This is the audio from our video here: https://youtu.be/rI1rFe6osYA Life too short for long YouTube videos? Please see the ‘Interesting bits and go-to sections’ information below. This is a show for the echoically confused among you. You’re either new to delay or you’ve been using it for a while without really understanding what you’re doing. The latter was me about five years ago (Mick here). Dan’s in-utero scans, meanwhile, show the distinct outline of a Deluxe Memory Man: he was basically born at 300ms and seriously modulated. Ahem.In this episode we explain and demonstrate the main delay/echo foodgroups down the years and how they may, or may not, suit your intended musical application. Please note that this is NOT Chapter & Verse On All Things Delay, Ever (for example we don’t get into stereo delays, effects loops, pedalboard positioning and a bunch of other stuff). Moreover it is a tonal primer for anybody looking to narrow their search, or at least to provide you with some better questions on the quest for that ever evasive echo. Well not so ever any more: you’ve got a problem, nobody else can help and you’ve found (wait for it) The Delay Team, Team, Team, Team, Team, Te…Oh lordy, apologies. Right, enjoy the episode! A note on signal chain: All the delays you hear in this episode are into the front of fairly high headroom amps set clean-ish. Overdrive pedals are placed before the delays as per the ‘standard’ order. If you use a gainy amp, you may well prefer the sound of your delay in the amp effects loop. Especially digital delays. This is the audio from our video here: https://youtu.be/xWx9yqWmV5o In this episode we take our first long look at – and listen to – the new-for-2019 Boss Waza Tube Amp Expander, next to the already established Universal Audio OX Amp Top Box.Both are designed to offer much increased functionality and low-volume usability/direct recording potential for your existing valve amplifier. As we discuss, however, while they’re ostensibly pitched head-to-head there are nonetheless some significant differences that may make your decision much easier, should you be in the market for such a beast. No, it’s not a straight A/B comparison using exactly the same amps and guitars – as we said they do different things – it’s more of a general overview of their main functions and features and associated tagentalities and observationalisations. We start by hearing the straight attenuation capabilities before heading for the direct sounds. Dan and Chris discuss the layout and other requirements before cracking on with the build. We then plug it in and have a good listen… of course. This video was shot and edited before that which doesn’t really matter… what does matter is that we want to thank Joe and everyone there for their support and friendship over the first years of TPS. We wish everyone involved with Riff City the vey best for the future – for absolutely sure when one door closes another one inevitably opens. Our very best to you Joe and team!

We dive into some of our weekly happenings, including frustration of learning songs note for note, trying to convince a DD500 that it wants to perfectly recreate an Echorec and some musings from our new boy. We discuss the new offerings by JHS in the form of the whitey tighty and the clover. We take a look at a little mental octave thang by the crazy people over at Fuzzrocious, as well as getting all high class with our brand spotlight on Alder and Ash pedalboards.
