Episode 15: Working on a Cruise Ship & Working as an Industrial Hygienist

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 4, 2023 47:35

Thanks for joining me once again! Wishing you the best! I thought it would be neat to talk on what may interest others in the field of consultant work, working on a cruise ship, how we wonder how things are made, working in manufacturing plants like the Ford F150 plant, Harley Davidson, Mass Production food plants, etc. These were just some of my experiences working as an "Industrial Hygiene Consultant" aka an EHS(Environmental, Health, and Safety) specialist. I did this for nearly three years after getting one of my Bachelor's Degrees in Public Health Industrial Hygiene and pursued it as my career post graduation. This is why we moved from Utah to Houston. This is what allowed me to travel several times a month for work. This is what brought me the opportunity to head for Japan for the first time and work on the Diamond Princess and three other ships. I feel so thankful and wanted to share some experiences.I also wanted to speak on safety tips and information I wish people knew. How crucial it is to know your rights! That your work space should be safe for your health whether it be an office, working outside, or with machinery. Please check out OSHA's websites if you have any concerns or want to just know what regulations are out there.I'm here for you if you have any questions or concerns!Would love to have a guest speaking on this more in the future too! Let me know what you "wonder" about!xoxo Victoriawondersofwomenpodcast@gmail.com@thewondersofwomen on Instagram

Thank you for tuning in! I'm thankful to have guest Dr. Efrat LaMandre on my podcast to briefly discuss autoimmune diseases and how the root cause of how symptoms we  experience and physical ailments aren't all in our head. There are life style changes that can be made (paired with modern medicine) that can truly help you feel better. This is what she has dedicated her life to, she helps so many people at her practice in State Island and online. She has The Knew Method podcast, her website theknewmethod.com, and social pages @theknewmethod. Her book "It's NOT in Your Head: Your Body Doesn't Feel Right But You Don't Know Why," is available on Amazon and kindle as well. We discussed in this episode a few autoimmune diseases such as Hashimoto's (hypothyroidism),  PCOS, etc. and how they have direct correlations to how we live our lives and what we are eating. I really enjoyed the discussion we had and this is great knowledge for anyone to know; even if you are in yours 20s and 30s to put in perspective health and life style choices. She's got so much knowledge as a Nurse Practitioner and with her PhD in Integrative Medicine, we could have covered so much more but this was a pleasure to have her on sharing her expertise and putting Integrative Medicine on our radar! If a consultation is desired you can check out her website to see if this could be beneficial for you. Thanks again for joining me! Please reach out if you have any questions or topic suggestions! With love, Victoria

Hello again and Happy New Year! It's been so long! Thank you for joining me!It's good to be back and the goal is to focus more on the podcast this year! Wanted to wish everyone a wonderful 2023! Cheers to new memories and experiences! We spent most the holiday season in Europe (France, Denmark, and Norway) and Utah to visit family. It was incredible to be back in Europe. I realized during my podcast this was my 4th time back in Paris/Europe and I'm so thankful we could go and for all the memories I've had. I wanted to share my tips, mistakes I've made going to Europe, and the experiences we have had. I could have said so much more. I tried to keep the episode short but with giving tips and sharing events/experiences, it definitely ended up being a good length of an episode! I'm not perfect, I have so much more I could have said. I spin off on some other random thoughts and experiences. But overall I gave the best summary I could. Shared as much information/tips. If you have any questions though reach out for sure! I'm always happy to help with travel questions! If you have any suggestions too, I love learning from others and hope to go back to Paris, Copenhagen, and Oslo again so I hope to see even more! Thanks for listening! XO Victoria wondersofwomenpodcast@gmail.com@thewondersofwomen

