In part two of our conversation with Will Heath we get real practical about making change and transition in your church or organization. You will want to take notes! Will talks about 5 signposts to use when you facilitate change they are: 1. Pisgah 2. Teams 3. Search 4. Transition 5. Ceremony Will explains each of these signposts in depth. "Account for these," Will says, "and things will go well. Don't account for even one of them and things will go bad." In the course of the discussion we talk about ending ministries and the fact that no matter what there will be pain, but the process is ultimately the point. The guys are back and discussing Christmas, their trip to Mexico, and the issue of complexity.
The guys are back for one more go around this year. We start off talking about the ridiculousness in Christianity sometimes. Jeff reads some comments a writer made a Christian TV Show about President-Elect Trump being the new John the Baptist. We also talk family and Christmas traditions and our favorite Christmas food. We close off the show talking the passing of Jeff's Grandmother and legacy she has left behind.
This week we talk a little about the election results and a lot about sharing your faith without being a jerk.
At the risk of losing our jobs (HA!), we finally get political. We discuss the disturbing trend of nationalism in American Christianity and Christians who put their hope in political parties and not God. We also talk about how the stand offish and combative posture of American Christians when it comes to politics is hurting our ability to be lights to the world. This week Jeff and Dave talk about Perry Noble. Noble is a minister in South Carolina that started NewSpring Church and was recently let go for alcohol abuse. Perry has been extremely open about his failings and his healing process. This week he released a blog that outlined the specific mistakes he made that led to the loss of his job and what he is doing to correct the course his life is on. The guys talk about how they can relate to everything Noble is struggling with and how they have struggled with many of the same things.
