In 2011, with the rise of direct-to-consumer brands like Everlane and Warby Parker, Jonathan Shokrian started MeUndies to make it easy and fun to buy underwear. Now, six years later, they're anticipated to sell 4-5 million pairs of underwear this year. As they scale, change and flexibility are pivotal to keeping the brand fresh and their customer base engaged. Their home page changes a few times each month and they design new packaging for each season. It's all an effort to build a community and they're pushing their mission even further with a brand new rebrand. On this episode, Jonathan talks about his early incubator days working alongside the founders of Dollar Shave Club and Dog Vacay, company culture, shifting to a more mission-based platform, and not taking things too seriously.
On this week's show, the guys show their age. Fuzz fulfills his lifetime dream of sharing a stage with Chris Farley. They discuss how kids these days will never get the pleasure of renting movies like Disorderlies or House Party with Kid n Play, nor will they wear Cross Colors or Hypercolor shirts. A prophecy...
This mix to sum it all up is like a time capsule of songs I was listening to in middle school and through high school. I truly believe the music back then was a lot better than what you hear now because artists back then still had their creative freedom. In the 90’s you can have your gangsta rap with Snoop and Dre but you can also have A Tribe Called Quest or Outkast. I made this mix a couple years ago but people still ask me for copies so i figured it’d be easier to just post it. So enjoy and reminisce about Cross Colors, Karl Kani, Patrick Ewing sneakers or whatever you wore in the 90’s.Suspended From The Old School Mixed by DJ Mike Rizzy for Kuya Tribe Productions
