Revisting Cooking Up Courage — Chef Devin Finigan of Aragosta at Goose Cove

We're re-airing one of our favorite conversations: Season 4 guest Devin Finigan, chef and owner of Aragosta at Goose Cove in Maine. Since we first spoke with Devin, Food & Wine named Aragosta the #1 hotel for food and drink in the country, and her cookbook, A Kitchen on Goose Cove: Recipes from the Heart of Maine, has officially been released. This episode also holds special meaning for me, as I open up the episode with a tribute to my late mother, Sadie B — a lifelong food lover whose recipes, generosity, and "never let anyone leave hungry" spirit set the stage for a conversation with a guest who embodies that same philosophy through her cooking. Devin never went to culinary school. She dropped out of art school, followed her instincts, signed a restaurant lease she couldn't really afford, and built Aragosta into an award-winning destination — all while staying true to her own vision. If you've ever wondered what it looks like to take the unconventional path and make it work, this is the episode for you. Manifesto Connections “The riskiest thing you can do is play it safe” — leaving art school and signing her first restaurant lease on a handshake. “There is more than one right way in life” — no culinary school, no traditional path, and it worked anyway. “Constraints are opportunities” — building Goose Cove on a tight budget by leaning on local artisans, potters, and woodworkers.   Calls to Action Learn more about Aragosta at Goose Cove or make a reservation: aragostamain.com Follow Aragosta on Instagram: @aragosta.main Support our sponsor: Interabang Books — interabangbooks.com Watch Tricia's TEDx talk, “How I Redeemed 35 Years of Regret” — TriciaRoseBurt.com or https://youtu.be/KpMSGApoLKE?si=3-u3CaywtoWcKXIm Credits No Time to Be Timid is written and produced by Tricia Rose Burt. Healing After Suicide Loss: Breaking the Silence That Keeps Survivors Stuck | Jayne Madigan EP |

Grief 2 Growth

When someone passes by suicide, the casseroles don't come. Neither do the cards or the phone calls. Jayne Madigan's sister lives in a neighborhood with a meal train for every birth and every death. When her 24-year-old son Brandon passed, she got nothing. That silence is its own second loss, and it's what this conversation is about.Jayne has been living inside suicide loss for 33 years. Her uncle Ray, who was also her godfather and the closest thing she had to a father, passed on New Year's Day in 1992. He was 47. Her family was raised Catholic and told not to say how he died. He couldn't be buried in the cemetery with everyone else.Jayne said it anyway. She has never been ashamed of any of them. She thought she'd done her time. Then in 2022 came the call about Brandon, her nephew and godson. Then Brandon's best friend, a year to the day. Then her brother, two years after that.Five years after her uncle passed, Jayne was diagnosed with lupus and told she wouldn't live past 50. She was a young mother of two and disabled for two years. She traces that diagnosis directly to grief her body was carrying because her mouth wasn't allowed to. So she went looking for tools that talk therapy couldn't reach, back when that meant encyclopedias and library trips. She found them. Today she takes no medication at all, and she teaches those tools to survivors around the world. What we cover

A 360-degree review told Tyler Chisholm exactly what was wrong with his leadership: he filled every room, jumped to conclusions, and never let his team finish a sentence. His team had stopped contributing. They were just waiting to be told what to do. In this episode of The Executive Commute, Jayson Krause talks with Tyler Chisholm, CEO and author of Curious as Hell, about the moment that feedback forced him to rebuild how he leads. Tyler unpacks the difference between the leader he was in the boardroom and the host he'd become on his own podcast, and how closing that gap turned curiosity from a personality trait into a daily discipline. They get into where curiosity actually helps, where it gets weaponized into control, and what it takes to build a team that feels safe enough to think out loud. They cover: The feedback that forced a leadership reset Curiosity as a practice, not a trait: self, relational, and strategic curiosity How questions get weaponized to control instead of learning Where curiosity fails (and command and control takes over) A simple tool for pausing before you react What actually predicts whether a leader succeeds or fails If your meetings go quiet the moment you start talking, this one's worth the full hour. Turns out even professional athletes know playing it safe is the real risk. Today, hard rock legends NIGHT RANGER are proud to unveil their newly remastered version of their 1983 single, "(You Can Still) Rock in America (2026)," taken from their upcoming ‘Best Of' album, set for release on August 28th via Frontiers Music Srl. The new single arrives alongside an official video, available below.  'Best Of' features newly remixed & remastered versions of classic hits spanning NIGHTRANGER's illustrious career, alongside some standout tracks from the band's more recent releases. The album will be released on both CD and Vinyl. The double LP is available in 3 different colors: black, gold, & orange splatter.Few bands have defined the sound of American melodic rock quite like NIGHT RANGER. From the soaring anthem of “Sister Christian” to the thunderous riffs of “Don't Tell Me You Love Me," and fan favorites like “You Can Still) Rock in America” this album's ‘Best Of' collection captures the very essence of their decades-long career — now refreshed for 2026. Featuring the classic hits alongside standout tracks from their more recent albums, this compilation spans the full spectrum of NIGHT RANGER's signature sound: anthemic choruses, blazing guitar solos, and unforgettable melodies. Highlights include the power-pop perfection of “(You Can Still) Rock in America,” the heartfelt balladry of “When You Close Your Eyes,” and the cinematic sweep of “Four in the Morning.” But the ‘Best Of' is not just a look back. It also celebrates the band's creative output over the last 20 years, spotlighting tracks like “Time of Our Lives,” “High Road,” “No Time to Lose,” “Somehow Someway,” and “Truth,” proving that NIGHT RANGER's energy, songwriting, and musicianship have only grown stronger with time. These songs show that the band continues to innovate while staying true to the melodic rock roots that made them legendary. The band — Jack Blades (bass and vocals), Kelly Keagy (drums and vocals), Brad Gillis (guitars), Eric Levy (keyboards), and Keri Kelli (guitars) — delivers every track with the energy and precision that have kept NIGHT RANGER at the forefront of rock for more than four decades.

