This CPA Exam podcast covers: July 2022 CPA Exam changesErin (DOJO) Currently I am hammering out MCQs. I did poorly on the SIMS but did not feel like any of the practice SIMS I did with (CPA Review course) set me up to succeed. Gary (DOJO) I took auditing 5 times 68,70,71,74,71. I am losing my mind. I do not know what I am doing wrong. I think the simulations are the issue and tricky mcq. Of the four sections in the audit exam, I tend to do better on parts 1 and 4. Part 2 and 3 I will try to buckle down some more. It is a hit or miss for me. (NINJA Only, Becker + NINJA, Gleim + NINJA) Thuy (DOJO) I would like to know if I can listen to the Ninja audio while working, without having reading the book or the notes. For the intense note-taking while reading the book or listening to the audio, instead of taking my own notes, can I just rewrite the Ninja notes? (Becker + NINJA) Francis (DOJO) Are there SIMS/TBS for the AUD section? (Becker + NINJA) Matthew (DOJO) I just got my score report and got a 74 and I need to pass audit soon was wondering if you could help me. (Surgent + NINJA) Lee Anne (DOJO) I have taken the BEC about 7 times and cannot pass the exam. I feel good about the exam but clearly not doing well. I have been studying for the exam for about 2 years. I am currently now just focusing on MCQs and the ninja cram sessions. Would love feedback on what I can do to pass! In the last test I took I received was a 70 which is 2 points up from the last exams. (Becker + NINJA) Kristin (DOJO) I have ADHD and I have been struggling with the lack of structure/routine for what I need to be doing each day to study with the Becker software. I have pushed my exam back multiple times already and all my friends taking the exam have already moved past me- any daily tasks/ study routine recommendations to prepare for FAR would be immensely helpful as I just feel so overwhelmed I don't know where to start. (Becker + NINJA)
Starting things off with Krishma. Jeff, I'm studying for my third FAR attempt. My previous scores were 70 and 68. I'm planning to take my exam three weeks from now. Please tell me how I should start and what I should focus on. If your exam is three weeks from now and you're just starting and you're just starting FAR, unless you are studying full time, then you really need to probably push it back. But let's assume that you had a full. Plan. So with the 70 and 68, you're getting there, but there's a significant hole in your steady game. And so essentially you need to follow the NINJA study framework. Just forget this avenue, forget this 68, just mentally start over and just go through the FAR material. Nailed the FAR concepts and take notes while you're doing it. So it doesn't say what course you're using. Presumably NINJA. But the concepts either with your NINJA book or NINJA sparring and lectures start expiring lectures or the lectures for whatever CPA Review course you're using. If you prefer that, then switch over to NINJA and take notes the entire time that switch over to NINJA MCQ and spend about two weeks on that. So you spend about two weeks on the concepts about two weeks, and then MCQ. Take notes over at all. Then you spend about a week writing your notes and then a week doing your final review. Part of that should be the NINJA FAR cram. And but with three weeks out and you're just starting, I think you need to push your exam.

Get it on iTunes. Chris - Im taking FAR. I have completed all of the lectures and some of the assigned MCQs from my CPA Review course. I was wondering if you had any advice in terms what to focus on. My strategy from this point is to just do as many MCQs as I can. I also have a cram course which I will probably do in early April as tax season dies down. Emily - I sat for FAR exam and failed, but I did add 9 points to my score by following your ELL system and writing and rewriting my notes. I feel that I now have my review material memorized. I made a 68 on the exam and thought that the simulations were what killed my grade. I am thinking about just doing all of the Wiley test bank questions and simulations. I will only watch the videos if I have a trouble area. Do you think this is the best way to proceed? John - I have been trying to pass the CPA exam for over 2 years with little success. I am considering trying a new CPA review course to hopefully get me over the hump. What are your recommendations on how to pick a review course? Kendall - I failed FAR by one point! I studied using 2011 CPA Study materials but now it's 2012. Should I keep studying using my 2011 materials and hope it'll be enough to get me over the hump or buy new 2012 materials? Also, how much time to I give myself to prepare? I only took the exam at the end of the FEB testing window, so it's still fairly fresh. Ron - After three tries at FAR and no passing, I am very disappointed and want to give up. I read your journey and was inspired, but at this point I'm thinking it's not going to happen for me. Will you please advise on how to move on after three failed tries? Karen - My BEC expires on May 31, 2012. Can I take my last exam on May 31 without losing credit or would I have to take it before that day? Romi - I just passed my last exam and your information had much to do with that. Do you have any information on the ethics exam? Asad - I am just starting my CPA journey and I am wondering if there any materials for studying the Ethics and Governance Segments? Is there a test bank so I can practice more questions?

