Belleville Three: Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May和Juan Atkins那么,Juan Atkins和这两个未来的电子音乐传奇人物是如何走到一起的呢? 但最具代表性的要属《Alleys of Your Mind》和《Clear》。 其中一本书对我帮助最大,就是Richard推荐给我的,它叫《How To Make And Sell Your Own Record》。 3MB feat. 之后他还与底特律三杰——Derrick May、Kevin Saunderson、以及Dimitri Hegemann,Richie Hawtin和Jeff Mills 一起,出现在2022年的纪录片《God Said Give 'Em Drum Machines》中。 Track-List01.Cybotron - Hi everyone to a new episode of ESOA Podcast, and this time – I should mention this right away – we're venturing into territory beyond 160 BPM. It's Gabba time again. I reckon most of our older listeners first came across these hard styles back in the 90s – Hardcore and Gabba. And I think this style also has its place as a branch on our Electronic Music Tree. For this episode, I found two dear old friends who've agreed to put together a nice, hard-hitting set for us. Robert and Jan, aka The Gnat & Mad_line, are from Chemnitz. They've known each other since school days and gained their first musical experience at the former Kunstfabrik in Glösa. A memorable place where so many Chemnitz artists laid their foundations in the 90s. Having previously started out as solo artists – Robert, for example, under the name Violation – they have been performing together since 1999, beginning at their home venue, Club Achtermai in Chemnitz. Over the years, they have also played at venues such as Triebwerk in Dresden, Sky Club in Leipzig, Ndorphin Chemnitz or Tresor in Berlin. Their own productions and releases can be found under names such as Dropping Bomps, Hunted Souls or Never Burn Out on Hardrive Records. For all those who like this sound, enjoy the next two hours; to everyone else, we say: do give it a respectful listen. Here, exclusively for you The Gnat & Mad_line on ESOA Podcast 096. This episode kicks off our collaborative mini-series with Dance or Die on hardcore and what better way to start the whole thing than by talking to Holly Dicker aka Holly Dee. Holly is a music journalist and raver who has devoted over a decade to covering the history of hardcore while working for places like Resident Advisor, Boiler Room, Tresor and PRSPCT Records. Then she spent four years of blood, sweat and tears writing Dance or Die, a book that traces the history and evolution of hardcore electronic music. Holly and I talk about her formative experiences from renegade UK drum 'n' bass bunker raves to free tekno parties, breakcore squats and Dutch gabber mega-raves. We also discuss the cornerstones of hardcore, compare notes as rave journalists, discuss changing visual and surveillance culture and explore current women-led, queer and inclusive hardcore movements. Hosted by Vivian Host (aka DJ Star Eyes). For more info and extras, visit Ravetothegrave.org or Instagram @ravetothe.grave.

Jamie Anderson was born in London and raised in a musical environment, eventually relocating to Bristol in the mid 80's, where he continued training in improvisation with jazz pianist Dave Buxton for several years. Whilst performing in local bands and working in a Bristol record shop during the early 1990s, he developed a deep love for electronic music and turntablism, fusing elements of acid house, funk, Latin, and Detroit techno into his craft. In 1997, Anderson founded the label Artform, making his solo debut with the Prototype EP. In 2001, he released his first full-length album Blue Music on NRK, followed by the mix CD Nite:Life 013 and key tracks such as "Black Sun," "Player Hater," and "Rebel Sound." His productions and remixes also appeared on respected labels including Rotation, Cocoon, Fossil Archive, 100% Pure, and Flash Recordings. Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, Jamie Anderson became a fixture on the global DJ circuit, performing at major international events and building a devoted following for his energetic DJ sets and live performances. He collaborated with fellow artists such as Jerome, Dave Angel, Jesse Rose, K. Alexi, Lee Pattison, and Owain K-releasing standout singles like "Body Jackin" and "Cyclone," and refining his signature groove-driven sound. With his Artform Studio based in Berlin since 2014, Anderson continues to evolve his craft -collaborating with artists including Robert Owens, R.M.K., Daniel Haaksman and Florian Meindl on numerous high-quality studio productions. He remains active as a DJ, performing across Europe and around the globe. R.M.K hails from London, R.M.K is an exciting new project by Fossil Archive label head Roberto. It represents a faster and more intense take on his unique brand of Techno. He utilises his knowledge and past experiences, which include regularly playing at Berghain and Tresor in Berlin, as well as fabric in London, to develop his individual sound. During his 20+ year career in music, he has formed friendships and worked in partnership with other respected artists such as Trevino (Marcus Intalex), Jamie Anderson, Robert Owens, Goldie and Nastia. Although the focus is always on the very heart of the most raucous of raves, R.M.K never shies away from groove and funk. David Sumner, alias DMO, alias VEX, member of Regis' seminal Sandwell District collective, belongs to this category of legendary producers who withstood the test of time with durably impressive poise. The man behind some of Ostgut Ton, Tresor, Sandwell District, Stoor and his own imprint, Infrastructure New York's most enlightening releases, has been dishing out game-changing releases one after the other. Championing a sound that swings the pendulum between pure groove cerebrality and superior functionality, Sumner creates mixes like one weaves tapestries, mastering the warps and wefts of rhythmic entanglement and the mind's curious architecture like no other. Brace yourself for a wild, inspirational thriller of a mix.

