simple, screen-free acts of presence.Key TakeawaysLoneliness stems from lack of true understanding, not physical isolation.Digital platforms profit from keeping people searching but never finding.Organic community structures have been deliberately replaced by monetized simulations.Cultural advice funnels people toward corporate solutions that worsen the problem.AI companions and wellness apps sell back what was taken for free.Normalization of digital interaction has rewritten the rules of human encounter.Refusal of the system is increasingly framed as suspicious or difficult.Small acts of real presence can still pierce the architecture of isolation.Personal vulnerability can spark wider collective awareness.Humanity requires deliberate, inconvenient choices to remain connected.Sound Bites“The World Health Organization declared loneliness a global public health threat.”“loneliness has almost nothing to do with being alone, people surrounded by friends, family, colleagues, the whole social apparatus intact and functioning, still reported profound isolation.”“the most common definition of loneliness in the study was not ‘I have nobody' but ‘I have nobody who really understands me.'”“dating platforms harvest intimate data at a scale and specificity that no intelligence agency in history has matched.”“every platform that promises to bring you closer to people is, by structural necessity, designed to keep you on the platform, not to connect you and release you but to connect you just enough that you return.”“the supply chain from the demolition of organic community to the sale of its digital replacement runs through the same set of interests and the same set of beneficiaries.”“maybe that is where it starts, if it starts anywhere.”Join the tea house at patreon.com/theneoborncavemanshow —free to enter, real talk, lives, no ads, no algorithms.keywords: loneliness epidemic, loss of agency, digital isolation, dating apps critique, organic community demolition, AI companions, surveillance capitalism, engineered disconnection, human connection, public health threatHumanity centered satirical takes on the world & news + music - with a marble mouthed host.Free speech marinated in comedy.Supporting Purple Rabbits.Viva los Conejos Morados. Neoborn Caveman delivers a pro-humanity critique of compliance experiments reshaping choices into cages, exposing how banks, parking, and services add friction to analog options through app mandates while presenting digital paths as convenient, warns of inertia leading to total tracking where refusal becomes suspicious, highlights how each reasonable rung builds inescapable infrastructure linking to digital IDs and programmable currency, and urges embracing inconvenience now through cash use and analog insistence to preserve autonomy before alternatives vanish.Key TakeawaysCompliance relies on voluntary inertia.Friction disguises digital mandates.Analog alternatives become burdensome.Normalization expands control scope.Refusal signals wrongdoing in systems.Infrastructure locks in surveillance.Inconvenience preserves future options.Cash maintains independent choices.Awareness breaks gradual entrapment.Humanity requires deliberate resistance.Sound Bites"Have you noticed how we're living through the largest compliance experiment in human history, and most people think they're just getting better customer service?""The world is being reshaped so that certain choices become nearly impossible to make.""Many banks now require app-based authentication for anything beyond basic logins.""Don't have a smartphone? Leaders often try to "brute force" AI adoption, only to find their best people pushing back. The blame often goes to a lack of skill. But this friction is actually caused by a crisis of identity where high performers feel their professional value is being replaced by an algorithm. To overcome this means moving from "enforcement" to "normalization" by focusing on how people actually work. In this episode of Future Ready Today, I break down eight exclusive insights from Uber's CTO, Praveen Neppalli Naga, on why organizational velocity, not just efficiency, is the new competitive divide. Expect a deep dive into why ROI obsession sabotages growth, how to disassemble jobs into tasks, and why the real risk of AI isn't job loss, but the threat of rogue agents. We also unpack why HR and Tech must now operate as a single leadership system to keep culture from becoming purely software-driven. ---------- Quick heads-up: my new book, The 8 Laws of Employee Experience, is a practical playbook for building an environment where people do their best work—order a copy here: 8EXlaws.com
Neoborn Caveman delivers a pro-humanity critique of facial recognition surveillance turning shoppers into suspects, exposing how stores like ShopRite, Wegmans, and UK chains like Sainsbury's scan faces without meaningful consent to create digital fingerprints checked against ban databases, warns of permanent data retention and sharing even on mistakes, highlights disproportionate harm to marginalized communities through error-prone tech, and calls for resistance through boycotting, legislation, and refusing normalization before infrastructure locks in total tracking linked to digital IDs and currencies.Key TakeawaysFacial scanning erodes privacy without consent.Databases turn errors into permanent records.Tech normalizes surveillance as safety.Marginalized groups face amplified harms.Corporate profit drives data collection.Resistance preserves future choices.Normalization leads to expanded control.Boycotts challenge infrastructure growth.Transparency exposes system biases.Humanity demands alternative paths.Sound Bites"Have you been paying attention to what's happening when you walk into a grocery store?""cameras mounted at