I anticipate it starting to roll out next Monday, September 19th so that's something that we all have to look forward to. All right. On today's show, we have several questions. You can ask me your questions and I will answer them on this podcast. Go to another 70 one.com. And in the upper right-hand corner, click ask Jeff, and that's all you have to do. All right. And also you can go to facebook.com/another 71 I believe we passed 8,000 people on Facebook over the weekend, which I greatly thank you for. All right. First question is from Michael and. He has questions about the Wiley test bank. I am an official reseller of Wiley test bank pins, which means that you can buy the test bank pins from me for their online software at a significant discount over the retail price at wiley.com. Jeff, I have several questions about the Wiley regulation software and your store, and that store is@anotherseventyone.com if I purchase it from your site, will it be the same as purchasing from wiley site directly? Will I get the same material? The answer is yes. Also, is it a one-year subscription or a four-month subscription? I only resell the one-year subscription and it's because the difference in price was pretty negligible and. I didn't want people to be in a position where they bought software and then they find out that they failed their exam and then, oops, their software has expired. So I only resell the one-year pins. Lastly, when I purchase will I, will I get the activation code via email? Yes. You, after you purchase it, you email me@jeffatanotherseventyone.com and ask for your pin and I will send it to you and hopefully, I get an automated system up soon where I can wear them, the unique pins just get automatically sent to you from the list. Right now I have to manually send them to you and the turnaround on those is usually very quick. Right question is from Priyanka. Jeff, I need to know if it makes a difference in the exam. If you apply from a certain board of accountancy. I've passed the exam from Delaware. My friends are taking the exam from California. I'm hearing that the chances of passing from Delaware are higher compared to the California board. Is this true? I know that the eligibility criteria to sit for the exam differ in these two different States. But after putting so much effort when I'm told it's easier to pass them, Delaware feels like a slap on the face. Wait my facts. Right. Well, you're correct that the. That the CPA test requirements to sit for the CPA exam might be different in those two States, Delaware and California. However, it is a uniform exam, which means that the person in California who passed it had the exact same type of exam. As the person sitting in Delaware, maybe, maybe your, your testlets were a little bit different, but that all depends on how you were performing during the actual exam. But your chance of passing and once they or the other is exactly the same. It is a uniform exam and so there's nothing to worry about there. Jeff, I'm planning to sit, and this is from Chris Jeff. I'm planning to complete the CPA exam this coming January. I have a BS in accounting with 124 hours. What would you suggest the next step to get my 150 hours MBA Mac or something else? I've been in the private industry for 20 years. At some point in my career, I'd like to get into public accounting and know it sounds backward.
What is CPA Exam (and How Many CPA Exam Parts?) | Another71 Podcast #1 It runs approx. 30 minutes. I cover 10 or so questions from readers...study tips, motivation, etc. It's version 1.0 ... I welcome your feedback :) Welcome to the CPA Review this podcast of another71 and it's official because it's the first and it's the one and only, right? So I get a lot of emails. I would say I get hundreds of emails a month from people who. Are you looking for help? Who knows that I used to be in the same situation. So they're looking for insight on studying exam scheduling, how to, how to pick a review course, you name it. So I thought it was time to start a podcast because that's pretty much what you do, right? He started a podcast. So anyway. So today is Wednesday, September 7th, and I hope everyone had a great labor day weekend. you know, normally for a holiday, you were supposed to take it easy maybe. But, labor day weekend was just that I was manual labor, on Saturday. I actually had. I had a good day. You know, as a parent, you maybe do things with your younger children that you wouldn't have done with your older children when you were a new parent, for instance. I have five kids and, and they were all with my wife, by the way, and I'm not, not Catholic, not Mormon. So I get asked those questions. and so as a new parent, I would not have taken a three and a half month old to a college football game, but you know what, baby number five. It was time to go. So we took my eight-year-old, six years old and my three and a half year old and packed up for the promised land, which is Manhattan, Kansas, in case you didn't know for K state football game. My wife and I have a book, K state alarms. And I used to go to almost all of the games and once parenting hit, I maybe make it to two a year. So. That was a new experience taking a three and a half-month-old to a football game. It kind of puts a new spin on, on tailgating, you know, when you have to haul around the diaper bag. So, and, you know, then, Sunday I spent a good five hours, trimming around my mother-in-law's property and, and then Monday, labor day, I. Renting a power washer, which I've never done, and I power washed my deck, which as it turns out, was long overdue. So basically, let's, let's get started. I get, I get a lot of questions and I know some of you have very similar questions. First question is from Kim. Jeff, this is, this was my third time to sit for my exam this year. And unfortunately, I felt the same about the simulations as I did before. I used my time more efficiently though, and I'm hoping that maybe I managed to get a 75 this time. I know this feeling of uncertainty is very common, but would you recommend that I move on to the next section, which is fir financial. Kim didn't mention what CPA Exam she took. But you know when you sit for an exam and whether or not you feel good or bad, that exam is done and while you're waiting for your score, you could spend the next, well, sometimes you spend the next like eight weeks waiting for a score depending on when you take it in the window. But you can spend that time anxiously second-guessing yourself or you can decide, okay, that exam is done. I'm going to focus on the next exam. And let's say you have to wait three weeks for your score and it comes back that you failed. I mean, What is CPA Exam life without a little failure. Well, you can decide then if you want to jump back in and take that exam again and put your current study, not halt, which in this case would be financial accounting and reporting, but. You know, at that point, you know, let's say, let's say that you score a 74, let's say that's regulation and you score 74. Well, today you're not one point away from passing regulation. You are back to, you know, if you sat down and took it today without standing again, you might score a 60. So either way, you're probably going to have to go back to the beginning so that you ...
