Hello friends! We're the ladies of Stone Cold Country with the April edition of the #TexasSixPack. This time around there are seven songs from amazing Texas artists that you should add to your playlists, radio station, blogs and share across social media. The Texas Six Pack was a feature we created in late 2018 for our Stone Cold Country radio show. Due to the incredible popularity of the segment, in January 2023,we decided to roll it out as a stand alone podcast with new episodes on the 23rd of each month. Before we dig in, we like to share some noteworthy news from the longhorn state. Yes, great news about Gruene Hall. Firstly it is still going strong after 145 years in existence, good god. Yes, and It is Texas' oldest continually operating dance hall. Some friends in Texas are very particular. I made the mistake of calling it a honky tonk because the rest of us call any place that plays country music and serves alcohol a honky tonk, don't you know.Featured in this podcast: Wade Bowen, Aaron Copeland, Aaron McDonnell, Kendall Shaffer, Richie Bustillo, Matt Castillo, and Robert Ray.
Matt and Drew discuss "Life Sounds Easy on the Radio" by Aaron McDonell. To listen to the full show, visit ForgottenCountryRadioShow.com.
The Rave-Ups, How Old Am I?The Rave-Ups, Brigitte BardotBlue Rodeo, I Think About YouBlue Rodeo, CriticizeJason Scott & The High Heat, Suffering EyesJason Scott & The High Heat, A Little Good MusicSophie & The Broken Things, Churches & BarsDavid Gideon, Southwestern SkiesDavid Gideon, A Woman Like HerRay Wylie Hubbard w Steve Earle, Hellbent For LeatherErin Enderlin, I'd Do It DifferentSarah Shook & the Disarmers, It Doesn't Change AnythingAaron McDonnell, The DawnAaron McDonnell, Say Goodbye
Before The Next Teardrop Falls. February 1st may mark the beginning of Spring on the Celtic calendar and a rememberance of Ireland's mother, the Patroness of Erin, St. Brigid, but when you live in the Windy City, February can seem like the longest and bleakest month of the year. As the snow flies, cold weather lingers and "dibs" squabbles continue, there's plenty of singing, dancing and joy in the Windy City Irish Radio studios with lots of new music and celebrations. This week we celebrate a belated Feast of St. Brigid's Day with a new song from Eamon Flynn, we celebrate country music icon Garth Brooks on the eve of his 60th birthday, remember piano great, Libarace, with music from Tara O'Grady and a little diddy from ol' Władziu himself on the anniversary of his passing on February 4, 1987. As live music creeps back into society, we anxiously await upcoming shows from Dervish, Jig Jam, The Merry Ploughboys and Derrick Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones plus a new songs from John Prine tribute band, Bruised Orange, Austin, TX native, Aaron McDonnell, and from rising star, Dan McCabe. Hey, it's all right here on Windy City Irish Radio. Check us out live on 750AM WNDZ or live streamed on www.globalirishradio.com or on our podcast at www.windycityirishradio.com.
As the world emerges from it's pandemic cocoon, hope springs eternal here in the Windy City Irish Radio studios with lots of brand new music featuring Imelda May's new album The 11 Hour and music from Nella, Fay Field, Brian Mullen, Aaron McDonnell, Asleep at the Reel, Colm Gavin, Pauly Fagan, Murphy's Lawyer, Sara Noone, Grainne Brady, and Emily Magner Hurley plus exciting news of the reopening of two cornerstones of Chicago's Irish American community, Gaelic Park and the Irish American Heritage Center. Episode 114: I love bringing people in studio who are not familar with the #liveonpurpose initative. My favorite part is when they get REALLY excited about it after we talk for 30 or 40 minutes. That was the case with Dani and Aaron McDonnell, singer/songwriters on the Texas Music Scene. I loved getting to know this couple and talking about their goals, dreams and aspirations. (AND listening to their great music).
