It was an interesting weekend at the box office. The big discourse was all around Melania, but we don't really care about that. What was interesting to us was the battle for the top spot between an old favorite and a YouTuber. We also talk about an exorcism movie in the White House and an upcoming movie we reviewed years ago.Teacher's Pet sounds like it is an erotic thriller. The story centers around a new high school teacher who notices and wants to help a student in his class. Naturally, things are not what they seem. Instead of a sultry suspense, the film is much more frightening.Horror taught us long ago that a great villain can take a movie a long way. Think of all the fan favorite killers that lead very popular franchises. Teacher's Pet has a strong villain that carries its basic plot. (The story may be paint-by-numbers, but it is very well written.) There are some noticeable flaws, but it is worth watching.Whistle has one of the strongest casts seen in an indie horror movie. Dafnee Keen and Nick Frost are the big names, but it also includes stars from Yellowjackets, Rebel Moon, and the upcoming Hunger Games movies. Even better, no one phones in their performances. There may not be much to the characters, but they are fun.The film is a typical high school slasher filled with corny lines, unrequited love, and infighting. The kills are amazing and how the killer commits their acts is a cool idea. But after a very strong first two acts, the story relies on a very familiar crutch and almost ruins everything. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

They look authentic for the time, and the book. This is part of a larger idea of separating the films from the core of the fandom, and instead bringing the books back to the foreground. Looking at these photos, I don't see Richard Griffiths and Fiona Shaw, but rather Vernon and Petunia Dursley.·      17:29 Harry! Big news: we got the first official look at Domonic McGlaughlin as Harry Potter. He is holding the clicker-thingy with all these official markings like “scene 1, take 1” and all that. Domonic doesn't look like Harry, but Dan Radcliffe does. That might be pointing to the fact that now the TV show is going for a much more specific goal.·      24:18 Hagrid! Nick Frost as Hagrid was also in an official release. He doesn't look as bushy as Robbie Coltrane, but his clothes defiantly look similar. He has a striped shirt underneath and a thick green coat on top. His face is much brighter. Does that point to a difference in character?Having anything you want to hear or say? Grab your cricket bat, raid the fridge for a cold one, and head to the Winchester, because this week, the Born to Watch crew are diving deep into one of the smartest and most beloved horror-comedies of all time with their Shaun of the Dead (2004) review. With G-Man MIA (probably off playing Tekken in the shed), Matt and Sir Dimmy hold the fort to break down Edgar Wright's 2004 cult classic that reanimated the zombie genre and redefined the zombie flick with a pint of bitter and a dash of British wit.In this week's episode, the lads explore how Shaun of the Dead walks the tightrope between gore and giggles, creating a film that works just as well as a slacker comedy as it does a horror satire. Damo admits to confusing it with The World's End (don't worry, he's new here), while Matt reveals he's seen the film nearly 20 times and could watch it on loop, especially with a packet of pork crackle and a Pepsi Max.From the iconic walk to the shop (twice), to the Queen-backed zombie beatdown in the Winchester, the boys dissect every major scene with the kind of reverence usually reserved for Tarantino or Scorsese. They also dig into Simon Pegg's breakout role as the titular Shaun, Nick Frost's glorious (and infuriating) turn as Ed, and the supporting cast of Britcom legends including Lucy Davis, Dylan Moran, and the ever-reliable Bill Nighy. They ask all the important questions:Is Shaun actually a zombie at the start of the film, who awakens into humanity?Could a pub really be the best place to ride out the apocalypse? And how the hell did Shaun survive that crowd of flesh-eaters outside the Winchester?Damo goes full philosopher, questioning the human condition in the age of smartphones (spoiler: we're all zombies), while Matt wonders why anyone would throw priceless vinyl at the undead. But it's not all jokes and Queen sing-alongs, the episode also touches on the emotional beats of the film, like Shaun's relationship with his mum and stepdad, the heartbreak of watching loved ones turn, and the surprisingly poignant ending that still manages to sneak in one last gag.The boys also fire off rapid takes in “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly,” with highlights like:The perfect pacing and editing of the dual morning walk sequencesThe underappreciated brilliance of the bizarro “mirror crew” sceneAnd Ed's ability to be the most annoying – yet somehow still likeable – flatmate in cinema historyThrow in some choice reviews from critics (both good and hilariously bad), box office trivia, and the revelation that director Edgar Wright used just $4 million to craft a film that grossed over $30 million and launched a thousand pub-themed Halloween costumes, and you've got yourself one hell of a breakdown.Oh, and yes, the team briefly wonders why cricket bats are now over $1,000, a real horror show.So whether you're a diehard fan of the Cornetto Trilogy or new to the undead scene, this episode is a must-listen.Listen now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts!Join the conversation:Is Shaun of the Dead the best zombie comedy ever made?Would you ride out the apocalypse in a pub? And what's the best record to throw at a zombie?#BornToWatch #ShaunoftheDead #EdgarWright #SimonPegg #ZombieComedy #BritishHumour #HorrorComedy #NickFrost #CornettoTrilogy #MoviePodcast

