Next up on the Local Selection, we welcome Ukiyo Lacuna resident IKIGAI3000 (aka Dylan Jones), who has provided a mind-bending recording for us today. His contribution is one filled with a fierce selection of energetic techno, scattered with dazzling moments of tension and release throughout. Although he is a relatively new artist in Ireland's techno scene, having just started DJing in late 2023, IKIGAI3000 has had a fairly action-packed time as a DJ and producer during this short period. He has played shows all over, spanning Galway, Drogheda and Dublin as well as international gigs further afield in Manchester, Freiburg and Berlin. This also includes appearances on Galway's Skin Sessions, Limerick's Shed Sets, as well as the Drogheda Groove Movement mix series. His productions have been received particularly well, with releases on Space Records and IC Trax and an abundance of SoundCloud self-releases. Additionally, he's garnered support from a range of notable artists that include Uberkikz, Dax J, Daria Kolosova, Grace Dahl and Alarico. It's clear to see that Dylan's progression as an artist will undoubtedly continue to rustle feathers amongst his peers if he continues to build on this fine level of output and consistency. IKIGAI3000's mix for the Local Selection is best described as a personal journey through sound. This recording in particular showcases where he currently finds himself on his path as an artist, seamlessly weaving through tracks that complement one another in effortless fashion. This track is one of the most recent works I've done that features on my upcoming project "The Other Side of Place". After coming back from Gottwood festival, I had mad inspiration. I knew I wanted a gritty, bassy track with a lot of emotion. and I think that runs through. I got deep into my sound design with this one so I hope its a pleasure to listen to. This week's entry to the Local Selection showcases Tipperary-born, now Belfast-based DJ, Laine to the series. This recording depicts Laine's cohesive and elegant mixing style, progressing eloquently throughout. Lock in for the next hour to hear this stunning mix, courtesy of the Reclaim The Mainframe resident. Laine has burst onto the Dublin dance circuit in recent years, encompassing a distinct style that is geared towards house music and its adjacent sub-genres. In doing so, she has earned the opportunity to play for a host of parties like Melodic, Lumo Club and Hidden Love, as well as venues across Dublin such as Tengu, Pawn Shop and Izakaya. Not to mention picking up a residency for one of Ireland's most exciting parties, Reclaim The Mainframe. These opportunities come as no surprise once you have gotten the chance to hear Laine play, as her library allows her to showcase a wide range of deep cuts right across the house spectrum. She has frequented DDR's airwaves on multiple occasions as part of Efa O Neill's Out of Space series, as well as showcasing a guest mix for prog-house aficionados Fuaim. Her expertise in the booth has seen her perform at Beyond The Pale as well as Fuinneamh, with another appearance at the Dundalk festival locked in this summer. Laine's Local Selection focuses on an array of low-slung chuggers, rooted in deep, murky territory. Keeping things moody, slick and rolling for the duration of the recording, Laine does a fantastic job at flexing this side of her musical palette while introducing glimpses of euphoria throughout. Interestingly, this mix is ideal for casual listening, though it is something you could envision hearing in a smoke-filled, dimly lit basement somewhere, too. The next entry to the Local Selection Mix Series welcomes Kildare-based DJ and producer Cian Fox. For this installment, Cian provides us with an hour of no nonsense techno. Ranging right across the spectrum from stripped back to driving cuts within the genre. Cian Fox has begun to spark attention among the local and international dance scenes in recent years, with the 20 year old earning a slot on the acclaimed live-streaming platform Pattern Berlin, while garnering support slots for Dylan Fogarty, Jon10 and Puzzy Wrangler within a relatively short period. This success has led him to play for some exciting local parties such as The Shed Residents, Crush and Oblivion. These opportunities without a doubt, are linked to Cian's fine discography that he has built. Releasing multiple EPs on his SoundCloud, along with releases on Blurr, Fast Dogs and U-Traxx, has allowed him to express his vision for techno, while connecting with like-minded listeners. In particular, he has received notable support from Reformist and Remco Beekwilder, who has given his productions the seal of approval from playing at various gigs and radio shows. This mix further outlines his idea of techno, one that is rooted in the past that also takes aim at the future. Elegantly curated and mixed, this is an exceptional recording for any avid techno connoisseur. Even more so for an artist who is at the beginning of what could very well be a long and exciting journey in dance music. The Local Selection returns after a few weeks off, with deni_sova of Nocturnal Animals kicking things off with a mix weaving over house, electro, disco, rave, and more, demonstrating the breadth of her sound palette in a seamless hour mix. cable.percussion (Johnny McDowell) is a Dublin-based electronic music producer specialising in hardware-produced acid electronica. Active since early 2023, he is known