Tricia shares how she moved from the corporate world into art school, live performance, The Moth, and a life built around storytelling. She also breaks down her process for shaping personal stories out loud, finding the emotional change inside an experience, and turning a funny anecdote into something meaningful. And near the end of the conversation, Tricia tells an unforgettable story about saying goodbye to her mother by bringing her ashes home to the University of Tennessee. It is funny, poignant, deeply human, and a beautiful masterclass in how personal storytelling works when something inside the storyteller changes. *Learn more about Tricia and No Time to be Timid Partner with Storytelling University: reach a global audience of thoughtful, highly engaged listeners across generations, from parents and professionals to creators, leaders, and lifelong learners, all connected by a deep appreciation for powerful stories, meaningful ideas, and human connection. Reach out to us for exclusive sponsorship opportunities TSU Team: Created & Hosted by: Aaron Calafato Produced and Edited by: Brooks Borden Guest Coordinator: Dania Khalife Love 7MS & TSU? “Send Coach John a message”I came across a gem today that I needed (of course I need it, why else would I connect with it.)  When these reminders come across my radar - it's so important for me to grab them, use them, and share them.  This is from Coach the Coaches (@WinningCoaches ) and the treasure they shared is this:  “Let me give so much time to the improvement of myself that I shall have no time to criticize others.” – John Wooden.  Of course it is from one of the greatest teachers of all time. This gets me fired up to keep looking for the gems I try and find every day to keep getting better and to stop wasting my time judging others, criticizing, condemning and complaining. Wow.. those things bring me down so much… and I need to look for ways to stop making those choices for sure. How about you? I'd love to hear some of your thoughts and ideas as to how you keep striving to improve yourself for the life that you want to build. What does Bruce Springsteen have to do with the No Time to Be Timid Manifesto? Everything. I recently caught Bruce live at TD Garden in Boston—from the second to last row—and couldn't stop thinking about how his 50-year career checks off principle after principle from the manifesto. From singing for three hours straight at 76 years old, to speaking truth to power since the 1980s, to calling an entire arena to be their best selves, Bruce Springsteen is a masterclass in creative courage. This one's personal, it's energizing, and it just might make you want to blast Badlands on your next long drive. --- In This Episode - What it felt like to be in the very back of TD Garden (and end up on the big screen) - How Bruce checks off three key principles from the No Time to Be Timid Manifesto: - Creativity is not a frivolous pursuit — 50+ years of music, storytelling, and human connection   - The riskiest thing you can do is play it safe — speaking against injustice and power since the 1980s without worrying about who he alienates   - There is courage in community — what it looks like when an artist calls an entire arena to rise up together - Why 76 years old and three hours nonstop is the ultimate "no excuses" reminder --- Manifesto Principles Featured in This Episode #1 — The riskiest thing you can do is play it safe #4 — Creativity is not a frivolous pursuit #9 — There is courage in community Download the free No Time to Be Timid Manifesto: [www.triciaroseburt.com/manifesto](https://www.triciaroseburt.com/manifesto) ---   Website: [www.triciaroseburt.com](https://www.triciaroseburt.com)   YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@triciaroseburt   Follow along: @triciaroseburt   Questions? podcast@triciaroseburt.com ---   Enjoying the Podcast? How often do you finally realize what you want to say hours, days, months, or even years after a misunderstanding or disagreement? Some people need time to process, but it's easy to think you've missed your chance once the moment has passed. Learning how to have hard conversations has changed my life more than almost anything else, and I've noticed a rule many of us follow without ever questioning it: after enough time passes, you're no longer allowed to bring something up. In this episode, I'm unpacking where that rule came from, who it benefits, and the rule I've replaced it with so more women can stop carrying unresolved hurt alone and start saying what they need to say. What if the most powerful tool to change your life has been right under your nose this whole time — literally? This guest spent his twenties as a high-stress TV producer in New York. On paper, life looked great. Inside, he felt empty and burned out. Getting fired became his turning point. Yoga, meditation, and breathwork pulled him out, and he built a career leading wellness retreats around the world. Now in his 40s, he shares an honest story about change. After a serious back injury forced him to stop teaching yoga, he had to slow down, heal, and rethink everything. He talks about dropping his "masks," saying no to what no longer serves him, and treating your time and energy like a careful investment. His big message is simple: real change starts inside you. Feeling safe in your own body comes first. The breath is the doorway. You don't need apps or gadgets — just a few quiet minutes a day.He also explains why you can't force others to change, and why even difficult people teach us something. Switched on Pop
Hrishikesh Hirway made an album about running out of time — in no time

Hrishikesh Hirway, host of Song Exploder, returns with his first album in fifteen years, In the Last Hour of Light, made under a premise that's almost contradictory for a podcaster built around isolated stems: session players who had never heard the songs, vocals tracked live in the room, no click track, and no overdubs.  The layered style that defines current pop production is itself a relatively recent development. Hirway's record  reaches back to the older live-tracking tradition that shaped the 1950s and 60s Bollywood recordings he grew up listening to in his parents' house. The album is about memory and so it's appropriate that the music is recorded whole  in all its beautiful imperfections.
