Hour 1- It's time to appreciate the Patriots defense. Brian Barrett explains why you can count on the Patriots defense for the remainder of the season. As more and more people start to buy into the Patriots, Barrett takes a look at how quickly Bill Belichick rebuilt the team around Mac Jones, and how Bill hit all the targets on draft night. Looking at the Patriots run game and how it stacks up against the Titans who are still without Derrick Henry. Could Mac Jones win a big game with his arm if he needs to, and why the Mike Vrabel factor may be outweighed this Sunday. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

John M. Campbell has made a career in the aerospace industry. Now, he speculates on the worlds currently unknown to us that science and engineering may unlock. He is compelled by the promise technology offers to address many of the issues facing human survival. The prospect of extraterrestrial life in our solar system and the outer planets fascinates him. He finds intriguing the likelihood that machine intelligence will likely surpass mankind's ability to control it in this century. Inspiration for his stories often comes from the strange realities of quantum physics and cosmology. He hopes his stories will inspire careers in science and engineering as the authors he read inspired his career. John is an active member of Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers as a coordinator of the Aurora critique group. He lives with his wife in Denver, Colorado. This year, John's story "The Tiger and the Waif” won first place in the Writers of the Future contest for the fourth quarter of 2020. It joined the first, second, and third prize winning stories for each quarter in the annual anthology published by Galaxy Press. John joined authors from both Volume 36 and Volume 37 in Los Angeles for a week-long writers workshop given by the contest judges. “It's just the game you know. It can be so cruel sometimes. It's a beautiful struggle and we love the game because it tests you on so many different levels. The game itself, the sport, the season, this journey teaches these kids so much about the things they'll be facing in life.” ~ Glacier soccer coach Ryan Billiet. Last weekend saw the culmination of yet another fall sports season as the state soccer championships played out across the state. The Class A and Class AA Boys both featured teams from the Flathead Valley. In Class A, the championship was a rematch of last year with Whitefish and Columbia Falls taking the field up in Whitefish and the Bulldogs coming out victorious. In the Double A final, the Glacier Wolfpack returned to the championships for the second time in program history to face two-time reigning champion Hellgate down in Missoula. That game played out over 99 minutes, taking two overtime periods before there was finally a break in the stellar defense and goalkeeping to give Hellgate a third straight title and send the Wolfpack home with a second place trophy.Glacier coach Ryan Billiet joins host Micah Drew to talk about the years of work that brought the Wolfpack to the state final, how the match played out and the graduating members of his team. Later, Micah runs through the latest stories from the last week including a report listing COVID-19 as the state's third leading cause of death, updates on Montana's redistricting commission and the upcoming tourism town hall.Read more about all of this week's stories and get the latest breaking news at flatheadbeacon.com and sign up for our new daily newsletter at flatheadbeacon.com/newsletter.RELATED LINKSNovember 3 E-EditionGlacier Country Tourism to Host Town HallMontana Commission Delays Choosing Congressional DistrictsNew Report Lists COVID-19 as Third Leading Cause of Death in MontanaWhitefish Wins Record Fourth Straight Soccer ChampionshipWhitefish Municipal Election ResultsThe music in this this episode is “Thinking Music” by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com), licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License, See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick talks about the San Francisco Giants' clutch, thrilling win over the San Diego Padres. LaMonte Wade Jr. delivered another huge hit in the 9th inning, this time to give the Giants a one-run lead that they would hold onto in a dicey bottom of the 9th. Tyler Rogers got the save in place of an injured Jake McGee, but things were not exactly smooth. Brandon Crawford started the inning with a leadoff error, then Rogers fell behind Fernando Tatis Jr. 3-1. Rogers came back to strike out Tatis, and then got Manny Machado to ground into a 112-mph double play, from Brandon Belt to Crawford to Rogers covering the bag. When all was said and done, it was an enormous victory, especially after the Giants fell behind early due to Kevin Gausman having a shaky outing. He allowed three home runs, all on hanging splitters. But with the win, the Giants were able to remain alone in first place, clinging to a one-game lead over the Dodgers with 11 games remaining. Scott Kazmir will start for the Giants tonight, making his first appearance with the team in a number of months. Chadwick Tromp was claimed off waivers by the Braves prior to last night's game. Michael shares his life story and his passion and transformation with us! At the tender age of just seventeen, Michael enlisted in the United States Army. He served two years as an enlisted man before being chosen to become an officer, receiving his commission in June of 1967. After Ranger leadership and patrol training, followed by Jungle Training with the Special Forces in Panama, he was sent to Vietnam as an Infantry Rifle Platoon Leader where he joined his new platoon during the heat of battle. