HomeNew Music Share Tweet We've got some new music from two of Ireland's finest techno producers's on one of Ireland's most promising new techno imprints, as Doug Cooney remixes Offtrack for Undivided. Doug Cooney provides a menacing peak-time remix of Offtrack's original, as the RLSD boss man lyes on shuffling rhythms and pulsating synth lines. Undivided was established in early 2021 by Dublin natives Amak & A PageOne, with a goal to showcase emerging local and international talent in electronic music. Together, the duo have created a stir with a series of underground events that have attracted a rapidly growing audience. Following on from the label's previously strong releases from FYuN & Jack Nolan in 2022, they now return with yet another massive Irish releases from Offtrack, with Doug Cooney on remix duties. The 4 track EP is stacked with quivering synth lines, syncopated rhythms and kaleidoscopic shuffling soundscapes. Today we have the pleasure of hosting Doug Cooney's remix. In recent years Doug has been burning the midnight oil in the studio, crafting high octane and distinctly function techno tracks. Cooney has recently signed records with respected labels such as Orbis, GND, Gynoid, EFR, Bastardo Electrico, N&N Records, Research & Orgone, alongside RLSD Records his own imprint laying a strong foundation for his future in music. His productions have received support from Dave Clarke, Amelie Lens, Ben Sims, Luke Slater, Rodhad, KR!Z, and Answer Code Request. Doug's tracks have also been been remixed by Aiken, Binny, Lee Holman and Dystopian Records Jon Hester, proving his calibre in the international arena. Doug's remix of Master Detune show's the RLSD boss man at his rawest and most uncompromising as he goes hell for leather with pounding rhythms and unapologetic synth work. He flips Offtrack's kickless original into a dance-floor devoted frenzy, as tough kick drums crash into jarring percussion, while spaced out hypnotic atmospheres glide across anarchic synth lines. This is hard-edged, peak-time techno at it's finest. For our first premiere of the week, we present a track from one of Ireland's leading and hardest working producers, Doug Cooney. The RLSD boss man is no stranger to knocking out prime techno cuts, and ‘Covalent' is no exception, as Doug channels classic dub techno auras with definitive 909 grooves. Doug Cooney lives and breathes techno within every facet of his life and has dedicated many years to the genres growth and wellbeing in Ireland. From setting up one of Ireland's best techno labels RLSD, to teaching in Bray Institute Of Further Education, alongside teaching his RLSD classes, to churning out proper techno 12 inches, there's few Irish DJs and producers that come close to Doug Cooney in terms of impact on the Irish techno scene. Doug Cooney also boast's being one of the most technically gifted DJs on the isle of Ireland. Meticulous attention to detail behind a set of turntables has seen Cooney share the booth with formidable techno figures such as Dave Clarke, James Ruskin, UVB, Mark Broom and more. Doug has a number of distinguished international gigs under his belt, with a debut at the fabled Tresor in Berlin, being the highlight. For Doug's next release he features on a colossal VA from Dutch techno connoisseurs, Frenzy. Frenzy welcomes the first Various Artist release on their newborn label, Frenzy Recordings. The VA contains 12 tracks handcrafted by 13 artists, both renowned and upcoming. Frenzy focuses on presenting the modern-day sound with roots of the old school, and that is exactly what this Various Artists stands for. Doug's contribution to the debut VA from Frenzy is an infectious dub influenced techno roller. Like many of Doug's great tracks, it's minimal, funky and effective, breathing the essence of techno. As the loop progresses it becomes more and more infectious. The finer details in the atmosphere and carefully orchestrated switches make this track so special. One of Doug's finest pieces of work in my humble opinion. Web: www.fourfourmag.com/ The Local Selection series returns to the techno capital of Ireland, Mullingar, as Mutate boss man Jay Carroll steps for an impressive 2 hour mix with an array of techno delights. Jay began DJing at ripe age of 16 and by 18 he was asked to be resident at Disco Nouveau, a long running underground club night in his hometown of Mullingar. Fast forward a couple of years and he was invited to be resident at Twelfth Planet until he decided to begin his own journey as an independent promoter. With a career spanning well over a deacde Jay has graced some of Irelands most iconic venues such as; Tripod, The Tivoli Theatre, The Twisted Pepper and more. The Twisted Pepper (now Wigwam) has been home to many of Jay's show's and provided cathartic techno experiences for many punters. Since 2013 Mutate Events has been focused on bringing quality techno to Dublin with such artists as; Jeroen Search, Roman Lindau, Lewis Fautzi, Stefan Vincent, Abstract Division, Tensal, Abdulla Rashim, Tripeo, Mama Snake, Volvox, Amotik, Jamaica Suk, Rune Bagge, Héctor Oaks, Silent Servant, UVB, Charlton, RIVET along with many, many more. You get the jist…Jay most definitely knows what he's at. Working alongside and garnering support from some of the longest running nights Ireland has to offer such as Jamie Behan's Bastardo Electrico, Subject, Life Festival & Research, he has given his all to promoting a vibrant underground scene for the capital. He has a bi-weekly radio show on Ireland's number one online radio station, alongside his residents, UNTHINK, Corner, Exit the Void & Niall Cleary on Dublin Digital Radio, where he showcases the best upcoming talent Ireland's techno scene has to offer. This mix offers a slice of what Jay is all about, an ensemble of techno of various sorts rolled into a warped two hour trip. Jay made a point of playing unreleased music from various Irish producers including Aero, Fyun, David O'neil, Offtrack and more. A smooth yet carnivorous trip around Jay's back catalogue leaves the listener on the edge of their seat, unsure of what gnarly turn the mix might take next. This is the techno equivalent of a page turner novel.

Doug Cooney has been one of the driving forces in Irish techno for a number of years now, both his productions and his DJ sets are marvelled around the country and further afield, receiving support from the likes of Bens Sims, Answer Code Request and Jon Hester. With previous releases on the likes of ORBIS, ORGONE, Research and his own RLSD imprint, we're delighted to see Doug's next EP was signed with none other than Bastardo Electrico, one of Irelands longest running labels/club-nights, headed up by Cork techno enthusiast Jamie Behan. Doug's Real//Sound imprint is more than just a label, it's also an independent music school for aspiring DJs and producers in Dublin, hosting workshops and showcases for those involved. We were lucky enough to pick up 'Higher Self' from his forthcoming 'Dark Stream' EP for a premiere. A deep, percussive track that channels the sound of old school techno with metallic riff that twist and turn while still maintaining a modern twist. The EP drops of Sunday, May 6th...
