Show Highlights:Your offer must be structured as an asset. (YOU are the asset!)A checklist to evaluate your coaching business:Human intelligence: Your human intelligence–all of it–is your currency. (What does your life experience bring that is unique?)Asset Inventory: Consolidate your offers to deliver outcomes, results, and transformation. (If you don't understand the playing field, you will be left behind. )Market validation: Who is looking for you? (Who is serving my audience right now?)Avatar Profile: Be able to describe your target client's current situation in micro-detail. (Know what they are looking for, in their language.)Offer Architecture: Is your offer structured, priced, and packaged? (Your offer needs a defined container of systems and frameworks.)Delivery: Can you deliver results consistently and at scale? (Is your process repeatable?)Language: Can you articulate what you sell in a way that makes buyers act? (Language is the bridge between your expertise and your revenue. Eliminate jargon, buzzwords, and vague language.)The basics of coaching are your human intelligence and your delivery, combined into a structured system. Chris Heckman stared at his computer screen with a sinking feeling: his first major e-commerce store launch was a complete zero, leaving him with $100,000 in credit card debt. Instead of crawling back to the safety of his corporate job at Amazon, he adopted a "burn the boats" mentality, treated his failures as data, and built a print on demand (POD) powerhouse that has since generated over $25 million in total sales. In this episode of the UpFlip Podcast, Chris breaks down the realities of building an e-commerce brand from scratch. He explains how he bounced back from massive debt, why most beginners quit right before they find success, and the exact digital marketing strategies he uses today to generate over $1.1M a year without touching a single piece of inventory.

Smart Agency Masterclass with Jason Swenk: Podcast for Digital Marketing Agencies
Would you like access to our advanced agency training for FREE? https://www.agencymastery360.com/training Are you running multiple things at once and wondering why none of them are moving as fast as they should? Are you still the one every project, every client, and every decision routes through, no matter how many people you have on your team? Over nearly three decades, today's featured guest didn't just run an agency. He turned it into an incubator, spinning up multiple SaaS companies, a mobile app, and an accessibility tool, all funded and validated through a model most founders have never tried. In this episode, he'll get into how he built products without outside investors, why the bottleneck is always at the top of the bottle, and what it actually took to step out of the operator seat after 28 years in it. David Carnes is the co-founder of Arcstone, a digital agency based in Minneapolis that has been operating since 1997. Over the course of his career, he has launched multiple companies from inside the agency, including a SaaS platform for associations built as early as 2000, a document management system called Wonderfile that was acquired by Blue Tie in New York, and NC, an accessibility scanning tool built initially for Arcstone's own quality assurance needs. His wife now runs Arcstone as CEO. David currently sits in the CFO seat, operating across all three businesses as an advisor and strategic layer rather than a day-to-day operator. In this episode, we'll discuss: Creating the structure to run several businesses and not be in the middle of everything Why the founder bottleneck is a trap you can learn to avoid Understanding the importance of creating dedicated AI roles Sponsors and Resources This episode is brought to you by Wix Studio: If you're leveling up your team and your client experience, your site builder should keep up too. That's why successful agencies use Wix Studio — built to adapt the way your agency does: AI-powered site mapping, responsive design, flexible workflows, and scalable CMS tools so you spend less on plugins and more on growth. Ready to design faster and smarter? Go to wix.com/studio to get started. Herringbone Digital: If you're thinking about exiting now, planning a few years ahead, or just want to understand your options, you should know about Herringbone Digital. They're not a typical financial buyer. They're operators who actually understand what it takes to build and scale an agency because they've done it themselves. Their approach is simple: invest in great founders, protect what's already working, and help agencies scale faster. Go to https://www.herringbonedigital.com/swenk and start the conversation. Funding Products Without Giving Up Equity One of the most practical lessons owners can take from David is how he funded multiple software products without investors. The model is straightforward: go to existing clients or a relevant group, identify a shared problem, and ask them to collectively fund the build in exchange for lifetime access. For AMO, six or seven associations each kicked in eight thousand dollars. For a later mobile event app, fifteen associations each contributed five thousand. In both cases, David had enough capital to build, immediate users providing real feedback, and zero equity given away. The reason this works is the same reason the Foot in the Door methodology works inside agency sales. A small, committed financial investment creates accountability on both sides. The customers who fund it show up with feedback because they have skin in the game. The builder ships something real instead of overbuilding in isolation. David was explicit