I saw the How to Train Your Dragon live-action remake… and I have thoughts. In this episode, I unpack why this remake felt like a clunky cosplay of the original. From jarring diversity choices in a Viking village, to Gobber's wild prosthetic downgrade, to live-action humans moving like they're dodging foam axes at a Renaissance fair—it's all here.I talk about:• Why DEI casting broke immersion• Why the animation >>> live-action• Nick Frost as Gobber (and why I miss Craig Ferguson)• Mason Thames as Hiccup vs. Jay Baruchel• The awkward parent moment in the fire trial scene• And why scene-for-scene remakes can feel like lazy cinemaDon't worry, it's not all fire and brimstone—I give credit where it's due: Gerard Butler still brings the heat, and Julian Dennison made me laugh out loud.If you saw the remake, you'll get it. If you haven't… maybe just rewatch the 2010 classic.

Angela and Nick welcome an actor who definitely knows his way around a kitchen. Nick Frost is an actor, comedian and screenwriter and the first (and possibly only) participant in a Dish chop-off! Frost joins us after the release of his new film, How To Train Your Dragon, a live action remake of the hugely popular animated film series, based on Cressida Cowell's books. The movie sees him star as the popular blacksmith Gobber alongside Gerard Butler, Mason Thames and Nico Parker.  You will know Nick Frost from a range of TV and film roles, including the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End) alongside his good pal and long-time collaborator Simon Pegg. Frost also appeared with Pegg in the cult TV comedy Spaced. Other TV and film credits include Attack the Block, Paul, Truth Seekers, Green Wing, The Adventures of Tintin and Fighting With My Family, alongside costar Florence Pugh.  Nick loves life in a kitchen, having worked as a chef before getting into acting. His passion for food is beautifully detailed in his memoir/recipe book, A Slice Of Fried Gold, which is now available in paperback. Having met Angela once before, Frost finally gets to have a full conversation with her (and Nick) over a delicious meal of spicy barbecued lamb with minty tomato & watermelon relish, with Angela marinating the meat overnight for extra flavour. Nick opts for a Fanta, but for wine-lovers our Waitrose experts recommend a glass of PepperBox Shiraz.  At our request, Nick brought his favourite kitchen knife to the record for a demonstration of his chopping skills alongside Angela. Our hosts dig into Nick's passion for great tasting food (and clean surfaces), and get  the lowdown on the world's best pizza, discovered by Nick in Belfast.  You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube  All recipes from this podcast can be found at waitrose.com/dishrecipes A transcript for this episode can be found at waitrose.com/dish We can't all have a Michelin star chef in the kitchen, but you can ask Angela for help.  Send your dilemmas to dish@waitrose.co.uk and she'll try to answer them in a future episode.Dish from Waitrose is made by Cold Glass Productions.