We’re taking a moment to honor the blueprint of African jazz and resistance. On this episode of Afternoons with Zweli, we are joined in the studio by two of the most powerful voices in modern African music: the incomparable Zoë Modiga and the visionary Tresor. Both artists are part of a massive tribute to the legendary Bra Hugh Masekela, and they’re getting personal about the man behind the trumpet. From their very first memories of hearing "Stimela" to the direct impact Bra Hugh had on their own creative paths, we’re exploring what it means to carry his torch in 2026. We also get a sneak peek into their upcoming collaborations and how they are continuing to push the boundaries of African sound and culture. It’s a celebration of heritage, a lesson in history, and a look at the future of our sound. Spend weekday afternoons with Zweli. He keeps you in the loop with everything from music and movies to sport and pop culture. Actively pushing back the borders of techno language for the past fifteen years, German DJ and producer Thomas Hessler chose to relocate to Tbilisi, Georgia a few years ago and given the current state of the local scene, there is little wonder why. Tireless provider of equally hard-hitting and cerebral grooves that have taken him to play the best stages out there including Berghain, Fabric, Bassiani and Tresor, Hessler's name has become synonymous with stunt-filled, hi-octane sets and productions that operate in the gap between kevlar-coated payload, mind-bending loops and raging sub-bass drive. Expect a fiery, laser-precise deluge of ultra-dynamic psychedelia and rattling machine funk. No surrender.

But Dmitry's story goes far beyond 'Groove Is in the Heart', and this conversation goes all the way back to the beginning.Dmitry grew up in Soviet Ukraine as a third-generation musician. His grandmother — unable to afford a piano during the disruptions of the Russian Revolution, Civil War and World War Two — cut piano keys from paper so she could practise by hand. That love of music carried through the family, and Dmitry began lessons at five, was attending a conservatory music school by seven, and was already writing his own compositions in the style of Gershwin and Scott Joplin by eight.Western music was tightly controlled. Records could only be obtained on the black market — for around $50 each — and were copied onto reel-to-reel before being traded on. A track from Jesus Christ Superstar introduced him to something funky he couldn't yet name, and the search for that sound would shape the rest of his life.At 14, Dmitry and his family left the Soviet Union — the first in their town to do so, and treated as traitors for it. After periods in Austria and Italy, where he discovered punk (the Pistols, the Damned, X-Ray Spex, Iggy Pop), the family arrived in New York in 1978. On Halloween. In a Black neighbourhood in Brooklyn. Having never seen Black people before. From a 50-cent bin in a record shop, he picked up 'The Clones of Dr. Funkenstein' by Parliament because the cover looked insane. That was the moment. 'There it is,' he thought. 'That's the sound I've been looking for.' He's been a funkateer ever since.New York in the late 70s and early 80s was extraordinary — punk, disco, hip hop, and house all converging in the same sweaty rooms. Dmitry became an elevator operator at Danceteria, practising guitar in the lift between floors while Sisters of Mercy and the Sugar Hill Gang did soundchecks below. He ran into the pre-fame Beastie Boys regularly, worked at the Pyramid Club (run by drag queens, and a real education in showmanship), and played for Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash at block parties in Harlem and the Bronx.Dee-Lite formed as a direct attempt to bridge the gap between house and funk. They built a following through monthly shows drawing up to 1,500 people, which caught the attention of a Billboard writer and eventually sparked a label bidding war. They signed to Elektra — choosing them because their A&R, Nancy Jeffries, had signed Iggy Pop and Bjork, and that felt like the right kind of open-mindedness.Elektra didn't believe 'Groove Is in the Heart' had any traction. They let Dee-Lite do the video anyway, and Dmitry remembers the precise moment he knew it had crossed over: standing in a grocery store queue when it came on the radio and the cashier started dancing at her till. 