He breaks down how to evaluate which channels make sense, what buyers actually care about (hint: it's not your brand), how to pitch them, and how to choose the right brokerage partner. Can You Really Spot a Great Company Before Everyone Else Does? In this episode of REady2Scale, Jeannette Friedrich sits down with Lee McCabe, Partner at Claymore Partners and former executive at Meta, Alibaba, and Expedia. With deep experience in both technology and private equity, Lee shares how to uncover high-potential companies, particularly those hiding in “boring” sectors, by focusing on digital transformation, data-driven operations, and overlooked growth levers. Whether you're an investor, operator, or advisor, you'll gain practical insights into how leading firms are building value not just through financial engineering but through smarter marketing, better tech stacks, and operational efficiency. Key Takeaways: - Why old-school industries hold untapped value:Digitally underserved sectors like B2B and consumer services are ripe for disruption and value creation. - The power of a functional tech stack: Many businesses lack proper data infrastructure. Building a connected, insight-driven stack is step one to scaling sustainably. - What digital value creation really looks like:Private equity must shift from passive ownership to active operational involvement, especially in marketing and data analytics. - Lead generation is the real business: CEOs in services should view themselves as running lead generation engines. Conversion begins with optimised websites and media spend tracked to ROI. - AI hype versus reality: AI is not yet the silver bullet for most companies. Without basic data systems in place, AI becomes a distraction rather than a solution. - How to avoid data overload: Focus on the 10 to 15 KPIs that truly drive performance instead of drowning in dashboards and vanity metrics. - The real role of marketing agencies: Good agencies tie marketing spend directly to revenue and profitability instead of reporting on clicks and impressions. - Advising today's private equity investors: Future-leading firms will use defined operational playbooks focused on digital execution from day one rather than relying on traditional financial levers. - The compound effect of small steps: Lee shares his philosophy for building an extraordinary life: take consistent action every day, even when the direction is unclear. Two tech worlds meet to answer a pressing question: if AI can act for us, what should remain meaningfully human? In this episode, We've teamed up with Gareth Mitchell and Ghislaine Boddington from the Somewhere on Earth Podcast to compare notes on practical adoption, cultural nuance, and the messy, beautiful realities of bringing AI into daily life. Andrew Grill shares how enterprise leaders move from hype to “aha” moments, including a live case where a 17,000-cell SWOT analysis became actionable strategy in minutes. We dig into why projects stall—broken processes, outdated ROI, and thin literacy—and how smart training and transparent policies shift teams from pilots to outcomes. The conversation widens beyond boardrooms. Ghislaine traces the arc from early telepresence and immersive art to today's “body in the digital,” where trust, intimacy, and presence underpin healthy human-machine collaboration. We examine digital human twins, agentic AI that makes decisions on our behalf, and the ethics of agents negotiating with each other. Expect clear takes on governance, transparency, and the line between pattern-matched empathy and the real thing. We also explore global perspectives: AI ethics in the Nordics, smart-city lessons from Singapore, manufacturing in Japan, and the access gaps that keep billions offline.Media and learning are transforming too. Universities are moving from AI bans to guidance that requires prompt and output documentation, building accountability and critical thinking. On the creator side, we look at AI in podcast production and the next step—personalized listening that adapts to knowledge and time. Along the way, we share recommended episodes, from Karen Jacobsen's origin as the original Aussie Siri voice to Deborah Humble's high-wire opera story packed with lessons in resilience and preparation. If you're curious about technology but allergic to hype, this co-production brings grounded examples, human-centered design, and a global lens. Subscribe, share with a friend who needs a practical AI playbook, and leave a quick review with your biggest “aha” or open question—what would you never let an AI decide for you?Resources mentionedSomewhere on Earth PodcastThanks for listening to Digitally Curious. Whenever we talk about the future of work, technology almost always takes center stage, AI, data, automation, all of it. But there's one important question: if everything becomes digital, then where does the human side of work fit in? Because at the end of the day, what makes work meaningful isn't just the tools we use, it's how we feel, how we connect, and how we grow. And that's exactly what we're exploring today: how do we build a workplace that's digitally enabled, but still deeply human? Joining us for this conversation is someone who knows this balance inside out- Sangeeta Shetty, Head of People & Culture (HR) – Global Practice & Delivery at Ascendion. In the ancient Yererouk Basilica in Armenia, near the border with Turkey, young engineers are using 3D digital technology to scan every part of the building. The aim is to recreate the church on a screen, in full-colour and in three dimensions. This is the digital preservation initiative, created by TUMO, the Center for Creative Technologies, based in Armenia's capital Yerevan. It is training young Armenians to use new technology and also to connect them to their their 2000-year-old Armenian Christian heritage. In 2023, the country lost control of numerous important religious sites, when the province of Nagorno-Karabakh was taken over by neighbouring Muslim Azerbaijan. The mountainous enclave, known as Artsakh to Armenians, has long been a disputed territory between the two countries. Despite the new peace agreement signed recently, the province is still closed to Armenians. International observers using satellite technology say dozens of important Christian sites have been damaged or destroyed. Julia Paul travels to Armenia to find out how drones and lasers are helping young Armenians to connect to and preserve their ancient Christian heritage. - Advising today's private equity investors:Future-leading firms will use defined operational playbooks focused on digital execution from day one rather than relying on traditional financial levers. - The compound effect of small steps:Lee shares his philosophy for building an extraordinary life: take consistent action every day, even when the direction is unclear. Send us a textWe dive deep into how digital algorithms shape our thinking and behavior through subtle reward systems rather than direct commands, exploring Michael Aponte's concept of "digitally optimized obedience" and its far-reaching implications for individual autonomy and society. Drawing from Aponte's research, the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute, and Harvard Medical School findings, we examine how technology is fundamentally reshaping our sense of morality and acceptable speech through invisible algorithmic nudges.