The studio also removed several unannounced Marvel titles from its release calendar: a February 13, 2026 dated release has been removed entirely while November 2026 and 2027 releases have been rebranded from untitled Marvel films, to untitled Disney films.Memorial Day weekend's $326.7 million haul at the domestic box office was enough to earn it the title of the highest grossing Memorial Day weekend ever, with newcomer, Disney's live action Lilo & Stitch remake leading the way with $183 million, overtaking Top Gun: Maverick's $160 million weekend from 2022. Speaking of Tom Cruise, he was no slouch either, with the Mission: Impossible franchise's latest and supposed final installment, The Final Reckoning, earning a franchise high of $77.5 million. While appearing on a recent episode of The Box Office Podcast, Ryan Reynolds revealed he pitched an R-rated Star Wars film to Disney, saying, “I pitched to Disney, I said, ‘Why don't we do an R-rated “Star Wars” property? It doesn't have to be overt, A+ characters. There's a wide range of characters you could use,'” he said. “And I don't mean R-rated to be vulgar. R-rated as a Trojan horse for emotion. I always wonder why studios don't want to just gamble on something like that.” The Deadpool actor clarified the film would not be for him to star in, but contribute behind the scenes by writing and producing. Notably absent from the conversation is Disney's reception to the pitch. After an extensive search auditioning more than 30,000 actors, HBO's Harry Potter series has finally found its Harry, Hermoine and Ron, as Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout have been cast in the respective roles. Much like their predecessors from the films, our three leads are relative newcomers, with McLaughlin appearing alongside Hagrid-actor Nick Frost in the upcoming Sky comedy, Grow, and Stanton having starred as Matilda in Matilda The Musical on West End from 2023 to 2024, while this will be Stout's first significant role.Kieran Culkin has been cast as Caesar Flickerman in Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. The reboot of medical comedy Scrubs from Bill Lawrence and ABC currently in development has officially cast Zach Braff who will return to the series to reprise the role of JD, a character he played for 9 seasons.A24 confirmed Alex Garland will write and direct a live-action Elden Ring film with Bandai Namco Entertainment. The series, from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios and based on Robert Jordan's best-selling series of fantasy novels, aired its third-season finale on April 17.James Gunn confirmed DC Studios will attend Comic-Con this year(July 24-27) with a panel focusing on Peacemaker season 2. Click here to try it out!Welcome back to Bad Dads Film Review, where this week we lock, stock, and double-tap our way into the gloriously over-the-top world of Hot Fuzz (2007), the second film in Edgar Wright's beloved Cornetto Trilogy. With an outrageous body count and a razor-sharp script, it's a love letter to action movies — by way of twee English village life.Directed by Edgar Wright and written by Wright and Simon Pegg, Hot Fuzz stars Simon Pegg as Nicholas Angel, a no-nonsense London supercop who's so good at his job that he's making everyone else look bad. As a result, he's reassigned to the sleepy village of Sandford, where crime seems suspiciously low — and the residents suspiciously Stepford.Teamed up with the bumbling but big-hearted PC Danny Butterman (Nick Frost), Angel initially struggles with Sandford's slower pace — until a series of grisly “accidents” reveals something darker lurking beneath the surface. Cue a rampage of pensioners, hidden agendas, and a spectacular finale with more gunfire than the M25 at rush hour. This is one we could all agree on: Hot Fuzz is a near-perfect comedy that rewards repeat viewings. It's cleverly constructed, endlessly quotable (“The greater good!”), and absolutely packed with details that make it a joy to dissect. Whether you're a fan of action movies, British humour, or seeing Timothy Dalton with a smug smile and a hedge trimmer, there's something here for you.Hot Fuzz takes the quiet menace of rural England and sets it ablaze with blockbuster spectacle and sharp comedy. It's both homage and original, firing on all cylinders from start to finish. If you like your action with a side of Bakewell tart and local shop for local people energy, this one's a must-watch.

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesMarvel Studios kickoffs of the summer blockbuster season in just 2 weeks with the release of Thunderbolts* on May 2. With tickets now on sale, box office tracking and projections ahead of the film's release are forecasting a solid, if not somewhat soft, opening weekend; with most estimates landing between $63 to $77 million. While that is on the lower side for an MCU movie, optimists believe the general lower level of familiarity with the characters on the roster, combined with the positive test screenings, could give the film significant potential and room to grow in subsequent weeks via word of mouth. Elsewhere, Captain America actor Anthony Mackie offered some insights on Avengers: Doomsday while promoting Twisted Metal Season 2 for Peacock, saying, “It's going to give the audience that old Marvel feeling that they always had.”The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the introduction of a new Oscar category for Achievement in Stunt Design, set to debut at the 100th Academy Awards in 2028, honoring films released in 2027. This decision follows years of advocacy from industry professionals, including director and former stuntman David Leitch and stunt coordinator Chris O'Hara, who was notably credited as the first official "stunt designer" for his work on The Fall Guy. While the specific criteria and presentation details are yet to be finalized, this move is seen as a significant step toward recognizing the creative and technical artistry of stunt professionals in filmmaking. However, there is notable disappointment that earlier works, such as Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible series, will not be eligible for this new recognition.HBO has officially announced the adult cast for its upcoming Harry Potter TV series, confirming several roles and actors we've discussed, along with new additions. John Lithgow will portray Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer is cast as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu takes on Severus Snape, and Nick Frost will play Rubeus Hagrid. Additionally, Luke Thallon has been cast as Professor Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse will portray Argus Filch. Casting for the central trio—Harry, Ron, and Hermione—is still underway, with over 32,000 children auditioning for these iconic roles. In an interview with Deadline, Warner Bros' Mike De Luca and Pam Abby confirmed that the studio is moving forward with sequels to A Minecraft Movie and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. This weekend, A Minecraft Movie crossed a half a billion dollars at the global box office.A24 has released the first trailer for Ari Aster's Eddington, which stars Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, and Emma Stone. Jude Law stars in the series with Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, and Nick Frost and is created by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford. Watts recently directed the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man trilogy.
