Stattdessen geht es um Darth Bane, den sogenannten Schöpfer der Dunkelheit und Begründer der Regel der Zwei. Anlässlich der Neuveröffentlichung der Trilogie durch Blanvalet in diesem Jahr wird es auch Zeit, im JediCast mal über diese bekannten Werke zu sprechen. Und Ines, Matthias und Tobias wurden keinesfalls enttäuscht. Langweilig oder gar beiläufig ist an diesem Werk nichts. September 2006 auf Englisch bei Del Rey. Im Jahr 2021 folgte eine Neuveröffentlichung im Zuge der Essential Legends Collection. Am 22. April 2026 wurde das Werk auch in Deutschland mit neuem Cover neu veröffentlicht. Zudem erschien am 20. April 2026 erstmals eine deutschsprachige Hörbuchversion, gelesen von Richard Barenberg. Die Rezensionen Maximilian hat die Taschenbuchausgabe aus dem Jahr 2014 rezensiert und dabei vor allem die Einsteigerfreundlichkeit des Werks gelobt. Er resümierte: "Es gibt eine Reise durch die Galaxis, in einem gewissen Grad wird die Vorgeschichte zu Episode I erklärt und es wird kaum bis gar kein Vorwissen benötigt, um die Handlung zu verstehen." Tobias hat sich das Werk im Zuge der Neuauflage von Blanvalet genauer angeschaut und sich oftmals etwas überwältigt gefühlt von all der Handlung, die dort in kürzester Zeit erzählt wird. Trotzdem oder gerade deswegen hatte er Spaß mit dem Werk und schreibt: "Alle Fans der Alten Republik, von Videospielen wie eben KOTOR oder SWTOR oder schlicht Geschichten rund um die Sith und deren Ab- und Aufstieg, machen mit diesem Buch in keinem Fall etwas falsch. The Knights of the Old Republic's characters are what make it the strongest Star Wars video game series of all time. Even though the combat model, graphics, and RPG elements are somewhat archaic, the characters, including the villains, stands the test of time. In fact, I challenge anyone in the comments to mention a better cast of characters or stronger dialogue in the genre today. When I played KOTOR for the first time in 8th grade, RPGs were an enigma to me. All I wanted to do was mainline the story, not bothering with any paths of resistance or sidequests that were too challenging. I can recall never skipping dialogue and always reading descriptions of every weapon and piece of armor I acquired. I wanted to absorb everything I could about this new Star Wars universe like Darth Nihilus devouring the Force. Now, as a seasoned ultra-chad gamer, I see how much content I left unplayed. I complete as many quests as possible, minmax my stats, and try to complete all my companions' quests as well. However, when it comes to Star Wars, the villains must stand out. This is the franchise that has the villain, after all. And although the villains in KOTOR mirror or rhyme the OT, the baddies of KOTOR 2 are clearly in a world of their own. These are monsters that you will never forget. Let's just say they would eat Sidious and Vader for lunch, but they are also tragic in their own way. I hope you'll enjoy this discussion with the Brothers Krynn, who are also huge fans of these games.

The Exile and the crew of the Ebon Hawk return to Dxun at the behest of Jedi Master Kevar, loyal guardian of Onderon's queen. Onderon itself is at war, and like everything else in KOTOR 2, this crisis could spiral out of control and destabilize the wider galaxy if things go bad. And that's why the Exile and co will need to split into two teams, finally kill a bunch of Sith randos, and spend like an hour doing basic algebra and deeply confusing logic puzzles. With two new party members in tow (and some dark secrets about our old crew newly learned), the Exile heads back to the first of two locales originally visited by Revan and co. during KOTOR 1: Dantooine. The old Jedi Enclave lays in ruins from a Sith attack towards the end of the last war, and the newly emerging government finds itself needing to serve three factions: fearful farmers, bored mercenaries, and sneaky salvagers. And none of them are big fans of Jedi.  Also, we meet one of the biggest herbs in the galaxy. Anyway, that's not what's important. What's important is running between the same two maps four times so that we can solve a murder mystery.