• Digitally optimized obedience works through rewards and incentives, not direct commands or fear• Algorithms create feedback loops that train users to behave in ways that generate engagement • Content amplification functions as implicit moral approval while shadow-banning marks ideas as unacceptable• Echo chambers and filter bubbles create the illusion of information while narrowing our perspectives• Algorithms deliberately escalate content toward more extreme versions to maintain engagement• Digital platforms known to target children's developing brains despite awareness of potential harm• Self-censorship emerges as users internalize algorithmic preferences to gain social rewards• Reclaiming autonomy requires conscious awareness of how algorithms shape our choicesTake a moment to consider how deeply algorithms are influencing your thoughts and behaviors. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Hugh Massie discuss:Predictive insights from human behavior in leadership and business strategySelf-awareness and hardwired traits as drivers of leadership effectivenessGovernance dynamics in enabling or constraining powerful executivesOrganizational resilience in the face of AI disruption and rapid innovationBehavioral economics as a tool for sustainable financial performance Key Takeaways:Behavior serves as a powerful leading indicator of future financial and cultural performance, allowing organizations to anticipate outcomes before they materialize in traditional reports.Digitally scanning leadership behavior using publicly available data enables predictive profiling at scale, offering strategic insights into executive decision-making styles without requiring formal assessments.Sustained business success is often linked to a balanced presence of six core behavioral traits, including results-driven, innovation-focused, fiscal control, financial prudence, and relationship engagement. When leadership strengths such as vision, influence, or risk-taking are left unchecked—particularly in environments with weak governance—they can backfire and lead to long-term brand erosion and internal dysfunction. About David Hirschfeld:David Hirschfeld is a 35-year veteran of the software startup world whose journey began as a physics student at UCLA. He spent his early career at Computer Associates and Texas Instruments, then led software projects at Intel and Motorola. He launched his first successful startup software company, which grew to 800 customers in 22 countries, and sold it in 2000. David founded Tekyz Inc. in 2007 and spent 17 years working with over 70 startups, leading to his breakthrough insight into what makes software companies succeed or fail and inspiring the Launch 1st Method. This systematic approach reduces risks, costs, and time while minimizing investor dependence. When he's not transforming startups, David is a golfer, a woodworker, and a proud father of four successful sons who taught him his most valuable lesson: success follows patterns, but they're not always the ones you expect. In this episode, Dean Newlund and David Hirschfeld explore:Speed and implications of AI innovationWorkflow automation and process redesignModern approaches to product innovation and validationThe future impact of autonomous vehiclesUser empowerment through advanced AI tools Key Takeaways:Automating outdated workflows without reevaluating their relevance can lead to inefficiency—some processes should be reinvented, not just automated.Instead of building products based on assumptions, companies should test the market through pre-sales to validate real demand before development.AI tools like ChatGPT's voice and vision modes can now provide real-time visual navigation, product identification, and contextual support in everyday situations. The rise of autonomous vehicles like Waymo may render parking structures and personal car ownership obsolete within five years, fundamentally shifting urban infrastructure needs. Send us a textIn this episode, we dismantle the sacred cows of self-help and hustle culture with equal parts honesty and introspection. We start by questioning one of the most glorified slogans in fitness and life: “Go hard or go home.” Is it a motivational mantra… or just a socially acceptable way to ignore your body and trauma? From there, we dive into:· The self-inflicted damage we often call “grit” or “grind.”· Why brutal honesty isn't always brave, or kind.· The conversation we wish we could have had with our younger self (and maybe still need to).· How early experiences of chaos or neglect can shape a lifetime of risky behavior disguised as ambition.· And finally, we zoom out: What does our evolving relationship with AI reveal about the parts of ourselves we've outsourced, avoided, or are just now beginning to understand? This episode isn't just about performance or technology, it's about what we sacrifice, what we glorify, and what we might reclaim if we stopped confusing pain for progress. In this electrifying episode of Rug Pull Radio, GMoney is joined by special guest Ashe in America for a deep and fiery dialogue about freedom, governance, and the future of civilization. The pair dig into the core philosophical split between individual sovereignty and bureaucratic control, using bitcoin as a springboard for a larger conversation about decentralization, personal responsibility, and systemic collapse. Ashe shares her journey from globalist corporate strategist to Badlands firebrand, while GMoney lays out his vision for "digital 1776," where the people reclaim their energy, time, and governance through peer-to-peer value systems. From Freedom Cities and taxation as theft to the movement's spiritual awakenings, the episode builds a case for peaceful non-compliance, lawfare, and opting out of centralized systems. The duo debate the risks and tradeoffs of direct democracy, digital currencies, and AI-driven medical care, while acknowledging the inevitable tensions between liberty and security in any future society. Packed with high-level thought, grounded reality checks, and a whole lot of conviction, this episode is a battle of ideas between two allies who agree on the mission, even if they see the map differently.