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart for being wounded in action. After the war he found refuge in acting and writing as an escape from his own demons and the fog of war. He is now an award-winning playwright having won First Place at the Smithfield One Act Play Festival and his plays have been featured in many locations in the U.S. as well as internationally. His very emotional play (Think Twice) about homelessness, was the second most read play on the internet and was produced by the Durban University Theater in Durban, South Africa.Michael was once referred to as one of the lost veterans when he drifted into the mountains of Blue Lake, California, and lived alone in a trailer with his dogs. This is where he started the catharsis of writing, to expel all of the horrors he had experienced, and in his work are many of the truths he had to endure.Michael was a part of the creative input and development of Vietnam War Stories, one of HBO's first successful mini-series.He is also proud to say that he was invited to dance in the Circle of Warriors, and is an honorary member of both the Shoshone and Nez Perce Indian Tribes. He learned many things from his native brother warriors. The one thing that he cherishes most of all is learning to walk the Red Road in harmony with all living things. In his latest work, A Soldier's Final Act, he also brings us closer to the alarming suicide rates of our Veterans. We are all familiar with the tragic statistics but very few of us actually know of one of these troubled souls. A SOLDIER'S FINAL ACTSynopsis:In the past year more than twenty veterans a day ended their own lives. Suicide has also been the second highest reason for adolescent deaths. Our story begins with a troubled veteran in a hotel room. He is seeking help from the VA and is distraught and at his end. He is carrying ghosts that will not let him be at peace. He ends up taking his own life.We then find a family of three who are in the same room having difficulties of their own. The girl is 16 and goth. They are staying at the hotel due to their son who has been injured in a football accident. The father has never approved of his young daughter's lifestyle or choices. The mother tends to side with the father which leads to arguments between the three of them. The father, disgusted, eventually leaves the room. The mother soon follows but has taken a pill from her purse. The daughter noticed the pills and is about to take her own life when the spirit of the veteran reappears. The girl senses a spirit close. The spirit sees her and what she is about to do. The dialogue between the two convinces the young girl that suicide is not the answer which leads to a reconciliation for the family. In saving the young girl the veteran has redeemed himself and is transported into a bright light. For more information link here: Ltmsm@yahoo.comA VISION AT THE END OF THE ROADHere I am at last. So many miles and so many battles. From the bloody fields of battle in a war to the battles I have had to fight in my own psyche. My emotions are overwhelming as I walk along the vast corn fields. I am crying and I begin running. I run for about a mile until I can see the final crossroads. I stop and stand on the corner for a minute listening to the crows and the wind as it gently breezes through the cornfields. It is a sunny day as I walk slowly down the road. In the distance, I can see the old farmhouse materializing like a mirage growing in the desert. And then, my heart is overwhelmed as I see them. Two shirtless and dark tanned little blond-haired children playing in the yard. It is my daughter, Kelly, and my first-born son, Michael. I can see their dark bodies and their blond hair shining brightly from the sun. "Is that them? Could that be my children? Look at how beautiful they are." I think to myself. They are laughing and playing and my heart is filled with joy as they run to me hollering; "Daddy, it's Daddy!"Authors's note:The most honorable duty I ever received was to lead American soldiers into combat. The second most honorable duty was my appointment as OIC of Funeral Detail at Fort Benning, Georgia, burying our fallen heroes. Now it is my personal duty to lead our veterans back home, to themselves, to hold their heads high and never forget the pride.
The show opens with "soooo, technically, the Vikings are in first place" fodder, followed by a look at the Arizona Cardinals, and WR KJ Osborn finishes the first hour...Charch's fantasy pickup joint midway thru...then Gleeman is final hour