'That's my jam,' she said. 'That's my jam.'Q-Tip turned up to the studio, listened for 15 minutes, jotted notes, and nailed it in two takes. Bootsy Collins casually mentioned he had 'some friends' who might be able to play horns — those friends were Fred Wesley and Maceo Parker, who arrived as near-strangers to each other after five years apart and immediately played like they'd never stopped.Their first proper gig with a full live band was in front of 300,000 people at Rock in Rio. The second album was recorded expensively in a big studio; Dmitry considers it their weakest. The third, Dewdrops in the Garden, went back to basics and home recording, and he's proud of how well it still sounds. The band broke up when Dmitry and Kier's relationship ended, and he eventually made his way to Berlin — partly drawn by its thriving club culture, partly pushed out of New York by Giuliani's crackdown on clubs. He played Tresor, won a Best Techno DJ award at Ibiza despite not really being a techno DJ, worked with Julie Cruz, remixed Chaka Khan and Ziggy Marley, and kept making music. Then during the pandemic, a friend sent him a vocalist called Jessie Evans. He sent her some dub tracks that had been sitting on his computer for years. She recorded them one by one, sending back a finished song every couple of days from Brazil — while caring for two young children. Before they had ever met on video, they had an album's worth of material. That project became Nauti Siren. She moved to Germany, they got married, and they now have around five albums' worth of music ready to release. The first, 'Rising', is out now. This is a remarkable conversation with someone who has lived inside the history of popular music for fifty years — and who still has plenty more to say.Find DJ Super Dmitry:Instagram: @superdjdmitryNauti Siren 'Rising' — out on Bandcamp and all streaming platformsOnce A DJThe podcast that looks at what brings us together and what sets us apart.

I sat down with Parisian‑born, Brussels‑based producer UFO95 to trace the line between brutalist architecture, Detroit machine soul, and live techno. From early days in punk bands and birthdays above his parents' club to a Tresor residency and a nerve‑tight Berghain performance, he unpacks how structure, space, and human error can turn a set into something physical. We dive into the design choices behind the new UFO95 album A Brutalist Dystopian Society Part 2: concrete‑solid kicks, saturated drones, and spacious pads that carry the grey, functional, futuristic mood of brutalism without ornament. He explains why half his shows remain improvised, how shrinking his hardware rig sharpened the energy, and what different cities teach him about pacing a room. Expect thoughtful nods to Underground Resistance, Jeff Mills, Surgeon, and Regis, reframed through a personal lens that swaps copycat nostalgia for living lineage. We also explore the craft behind the scenes: producing with the live arc in mind, writing twenty‑minute passages that breathe without a kick, and treating the club as a place to express, not excess. UFO95 talks candidly about resisting trends, favouring slow, minimal, and mental tracks while much of techno chases extremes, and why keeping protest and experimentation at the heart of the genre still matters. If you enjoy Lost and Sound and want to help keep it thriving, the best way to support the podcast is simple: subscribe, leave a rating, and write a quick review on your favourite podcast platform. Channeling the imposing physicality of brutalist concrete monoliths into that thing we call dystopian techno. The UFO95 flew over Brussels one night, With Absence Has Shape tucked under its light, Through brutalist towers so starkly imposing, Where concrete dreams lay decomposing. “Oh MORD!” cried the vessel, “Oh MORD!” it did say, “I'm bound for the club on the sixth of Febru-ay! With radiophonics both retro and keen, And dystopian grooves never before seen!” The Tresor did rumble, the Berghain did shake, As techno Tardises whirled in its wake, With low-end saturation and thunderous throb, It zipped and it zingled, it wobbled, it bobbed! Brussels-based electronic musician Killian Vaissade – better known as UFO95 – constructs brutalist sonic architecture from the ruins of utopian dreams. On “Absence Has Shape,” the second track from his forthcoming album