They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20At once they left their nets and followed him.21Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.Matthew 8:18-22 - NIV18When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake. 19Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”20Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”21Another disciple said to him, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”22But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”--Join us for service live every Sunday at 10am at 2244 95th St, Naperville, IL 60564Connect with us at our website www.revivechicago.church

Midweek TeachingTopic: The Pied Piper Syndrome… It Continues…October 13, 2021Matthew 7:16-2016 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.Note that I am speaking of a syndrome. What is a syndrome?Syndrome: A group of symptoms which consistently occur together, or a condition characterized by a set of associated symptoms. (Oxford online dictionary)Blessings abound.Rev. Following Jesus with Our Whole SelvesForgiveness: Absorbing the PainFebruary 14th, 2021Matthew 18:21-35, Luke 23:32-34, Ephesians 4:30-5:2IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR A CHRISTIAN TO BE SPIRITUALLY MATURE WHILE REMAINING EMOTIONALLY IMMATURE.Peter Scazzero Matthew 18:21-3521 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. 23 “Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand bags of gold[h] was brought to him. 25 Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt. 26 “At this the servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Be patient with me,' he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.' 27 The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go. 28 “But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins.[i] He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded. 29 “His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.' 30 “But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. 31 When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and went and told their master everything that had happened. 32 “Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,' he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to.33 Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' 34 In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. 35 “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”Luke 23:32-3432 Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. 33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”[c] And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.Ephesians 4:30-5:230 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. 1 Follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.The personal act to release the one who sinned against me from my personal right to collect on the moral debt (to pay them back) for their offense, giving it over to God for His justice and mercy.Instead of giving them back the pain they gave me, I absorb the pain into myself with God's help.“Any pain or tension we do not transform we will transmit. In the face of jealousy, anger, bitterness, and hatred we are to be like water purifiers; holding the toxins inside of us and giving back only the pure water.”Ronald Rolheiser – Sacred Fire“As we age, we can begin to trim down our spiritual vocabulary and eventually we can get it down to just three words: forgive, forgive, forgive. The major task psychologically and spiritually for the second half of our lives is to forgive. We need to forgive those who have hurt us, forgive ourselves for our own failings, forgive life for not being fully fair, and forgive God for seemingly being so indifferent to our wounds. We need to do that before we die because ultimately there is only one moral imperative, not to die an angry bitter person but to die with a warm heart.”Ronald Rolheiser – Sacred Fire
ZChurch service for January 30, 2021Matthew 8:8 The centurion answered and said, "Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. Be a word talker – the word of God. Speak the word only. When we're in a crisis, the first thing that comes out of our mouth determines the direction we're going to go. The tongue is the rudder (James 3:4). Don't send yourself in the wrong direction.Instead of saying what politicians, the news media, and the world around us is saying, why don't we say what God says. When we say what men say instead of what God says, we're elevating their opinions above God's word.Psalm 8:3-63 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, 4 What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? 5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, Genesis 2:19 Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. In naming the animals, Adam gave them their position and assignment. We should be careful what position and honor we give things.Genesis 6:5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Our words still work and release assignment like Adam's words did. The question is whether our words are working for us or against us.Romans 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.The creation itself is waiting for the sons of God to take their place of dominion and give the creation its assignment. Romans 8:21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.Word from the Lord through Pastor Larry“Get ready, get ready, get ready, good things are on the way. Get ready, get ready, get ready, God listens to what you say. Get ready, get ready, get ready, and speak the word of God. Get ready, get ready, get ready, and you're gonna see things change because words have power and words will shape your life. Get ready, get ready, get ready, God is going to remove you from pain and strife. Get ready for the good life. Get ready for things to change. Get ready because it's gonna happen, it's on the way.”
