There's a really good chance there's something about your life you *want* to change but you're not sure *how* to change it. This week, Paula's favorite person - her husband, John - joins her for this game changing conversation with one of HIS favorite people - NYT bestselling author, Life.Church senior pastor and sought-after leadership expert, Craig Groschel. Craig breaks down the journey he went on that took him from lazy to leader and why he says you don't have to be born with discipline to become disciplined. Craig offers up practical principles from his upcoming book, “The Power to Change: Mastering the Habits That Matter Most”, to help both you and those you lead or love to aspire to change. And don't miss his three questions to ask yourself when facing any situation and why rhythms, not balance, hold the key to living the life you want. We are doing a series on the Top 8 Marriage Issues in 2019. These 8 issues are the top 8 issues that Dr. Kim has seen this year with marriages. We will be breaking them down starting with #8 and working our way towards the #1 marriage issue. In this episode Dr. Kim and Christina talk about the 5th biggest issue in marriages this year which is: traumatic situations. Because we live in a broken and fallen world, so many couples end up facing traumatic situations. Death of a child, abuse, suicide of someone close to you, assault, a life-changing diagnosis, war, natural disaster, the list goes on. Often times when faced with traumatic situations, naturally, couples struggle to cope and many end up losing their marriage over it. But does a life changing event have to mean the end of your marriage? Dr. Kim has walked alongside countless couples through life-changing events. A traumatic situation does not have to mean the end of your marriage. In this episode Dr. Kim and Christina share about how to cope with life-altering and traumatic situations in a way that builds up your marriage instead of tearing it down. NOTEWORTHY QUOTES “A traumatic situation is anytime life goes differently than we thought it would.” - Dr. Kim “Your grief might look different from your spouse’s grief and that’s ok.” - Dr. Kim “Nobody can’t define what grief looks like for you.” - Dr. Kim “Allow your spouse to express whatever emotions they feel when they’re grieving.” - Dr. Kim “Put God in the middle of your grief.” - Dr. Kim “Be present with your spouse when they’re grieving, don’t put pressure on yourself to say the right thing, your presence alone will help them.” - Dr. Kim “Be honest when you’re communicating with your spouse about your grief.” - Christina “Blaming is not going to heal anything.” - Dr. Kim “After a life-altering event you have to find a new normal.” - Christina SPONSORS Thank you to Honoring Intimates for sponsoring this podcast episode! The total nerd in me, that I now 100% embrace, is coming out in today’s episode. If you haven’t recognized yet, I LOVE attending seminars and conferences. I love that feeling of being immersed in a world of other growth minded people. One of my favorites that I work hard to attend every year is called Global Leadership Summit. The mission of the Global Leadership Summit is a community that is committed to learning from each other and using our influence to accomplish God’s purpose on earth. Now while it’s hosted at a church, the focus of these two days is very much leadership and growth focused. The first year there was my first-time hearing about Craig Groschel. From the moment I first heard him talk I was in absolute AWE. A little more about him, he has the Craig Groschel Leadership podcast, and he is the founder of Life Church, and creator of the YouVersion Bible App. He’s also a husband and father so his speaking really resonated with me. This past year when I attended his opening talk was called Bend the Curve, and one of the topics he shared with us was this idea called GETMO. G-E-T-M-O. And when I first heard it, I was like get more? Nope, it stands for “good enough to move on”. GETMO. Get it? SUBSCRIBE TO THE PODCAST I am grateful you were here for today’s episode! On today's episode of Morning Moxie, Craig Groschel joins us again talking about how every small decision forms who we are today. Every little decision is important...even if we don't feel like it is at the moment. craiggroeschel.com watch the entire message here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvwCaaaN104&t=1754s