for his energetic live performances and his unique style of psychological electronic music. His music is brimming with playful melodies and otherworldly acid basslines over frenetic and often aggressive beats that defy the listener to figure out its genre. Not afraid to experiment with different styles, his sound is forward-thinking, eclectic and unpredictable, but consistently held together by his signature brain-wiggling acid sounds and pummeling breaks-infused drum patterns. cable.percussion independently released his debut EP 'C.PERC' in August 2023, shortly after his debut live performance. A recent feature on our “Mix Of The Week” series further cemented her as one to watch, showcasing an hour of precise blends, leftfield selections and confident pacing that speaks to a deep understanding of dance floor dynamics. Her contribution to the Local Selection series is a brisk, high-impact ride through party-driven sounds, anchored in the housier edges of the techno cannon. 'A Break From The Psychic Torment' encapsulates a lot about our collaborative, and somewhat contradictory, approach to making dance music together - it's wonky sound design meets joyous hooks and grooves. Basically, we take the fun seriously, because creating art designed for cathartic release in such challenging times requires commitment to joy. Both 'Ooh Sorbet' and 'Prego' are designed for dark rooms and late nights, but began life in the bucolic woods behind Zo's then-home in upstate New York, with us both rooting through the undergrowth and recording the sounds of stick hitting rock, or twig thwacking bottle, all of which became the percussive building blocks behind the tracks. Again, this was definitely a fun process - but more importantly, it gave these tracks a unique sonic identity. 'Sorbet' works around an almost Todd Edwards style cut-up of a vocal, while 'Prego' builds to a breakdown made from another field recording, this time from a park in Beijing. 'Panda Beef' and 'Let's Giggle' were both languishing on Zo's hard drive, clearly sick ideas but just not quite gelling into cohesive tracks. Between marathon bouts of 'Alone' and essential trips to the bakery in Woodstock for almond croissants, we reworked and fashioned them into something much closer to finished products. Mexican vocalist Sirius Soundz sent over some raw vocals, which we chopped up over the slightly Dembow-feeling beat of 'Panda'; an extra layer of Dance Mania-style bleeps brought out the cheeky wink lurking above the bassline of 'Giggle'; and a final session back in Binga's studio in Bristol locked everything in place. And finally, the dog in the artwork is the ultimate Executive Producer behind the whole project, Sadie, who is a very good dog indeed.

ELLS supplies a steamrolling hour of techno for Local Selection 262. Emerging onto the scene in 2023, Ellen has quickly made a name for herself in Ireland's techno circuit. Cutting her teeth in venues such as Index, Centre Point, Wigwam, The Academy, and The Soundhouse—she's built a reputation for high-energy sets that blur the lines between hardgroove, trance, and classic techno. Having shared the stage with acts like Clouds, IMNOTYOURMATE, Veseli, and Black Traffic, the young DJ has been cementing her name as a trusted warm-up DJ, but her reach extends beyond Ireland, with international appearances in Bordeaux, France. Currently enjoying the sounds of Dylan Fogarty, Cult, and X Club, Ellen doesn't like to pigeonhole herself to a sound when DJing. “I don't think there's a specific genre I focus on—I love going to different gigs and taking inspiration from different bits of sets,” she says. DMF is proud to present the K-llab series, a new collaboration project where label head Kerrie partners with some of her favourite artists. The debut release in the series features an original track and a remix by each artist, offering a fresh take on both the sounds and creative processes of each collaboration. K-llab-01 sees Kerrie teaming up with Italian duo Dynamic Forces, known for their heavy, old school leaning, industrial-influenced techno. Playing a host of shows around the country as well as earning his first international gig in Bristol last year. Not to mention a residency on Subtle Radio which takes place every 2nd Friday monthly, along with a number of releases on Southpoint, Diamond Hand Records, Choki Biki and more where he has broadcast a plethora of bass-infused, club-focused cuts. In addition to his work in the studio, STITCH has built a reputation for his energetic DJ sets combined with his seamless mixing, having captivated audiences at renowned venues and underground parties garnering support slots for MJ Cole with AMPM, alongside upcoming support slots for High Fidelity with Incognito & Miley Serious with Equinox. The DOLLHAUS founder has provided us with a highly energetic recording which captivates her distinct approach to techno. Taurean's work with Dollhaus has shown that she is a fierce advocate for supporting FLINTA DJs and producers. She has done so by providing them with a platform to express themselves and provide a space for a vast amount of artists to flourish since the inception of Dollhaus. This This mix is a fantastic display of Taurean's vast discography, as she toggles between a range of driving and emotive cuts throughout. Over the hour-long recording, you can expect to hear elements of meddling percussion, fused with brimming basslines that weave everything together.
