August 17, 2025 [Speaker: Pastor Roy McKain] – Continuing through the summer, we will explore the book of James. James, Jesus' half-brother and pillar of the early church, writes less theologically but more practically. Throughout this series, we will discover some practical steps we can call take to live out our commitment to Jesus. Join us as we take these next steps to honor God with our daily lives. “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds?.” (James 1:2 NLT). “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds.” (James 1:2 NIV). The Bluebirds are PURE JOY for me.
Over the coming weeks, we'll be diving into the book of James, a short but powerful letter written by Jesus' half-brother. Known for his wisdom and courage, James challenges us to live out our faith with practical, wholehearted devotion. This week Nic focuses on James 1:2 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." He considers what does a gritty, real faith look like, and how can we not just endure but rather grow through struggles and difficulties. Follow along each week of the GRIT series:

In this final episode on our Driving with Jev JOY series we are closing it out strong with some stories and powerful nuggets of truth about... you guessed it... joy. I remember running into people and asking them “how did you get through this” and they said “it's joy. The joy of the Lord is my strength”. These people just decided that their circumstance wouldn't define them and it wouldn't rob them of the joy God had for them in that moment. Brain scans even reveal that when others smile we literally feel a ripple of joy from others. This is such a powerful weapon to get through hard times. When we say joy comes in the morning it isn't a cute melody or saying… it's the truth. Let's choose joy together in our journey's of waiting.

Send me a Text Message! If I told you there was a way to experience pure joy, 100% pure joy, would you believe me? Would you ask me to show you the way? In 35 years of ministry, one of the most significant convictions, I've gained is that we have a deep, deep need forpure joy. The corollary conviction I've developed is that there is very little relationship between the circumstances of our lives and the joy of our souls. Avoiding suffering at all costs does not bring pure joy. Getting everything I want, when I want it does not create great overflowing resevoirs of joy. Comfort and control are not the source of glorious joy.So how do we find pure joy? That's what this episode starts discussing.

Music possesses an almost magical ability to transform our emotional state, and nowhere is this more evident than with songs deliberately crafted to elicit joy. On this episode of Super Awesome Mix, we're returning to a favorite theme with Pure Joy Mix Volume 2, featuring twelve tracks scientifically engineered to boost your mood and put an irresistible smile on your face. We've structured this mix as a friendly competition between hosts, with Matt's selections comprising Side A and Samer's picks making up Side B. From the moment you press play, you'll feel the rush of dopamine that comes from Wham!'s iconic "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" and its instantly recognizable "jitterbug" intro. The journey continues through nostalgic hits like Blue Swede's "Hooked on a Feeling" and modern gems including Wet Leg's subversively joyful "Chaise Longue."Throughout our musical exploration, we unpack what makes certain songs universally uplifting – whether it's the infectious energy of Stevie Wonder's horns, the whistle-heavy hooks of Peter Bjorn and John that physically encourage smiling, or the self-affirming lyrics from Fitz and the Tantrums that remind us to "shine like the sun." We discover that joy comes in many forms: nostalgia, humor, empowerment, and the celebration of life's simple pleasures. This episode doesn't just offer a mood-lifting playlist. It provides insights into how different musical elements – from surprising intros that capture attention to lyrics that promote present-moment appreciation – work together to create an emotional response that's greater than the sum of its parts. The "Son of God," which is Who we are as God created us, beyond all gender and personality of the ego, is free of all death. This lesson describes to a "T" the "unconcious death urge" and what its composition does to us. We have been mistaken about Life and death. We have thought "death is inevitable." The belief in death is a function of consciousness, and we can ascend to a new Consciousness. The reality is Life is Immortal and inevitable. Death is a decision we make in error. This Lesson #163, "There is no death. The Son of God is free," is the ultimate liberation from the ego's belief system. Death is the main "idol" constructed in the imagioned "separation" from our Source. As Teachers of God, we are the Messengers of Life, not death, of immortality, not of the "inevitable end" of our self. There is no death. There is only Life and we are Life itself. God blesses us with Immortal Being as the Christ, God's Child, who is free to be immortal, like God Himself. The Divine Mother joins our body with this Thought of Truth, the Immortality of Life. In Spirit, we live forever, and this Spirit can be infused even into our bodies which can then be the Communicator of this PURE JOY! Used to communicate only Divine Joy, we can keep them for this purpose as long as we choose. AMEN

TO THE ADVANCED TEACHER OF GOD, this question is superfluous. God will send the "ordained work of the day." And in this Divine Providence no plan is necessary. There are some guidelines in the beginning—doing the Lessons in the Workbook is essential. Also, quiet time when you awaken for your day and just before going to sleep is important to give to God. Bracket your day with some quiet time given to God. A thought of Pure Joy is also essential. We are encompassing all that God sends to us to be in the flow of Joy in the moment. Even "disruptions" can be seen as part of this Joy. Waking up in this state of Joy is the real Gift of God given to His Teachers.

We DECIDE TO FORGET our Divine Connection, but it is still there in blazing certainty when we are willing to restore our awareness of who we really are. God's Peace and Joy are mine, but I had chosen to forget them when I made fear, guilt and anger real. If we are not happy, then something is off. We decided to forget Pure Joy. Now is the time for us to remember our Self-Identity. This is free of all attack, fear, guilt, and negative emotions. This is the Self of Perfect Happiness. Let me remember I am ONE WITH GOD. All attack is off, because all attack is "self attack." When we attack ourself, we have chosen to "forget" who we really are, God's Daughter and Son. When we choose to remember, we can forgive ourself and restore our Divine Connection to our every day awareness.

RHOBH Season 14, Episode 4. The season of Dorit continues. Real? Fake? Who cares? An activated Dorit is here to stay and we are living for it. Dorit and Kyle pick up right where they left off last week. Claims of double standards, demanded blind loyalty, friendship punishments and more, Dorit holds nothing back in telling Kyle, Garcelle, Sutton and anyone else who gets in her way exactly what she thinks about them. Kathy Hilton, Boz and Jennifer Tilly are the greek chorus and watch every move in awe of what they are witnessing. We get it. Teddi Mellencamp's name is mentioned for the second time this season which, as Garcelle said best, makes Teddi very, and we mean, very happy. In this episode, Gene McCabe, head men's lacrosse coach and assistant director of athletics for compliance, details how sports and childhood mentors launched his trajectory as an educator in athletics. He played both lacrosse and football at Bates College before a neck injury sidelined his football career but ultimately gave him his first taste to coaching at the collegiate level. As he heads into his 19th season as head coach, McCabe reflects on his most treasured memories with the lacrosse program, the challenges he witnesses student-athletes facing, the overall changing landscape of collegiate sports and the culture and values he works to cultivate on Wilson Field. We also discuss his efforts to marry sustainability with the athletic department, the pride he feels as a W&L alumna parent and the importance of holding onto those passions that feed the soul.
