In this episode of Fusion Patrol, Ben and Eugene delve into the 1961 Irwin Allen film “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea,” starring Walter Pidgeon and Joan Fontaine. The discussion centers on the USOS Seaview and Admiral Nelson’s desperate mission to extinguish a catastrophic burning of the Van Allen Belt, which threatens all life on Earth. They explore the film’s key themes, including the clash between reason and fanaticism, as well as character dynamics, particularly between Nelson and his crew. We also reflect on our personal experiences with the film, critique its scientific elements, and analyze the portrayal of authority during the Cold War. It does, however, feature the worst character in the history of the series MEAN UNCLE GUY! I understand it only gets worse from here but join us aboard this very sketchy (air quotes) Cruise Ship (end air quotes) and let's visit one the franchises biggest flops! Anna Kepner Cruise Ship Homicide: Father Won't Deny Rape Charges Against Teen Stepbrother

Three months after Anna Kepner was found dead aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise ship — her body hidden under a bed, death ruled a homicide by mechanical asphyxiation — her sixteen-year-old stepbrother appeared in federal court in Miami facing multiple charges. According to the Daily Mail, the teenager was accompanied by his biological father Thomas Hudson for a closed-door hearing on at least two federal counts. The most striking revelation came from Anna's own father Christopher Kepner, who told the Daily Mail he was "unable to confirm or deny" that charges include both murder and rape — directly contradicting November preliminary findings that indicated no sexual assault. The FBI maintained complete silence for ninety days after the cruise ship death. Virtually everything the public knows came from a custody dispute between the suspect's parents — court filings that revealed text messages focused on damage control, the suspect's repeated claims that he couldn't remember anything, and behavioral history including obsession allegations and testimony about chokeholds in the household. Surveillance and key card data reportedly place the stepbrother as the only person entering and exiting the cabin. Anna's grandmother announced the surrender on Facebook and accused the suspect's father of interfering with the investigation. The hearing was sealed, but prosecutors reportedly plan to seek transfer to adult court — which would unseal the records and reveal the full scope of the federal case.#AnnaKepner #CarnivalHorizon #CruiseShipHomicide #FederalCharges #TrueCrime #TrueCrimeToday #CarnivalCruise #JusticeForAnna #FBIInvestigation #TrueCrimePodcastJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? When Anna Kepner's sixteen-year-old stepbrother walked into a federal courthouse in Miami facing multiple charges stemming from her death aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise ship, the most telling detail came from Anna's own father. Christopher Kepner told the Daily Mail he was "unable to confirm or deny" that his stepson faces murder and rape charges. That carefully worded non-denial contradicts preliminary findings from ABC News in November indicating no signs of sexual assault — and raises the question of what the FBI uncovered during ninety days of total silence.Anna's death was ruled a homicide by mechanical asphyxiation — a bar hold across the neck that left two bruises on her throat. Her body was found hidden under a bed in the cruise ship cabin, wrapped in a blanket, covered with life vests, her fourteen-year-old brother sleeping feet away. Surveillance and key card data reportedly show the stepbrother was the only person to enter and exit the cabin during the critical window. Everything the public learned about this case came from a custody battle — text messages showing damage control, memory loss claims, obsession allegations, and testimony about chokeholds in the home. Anna's grandmother publicly accused the suspect's father of interfering with the investigation. The hearing was sealed, but prosecutors reportedly intend to seek transfer to adult court.#AnnaKepner #CarnivalHorizon #CruiseShipDeath #TrueCrime #HiddenKillers #ChristopherKepner #JusticeForAnna #CarnivalCruise #FBIInvestigation #TrueCrimePodcastJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? November 7th, 2025, 18-year-old Anna Marie Kepner was found dead under a bed aboard the Carnival Horizon naked and covered in life jackets. But while investigators tried to figure out what happened in that cabin, the deeper question was already forming: How did every adult in her world fail her long before that cruise left Miami? Because while Anna was trying to grow up, the adults around her lived by their own motto:Conflict Rules Everything Around Me — C.R.E.A.M., get the tension. Toxic bad blood, ya'll.  