Foundations of Wellness: Supporting Optimal Health

How are you defining wellness and optimal health? What are your practices and how are you going to incorporate those to support your foundation so you can live an optimal, healthy, vibrant and empowered life? For most of us this is not a one time activity. I use the word practices intentionally because in many cases it means supporting or enhancing what we're already doing. And it may mean learning new practices that support our foundation that allow us to live our optimal lives. For those that have a chronic illness, such as myself, are you wondering if we can still benefit from supporting foundations and wellness? My answer is YES! Allowing use to merge this traditional wisdom of medicine and then paring it with the current evidence based approaches that scientists are confirming - allows us to enhance our own lives. I come to this perspective from a nutrition, nourishment point of view. And today on the show, we will look at other practices that could benefit us as well. Thanks for listening! I'd love to continue this conversation over on Facebook. For some of us winter is a beautiful time to be quiet and enjoy the cold outdoors, or the beginning of a new calendar year. For others, they consider themselves to be like bears. Wanting to hibernate through the winter and wake them in the spring. If we take our cue from nature and we look at trees in cold climates, the trees don't have any leaves. It looks like there is not a lot going on, but in actuality, it's the roots that are taking in the nutrients and preparing the tree for the upcoming spring. Looking at the wisdom of winter, it's really about nourishing the roots. How do we stay grounded? Thanks for listening! I'd love to continue this conversation over on Facebook. It's pretty common at the end of a calendar year, as we go into a new year, to take a look at what goals we had for the previous year and what we've accomplished. Then we sit down a the new calendar year and we write down the goals that we feel like we want to accomplish in this next new bright year. Sometimes I hear from friends that when setting new goals, their goals stay the same from year to year. They just erase the year at the top. I often wonder, if that is true... is that really a goal that you'd like to have? Today I'm going to talk about the different between goals (future accomplishments) and intentions (present intentions to move you forward). Thanks for listening!
