Chasing Tone - Guitar Podcast About Gear, Effects, Amps and Tone
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 529 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - A legendary Les Paul and the Circle of Wahs We open up with an international weather report from the guys and Brian tells us about his mini vacation that saw him make a wild return to nature. Kinda. The big news across the pond is all about Oasis (still) and their ticket prices so the guys debate the policy of surge ticket pricing and supply and demand. Do you have an upper limit to how much you would pay for a concert ticket? Blake reached his when he went to see Pantera and Metallica with his kids and he tells us all about it. He has zero regrets. But he did make an interesting observation about the sound dynamics of the venue and breaks it down to the chaps. Brian talks about his home made hearing protection and Blake solicits the views of an audiologist. MXR have released another signature pedal and this one has magical powers - or so Richard believes - so the guys discuss this and a rather special Flying Vee. Brian is still in love with his Explorer. Richard had band practice and tells us about this and his new pedalboard. He discussed the problems he had with his amp's distortion, his memory, his love of the Gearbox, and his memory. Gilmour tickets, Charlie Benante, Tattooed toddlers, Travis Feaster, Recording idiocy, Germanium JFETS???...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!We are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Awesome Course, Merch and DIY mods:https://www.guitarpedalcourse.com/https://www.wamplerdiy.com/Find us at:https://www.wamplerpedals.com/https://www.instagram.com/WamplerPedals/https://www.facebook.com/groups/wamplerfanpage/Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdVrg4Wl3vjIxonABn6RfWwContact us at: podcast@wamplerpedals.comSupport the show

While virtual reality has been around for several decades, both as a concept and a technology, it is only in the past few years that inexpensive, mass-produced, higher-quality VR systems have become broadly available. This has enabled more people to experiment and conduct research with VR software, and better determine its potential and use.The field of medicine has exemplified this approach. Medical Extended Reality, or MXR, is an emerging area of research surrounding the psychology, physiology, and ethics of virtual reality and augmented reality. By applying it to the treatment of mental and physical illnesses, MXR sheds light on some of the most mysterious, even philosophical aspects of human existence - perception and the mind. Dr. Brennen Spiegel is the Director Health Services Research for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he and his colleagues are exploring the cutting edge of MXR. He is also the author of VRx: How Virtual Therapeutics Will Revolutionize Medicine.Subscribe on your favorite podcast platform to never miss an episode! Joel Silverman has spent the last 41 years on the manufacturing side of the business with companies like MXR, DBX, Lexicon, and Millennia. Before this long successful career, Joel who was based in Rochester, NY started Silverfish Audio in 1971. In the summer of 74, Joel had been working with Bonnie Raitt while at Brighton Sound. Ross Ritto joined up with Joel to start building a speaker system for a Bonnie Raitt tour, which is really where it all started to come together for Silverfish Audio.Bill Thompson was co-owner of Brighton Sound before moving on to start Ashly Audio. Early on they were building custom consoles, of which Silverfish had the most. These consoles were ahead of their time with parametric eq's on the outputs, built-in speaker crossovers, compressors, and moreIn 1976, Silverfish landed Jimmy Buffet as a touring client. As they took on more clients and tours grew, it led them to open up an office in Burbank CA in 1978. The company continued to grow as Joel decided to leave the sound company and start the manufacturing side of his career. In 1980 Silverfish moved to San Diego. During this time Dave Shadoan joined the company and became half owner with Ross Ritto. They changed the name to "Southern California Sound Image” in 1984. They are celebrating 50 years in business and Jimmy Buffet is still a client to this day------------------ Check out www.howwegotloud.com for more details and other episodes

They are celebrating 50 years in business and Jimmy Buffet is still a client to this day------------------Check out www.howwegotloud.com for more details and other episodesSupport the podcast on PatreonGet your How We Got Loud swag at our online storeI want to thank Earthworks for sending me their new ICON podcasting microphone.