that his own tendency to overcomplicate a product shrinks significantly when real users are in the room from day one. Too Many Plates, Not Enough Structure Building multiple companies inside one agency creates a specific kind of chaos. David called it too many plants in one pot. The companies start competing for the same resources, the same attention, and the same management bandwidth. His early answer to this was to stay in the middle of everything, which meant every decision still ran through him. The shift did not come from a framework or a book. It came from maturity and, eventually, necessity. When his wife stepped into the CEO role at Arcstone and dedicated management teams formed at AMO and NC, David moved into the CFO seat and took on what he called a monster back role, someone who can move across the whole field without being anchored to any single function. That is not a role most founders reach quickly, and he is honest about the fact that he still gets pulled back in when a longtime client or friend asks for something. The trap is familiar: you step in, you mean well, and in doing so, you signal to your team that you do not trust them to handle it. Founder Bottleneck Is a Pattern, Not a Personality Flaw David does not pretend he solved the founder bottleneck problem cleanly. In reality, patterns of it showed up repeatedly. You build structure, you step back, something pulls you in, and you disrupt the system you built. David described it as spiral growth rather than linear progress. You see the same lesson again. You handle it a little better. You move on. What makes the pattern more manageable is having a framework that names it. When you can recognize "this is the trap I have fallen into before," you can course-correct faster. That is exactly the work the Founder Evolution Framework is built to do. Operator, Manager, Architect, CEO, Owner: each stage is a distinct role, not just a job title. Revenue does not move you up the ladder. Removing yourself from the critical path does. David is living proof that even experienced operators with 28 years in the seat have to be intentional about each stage of that progression. AI: Surf the Wave or Get Pummeled By It David does not treat AI as a theoretical topic. He attended a ten-thousand-dollar immersive course shortly after Claude introduced persistent context, specifically because he wanted to understand what was actually possible, not just what people were saying about it. His takeaway was concrete enough that he created two dedicated roles inside Arcstone: an AI Architect and an AI Operator. The distinction is worth understanding. The Architect builds the agents and workflows. The Operator runs them, keeps the human in the loop, and catches the errors. Because AI still makes mistakes, and the founder who knows that firsthand is the one who can train a team to work with it well, not just use it. The agencies that will benefit most are not the ones that hand AI to someone and walk away. They are the ones who build internal capability, document their models and prompts as assets, and treat the technology as a force multiplier on a team that already knows what it is doing. Do You Want to Transform Your Agency from a Liability to an Asset? Looking to dig deeper into your agency's potential? Check out our Agency Blueprint. Designed for agency owners like you, our Agency Blueprint helps you uncover growth opportunities, tackle obstacles, and craft a customized blueprint for your agency's success.
This week is different. It's not an interview, it's a real, ranty discussion. Dana sits down with buyer psychology expert Katie Read to break down something every mom growing a business needs to hear: right now is one of the easiest times in a decade to grow a business as a mom. Big companies are hunting small audiences. AI just made your voice the most valuable thing you own. And the rules for how you build, sell, and show up have completely changed in your favor. If you've ever felt behind, too small, or like you needed a bigger platform before you "really" started, this episode is going to flip that. You'll hear: Why "the fourth grader is king" and why being two steps ahead is enough The "good enough economy" and why it's coming for regurgitation businesses The scars vs. wounds framework for vulnerability that builds authority (not pity) Why newsletters are roaring back, and why your messy human voice is gold right now How to use AI for structure without letting it steal your voice First principles thinking: why the old "video module + Facebook group" model is breaking The two (and only two) things you should actually be using AI for in your business This is a must-listen for any mom running an online business. Katie's officially becoming a recurring co-host on the show, so this is the first of many discussions like this one. Markets - Did we just correct? - Inflation - Eco that matters - Manipulation in Oil - Land? John Dvorak Jr. - Guest - UPDATE ON JCD - AH Spoke with JCD Saturday.... Oil Prices - Bogus? - The price of oil in the middle east is at $140 for its land-locked price, but ocean traveling oil is at $100. - Sort, of, opposite of what you'd expect? - But, then there's been active conversation and warning about manipulating oil futures to manage the situation. - Oil in Backwardation across the spectrum. (Current price of oil contract is $95 and December contract is $75) Oil Prices may be BOGUS - But What About Gas? Gas Prices More Manipulation - The Trump administration has discussed trading in the oil futures market as a strategy to help curb surging crude prices amid the war in Iran, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said. - US