Hello and welcome back! It's been too long and let me say y'all I wanted to keep this short and sweet. But I merged two topics. Pros and Cons of social media and my story of how I got started and what I'm doing digital creating. I also shared an update with what's going on in life. I'm feeling more comfortable on the mic but also hope to get even better. We covered a lot!The negatives (comparison, mindlessness, effects on mental health, bullying, etc)The positives (making money on social media, networking, friendships, journaling, learning/entertainment) I shared ways people build a following, ways people make money, and some general guidance and tips. Forgot that "giveaways" are a big way to grow too sometimes. But hey if you'd like more in depth info we can definitely have a guest on sharing even more details on how they make a full time income on social media. Please let me know your thoughts and if you have any questions, comments, etc. I love to hear from you.  I could have expanded on a lot more, felt I overshared in some areas and undershared in others but I am being as real as I can be. Hello and welcome back! On this episode I wanted to have a discussion and really provide a safe space to talk about miscarriage and having newborns go into the NICU as soon as they are born. These were major trials for Katelin (today's guest) and also are for many women out there. Various websites share that statistics say 1 in 5 or 1 in 4 women will experience miscarriage. It should be talked about and we should support one another best we can. Also, for mother's who have their babies in the NICU, often they have no clue what to expect. I wanted my dear friend Katelin Walker to honestly and openly share her experiences. We hope we answered questions around these experiences and discussed them well, but as always please email or message me if you have any more questions or topics requested. If you are going through these experiences alone, please know that you aren't alone. Katelin has offered to be contacted if you'd like someone to talk to. God has definitely kept us connected closely as we both grew up in Utah and ended up here in Houston! I wanted to discuss the importance of community and love. This main focus in my life has allowed me to forgive myself for my past mistakes, forgive others, be happy for others, to not envy, to have more compassion for society, and more love and happiness in my life. Which I then share with others and I believe we all do when we lead with love and light. For those wondering how can I not envy? How can I be happier for others? How can I avoid the negative effects of social media? How can I utilize social media better? How can I have more love for others and grace for myself? How can I put collaboration first over competition? How can I be okay with failing and believing it could lead me to a better future or gain? And perhaps other questions along with these I hope I discussed and answered them (some more than others). This has been on my mind lately, I personally have felt a lot of division in society and negativity, so I was hoping to share positive messages. I am always open to feedback and questions though.  I appreciate feedback and  you joining me on this episode and in this podcasting journey. I wanted to share some of my spiritual journey in a loving open way. I'd love to have others share theirs as well in the future. I think it's so good we talk about spirituality and religion. With no intention of converting one another but to better understand each other. And just have more love in the world.Spirituality is so important to me. It is one of the 6 dimensions of wellness and can bring us a lot of purpose. I talk about it in general a little and share some of my experiences learning of other religions. I have an appreciation for all religions and religious freedom. I am a Christian and I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I wanted to share a profound moment as I start my episode and hoped this tied in well. Life and this world isn't perfect. There is a lot of hardship right now but also I believe there is a lot to be grateful for with some aspects of our society, access we have to information, and for grocery stores and access to goods.I tie this in to starting in your nutrition journey, where we have the access to information, who to speak with, and so many options to shop from grocery stores and out. But I wanted to share how you could start your journey with personal nutrition. With knowing where you are at, setting goals, your vision, your why,  and how every body deserves self love and care to be in the best health you can be. I do share weight loss tips and muscle mass gain. Some taboos as well.We don't aim for perfection but just strive to overall do the best we can with our wellness journey. I hope to share lots more in the nutrition and wellness realm. As well as have guests on here discussing various topics in this. This was a compilation and mix of topics in many areas. Please let me know if you have any feedback or questions. I break the ice a few times since I'm human. LOL.  Nutrition is a topic I am passionate about though and continually researching. Perhaps I will start sharing a tip each episode!Let me know how I can better help you in any way on this. I know many people struggle with nutrition and body image. You are loved and you are not alone in this journey. Hope this episode shares at least something new or helps in some way! Love, V

Tori welcomes you back and shares life experiences and what she wishes she would of known as her younger self and is aware of now:We all change, we all fail, and it all guides into the direction we need to be.We also meet the right people we need to meet. You don't have it figured out ever if you are just open to opportunities and just being social and open to people you meet along the way.No one has it all put together regardless of social media or how they seem on the outside. We are all just doing our best and in the direction we need to be.Expressing gratitude for where we are is key to me!----------I share some personal personal experience and background. How I would have never thought I'd end up in Houston or with the Bachelor's Degrees I have. How I would have joined a sorority and met two friends (Teddy and Lexi) that introduced me to Public Health (one of my degrees). Or birthing JJ with the midwives I went to last minute. It just all was from being open to being guided where she needed to be and trusting God. I share more details in the podcast. And is truly so thankful for you to tune in! Also, she'd love to hear stories on how opportunities have lined up for you whether it's being at the right place at the right time, or even how failures often are blessings as greater things often can line up instead in the journey of life!