A Brutalist Dystopian Society Part 2, the Tresor resident channels the imposing physicality of concrete monoliths into that thing we call dystopian techno. Brutalist structures as monuments to failed promises, their stark minimalism now haunting reminders of what never came to pass. Vaissade translates this visual language into dark, dramatic, stripped back essential techno. “Absence Has Shape” throbs with hypnotic tension, interlocking grooves and low-end density. Drawing inspiration from Function, Jeff Mills, Surgeon, and Sandwell District, UFO95' approach is “Moroder-meets-Mills” – melding retro radiophonics that address brutality in its many forms: war, repression, corruption. A Brutalist Dystopian Society Part 2 drops on February 6th via MORD on vinyl, download, and streaming. The album follows acclaimed releases on Tresor, WSNWG, and TSSRCT (which he co-runs with Hadone), cementing Vaissade's reputation as a masterful producer whose tracks cut through the noise. Vaissade doesn't DJ, opting for improvised live sets, a practice that's earned him a residency at Berlin's legendary Tresor and slots at Berghain, Berlin Atonal, and Bassiani. Catch him on tour throughout January and February, including upcoming dates at Berghain (Jan 10), Razzmatazz Barcelona (Jan 17), and Fuse Brussels (Jan 24), with stops across Europe and the Americas.

Great moody, almost electroclash esque analog gems. It's been interesting to see Rebotini's music come back around from the rave days through film scores to now without really changing much. No one does the nexus point of French House and EBM quite like him. 9 DJ Plant Texture - Life - Tresor RecordsThe first of two Tresor releases in my top 10, not sure what has been happening over there lately, but I'm here for it. A great weirdo techno 12 inch where opening track Repetitivo (Stretch Mix) sounding like Jeff Mills having eaten too many haribo, before mutating into scattered hats across the dancefloor, perhaps to trip up Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern who have broken into your house for some reason. 8 Autechre - Untilted - Warp Records Now to the first of two reissues in my list, and despite my somewhat negative thoughts as to their quote unquote live show I saw this year, I still love the music and this one in particular stuck out. Approachable but still properly mad. Proof that extreme computer music can be fun. 7 Clark - Steep Stims - Throttle Records I remember when Chris Clark came out with his first record and thinking that it too warp for warp records. I'm pretty sure we never met when I was in Berlin, unless I got him confused with Kid 606, in which case I apologize to you both. Anyway, Steep Stims is great, playful, emotional, one foot in the past and another in the future, really great work that I think will age really well. Solid work Mr Clark. 6 Emptyset - Dissever - Thrill Jockey Records Amazing new record from Emptyset, feels like they took all the lessons from all the later records and applied it to the earlier ones. Beautiful intense grinding drones, like someone built an installation of Sheer Hellish Miasma and I'm somehow in the room with it. 5 Merzbow, Iggor Cavalera, Eraldo Bernocchi - Nocturnal Rainforest - PAN Full disclosure, Iggor sent this to me, but it's been on my repeated listens ever since. Zen-like terror but incredibly dynamic. One of the best noise releases of the year and I'd go as far as to say a career highlight for each of the members. 4 Various Artists - 30 Years Sonic Groove - Sonic Groove Has it really been 30 years of Sonic Groove? Adam X compiles a collection of outstanding producers for this excellent collection of tracks. Highlights include the mutant acid of Bryan Zentz, the incomparable genius of Mike Parker and the industrial brutality of Statiqbloom. 3 Dopplereffekt - Metasymmetry - Tresor The second Tresor release on my list is the mighty Dopplereffekt. Beautiful, futuristic and unmistakably Detroit. Top 3 don't disagree! 2 Maria Somerville - Luster - 4AD Genuinely shocking to hear an artist on 4AD in 2025 that sounds like what an artist on 4AD sounds like in my head and it's great. Melancholic Ambient shoegaze for a new generation. 