would just sell future contracts and then deliver at those prices at the end of the contract date. (SPR/Venezuela?) - Not sure how markets will take an intervention like that. - Remember when short selling was banned on Financials back in the 2008 ----Stock prices continued to fall during the ban and tended to stabilize only after it was lifted, suggesting the ban did not stop the decline. ------ Seems that when government intervenes in free markets they can set off more panic as the optics make it look even worse. ---- AND- Russian Oil sanctions partially removed Inflation and ECO - PCE Prices stay elevated - GDP rose at a seasonally and inflation-adjusted annual rate of just 0.7% in the fourth quarter, according to a Commerce Department revision Friday. - The first revision of the GDP reading was a sharp step down from the previous estimate of 1.4% and well below the Dow Jones consensus forecast for 1.5%. - The core PCE inflation rose 0.4% in January and 3.1% on a 12-month basis. The ex-food and energy reading was 0.1 percentage point higher than December. Tariffs, Straits of Hormuz, Asset Seizure (Russian Yachts), Venezuelan Oil???? --- This is why Quantum is in play too...(offense and defense) Did you know? - 30% of Helium production comes from Qatar - Qatar helium production stopped back on March 2nd, and is ~30% of all helium globally - South Korea depends almost entirely on helium from the strait of Hormuz, with 65% from Qatar specifically - Semiconductor manufacturing - - Wafer/equipment cooling — High thermal conductivity removes heat fast during lithography, etching, deposition, and other steps; critical for precise temp control and smaller chip nodes (no good substitutes). - - Inert purging & atmospheres — Chemically inert; flushes systems, prevents unwanted reactions in annealing, deposition, or vacuum chambers. -- - Plasma processes — Acts as carrier, diluent, or purge gas in plasma etching for precise circuit patterning. - - Leak detection — Tiny atoms detect micro-leaks in tools, pipelines, and vacuum systems to ensure reliability. - - Backside wafer cooling — Delivers stable cooling to silicon wafers in advanced fabs. INDIA! Running out of Gas - Does it matter? - India maintains only a 25 day reserve of oil - Good news for them that they use coal for electricity generation, and only use oil for transportation - BUT BUT BUT, What about getting goods from one place to another in India? -- FWIW - coal prices up 19% YTD in India Back to this... - AI not causing job losses - WHAT ABOUT META? - Meta's stock climbed after Reuters reported the social media giant is planning to lay off over 20% of its 79,000 employees to balance AI-related spending. Send a textWhen you see a fertility doctor, you're usually offered two paths: IUI or IVF. But what if there's a middle ground? In this episode of Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday, Dr. Mark Amols breaks down IntraVaginal Culture (IVC) — a treatment where your body becomes the incubator. At our clinic, we call the device the “Baby Pod,” and it offers a meaningful step up from IUI without the full cost and complexity of IVF.Dr. Amols explains how IVC works, why it is not the same as IVF, and why marketing it as an IVF replacement is misleading. He walks through real-world success rates, who makes a good candidate, who should avoid it, the limitations of embryo monitoring, and why fewer embryos matter. He also clarifies how IVC differs from mini-IVF and where each fits in modern fertility care.If you've failed IUIs, are concerned about IVF cost, or want a clear, honest breakdown of your options — this episode separates hype from hope and myth from medicine. Thanks for tuning in to another episode of 'Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday' with Dr. Mark Amols. Dave talks about his experience sneaking into Alibaba's headquarters in Hangzhou, China, delving into its history, operations, and the broader Chinese e-commerce landscape. He also shares insights on Alibaba's innovation, working conditions, and the rise of Chinese e-commerce brands, contrasting them with Western markets. Thinking about taking some risk off the table? Or are you looking at taking an extended break from e-commerce in general? Know what your e-commerce business is worth with Quiet Light Brokerage. I screwed up. I was scheduled to go to one of Amazon's biggest conferences in China but there was one big problem. I got the dates wrong. Their security guards were doing their job and I couldn't sneak my way into the conference despite having a ticket to the conference the day after. So what do I do? I snuck into Alibaba instead, like any normal person. In this episode, I talk about the things I saw while sneaking into the Alibaba HQ in Hangzhou, China. I learned how Alibaba's working conditions look like, how Alibaba grows their local brands, and how any mention of Jack Ma got erased from Alibaba. About This Episode: What happens when state law turns a hospital into a "biological incubator"? This episode explores the harrowing story of Adriana Smith, a 30-year-old nurse who was declared brain-dead while nine weeks pregnant. Despite her family's wishes, Georgia's "Life Act" led the hospital to keep her on mechanical life support for 116 days to ensure the delivery of her son, Baby Chance. The legal nightmare didn't end there; because Adriana and the father, Adrian Harden, were not married, he was forced to sue the state just to be recognized as a legal parent. We dive into the intersection of medical ethics, Georgia's heartbeat laws, and the complex battle for father's rights in the wake of tragedy.

