Liverpool had the last laugh after the “rat” returned to Anfield last night. Marcus, Jim and Vish wonder why some Liverpool players save their best form for playing Real Madrid.Elsewhere, Marcus labels Micky van de Ven's goal as the best he has seen in person. Plus, we're obliged to talk about a football journalist and a pie having an argument on the internet.Sign up to the Football Ramble Patreon for ad-free shows for just $5 per month: https://www.patreon.com/footballramble.Click here to become a Friend of the Ramble on YouTube!Find us on Bluesky, X, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, and email us here: show@footballramble.com.***Please take the time to rate us on your podcast app. It means a great deal to the show and will make it easier for other potential listeners to find us. Quick question, did anyone see Vítor Pereira in M&M World this weekend? (Episode recorded November 2, 2024)While the official episode on King Kong is just over three hours, Sara, Dad, and guest Andrew Corns recorded for nearly four hours! Not everything deserves to wind up on the cutting room floor, however. Case in point, this little snippet was too fun to discard entirely, but didn't fit into the larger discussion of the film (plus it was before we started the show--which you can hear at the very end). It's a little look behind the curtain, or behind the microphone, if you will. We discuss prepping for podcasting (read: watching dozens of movies), the topic of lost films, and, of course, we talk about sports specifically college football and basketball). Please leave us a review wherever you are listening!Email us rants as well as raves: sheacinema@gmail.comYou can also find us on Instagram (and now Twitter/X): @sheacinema

What happens if Man United actually win five games in a row? All we know is that bloke will get a haircut and there is absolutely no way we would ever let Vish back on the Ramble.Today, Marcus, Luke, Pete and Vish mull over whether that is actually a possibility. Tonight we slow the ritual. On this thirtieth night of Lovecraft, I wanted to do something gentler — a lo-fi reading of one of Lovecraft's early tales, paired with a little ramble about life, movies, and the chaos of crafting (which… went exactly as well as you'd imagine). It's quiet. Imperfect. Personal. The kind of night where you can just listen, breathe, and be part of the warmth that's grown here this month.✨ GIVEAWAY: Leave a

Send us a textNext February, Canongate will publish Nation of Strangers, the third instalment in a series by Turkish novelist, essayist and journalist Ece Temelkuran. Ahead of its publication we met to discuss the two books that precede it, ‘How To Lose A Country' and ‘Together - A Manifesto Against A Heartless World.' Both deal with what Ece has termed ‘cloud fascism' - the gradual then sudden everywhereness and nowhereness of global autocracy.Rooted in her own experience of the Erdogan regime's corruption and unrelenting assault on human rights, both books detail the dark drift toward fascism and the determination and dignity needed in resistance. In this wide ranging conversation, the first of two interviews, we discuss the normalisation of shamelessness, the dangers of pseudo-understanding, the fight for institutions and the essential value of stories, something Ece describes as ‘natural penicillin for diseases of the soul. ‘Ece Temelkuran is an award-winning Turkish novelist, political thinker and public speaker whose work has appeared in the Guardian, New York Times, Le Monde, La Stampa, El Pais, New Statesman and Der Spiegel. Her novels have been published in several languages and adapted for the stage.‘One of the most acute and perceptive analysts of the furtive growth of fascism. Everyone should know about this.'PHILIP PULLMAN‘This is essential.'MARGARET ATWOOD‘Temelkuran is a brilliant writer, finding humour, hope and humanity in the darkest corners of our current malaise. Together lifted my heart and my spirits.'BRIAN ENO‘A potent mix of fierce urgency but unyielding calmness.'THE IRISH TIMESMusic used on this episode is Room 2 by 36 @fieldzine www.fieldzine.comwww.patreon.com/fieldzine

That's the question on everyone's lips right now. After three wins on the bounce in the Premier League, is Sir Jim Ratcliffe already drawing up plans to use The United Strand's luscious locks to insulate Old Trafford? Marcus, Jim and Pete have their theories...Lots more theories on today's Mailbag, from load-bearing dildos in the London Stadium, to the greatest British footballer of all time. Hey—welcome to Liquid Late Nights. Tonight's a laid-back, late-night ramble about everything from sketchy rumors about who's running the country to why your apples and bananas seem to be rotting overnight. We talk internet woes (5G vs. fiber), stale chips, and the ridiculousness of getting arrested for rushing a football field in Florida. Pull up a seat, grab a snack (if it hasn't gone bad yet), and hang out while we joke, gripe, and keep it real — like friends catching up after dark.
This week we join the Dead as they play the last show of a 3 show run in Texas during October 1977. This one takes place on the campus of SMU in Dallas Texas on October 15. The first set opens with a spirited 'Bertha' into 'Good Lovin'. They move into a more laid back mood with 'They Love Each Other' then the 'Mama Tried' into 'Big River' ramps things bck up. A nice 'Ramble on Rose' is marred here with a nasty cut..sorry about that. The 'Peggy O' that follows 'Looks Like Rain' has some very nice vocals, and the set-closing 'Let It Grow' has some nice jamming to close the set. Grateful Dead Moody Coliseum - Southern Methodist University Dallas, TX 10/15/1977 - Saturday One Bertha--> (7:19) Good Lovin' (7:55) They Love Each Other (8:32) Mama Tried--> (2:34) Big River (6:05) Ramble On Rose// (6:00) Looks Like Rain (9:17) Peggy-O (7:36) Let It Grow (11:27) You can listen to this week's Deadpod here: http://traffic.libsyn.com/deadshow/deadpod101725.mp3 I hope you enjoy the show.. btw - if you are on facebook you can join our discussion there at: the Deadpod group. This week we find out that Mohammed is building his fan base. Yes, it appears that he has at least one! It's a lovely woman who lives in Maynooth, County Kildare. Apparently, she drives a car that looks like a frog. Let's hope her husband doesn't find out! About Mo, not the car! He knows about the car, in fairness! Óran has been having some issues with the WhatsApp desktop application for Windows, and also with WhatsApp video calling via his Meta Ray Ban smart glasses. It turns out a WhatsApp update is required for the video to work again on the Meta glasses. Bold boys WhatsApp! Professor Mohammed has advice on updating iOS apps and gives us a detailed answer on why he thinks there have been so many accessibility issues with the latest iOS 26 update for iPhone. Do you use a Freesat set-top box for your linear TV viewing? Óran would like to know if the latest Freesat boxes are accessible to blind users. Let us know via blindguyschat@gmail.com. Jan is taking Mohammed on a date. Seriously. They're heading off to Jan's local football club to watch a live game, complete with live audio description. Will Jan get a second date, or will Mo make a hasty exit? Finally, we tell of Stuart Lawler's recent frustration when he was trying to cancel his SKY TV subscription. So, forget about hanging scary skeletons outside your house and instead cosy up to your device of choice, and listen to the number 1 podcast as recently voted by hibernating squirrels: Blind Guys Chat - 7 out of 10 iOS updates prefer it to being a bunch of code. What matters is how other people are remembering it and feeling filled up by it.” — Amy Helm on carrying forward Levon Helm's vision“The Midnight Rambles were about recovery — physically, spiritually, financially. My dad started with 20 people just to pay the electric bill, and from there he got his voice back, his career back, and won three Grammys.” — Amy Helm on the rebirth of Levon Helm“Phil showed me that these songs were meant to be rediscovered in every fraction of every moment.
