what kind of day has it been?
The Last Podcast by Zac Little is a truly exceptional podcast that showcases Zac's artistic talents and his unique perspective on various subjects. I have been following Zac for years, and I can confidently say that he is one of my dearest long distance acquaintances. His dedication and effort in producing this podcast are unparalleled, and it truly shines through in each installment. While his video work has always brought me joy, this podcast takes his creativity to a whole new level. Zac's sharp wit and insightful thoughts make each episode entertaining and rewarding to listen to.
One of the best aspects of The Last Podcast is Zac's ability to delve deep into different mediums and topics. He covers everything from local issues to urgent matters of the heart, all with a genuine care and kindness that is evident in his work. Each episode feels like a creative jumping off point, reminding us of the accessibility of this medium if we're willing to open up and embrace it. The amount of thought and insight put into each episode is truly remarkable and makes this podcast stand out among others.
As for the worst aspects, there really aren't many. Occasionally, Zac's manner of speaking may go over some listeners' heads due to its rapid-fire speech style reminiscent of Aaron Sorkin's dialogue. However, even if you don't catch every detail, it doesn't detract from the overall enjoyment of the podcast. It may just require a bit more focus or listening back to fully grasp every nuance.
In conclusion, The Last Podcast by Zac Little is an earnest, intimate, and rewarding experience that should not be missed. If you are someone who appreciates media that portrays the human experience in all its varied forms, then this podcast is definitely for you. It captures the essence of creativity and drive while also being incredibly funny and entertaining. It has personally had a positive impact on my life, inspiring me as an unmotivated high-school student to have a better grasp on the world. Zac's passion and dedication shine through in this podcast, making it a must-listen for anyone interested in thought-provoking, artistically-driven content.

One time I started writing a poem called DON DRAPER SELLS ME A USED CAR, which I never finished but here's what I got: DON DRAPER SELLS ME A USED CAR Don Draper slurred at us in a precovid conference room: You must remember this. For a moment we believed in the promise of a past we could trust, could hold aside, preserved. I think all my earliest memories were actually home video (You must remember this) Recorded, and played back, ceaselessy against the past So I picked up a camera and got in the business of making false memories. The old ones I once believed in are gone now Dissolved on magnetic tape. Teddy told me that "lacuna" means a hole in the bone We use it to refer to gap in the fossil record. We assume it is there, though. It has to be.

The first in a series! Morgan and Zac get together to each select 10 songs from 2003 to create a mixtape that represents the best and most on-brand (for us) songs of the year. I don't want to put the list of songs or a playlist in the video info yet because I think it's fun to listen along. But if you look back at this podcast in a couple of days I will edit this description to include one. Thanks for listening!

a new episode of MAKE A MIXTAPE, a podcast by zac little
this episode was recorded w/ friend of the pod tom -- a while ago. it was actually the first mixtape interview, before it was even a done deal that the podcast was changing over to this format more or less permanently. it was recorded a couple of days after i released an episode called "document drama/quarantine the past" and toward the end, we talk about it. tom's mixtape boys of summer - don henley echoes - pink floyd for sure - future island late night - ODESZA all for the best - thom yorke my girls - animal collective our house - CSNY additional songs boys of summer/what you need (zl mashup) spiders (kidsmoke)/clubhouse (zl mashup) i don't live today - jimi hendrix a hard rain's a-gonna fall (live) - bob dylan foxglove - murder by death (jam in the van version)
as of today, august 2nd, guardians of the galaxy volume 3 is on disney+ (at least in the usa), which seems like a great time to drop me and morgan's conversation about it from back when we'd both recently caught it in theaters. watch the movie, come back here, listen to our chat. or whatever, i mean, do what you want. it's a free country. episode includes the following mashups/songs "i'm always chasing rainbows" - alice cooper "solsbury hill" - peter gabriel "solsbury hill/big bank" - peter gabriel x yg (zl mashup) "dog days are over" - florence + the machine "dog days are over/the hillbillies" - florence x baby keem (zl mashup) "king kunta/come and get your love/encore" - kendrick lamar x redbone x jay z (zl mashup) "that's right" - girl talk (spacehog sample) "i'm always chasing rainbows" - jazz piano "no sleep till brooklyn/sweet home alabama" beastie boys x lynryrd skynyrd (zl mashup)
Quick note on spoilers! While we do talk about a bunch of TV shows, movies, and books in this episode, nothing in particular is really spoiled about ANY of them — sensitivity to spoilers—and where Zac P. and I have fairly different and yet complimentary philosophies about them — in fact being a major topic of reflection here. The only movie that I would say is significantly spoiled is The Fugitive, starring Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones, the 1993 film. And we don't talk about that until the very end of the episode, so like, if its on your list on Max and you haven't quite gotten to it — first of all I totally get it —just jump off the episode when you get there. Songs in this episode: Crown on the Ground, Sleigh Bells Stay Down Man, Dan Reeder Stay Down Man, boygenius Various bits from the Succession and Station Eleven scores I'm Not Part of Me, Cloud Nothings Mashup of Time After Time, Cindy Lauper / Demon Time, Lil Yachty Mashup of Wayside/Back in Time, Gillian Welch, Lifetime Income, Larry June
