Have you ever met someone that seemed to be happy when it didn't make any sense? Or even though they were sad, there was a calm control about them? The Bible talks about a joy that goes beyond our circumstances. This joy is rooted in none other than the Godhead. It is a joy found in the person of Jesus, in His life, death, and resurrection, and built up in us through our time in the presence of His Holy Spirit. So if you want to be the sort of person that seems to be in good spirits no matter what, it starts with time spent with THE Spirit of God. Be encouraged, step into praise, prayer, and meditation on Scripture and grow in Joy and you enjoy God's Christmas Presence.

Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle (Exodus 40:34). On Christmas Day, many churches will read the Christmas story from one of the Gospels as well as a section of the book of Exodus. On the surface, it sounds like an odd pairing. Most people will say that spending time with people who matter is up there in terms of priorities, especially at Christmas. So why is there such a focus on buying something for your class? I don't think we need to buy gifts for our students - instead we should prioritise "presence". In this show I reflect on the power of spending quality time with our students, the benefits this has for engagement and also how it can support wellbeing.

Are you trusting God's word or relying on your own understanding? In the new series 'Christmas Presence,' we look at the lives of key figures from the original Christmas story, starting with Zechariah. Zechariah, a priest, and his wife Elizabeth longed for a child but were unable to conceive. An angel visited Zechariah, announcing that Elizabeth would bear a son named John, who would prepare the way for Jesus. Despite this miraculous message, Zechariah doubted due to their old age and was rendered mute until John's birth. This story highlights the importance of trusting God's word and the consequences of doubt. Zechariah's journey teaches us that obedience to God's word amplifies our influence, while doubt can silence it. As we prepare for Christmas, let us commit to trusting God's word and walking in obedience, experiencing His presence and influence in our lives.

As we finish our study in the book of John today, we are also celebrating Christmas.  We didn't plan it this way, but they both begin and end with the exact same point and purpose.  Until we can apply the simple fact that God can be with us, both the book and the holiday are just two more symbols of another dead religion that leaves us disappointed and frustrated with a God who doesn't come through for us.
