Welcome to PsychEd, the psychiatry podcast for medical learners, by medical learners. This episode covers psychotherapy in youth with Dr. Laurence Katz, a professor of child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Manitoba. Dr. Katz received his medical and adult psychiatric training at the University of Manitoba and his child and adolescent psychiatry training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx N.Y. He is an adjunct scientist at the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy and has published numerous papers using the population health administrative database in mental health outcomes. He has held and been part of numerous grants funded by CIHR, PHAC, and other national funding agencies related to work with First Nations communities. Dr. Katz is widely published in particular in the areas of suicide and suicidal behaviour. His other research interests include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, pharmacoepidemiology, and implementation of complex interventions. NetherRealm Studios took to the stage at San Diego Comic Con in late July to announce content for the hotly anticipated Year 2 expansion of Mortal Kombat 1. Subtitled “Khaos Reigns,” the new expansion will feature additional story content and pick up in a world poisoned by chaos and anarchy thanks to Havik. Kombat Pack 2 has also been announced, and will include Noob Saibot, Sektor and Cyrax (both of whom are now female), as well as guest characters Ghostface, Conan and T-1000. As widely expected, Animalities also make a triumphant return to the series for the first time since their inception in 1995's Mortal Kombat 3. Yoeri Havik and Jan-Willem Van Schip won the Madison World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland this year in fine fashion. To watch the race you would have seen a master class in how to race a Madison from start to finish. This interview took place in the middle of the Copenhagen 3 Day. Havik is riding his new white Koga with his signature bars. He looks cool. We literally went through the Madison they won discussing tactics, their patience for moves, and keeping a cool head while under pressure. We discussed the Copenhagen race, his preps for the European Championships on the track coming up in January in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, and the Olympics to follow in Paris. Havik is in the full swing of the six day season.

Yoeri Havik comes from a cycling family. His uncle is the great six day Danny Stam. He started racing when he was nine years old. he raced all over Holland. He says he didn't really start to win until he was around 14 years old. By the time he was 16 he was racing with the Dutch national track team. At 17 Yoeri began training with his uncle Danny and travel internationally to race. Between the ages of 18-25 he focused on the road but the track was always lurking. Over the years Yoeri has won 24 national titles. He's even won a European Madison Championship with Jan-Willem Van Chip. And recently he won the points race at the world championships.In this episode Yoeri and I spoke about his training leading up to worlds, his big win and what's his next big goal.

We premiere a track from Sync resident and Galway based DJ and Producer, Fearghal Feely aka Havik today. The young producer has provided a Free Download, that is dripping in 90's tribal influences with a touch of modern power and plunging synth lines. Having previously experimented producing with a number of sub genres of techno from styles such as dark, industrial and ebm, Havik has always been drawn back to a raw, minimal, fast paced grooving style which sprung from the golden era of techno . After 3 or 4 years of producing and experimenting, the young DJ and producer finally found his style, taking inspiration from classic minimalistic techno, and squeezing forthright elements to their absolute most. “My style focuses on fast paced blitzing grooves , hypnotic synths and tight grooving low ends , there's something about keeping that fast pace on the dance floor but keeping it groovy that just resonates well with me.“ A lot of my inspiration comes from sounds of nature and creating deep grooving atmospheres from it, in which you will find in this track “echochant” which features wooden percussion , jungles noises and tribal chants. The track leans on the basic principle's of raw and driving techno, encompassing screw-face synth lines, billowing low end grooves and crisped funky percussion. Tribal chants and shrieks tie the track together, giving a jungle type atmosphere. This is an untamed techno tool for the heads. Because the complement system facilitates synaptic pruning, the C4 association has renewed interest in a hypothesis that excessive pruning contributes to schizophrenia pathogenesis. However, little is known about complement regulation in neural tissues or whether such regulation could be relevant to psychiatric illness. Intriguingly, common variation within CSMD1, which encodes a putative complement inhibitor, has consistently associated with schizophrenia at genome-wide significance. We found that Csmd1 is predominantly expressed in the brain by neurons, and is enriched at synapses; that human stem cell-derived neurons lacking CSMD1 are more vulnerable to complement deposition; and that mice lacking Csmd1 have increased brain complement activity, fewer synapses, aberrant complement-dependent development of a neural circuit, and synaptic elements that are preferentially engulfed by cultured microglia. Mieke Havik snelt in Saint-Denis met overmacht naar de eerste etappezege ooit in de Tour de France. Het is 1984 en de eerste Tour de France Féminin is begonnen. Havik krijgt het eerste geel om haar schouders en wint een dag later ook de tweede etappe. Maar als ze vijf dagen in het geel rijdt, barst de bom. Haar ploeggenoten zijn jaloers en Havik zwicht. De Muur Féminin '84 is een podcastserie over de eerste Tour de France voor vrouwen, in 1984. In drie afleveringen wordt de geschiedenis van de Tour de France Féminin 1984 verteld.
