Darling Cellars Black Granite Vintage Reserve 2022 Main variety: Shiraz vintage 2022 Analysis alc: 14.33 | ph: 3.52 | rs: 9.5 | ta: 5.58 Type: Red producer Darling Cellars Style: 0 Winemaker: Pieter-Niel Rossouw and Maggie Immelman Taste: Fruity Wine of Darling Body: Full Tasting notes: With its full-bodied character, smooth texture and luxurious taste, this wine is the epitome of refined indulgence. Meticulous craftmanship and carefully selected grapes, result in a wine with velvety tannins that create a sumptuous mouthfeel and lingers long after each sip. Cheers to boldness, smoothness, luxury and sheer deliciousness. Blend information: Shiraz, Cinsaut, Grenache, Mourvedre Food suggestions This full-bodied wine will pair well with darkly braised lamb, seared duck breast, oxtail potjie, venison pie and spicy dishes. In the vineyard: The grapes for our Black Granite Vintage Reserve come from dry-land bush vines rooted in our deep, dark coloured decomposed granite soils. The rich soil, warm summer days and the cool evening provided by the nearby Atlantic Ocean ensure optimal ripening and maximum fruitiness. In the cellar: The grapes are carefully selected and hand harvested when perfectly ripe. After a gentle pressing, the rich, velvety juice is crafted through fermentation into wine. To achieve the wine's full-bodied character, maturation takes place in a combination of French and American oak barrels and oak staves for 8-10 months. Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine is one of the loudest guitarists around. And he puts his volume to work creating mythical tones that have captured so many of our imaginations, including our special shoegaze correspondent, guitarist and pedal-maestro Andy Pitcher, who is our guest today. My Bloody Valentine has a short discography made up of just a few albums and EPs that span decades. Meticulous as he seems to be, Shields creates texture out of his layers of tracks and loops and fuzz throughout, creating a music that needs to be felt as much as it needs to be heard. We go to the ultimate source as Billy Corgan leaves us a message about how it felt to hear those sounds in the pre-internet days, when rather than pull up a YouTube clip, your imagination would have to guide you toward a tone. But not everyone is an MBV fan, so this conversation is part superfan hype and part debate. The meticulous planning, study, and documenting of the Gilgo cases. #RexHeuermann #ValerieMack #Gilgo4 #SandraCostilla #JessicaTaylor A Microsoft Word document with 87 disturbing details has come to light, shedding more insight into the alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer's organized plans for how to murder including supplies such as cat litter and tarps, dump site locations, recon reports, and body prep. This new evidence emerged as the district attorney's office charged Heuermann with two additional murders on Thursday. New digital evidence revealed Heuermann had a "significant collection of violent, bondage, and torture pornography" dating back to 1994, according to court records obtained by Newsweek. The images include breast mutilation, vaginal torture, the sexualization of decapitated women and bondage. These "notably and largely coincide with how the remains" of two of the victims were discovered in the decades-long search. A hard drive recovered from Heuermann's basement hosted a Microsoft Word document called "HK2002-04," which appears to be the alleged serial killer's "planning document," according to court documents. The Word document was recovered on March 7, according to District Attorney Raymond Tierney. (Newsweek)

Top-of-the-funnel lead-generation activities are a critical ingredient for a successful recruitment business. How do you strategize your lead generation to stand out in this age where all your competitors are probably doing the same thing you are doing?  We are really lucky to be joined in this episode by Jeremy Jensen, the founder and CEO of Encore Search Partners, the largest privately owned executive search firm based in Houston, Texas. Before starting his recruitment firm, Jeremy used to run a lead generation company for different businesses such as recruitment and search firms. You will hear Jeremy's insights and strategy on lead generation activities and how he transitioned into becoming the recruitment business owner of a $12M search firm.  Episode Outline and Highlights [01:50] How Jeremy got into recruiting. [05:36] Business milestones - Overcoming adversity, rebranding, and hiring someone with more technical expertise. [13:02] Why recruitment business owners should hire and do things with others. [25:49] How EOS (Entrepreneur Operating System) can impact your business. [35:25] Jeremy's insights on Lead Generation as a core strength. [45:10] Encore Search's seven core values. [53:38] What made Encore Search win Best Place to Work in the Houston Business Journal?   From a Lead Generation Firm to a Recruitment Business - Jeremy's Story   Jeremy's story on what led him to the recruitment industry is fascinating. He started a lead generation company in 2010 - and upon realizing that more than half of his client base was sourcing and staffing businesses, he transitioned into putting up his recruitment business. His claim to fame was in lead generation, where he was the main lead generator, regularly feeding senior recruiters with leads.    His business grew and was billing a million in the third year when market and economic difficulty struck. He had to make a pivotal decision whether to shut his business and be a full-time employee or to keep on going. You will hear how his decision to stay in business paid off, and how implementing strategies to go national and hiring other senior leaders contributed to their growth.    I think many of our listeners can relate to what Jeremy went through. Starting your own recruitment business is not easy - you can get to the point where you are making 100k to zero in a month. Jeremy's inspiring thought process and decision-making can inspire our recruitment firm owners who are going through the same ordeal.   The Pillars of Lead Generation   Jeremy's transition from a lead-generation specialist to a recruitment business owner shows us the critical role of top-of-the-funnel lead-generation activities in business success. He shared insights on what makes lead generation his key strength. Here are the two pillars:   Content - he emphasized the importance of proper story-telling. “Because if you can induce an emotion from your audience, that creates resonance. I don't think that our audience wants to see five tips on how to make your resume more marketable.” Email Marketing - he shared why it is important to utilize new tools and platforms to reach as many as possible. “And so we try to constantly look for new, innovative ways to steal market share.”   Digital Marketing - Hiring a digital marketing coordinator to enhance brand loyalty and utilizing various platforms can significantly increase community engagement and brand building.   Having Structure in Place Means Sustainable Growth   Jeremy is a subject matter expert on EOS - Entrepreneurial Operating System. We discussed how a clear and consistent structure contributed to their business growth. He also touched upon the value of embedding core values to overcome big challenges they had to face by the time their business was growing.    He shared how excellence, resilience, gratitude, professionalism, coachable attitude, meticulousness, and competitiveness are deeply ingrained in daily operations, fostering culture through practices like core value spotlights during meetings. He also talked about transparency, and how it made their company a Best Place to Work award recipient in the Houston Business Journal.    Our Sponsor   This podcast is proudly sponsored by i-intro    i-intro® is an end-to-end retained recruitment platform. Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for April 5, 2024 is: meticulous • muh-TIK-yuh-lus • adjective Something or someone described as meticulous shows extreme or excessive care in the consideration or treatment of details. // He is meticulous about keeping accurate records. See the entry > Examples: "In a press release, the company touts its meticulous approach to the sandwich's creation—testing pickles with eight variations of thickness and more than 10 bun recipes with six different bakeries." — Alicia Kelso, Forbes, 7 Jan. 2021 Did you know? We're afraid we have some strange etymological news: meticulous comes from the Latin word for "fearful"—metīculōsus—and ultimately from the Latin noun metus, meaning "fear." Although meticulous currently has no "fearful" meanings, it was originally used as a synonym of "frightened" and "timid." This sense had fallen into disuse by 1700, and in the 1800s meticulous acquired a new meaning of "overly and timidly careful" (possibly due to the influence of the French word méticuleux). This meaning in turn led to the current one of "painstakingly careful," with no connotations of fear at all. The newest use was controversial for a time, but it is now by far the most common meaning; even the most meticulous (or persnickety, depending on your view) among us consider it perfectly acceptable.