the entrance are scanning your face, measuring the distance between your eyes, the shape of your nose, the contours of your jaw.""They're creating what they call your 'facial geometry'—basically a digital fingerprint of your face—and checking it against a database.""You didn't agree to this. Most people don't even know it's happening.""ShopRite stores across Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey have been doing this for years.""ShopRite keeps your facial data for 90 days if you're not flagged. If their system thinks you match someone who's been banned—even by mistake—your data gets kept permanently and shared across all their locations plus their third-party tech provider.""This isn't just ShopRite. This is becoming standard practice.""Wegmans is doing it. In the UK, Sainsbury's just expanded their facial recognition system to additional stores after what they called a 'seismic' drop in theft at their trial locations.""This is about normalization. This is about building the infrastructure. This is about getting people used to the idea that being surveilled is just part of shopping now. Just part of existing in public.""Once that's normalized, once the cameras are installed and the databases are built, the scope of what they're used for will expand. Sports betting is exploding across the country. With online platforms, mobile apps, and aggressive marketing, it's never been easier to gamble — or easier to hide it. What many view as harmless entertainment may actually be reshaping how we think about money, community, and even discipleship.Pastor and author Kyle Worley—Lead Pastor of Mosaic Church in Richardson, Texas, co-host of the Knowing Faith podcast, and author of Home with God: Our Union with Christ—recently wrote on this growing trend for Faithful Steward magazine. Today, he joins the show to explain why the rise of sports gambling deserves more careful thought from believers.A Different Kind of GamblingSports gambling carries a unique appeal. Unlike casinos or the lottery, it taps into nostalgia, play, and community.“Sports connect to childhood memories and communal experiences,” Worley notes. “That nostalgia makes sports betting feel natural, even harmless.”The danger lies in how subtly wagering attaches itself to something already meaningful—games shared with friends, family, or childhood heroes—making it easier to dismiss spiritual risks. What Does Scripture Actually Say?The Bible does not explicitly outlaw gambling. But it repeatedly warns against the desire for quick, hasty gain. Worley points to 1 Timothy 6:9–10, noting that it speaks directly to the temptations and destruction tied to wealth pursued rapidly and without wisdom. Gambling fits that pattern.Scripture's concern is not merely financial but formational. Gambling trains us to view wealth through the lens of chance, speed, and self-interest—the opposite of stewardship, patience, and contentment. The spiritual stakes aren't just internal. They are profoundly communal. Worley cites Old Testament scholar Bruce Waltke:“The righteous disadvantage themselves for the sake of the community; the unrighteous advantage themselves at the expense of the community.”Modern betting apps are built on asymmetric outcomes—they profit only because others lose. And statistically, those losses fall disproportionately on the vulnerable. Many platforms use predatory models:Winners face worse odds or even shuttered accountsConsistent losers are enticed with better odds and larger limitsWorley compares it to handing a chainsaw to a child—unjust simply because not everyone absorbs the harm equally.Normalization and Cultural FormationSports gambling has moved from taboo to mainstream with startling speed. Betting lines now appear on ESPN, broadcasts, and social media—even during youth-oriented sports programming. The result: a generation being formed to see gambling as normal and morally neutral.Worley warns that where gambling proliferates, other forms of exploitation follow — including human trafficking during major sporting events. While the Bible may speak indirectly about gambling, it speaks directly about exploitation. Some point to the biblical practice of casting lots as justification for gambling. Worley draws a sharp distinction:Casting lots was a religious act of trust—not a wager. It carried no profit motive and served no entertainment purpose. Reframing it as support for modern gambling misunderstands its role entirely. How Churches Can Disciple BetterFor pastors and ministry leaders, Worley offers three recommendations:Talk More About Money - Many Christians lack a positive theology of wealth. That vacuum leaves them vulnerable to cultural narratives.Address “Respectable” Vices - Gambling isn't the only fun, socially accepted vice that harms stewardship. Churches must disciple beyond obvious sins.Create Healthy Avenues for Play and Connection - Sports betting offers counterfeit community, especially for men. Churches should provide better alternatives. The Wisdom Required TodayIn the end, debates about whether gambling is technically permissible miss the deeper biblical question: Does this help me love God and neighbor well?Worley's counsel is simple: navigate these decisions in community, under Scripture, with wisdom. Bill Roggio Roggio characterizes Western policy as an "absolute mess," arguing the US has conceded safe havens to jihadists in both Afghanistan and Syria. He criticizes the normalization of Ahmed al-Shara, noting that al-Shara never denounced his oath of allegiance to Al-Qaeda, yet is being treated as a potential partner. Roggio warns that while the US focuses on the Islamic State, jihadists are on a rampage across Africa and Syria, capitalizing on the strategic failures of multiple US administrations.1935 Abyssinians