And once you understand the years of instability swirling around Anna: the custody fights, the restraining orders, the rotating step-parents, the teenage babysitter who became her stepmom, the new stepbrother later named as a suspect... you start to see how the stage was set for a tragedy that should never have happened. Send us a textHello, passionate cruisers! This is Paul and this week on The Joy of Cruising Podcast, I am delighted to welcome Alan Shapiro to The Joy of Cruising Podcast, to talk about what it was like 20+ Years Working and Living on Over 15 Cruise Ships. Alan shared with me: “I worked on 7 different cruise lines and probably at least 15 ships. Some of my more exciting cruises included going to Antarctica, cruising down the Amazon River, going on a Nude Cruise to Alaska. I even was on a ship that hit an iceberg in Alaska. I worked on cruise ships as small as 500 passengers, and the largest 4000 passengers. I worked for Holland America Line for five years as an onboard Cruise Consultant, and three of those years, I also had my girlfriend/fiancée/wife on board. For a very short time I was with the Royal Olympic Voyager in 2003, which was starting a world cruise, and immediately after sailing from Fort Lauderdale, the line declared bankruptcy. This led to us being held in limbo in St. Thomas for more than a month. I was the Art Auctioneer, and had 300 paintings onboard, some pretty valuable, being held hostage. After about 4-5 weeks, we were moved to Ft. Lauderdale. And there is an intriguing story about what happened to me, the paintings, the passengers, and the crew, who were held in limbo for several months off Ft. Lauderdale Beach.  I started working on ships around 1989, when cruising was quite different than it was when I retired, and certainly much different than the way it is now. I did work on some contemporary, large ships, such as the Carnival Glory and Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas. But I preferred working and sailing on the smaller ships like the Costa Riviera, or The Marco Polo. I also spent six months sailing transatlantic on the old Queen Elizabeth 2—the QE2— before it was taken out of service. Quite a different sailing experience from the other cruise lines.” Do you have a dream car?Support the showSupport thejoyofcruisingpodcast https://www.buzzsprout.com/2113608/supporters/newSupport Me https://www.buymeacoffee.com/drpaulthContact Me https://www.thejoyofcruising.net/contact-me.htmlBook Cruises http://www.thejoyofvacation.com/US Orders (coupon code joyofcruisingpodcast)The Joy of Cruising https://bit.ly/TheJoyOfCruisingCruising Interrupted https://bit.ly/CruisingInterruptedThe Joy of Cruising Again https://bit.ly/TheJoyOfCruisingAgainIntl Orders via Amazon

A crew member vanishes without a trace on a cruise where magic should meet the sea, and the official explanation raised more questions than answers. A video of her last distressed phone call was her last known moment alive, and a family still demands truth from the deep. When 24-year-old Rebecca Coriam, a young British cruise employee working aboard the Disney Wonder, disappeared from the vessel in March 2011 off the coast of Mexico, her absence ignited one of the most baffling unsolved maritime mysteries in LGBTQ+ true crime history. CCTV captured her distressed on a crew phone early one morning, then nothing—no body, no confirmed sighting, and no clarity about what happened next. As her parents pressed for answers, questions swirled about botched procedures, jurisdictional loopholes, and whether the cruise line's priority was reputation over justice, leaving a haunting gap in queer history where a vibrant life should still be. Anna Kepner was 18 years old when she was found dead under a bed on the Carnival Horizon cruise ship, wrapped in a blanket and covered with life vests. Her death has been ruled a homicide by mechanical asphyxiation. Both of her stepbrother's parents have identified him in court documents as the FBI's sole suspect. And yet, five weeks later, no arrest has been made. In this breakdown, we cover everything that's emerged from the Brevard County custody hearings, the disturbing testimony about chokehold use in the family home, and the ex-boyfriend who says he tried to warn Anna's parents months before she died.  We also examine why the FBI is still weighing whether to charge a 16-year-old federally or hand the case to Florida state prosecutors, and what that decision means for the Kepner family still waiting for justice. This is a case where the warning signs were allegedly there, the suspect has been identified, and the system is still grinding slowly while a killer remains free. #AnnaKepner #CarnivalCruise #CruiseShipDeath #TrueCrime #FBI #HomicideInvestigation #CarnivalHorizon #Justice #TrueCrimeNews #BreakingNews Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Eighteen-year-old Anna Kepner died aboard a cruise ship. Her sixteen-year-old stepbrother has been identified as the suspect — not by police, not by the FBI, but through explosive court filings in a custody battle. The family acknowledges it. Witnesses describe aggression, chokeholds, and a dynamic the adults claim they never saw. And still: no charges. So what does this silence actually signal? Former prosecutor Eric Faddis explains why federal investigations