It seems like each & every day I am continuing to find the value in experiencing great works of art & creativity. I have found that interacting with people who continually exercise their creative muscles can be an immensely valuable experience in more ways than one. Today, my guest is someone who not only is an experienced creative in his own right, but is also living proof that we can truly develop our own sense of creativity given enough time & dedication! My guest today is AJ Wiley, the founder of Kumawave & a freelance graphic designer. It was a ton of fun chatting with AJ, so I hope you enjoy!I want to give a big thank you to AJ for being on the show! I would like to coin a new phrase. It's called the "Holy-shit-thats-cool-factor" That "Holy-shit-thats-cool-factor" is what sets AJ Wiley apart from a lot of other illustrators and designers. He simply makes amazing work with a unique purpose and style. AJ is the founder of Kumawave, an outdoor-inspired apparel brand, that brings his art to life across tee shirts, hoodies, stickers, mugs, and more. AJ never set out with the intention to start his own clothing brand. In fact, his lifelong dream had always been to design for Patagonia. But after creating a few Patagonia-inspired designs and posting them to TikTok with the hopes of landing a job, he started to build a fanbase of his own. Since then AJ officially launched Kumawave with his brother and it has been off to the races. In this episode we talked about building a clothing brand from nothing, how he balance his love of art versus the business of his art, and the secrets behind how he amassed a 100K person TikTok following. Awesome, inspiring episode. If you want to follow along with what AJ is up to check him out on TikTok at @ajwileydesign or on Instagram @ajwiley.design. And if you want to get your hands on some of that new Kumawave merch, check it out at kumawave.com And if you're not already, you should be keeping up with Destination Different all over the internet... Kenn Edwards invites AJ Wiley (of podcasts Gobbledygeek/The Avatar Returns) and director Joseph William Lewis (Nowheresville, upcoming motion picture A/V) back on the show for the final episode of 2015, bringing the trio together for the first time on record since the final episode of their former project, Smoke Gets In Your Ears: A Mad Men Podcast. This episode gets deep as the gang dive deep into the inherent frustrations and subsequent psychosis brought on by the life of the hungry artist in the modern era, habitual practices and lack thereof, dealing with society politically in the current social climate, and much more. It's a good one! Strap in, enjoy! Follow @TheKennEdwards, @ToastedSchizo, & @UnpluggedCrazy.

Hosts of the Gobbledygeek Podcast, AJ WILEY and PAUL SMITH, return to the show to finally tackle 1986's Howard the Duck. This idea has been gestating for awhile, but we finally got it laid down on digital wax. We talk about the movie's dubious reputation as one of the worst movies ever (it isn't), our guilty pleasures, likes and dislikes, and the history of its production, including its comic origins and role in the creation of Pixar. We also touch on Jeffrey Jones (not vice versa), Tim Robbins, Lea Thompson, the Thomas Dolby-produced music, and the rather excellent make-up and visual effects. Enjoy! As we usually do this time of year, THE DEBATABLE PODCAST is going on hiatus for the rest of the summer. And, the first installment is Phil Alden Robinson's 1992 caper film, Sneakers. With the power to disassemble most everything around him, Carl was very good at taking things apart; less so at putting them back together. One divorce and an alienated daughter later, he realized the toll heroing had taken. In an attempt to move on and take charge of his life, Carl hung up the cape and opened Cook's Deli. But things are never that simple in the superhero capital of the world. Cook's Deli has a front-row seat to the city's superpowered exploits, from the exciting to the bizarre. A former sidekick discovers just how hard life is without a hero, a psychic rat goes on the warpath for another slice of rye, a D-list villain plots his revenge...these are just some of the adventures going on right in front of the deli counter. Carl may change the world, even more than he did in costume. Only now he does it one cold cut at a time. In THE DELI COUNTER OF JUSTICE, you'll explore the world in and around Cook's Deli with nine stories and poems written by Kitty Chandler,

It’s an even-numbered episode, which theoretically puts Paul in the drivers seat for this week, but he completely phones it in, so AJ Wiley takes the reins and redeems himself, more or less, for many of his prior podcast failures. He welcomes foul-mouthed fiddle player Anna Williams to the show to school the boys on how to talk about music. Also pet gender, cast announcements for Fifty Shades of Grey, and Gobbledygeek being so bad it’s driven Hayao Miyazaki into retirement. Meanwhile, Paul’s only contribution is the pitch for League of Extraordinarily Awkward Auteur Directors. Next: the boys continue to fail at this job.