1 Coil - Black Antlers - Dais Records Black Antlers is not my favorite Coil album, but it is the one I least expected to be reissued as it was originally a tour only CDR that then got expanded. You could argue that it might not count as a proper Coil album, but who has time for these discussions. Some of the best music ever created. Nick (Disfigure; the one on the right in the pic) Favorites: Kommodus - A Foetal Wolf in Stained Glass - Probably my favorite release from Kommodus. Really awesome auxiliary instruments incorporated here and I like the unhinged melodic leads thrown in on a lot of the songs. It has a punkier tinge to it with the guitar tones and the vocals are equally as heavy Fellwinter - Dark Mediaeval Art - Pure riff-centric Judas Iscariot worship Magus Lord - In The Company of Champions - Epic in every way. I liked this better than the Lamp record this year but M has been writing fantastic black metal for a while and this side project is really refreshing to follow Ultimate Disaster - For Progress . . . - Perfectly written D-Beat in my opinion. Very tight songwriting and the riffs and solos are so well executed Valen - Viarum - I'm a huge Thangorodrim fan and this project has reminded me most of that. This was my go-to Dungeon Synth for some epic game nights this year Enceladus - Demo II - Another great release from this project. I love the half time parts, the more death metal sounding vocals, and just the ferocity of the songs while still being melodic Iron Firmament - Arcane Overspill - Amazing black metal from Washington, a state known for churning out amazing black metal for over two decades. I really love the production on this release, especially the interludes. This band writes amazing riffs and this has been a standout for me in their already exceptional discography Sharp Pins - Balloon Balloon Balloon - I love Power pop, I love Guided By Voices and Sharp Pins delivers on all fronts Occult Blood/Carrion Bloom - Battle Cries of Endless Night - Both sides of this split are fantastic. Put out by Wergild who can't miss lately with their bands/releases Utility - S/T - The hometown heroes! The whole release but especially the first song reminds me so much of Fired Up, one of my favorite CT hardcore bands of all time. Great songwriting and also absolutely on point with the energy and vocals. The demo before this is fantastic as well The Redscroll Podcast is a monthly show (first of the month going forward) that works as a companion to what we do at Redscroll Records in Wallingford, CT USA. Denise Rabe is a Berlin based DJ and producer. A true veteran selector, Rabe has commanded the booths of the most respected institutions, including Berghain, Tresor, Bassiani, cementing her reputation as an artist who creates worlds rather than just mixing tracks. Her studio output possesses an intoxicating depth and precision, with releases on the likes of Stroboscopic Artefacts, her own Rabe imprint and 30D Records, including her very recently released outstanding debut album ‘Transition' - a complex, high-fidelity deep space odyssey - essential listening. For this session, Rabe orchestrates a sonic narrative that exists in the liminal space between contrasting forces, effortlessly balancing the realm between darkness and light, melancholy and euphoria. The mix unfolds as a dark, hypnotic, and richly textured deep mind trip, where industrial rhythms are softened by depth and nuance. This is techno distilled to its primal core—raw, driving, and beautifully complex. Step into the abyss now. Congratulations are in store as the Italian imprint Pregnant Void marks their 20th release via a phenomenal LP from the Berlin based, Toxido Mask. With prior contributions on Semantica, Art Bei Ton, and Futurepast; the Tresor resident's latest offering titled ‘Spirit Waters' is a welcome addition and her first, furthering the label's commitment to contemporary music with an experimental edge. Coming in at eight tracks, six originals and two remixes by Ina Kacz, and Nadia Struiwigh respectively, the release maintains a transformative and introspective theme throughout as each track unfurls slowly and intentionally without pressure. Providing those moments of solitude and space to experience the surrounding sounds. Falling in the middle of the release, Spirit Guide is the beginning of the exhale to the inhale that is the first half of Spirit Waters. Listening from cover to cover, there's a subtle uplifting feeling in the first three tracks, the melodies ethereal, all channeling a sense of