I went to school to be a sports broadcaster and actually had a chance to call some basketball and football games at the University of Kansas on KJHK-FM before realizing that sports play-by-play was not going to work for me. That's why I am so excited this week to interview Dan Scott. If you don't know Dan, you might know him by this call from March Madness earlier this year when Furman upset Virginia in the first round of the NCAA tournament. I love that call and I love Dan's testimony and his story. In fact, I'm not sure why, but I was overcome with emotion listening to Dan talk about his redemption. Maybe it was because our testimonies are similar in some ways. For Dan, God took him from the top of the mountain, humbled him on the way down the mountain, only to lift him back up, and he handled that rise back up with so much humility as you will hear. In addition to being Director of Broadcasting for Furman University, Dan is also the founder of Grand Slam Ministries where he hosts his own radio show - the Dan Scott Show. Hour 1: Boomer is back from Nashville, where he only got to spend part of one day due to three flight cancellations. TSA took his hair gel after letting it through the day before. The Mets won and fans were having fun until the bullpen tried to blow the game. The Yankees offense is miserable. Anthony Rizzo is going through the worst stretch of his career. The Jets aren't going to show players getting cut at the end of training camp. If the Jets try to make things hard on HBO, that's when Hard Knocks becomes a distraction. Training camp isn't as demanding as when Boomer played. When will the Bengals announce this year's Ring of Honor inductees? Jerry is here and has audio of Saquon on the “Money Matters” podcast saying he has to think about possibly sitting out this season. Boomer wishes Saquon got a long term deal because he does everything for the Giants. Boomer wants to know what CAA told Saquon that made him switch representation. Le'Veon Bell apologized to Steelers fans for leaving. Boomer wonders if there's collusion among NFL teams to not pay running backs. The Yankees lost again and only had two hits. Mad Dog gave out the old WFAN phone number while opening his show yesterday. Francisco Alvarez hit two home runs and the Mets barely held on to beat the White Sox. 12 teams scored 10 or more runs for the first time since 1894. Gio doesn't believe the stats that go back that far. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer gives his review of “Quarterback” on Netflix. He says it shows Marcus Mariota is not cut out to be a leader. Kirk Cousins comes across well even though Justin Jefferson says he is not a top 5 QB. Hour 2: Gio wonders if Boomer knows the format of the show. Boomer had to get his hands dirty brewing coffee. Boomer catches up on the fallout from the Gilgo Beach murders. A caller's girlfriend interacted with the suspect not long before he was arrested. Jerry returns for an update but first, Boomer doesn't like how Jerry responds to a compliment and Boomer tells the story or Jerry on the golf course five times a week now. Boomer has an example of how Saquon needing to protect himself can impact the Giants. Boomer feels bad for Saquon. LeSean McCoy doesn't think much of Daniel Jones. The Yankees lost again and Boomer wants to know what happened to their bullpen. Gio has the answer. The Mets bullpen came very close to blowing a 7 run lead. The Nets will  play in Paris next season. In the final segment of the hour, Gio and Boomer say CMac should go somewhere other than Florida for his vacation in August. Boomer learns about Gio's idea for “maskets”. Boomer sa ys Gio now exudes man confidence. Hour 3: Boomer learned about Buc-ee's convenience stores with 150 gas pumps and wants them to open one on Long Island. Is “Man Bucket” a better name? “Male-bag”? “Man-sack”? A caller from Louisiana says Buc-ee's is the best store in the world. Another from Miami agrees. Guy Adami's daughter did not appreciate yesterday's penis injection conversation. Jerry returns and gets back in on the “man bucket” developments. Will Saquon actually sit out? The Angels beat the Yankees again. Rays pitcher Pete Fairbanks had some interesting postgame comments about tweets he's receiving. DJ Stewart hit his first Mets home run in a win. Travis d'Arnaud signed an extension with the Braves. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer still can't get over the size of Buc-ee's locations. Gio says the quality of grocery stores on Long Island has to improve. Callers have many ideas for the man buckets. Maybe Boomer & Gio can host their own version of Shark Tank. Hour 4: Boomer asks Gio which grocery stores he has near his house. Saquon says he is considering holding out but Gio still doesn't think there's any way he does. Maybe the Giants can sign Dalvin Cook to replace Saquon. If he does sit out, would the Giants tag him again next year? Boomer never would have believed you if you told him years ago Evan Engram would have a long term deal and Saquon would not. Callers share more man bucket ideas. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and plays “who is this?” with Boomer. Saquon spoke about potentially sitting out. Players don't want to be labeled as quitters. Boomer says Aaron Boone must be frustrated with the Yankees poor play and Jerry has audio of Boone sounding pretty frustrated and testy while talking to Jomboy before last night's game. This week on Flightless Bird, David becomes fixated on the beaver, the rodent that's become synonymous with Buc-ees, the giant American gas station. But David quickly learns there is so much to the beaver, the biggest rodent in the United States. With over 15 million of them spread over North America, they were once hunted almost to extinction for their pelts. David talks to Leila Philip, author of Beaverland, an incredible book about how the beaver transformed America. David learns that the beaver was responsible for creating America's first multi-millionaire and how that money was turned into a real estate empire that we can still see today. David also finds out how important America's beavers were to building America and how we might need them to survive on a planet where wildfires are becoming increasingly prevalent.