Join our champion program: mark@themomentumcompany.comAttend a Thriving Leader event: https://thriving-leader-2026.lovable.app/Instagram: @the.momentum.companyLinkedIn: /momentum-companyIn this powerful episode of the Intentional Agribusiness Leader Podcast, Mark Jewell sits down with Tyler Dickerhoof — dairy farmer, leadership coach, and founder of the Impact Driven Leader movement.Tyler brings raw honesty and hard-won insight to the conversation, unpacking how insecurities quietly shape the way we lead, connect, and communicate — often without us even realizing it. Drawing on decades of experience from dairy barns to boardrooms, Tyler reveals how to recognize your emotional blind spots, dismantle walls that limit growth, and lead from a place of wholeness and trust. This conversation goes beyond leadership theory — it's an unfiltered look at what happens when intensity becomes intimidation, when connection gives way to isolation, and how to reframe it all with empathy, clarity, and courage.Key Takeaways:1. Intentionality Starts with Purposeful ImpactBeing intentional isn't about perfection — it's about aligning your actions with the impact you want to create. Tyler defines it simply: “Be purposeful in action.” Every decision, word, and relationship either builds trust or breaks it.2. The Four Walls of InsecurityTyler introduces a groundbreaking framework that helps leaders identify how fear and insecurity show up in behavior. The four walls are:Intensity: When drive turns into domination.Inactivity: When fear paralyzes decision-making.Insensitivity: When protection becomes detachment.Isolation: When fear of judgment leads to hiding.Recognizing which “wall” you lean on most is the first step toward breaking through it.3. Every Problem Is a Relationship ProblemAs Mark puts it: “Every business issue traces back to a relationship issue.” Tyler expands on this, explaining that our ability to lead others directly mirrors our relationship with ourselves. Leaders who don't value or forgive themselves struggle to extend grace and connection to others.4. Empathy Without Boundaries Isn't Leadership — It's ExhaustionTyler warns that empathy, without limits, leads to burnout. True empathy requires clarity and boundaries — modeling what healthy leadership looks like instead of just preaching it.5. Intentional Leadership in the Age of OverloadFrom late-night texts to “always-on” expectations, Tyler and Mark challenge today's leaders to rethink boundaries. Intentionality means having systems and communication rhythms that protect both productivity and peace. If your team is burning out, it's not a workload issue — it's a leadership clarity issue.6. Choose to Be an Incubator, Not an IncineratorOne of Tyler's most memorable phrases: “I'd rather be an incubator than an incinerator.” Great leaders don't burn people out; they develop them. Building people means caring enough to challenge them, coach them, and let them grow — even if that means letting them go.Notable Quotes:“Be purposeful in action. Our actions create our results, and our results reinforce our beliefs.” – Tyler...

A check-in conversation with Thomas Kliemt, co-founder of Kulturland, which has been growing and they are suddenly, after 10 years in the making, an overnight success. In the first 6 months of 2025, they accelerated their fundraising by 100%, raising the same €2.5m they raised in all of 2024.Once you enable access to land, transition it into the commons as an anti-speculation measure, and remove the huge debt burden new farmers face, who is actually going to farm this land? That's what Thomas' next venture is working to solve, inspired by a highly successful French model which has trained hundreds of farmers in running their businesses through incubator farms: new farmers work their own land for 3 years, run their enterprises, and receive a salary. Afterward, they are ready to take over a farm elsewhere and, remarkably, over 75% of them do. Many of the rest join other farms as employees. This is an incredibly high success rate for any incubator, and the model has already scaled to Belgium, Spain, and Finland. Now Thomas is bringing it to Germany.More about this episode.==========================In Investing in Regenerative Agriculture and Food podcast show we talk to the pioneers in the regenerative food and agriculture space to learn more on how to put our money to work to regenerate soil, people, local communities and ecosystems while making an appropriate and fair return.