anticipation. Spirit Guide rises softly from the depths, its synths working overtime as they seemingly engulf and wash over the listener through the whole spectrum of frequencies. From the warmth of the low end to the spacey highs and glittering accents and tribalistic drum patterns, each element intertwines and works seamlessly with each other. Spirit Waters will be released on the 5th of December. @toxido-mask @pregnantvoid www.instagram.com/toxicmassk/ www.instagram.com/pregnant_void/ Write up by @huedj Follow us on social media: @itsdelayed linktr.ee/delayed www.delayed.nyc www.facebook.com/itsdelayed www.instagram.com/_____delayed www.youtube.com/@_____delayed Contact us: info@delayed.nyc

Fueled by passion, Dutch artist Vera Grace is steadily shaping her own space in Amsterdam's scene. Her sound continues to evolve, blending modular synthesis with hypnotic rhythms and deep mental trips that make you lose sense of time. She approaches DJing as a way to create something new through layering, while her productions focus on warped sound design. Her curiosity about modular synthesis opened a new dimension in her work. She started developing a fully live analog set and has recently begun performing with her modular system, constantly pushing her sound forward. Her most recent EPs, What Was Always There and Funktion Over Form, convey a clear essence in her sound. She moves fluidly between broken rhythms, ambient trips, psychedelic textures, and driving 4/4 tracks, all while staying true to the genre's roots. After graduating the Conservatorium of Amsterdam, Vera Grace is steadily forging her place in the scene, with performances at clubs like Radion, Grelle Forelle, Elysia, FVTVR, Tresor, and festivals such as Aquasella, Awakenings and DGTL already under her belt. Reka Zalan is a Berlin based DJ, who is deeply embedded in the DNA of Berlin's landscape - as a Tresor resident since 2023, a Hard Wax staffer and a member of the Coppi collective. She has laid down her powerful and psychedelic grooves at legendary institutions like Berghain, Vault Sessions, Fusion Festival, Ankali and more. The mix dives into the depths of atmospheric, cavernous techno before propelling into the expanse of hyperspace as it builds with speed and intensity. A consistent thread of dense psychedelia is seamlessly woven throughout the entire session - an odyssey for those deep cerebral synapses. The mix moves forward, outward, and inward, balancing tension and flow - a voyage of duality: it's both grounding and mind-bending, accelerating yet perfectly controlled. A complex, heads-down trip that perfectly showcases a master selector at work. Prepare for launch. Dive into deep space now. In the space where sound is stripped to its essential form, new worlds emerge. For our latest podcast, we welcome Hitam, an artist who operates as a true sonic architect, sculpting sound from its most granular elements. His work masterfully bridges the worlds of deep techno and avant-garde experimentalism, finding profound power not in overwhelming force, but in restrained intensity. The Amsterdam based producer's ultra finessed sounds have been released on the likes of Hayes, Somov, SYXT as well a string of exceptional recent releases on his own Rhiza Semar label. As a DJ he serves as a resident at the infamous Eerste Communie parties, as well as playing legendary institutions like Tresor, Bassiani, De School and more. “For this mix I wanted to trace a descent through shifting temporal layers; beginning in a state of suspension, slowly moving into trance-inducing motion before dissolving again into the subterranean. It travels from fluid, hypnotic rhythm into zones of disorientation and release; a process of acceleration, collapse, and renewal. Recorded as a continuous narrative rather than a set, it mirrors my current pull toward a landscape where ancient ritual and submerged hypnosis blend into an organic accelerated pulse where momentum and meditation intertwine beneath the surface.” Forget relentless peaks, this is techno that demands deep immersion, challenging yet deeply rewarding, a deep trip of tension and release on a microscopic level. A tale of masterfully executed cerebral hypnosis, told across two chapters of disintegration through terrains that feel simultaneously ancient and futuristic. A dialogue between soil and circuitry, pulse and void.