move slowly, why cruise-ship deaths fall under complex jurisdictional rules, and what benchmarks investigators need before they pursue homicide charges involving a minor. We examine the digital trail (key-card logs, surveillance, onboard data), the fracture within the family, and how contradicting statements influence a prosecutor's strategy. Eric also walks through what a defense attorney would be doing right now behind the scenes — protecting a juvenile client, anticipating transfer hearings, and preparing for the moment charges finally drop. We discuss why custody documents are revealing more than the FBI, why investigators might be intentionally delaying charges, and what it means when a case hinges on both forensic evidence and family testimony. This case is quiet — too quiet — and Eric breaks down exactly what silence means in federal law. #AnnaKepner #CruiseShipCase #EricFaddis #HiddenKillers #TrueCrimePodcast #TonyBrueski #FederalInvestigation #LegalAnalysis #JusticeForAnna #TrueCrimeCommunity Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The death of 18-year-old Anna Kepner aboard a cruise ship has left behind a trail of conflicting stories — and at the center of it is a blended family dynamic that now looks very different depending on who's doing the talking. Parents and grandparents describe harmony, closeness, and three teenagers who were “the three amigos.” Yet teens who actually lived inside that home describe something else entirely: aggression, chokeholds, tension, and behavior reframed by adults as “just playing.” On today's episode of Hidden Killers, psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins us to break down what these contradictions reveal about denial, family image-management, and the difference between outside perception and lived experience. Shavaun explains why teens often have a more accurate read on the emotional temperature of a home than parents do — especially in blended families where adults may be overly invested in a narrative of unity. She walks us through the psychology of minimizing aggression, why “roughhousing” becomes the excuse of choice, and the gender dynamics that shape which behaviors get dismissed and which get flagged. We also look at why an outsider — in this case, Anna's ex-boyfriend — might actually provide a more reliable account than adults with emotional or reputational skin in the game. And how cabin assignments made by a travel agent, not the kids themselves, may speak volumes about parental blind spots. This segment is a deep dive into credibility, emotional truth, and the patterns families cling to long after red flags have been waving in plain sight. #AnnaKepner #HiddenKillers #ShavaunScott #TrueCrimePodcast #FamilyDynamics #BlendedFamilies #CruiseShipCase #TonyBrueski #PsychologicalInsight #TeenPerspective Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Eighteen-year-old Anna Kepner was found dead aboard the Carnival Horizon — hidden under a bed, wrapped in a blanket, and partially covered with life vests. But the most shocking part of this case isn't what was found in that cabin. It's everything happening outside of it. Tonight on Hidden Killers, we dig into the emotional, chaotic, and deeply fractured family dynamics that defined Anna's life long before that cruise. What's emerging now is a portrait of a young woman caught between two households locked in years of conflict, resentment, secrecy, and trauma — a reality her friends and family say she never escaped. Anna's biological mother, Heather, released a raw and unfiltered TikTok video describing her struggles with addiction, depression, and the painful distance between her and her daughter. Her grandmother and uncle publicly accuse members of the paternal home of withholding the truth. Her ex-boyfriend claims Anna feared a stepsibling — the same 16-year-old who is now being referenced by major outlets as a suspect. The stepmother has invoked her Fifth Amendment rights. Custody filings are unraveling. The family is fracturing in real time. And Anna's father — the central figure across three marriages — remains virtually silent. This is not a simple tragedy. It's not a single incident. It's a collision of long-standing fractures, hidden tensions, competing narratives, and relatives taking their stories public as investigators try to cut through the noise. Every person close to Anna seems to be telling a different version of who she was, what she feared, and what really happened on that ship. Tonight, we step back and examine the full picture — the emotional landscape, the allegations, the clashing accounts, and the patterns investigators are now forced to untangle if they hope to understand the final hours of a teenage girl who never should have ended up hidden under a bed at sea. This is the story behind the story. This is the case everyone is talking about — and the one no one can agree on. #HiddenKillers #AnnaKepner #CarnivalCruise #TrueCrime #TonyBrueski #Investigation #FamilyDynamics #FBI #CruiseShipDeath #MaritimeCrime #Stepfamily Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video?
