Slap me thrice and hand me to my mama! This week, we review and discuss the epic finale to the original Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, 2007's "At World's End". Does it bring the story full circle? Do all of the characters end up where we want them to? Are we pining for more, or was this more than enough? All of this and more this week on Monoreel Radio.
At World's End perhaps revolution can be achieved but only for those who truly believe in their hearts. Leeria proclaims the dominance of her vision, Oscar appeals to the hearts of students, Astrid lets herself drown in her past and Katell wanders from the shadows into the fire of revolution. We're back with another Triple Feature, talking about the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN Trilogy, how they hold up, their lack of piracy, why Geoffrey Rush is amazing, how CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL is amazing, how DEAD MAN'S CHEST is okay, and how AT WORLD'S END's bonkers finale makes for great viewing!
What lessons did you learn from At World's End that we missed? Did we discuss your favorite scene? What’s your Monday Morning Quarterback and what prop would you want to own? It seems fitting that the longest film in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise would mean an extra-bloated episode of We Want The D. But in our defense, AT WORLD'S END has a lot to unpack in terms of sheer plot. Each character has their own scheme to follow, their own betrayal to make, and for chrissakes they spend the first hour just trying to bring Jack Sparrow back from the dead. This may be the most convoluted of any of the installments to Disney's seafaring franchise (certainly so far), but there's enough residual charm from the first two films that aside from being waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long there's worse things you could do while folding laundry. Join us for another adventure on the high seas as we continue our Summer of Pirates!
In which we take a look at all four films in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise (The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest, At World's End and On Stranger Tides) in the run up to Dead Men Tell No Tales / Salazar's Revenge (depending on where you live). Lots of talk of pirates, Johnny Depp, zombies, monkeys... pretty much anything and everything you could want... ...and, as always, we pitch our own ideas for what the sequel should be. This week, Sol and Allen actually pitch real sequels instead of joking around like they normally do which makes for a nice change of pace.
The fourth episode of the Abandoned Theater Podcast highlighted by a discussion on At World's End. Five other movies are discussed but I'm bad at this so I already forgot what they are. There's a butler at one point. Fuck you.http://archive.org/download/ATP4AWE/ATP4AWE.mp3
I lost my show notes for this one so I'll just wing it. First off, SPOILER ALERT! If you haven't seen Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End, I give you fair warning that this show contains some slight spoilers. Also, we had a special guest on the show via Skype, DarkCastle75 from the forums. We discussed POTC 3 with him, along with the inevitable random stuff that comes with our show. Thanks for listening!
Hey folks another podcast fresh and ready from the oven. It is another fun movie discussion where we give it Shrek rating system that may not be for the squimish. Music for this week's show is the song Pirates by Die Kapitalist Pig and can be found at www.podsafeaudio.com. As always your comments and suggestions are welcome.
It's Memorial Day weekend in the USA, generally thought of as the "official" start of the summer movie season (though more and more films are opening well beforehand every year). This weekend it's Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End. But 30 years ago it was Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. To commemorate the occasion, we spend the second half of this episode talking about Star Wars as the series has appeared in video games. From the original 1980s arcade game to Masters of Teras Kasi and KOTOR, join us for a walk down memory lane. Thanks for listening! Leave us a voicemail comment by calling 713-893-8069.