Just because the Bible records something doesn't mean it condones it. Slide: Hospitality is one of the outward evidences of the inward work of the Gospel. Slide: A reminder: God's design for sex is intimate, precious, and holy. Slide: Moralistic Therapeutic Deism (“Soul Searching: The Religious Lives of American Teenagers” 2005) A god exists who created and ordered the world and watches over human life on earth. God wants people to be good, nice, and fair to each other, as taught in the Bible and by most world religions. The central goal of life is to be happy and to feel good about oneself. God does not need to be particularly involved in one's life except when God is needed to resolve a problem. Good people go to heaven when they die. Slide: In other words…religion exists to build me up and make my life better Slide: Christian atheism (Craig Groschel, 2010): “believing in God but living as though He does not exist” Slide: We may believe in God. We may desire to be blessed by Him. But do we truly want Him? Do we truly know Him? Slide: Titus 1:16 They profess to know God, but by [their] deeds they deny [Him,] being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed. Slide: Matt. 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven [will enter.] 22 "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' 23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.' Activity: How Well Do I Know God? _ I struggle to believe that God loves me. _ I feel disconnected from God. _ I pray when I need help, but I don't routinely spend time with God. _ I feel trapped in a cycle of shame about my past. _ I don't feel much need or desire to read the Bible. _ I believe in God, but I can't say I prioritize my life around Him. _ My belief in God doesn't seem to keep me from worrying almost all of the time. _ I don't experience worship or express praise to God in my daily life. _ I find it almost impossible to forgive people who have hurt me. _ My sense of security is impacted more by how I am doing financially than by how I am doing spiritually. _ I'm not sure my heart breaks for the things that break the heart of God. _ I tend to diminish or overlook my sins and failures rather than grieving them. _ I don't often experience a passionate desire to please God. _ It feels like a long time since I've heard God's voice or experienced God's leading in my life. _ I often feel God is not fair. _ It's rare for me to feel completely surrendered to God. Most of the time, I'm not even sure I want to be. _ I make most of my own decisions without submitting them to God's Word. Here's the encouragement: Slide: If we seek Him, we will find Him! [Jer 29:13 NASB] 13 'You will seek Me and find [Me] when you search for Me with all your heart. [Pro 8:17 NASB] 17 "I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me. [Act 17:26-27 NASB] 26 and He made from one [man] every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined [their] appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, 27 that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; [Jas 4:8 NASB] 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. [Heb 11:6 NASB] 6 And without faith it is impossible to please [Him,] for he who comes to God must believe that He is and [that] He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. [Rom 10:13 NASB] 13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."
For the last month, my team and I have been tracking six churches and pastors that are absolutely crushing it on social media. Why did we do this? Simply stated, we wanted to learn from the best. And so for 21 days we recorded every single thing these churches published on social media. I then worked my way through the 1,000+ social posts we documented looking for trends and patterns. What is it that makes these churches so excellent on social? So in this podcast, I’ll answer that question - and, reveal a new principle I discovered through this case study that I’m calling The “1-In-5” Rule. ***VISIT THE FULL POST HERE: https://prochurchtools.com/the-1-in-5-rule-for-churches-on-social-media-new-case-study/ What's In This Session? If you have listened to many leadership podcasts, it is safe to say you have heard about Carey Nieuwhof. He is one of the most listened to voices in church leadership today. From his books, courses, and even preaching at the church he founded in Canada, it is clear to see that Carey is a leader and a practitioner. Jenni had a very insightful time with Carey and we had to share it with you. Enjoy!

Recognize we (churches) desperately need each other "Unity is NOT uniformity" 2. We err on the side of for and not against 3. We're going to give everything we can to stregthen others "We will lead the way with irrational genorsity" 4. We're going to love like Jesus loved
Normal people are stressed, overwhelmed, and exhausted. Many of their relationships are, at best, strained and, in most cases, just surviving. Even though we live in one of the most prosperous places on eath, normal is still just living paycheck to paycheck and never getting ahead. In our oversexed world, lust, premarital sex, guilt, and shame are far more common than purity, virginity, and healthy married sex life. And when it comes to God, the majority believe in him, but the teachings of Scripture raely maike it into their everyday lives. Simply put, normal isn't working. Craig Groeschel shares his Christ-center philosphey on everything from money to scheduling, to purity, that will help you break out of normal.
